I was warm without touching the air conditioning. While the parking was not right by the unit it used, there was good parking. I had no trouble walking up the sloping driveway and the steps to access my accommodation. Others might find this a problem.

Nice place just around the corner from the Waitomo caves experience with the 100 meter absail...There were a fair number of steps up to our room but the room was nice and the water pressure was good. We kept warm on a July night and slept well. The breakfast was a fine continental breakfast and checkout was quick. We only stayed one night because of our schedule but could have easily enjoyed a couple more!

I enjoyed my stay at the Waitomo Lodge. Lynn greated me with a great spirit and was very welcoming. My room was tidy and comfortable. Tea kettle and an assortment of teas in your room. A/C and heater both worked well. Breakfast in the morning was just what i neexex to start my day. Good string coffee, soft warm croissants and yogurt with fruit and granola. Dinner at Tomos was fantastic. Thank you Lynn for the recommendations. I had a solid nights sleep and a great visit to the area.

Property is very close to glow worm cave. The climb from the parking to your room should come with a Sherpa. I’d have packed a small overnight bag if I had known. It’s comfortable, the owners are delightful folks, and the breakfast hearty and fresh.

The hotel is in a great location for the Waitomo Caves, the waterfall, the Natural Bridge, and just nice rolling hills. Our room was secluded and had everything we needed for our stay. The property has nice vegetation and a nice deck to sit on.

This property was ideal for visiting the Waitomo Caves. The proprietor is very attentive to the needs of her guests and goes out of her way to graciously make each one feel at home. Our room was comfortable and cozy. We really did not mind the steps as these added to the ambience of the individual rooms as they are scattered through the quaint property. It is helpful to drive up the driveway and drop off your luggage first as the owner suggests. And any guests who need extra help with steps should be dropped off too. The whole of the Waitomo Caves Village is on hills so if that is an issue, then being dropped off everywhere, versus walking, which is half the fun, is what a person should do.

My friend also lost her passport on the property and the host went out of her way to mail it at our next destination. She was very kind and responsive. Unfriendly welcome. Access to the property is via some unsafe steps. The gardens are overgrown and the tin huts are badly insulated against both heat and cold.
If the owner offers to book a meal for you at the local restaurant, you expect it to be done. Sadly this is not the case as she regularly forgets.

Our room had a slightly saggy queen bed plus a separate twin bed. There was not enough room to lay down the suitcases except on the twin bed. Shower water pressure was excellent although the shower itself needed sprucing up. The sink was small, so one had to be careful not to turn the water up too high or risk splashing. The lighting set up over the sink was slightly strange - there were 3 small high intensity halogen lights pointing at you. I overheard a guest at breakfast saying that she got a burn trying to re-direct the lamps... Although our room was near the highway, it was quiet because there was no traffic on the road at night (until about 6AM).
Breakfast a little skimpy - continental fare with a slightly limp croissant and toast. Coffee a little weak. There was yogurt, fruit and cereal/muesli.
The host Richy was very friendly and informative. One could tell that he was fond of his town!

We enjoyed our stay here: the hosts are outstanding, the value is excellent, and the location most convenient. Perhaps my expectations were too high as it was truly wonderful on a previous stay in 2019, but it has slipped some since then. This is an older property, the rooms are very clean but plain, and one person in our party had a very uncomfortable night due to difficulty with the heat controls. Breakfast was mediocre. I hesitated to gave this 5 stars, but the location and price allowed me to overlook the defects.

Conveniently located near the Waitimo Caves, and the owners were very attentive and super friendly. Also appreciated the generous continental breakfast.
Most importantly, the suggestion for a night hike on the Ruakuri bushwalk trail was a great bonus and they even had torches ready for people who wanted go on a hike, where you can see the glowworms for free!
