When we arrived at Hotel Califfo the receptionist was pleasant enough, despite our late arrival. However, that’s about the only good thing about this place. The location is far away from any nicer restaurants, which was poor research on our part. The largest issue was the cleanliness, the room was downright disgusting and I think at best the bed was made and th toiletries replaced. Drywall plaster shavings on the floor, dirt/grim on coverlet, blood oj the pillow case and ants on the floor. Beyond the cleanliness the rooms are dated, beds uncomfortable and they give you two very thin pillows. We booked for three nights and with no where else to go at 10:30pm we stayed one night and left to an Air BNB in the morning. If you are trying to have a nice holiday, do not stay here - its absolutely not worth it.

The hotel met the need, but it's run down (maybe it's old?), cleanliness was totally fine but in our room, we had that second toilet thing we didn't use (thankfully), but when we poured water down it, it didn't work. The shower head base was broken so we had to hold the shower to wash, the shower curtain thing also leaked. Also the AC either wasn't strong enough to keep up with the heat or not working to my standards (the boyfriend thought it was fine... I did not). Rooms also have paper thin walls, we were playing cards and our neighbour came knocking asking us to turn it down -- we were talking normal so we tried to be as quiet as we could after that. Also we figured out quick they run out of food by the 0900 crowd so we made a point to go for breakfast by 0830 or go out for breakfast.

All-in... It met our needs of free parking and the mattress wasn't too bad to sleep on.

The surrounding areas are sketchy. I walked 10 minutes to the nearby beach and it was totally trash，dirty and smelly. The room is big，can host 3 people with 1 Queen size bed and 1 twin bed. The breakfast is good with a lot of selections. I enjoyed my stay overall.

We arrived at the hotel, the parking area outside had cracked pots lying about. Upon entering the reception area it was clean and fairly modern, misleading us to believe that our room would mirror this. We were given the key, then first red flag should have been the lift area, literally writing on the wall. Tiny and again dated. 2nd floor apartment, we entered, it was noisy and very dated. Metal ceiling panels with the air conditioner right above it. Noise was unbearable. Bathroom, cracked sink and shower curtain that obviously liked the feel of skin! Waant rhe cleanest curtain either. The hairdryer wouldn't even blow a cobweb never mind your hair! The shower leaked. Bedroom, two twin beds one sheet one pillow. We had to request extra linen and pillows. An old tv wall mount for the larger 1980's style tv with a tiny flat screen plonked on top, which was so high picture wasn't worth having. Not enough plugs, no kettle or cups, the facilities were shocking. The shutter on balcony kept falling down with a heavy thud. Balcony, no furniture to sit on. Not as described regarding hotel offering. No pool music, no atmosphere, no pool bar despite being mentioned, you had to get dressed and walk back up stairs to go to the cafe section in hotel. If you were lucky enough to find a member of staff to serve you. No pool bbqs at all. The pool was dirty. The blue tiles in pool taking on a lovely beige colour and the pool wasn't once netted and debris removed.

Definitely a quiet accommodation so good if you’re looking for rest. Close to the beach and a couple restaurants and a grocery store. The front desk was super helpful, Valentina was absolutely amazing and from the moment we arrived we felt so taken care of, her energy and vibe was refreshing and she was friendly 10/10 for her!

Our room 6 in the residence building was spacious. The bathroom was nice, plenty of towels, great water pressure in the shower, but ran out of hot water when showering easily. Ants in the clothing cabinet and also on the floor near it and near the foot of the bed. Kitchen functional, but the only frying pan was old scratched Teflon. Stove and pan not suitable for cooking steaks. Bed not very comfortable. Hot tub near the pool did not work. Appearance of hotel is that it needs updating. Staff friendly/helpful. I sent a message to the hotel through Expedia asking if they could send my husband's swim trunks to us (forgot them in the bathroom). We would gladly pay postage. No response from the hotel. Disappointed in that.

This was probably the worst experience for myself and my child. We was bitten every night by bedbugs. My sons body is cover up in bites. I was woken with leaks in my bedroom pouring down from the ceiling to the extent I had to put a bucket and towels on the floor.

Breakfast was the worst. For the 10 nights we were there. My son was unable to eat breakfast. When I complained about this, the staff was very rude and unhelpful.

This hotel should be shut down. Not even a kettle for tea in the rooms or a bottle of water with glass.

We practically met an empty room upon our arrival.

I am very disappointed about Callifo Hotel, no Wifi Connect in my room during my 6 day stayed. My son stood in the corridor to get wifi connect to his tablet every day. The staff were not friendly, poor breakfast in the morning not much variety, cold coffee no tropical fruits, just basic cakes and biscuits.
the bath towels stink.

Friendly and good value

The Califfo is a little dated in the bedrooms and basic but value for money. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and speak good English. The plumbing seems to be struggling as the toilets keep refilling unless the flush is forced back into position. We had a TV, safe and fridge in the room which was useful as there's a couple of supermarkets within walking distance and the food and drinks are very cheap. We just had breakfast at the hotel, which was continental and fresh coffees could be ordered from the bar as the urn option wasn't great. I'm Gluten free, so was provided with a basket with a variety of GF crackers, toasts and muffins each morning. To see the better parts of Sardinia you'll need a car if staying here or use the bus system which is actually simple to negotiate, particularly with the use of Google Maps and the hotel staff, as well as being excellent value. Short trips need a ticket buying in advance from the kiosk near the pharmacy across the road from the hotel, but longer trip tickets can be purchased directly from the driver.
The pool area is lovely. Unfortunately the jacuzzi wasn't in action when we were there. Wifi was provided, but not great.

The hotel itself was fine and the staff were very good and very helpful, it's biggest problem was it's location. It wasn't near the beach or the town, in fact it was near nowhere. The only plus part about it's location was the fact it had a bus stop right outside the hotel to take you somewhere where the was something to do. The menu was limited and quite expensive and only one restuarant across the (busy) road to eat. Pool and surround nice, wi-fi very good, bar area- not too good.
Although a very nice hotel, we wouldn't stay there again - sorry :(

Value for money Califfo Hotel

Our stay in The Califfo was for a visit to my terminally ill friend. I know the area well and can say with confidence that if you are staying at any hotel in the vicinity, you need a car as the bus services are only every half an hour and may not get you to where you ant to be. Restaurants are dotted along the villasimius road and you need the vehicle to get to them. I recommend the Clipper. The Califfo was clean, tidy and well presented. The staff speak fluent English and were polite, friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel has a lovely pool which provides much cooling if the weather is hot. Breakfast is a continental breakfast, so do not expect a full English. Top Tip, ask the waiter for coffee and do not use it out of the urn.

Fawlty Towers style arrival but ok otherwise

We arrived late at night owing to time of flight - the hotel was accomodating with this (thankfully!)
The night manager unfortunately sent us up the wrong staircase for our room - if we weren't so tired would have figured it out but a 'Fawlty Towers' style episode followed.
Eventually got to our room and had a good night's sleep.
The facilities were basic (particularly the shower) but everything was nice and clean.
Staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the breakfast.

I would not stay again. Outdated hotel that is too far from the city centre. The closest beach is not the nicest beach (you need a car / book a tour to get to the beautiful beaches) and one member of the hotel staff was notably unhelpful / had an attitude problem.

Strange place, strange location

Ended up leaving after a few hours as it was really not as expected unfortunately. Not a great reception from staff, raised eyebrows and annoyed expression that I couldn't speak Italian; hotel is very dated and quite dingy, and the room was disappointing, dated with sewage smell from the bath and remnants of vomit re-surfacing in the sink. Pool area was run down, no bar or refreshments available outside, and a group of about 30 kids appeared in the mid-afternoon taking over the place, playing football & games and generally being very kid-like and loud so even just lying out in the sun was a challenge in the end. Location very remote, nothing to do in the area, quite industrial. Found another hotel and left; wasn't offered refund.

everything you need - a great hotel

It is a lovely hotel very clean and the staff are lovely and always happy to accomodate any requests. Unfortunately the pool was shut as we were there in April out of season, but we had a look and it looked absolutely fine. There is a supermarket (there is fridges in the room), a cafe, restaurant (it opens at half 7), and gelateria opposite. There is also a bus stop directly outside allowing you to get the pf bus which takes you to all the main places such as the beaches and Cagliari city centre. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again :-)

Was not close to anything advertised.

The hotel was not half as nice as shown on Hotels.com. The nearby beach was littered with trash and was very unsitely. I could not imagine if me and wife did not have the luxury of a rental car, like some of the other guest. Next time I plan on staying in Villasimius. It has everything, that I'm sure, it's neighboring hotels advertised. Waste of money. It should not be listed on a fabulous site like hotels.com

Hotel Ok surroundings need a clean up.

A sound enough hotel and easy to get into Cagliari by car or bus. Fine for a couple of nights but I would not want to spend a week here. A typical commercial/tourist class hotel and not 4 star as suggested but was 3 star. It was OK but by far tyhe most impersonal hotel we stayed in in Sardinia. Fit for purpose - to visit Cagliari and provide a pool at the end of the day! Some parts rather run down - may just have been end of season?

Where are the 4 stars? Hotel looks very old and not taken care of. The hotel is not too far from Cagliari but its still a 15 min drive. The room and the furniture look like they have not been changed since 1985. The pool was not very enticing, it looked scary. The Jacuzzi was dirty and stunk. The breakfast was not the best and their coffee was in the worst in all of Italy. I was very disappointed with the hotel, I don't recommend this hotel. The only positive was the attitude of the workers, they were very nice and answered all our questions but don't expect them to help you with anything outside the hotel.

if you have car, its best for the best price

I went with my gf from UK. since we had no car nor hired any car, it was very difficult to commute. the public bus services were pathetically bad. I strongly recommend to have a car if you want to travel around and dont rely on public buses.
It was no way close to centre of city. The hotel, as such, was simple and nice. I enjoyed the stay in the hotel. Breakfast was ok, not much varieties, although you would expect similar things in other hotels too (my previous experience)

O gerente Paolo foi super profissional, resolveu os problemas de forma excelente. Nos colocaram num quarto bem abafado, no terreo, de frente ao estacionamento. Falamos com ele e nos mudou para um quarto melhor, porém a segunda cama (somos 3) estava quebradra, tentamos uma troca, mas não havia mais quartos disponíveis para três. Ele coloccou a terceira pessoa num quarto duplo sem cuatos adicionais. O café da manhã do prineiro dia estava péssimo: chegamos 9:30h para limite de 10h, não havia mais nada literalmente e não fizeram reposição. O café da manhã no geral não condiz com um hotel 4 estrelas, beeemmm fraco. Chuveiro excelente e cama (a que não estava quebrada) excelente também.

Byggeri i gang på taget - søndag aften kl 23 var der stadig håndværker med en boremaskine, det samme mandag morgen om 05. Vi boede på hotellet 4 dage med larm morgen og aften. Ingen internet på grund af arbejderne, poolbar var kun for et syns skyld, minibaren var blot et køleskab, så kald det hvad det er. Derudover så stank der af kloak på værelset.

Eine Frechheit dieses Hotel. Ungeziefer im Zimmer. Dreckig. Bettwäsche ekelig.
Frühstücksbuffet ekelig. Geschirr dreckig. Mahlzeiten in Tupperware hingestellt. Kaffe, Filterkaffe, Kaffebehälter verdreckt.

Nella media il rapporto qualità prezzo è soddisfacente.
Ottima la posizione ed il parcheggio, personale professionale e disponibile, pulizie Ok, servizio colazione vario e ben organizzato.
Inaccettabile per una matrimoniale e soprattutto per un soggiorno di 10 notti, due reti e materassi singoli che si aprono nel mezzo ad ogni movimento ( legati poi con una fascetta elettrica dopo la nostra richiesta, inevasa, di sostituire almeno il materasso)

Pobyt w tym hotelu niestety pozostawił po sobie więcej rozczarowań niż pozytywnych wspomnień.
Największym problemem były mrówki w pokoju – na podłodze przy drzwiach, przy łóżku, a nawet zdarzyło się, że na łóżku. Nie pomagało to w poczuciu komfortu, zwłaszcza że drzwi wejściowe miały widoczną szparę, przez którą owady swobodnie wchodziły do środka.

Śniadania były bardzo monotonne – codziennie to samo, kompletnie bez warzyw. Jajecznica wyglądała i smakowała tak, jakby była przygotowywana na przypalonej patelni. Do tego w pokoju nie było nawet podstawowego wyposażenia, jak czajnik czy szklanka, co w hotelu tej klasy powinno być standardem.

Kolejnym minusem był brak baru przy basenie – jeśli ktoś miał ochotę na drinka, musiał przechodzić przez hotel i recepcję, koniecznie ubrany (nie wolno było przejść bez koszulki), co całkowicie odbierało klimat wakacyjnego wypoczynku.

Łazienka również mocno rozczarowała: zamiast prysznica była stara wanna z kotarą, przez którą woda lała się na całą podłogę. Na dodatek zarówno wanna, jak i zlew były zapchane, przez co woda w ogóle nie spływała.

WIFI - Działające tylko i wyłącznie przy recepcji, na basenie czy w pokojach zero zasięgu, co również nie przystoi takiemu hotelowi…

Do tego wszystkiego dochodził jeszcze personel – bardzo oschły i mało pomocny, co tylko potęgowało negatywne odczucia.

Na plus mogę wymienić jedynie kilka rzeczy:
• dobra lokalizacja – minutę od przystanku autobusowego,
• basen, choć mało atrakcyjny ale było ok

Pæne værelser. Standard morgenmad. Der stod i beskrivelserne, at der var mulighed for fitness tæt på hvor der kunne købes adgang, det vidste personalet intet om, de henviste til Google. Vi havde bestilt 2 dobbelt værelser, og blev placeret i hver sin ende af hotellet. Virkelig utrolig grimt, slidt og meget ringe pool område. Lever overhovedet ikke op til beskrivelserne. Ingen poolbar. "Boble bad" lukket.

Hotellet är långt, långt ifrån strand, du behöver bil eller åka kommunalt med buss. Vi bodde i familjerum och de tar flera dolda avgifter som man får veta vid incheckning, avgifterna är för tex 30 euro för slutstädning av rummet, 10 euro deposition per person för badhanduk, 100 euro deposition för rummet och någonting skulle gå sönder. Vi hade myror och kackerlackor i köket. Rummen är mycket lyhörda och slitna. Städning ingår endast 1 gång i veckan, annars kostar det 15 euro för extra städning per gång.

J’ai séjourné dans cet hôtel classé 4 étoiles, mais dans l’ensemble, l’expérience a été assez moyenne. Rien de catastrophique, mais rien d’exceptionnel non plus.

Chambre : Correcte, propre mais sans charme particulier. La literie est convenable, mais l’insonorisation laisse à désirer. Quelques équipements sont un peu vieillissants. Bien comme la ventilation qui ne marche pas correctement.

Service : Le personnel est poli, mais sans chaleur. On sent un service standardisé, sans effort particulier pour rendre le séjour mémorable.

Restauration : Petit-déjeuner convenable, mais le choix est limité pour un établissement de ce standing. Le restaurant manque de variété et de saveur.

Installations : Piscine et autres services présents, mais sous-exploités ou peu mis en valeur. Rien qui donne vraiment envie d’en profiter.

Localisation : Bien située, ce qui est un point positif, mais cela ne compense pas le manque d’âme de l’établissement.
En résumé, un hôtel qui remplit les cases sans réellement se distinguer. Si vous cherchez quelque chose de pratique et fonctionnel, cela peut convenir, mais ne vous attendez pas à une expérience mémorable.

Dommage que cet établissement est retiré du centre..
Dommage qu’il faut traversé l’accueil pour accéder à la piscine.
L’isolation est médiocre = on entant tout ce qu’il se passe dans les couloirs, à l’étage et dès que les agents font le ménage..
L’agent d’accueil de nuit nous a bien à guider et renseigner sur notre séjour dans l’établissement.

Frühstück immer gleich, Rührei ekelhaft, keine richtige Kaffee, aus dem Kanne kommt einfach schwarze Flüssigkeit, 15 Sorten Küchen statt paar Scheiben frischen Tomaten oder gurken. Zu laut in Fluren, Föhn uralt,mit einem Rohr zusammen mit Klebeband gebunden.Fast Keine Balkon. Kaum Möglichkeiten wäsche zu trockenen bzw Bikinis oder nasse Handtücher. Abend nichts los,,in Hotel keine Animation oder sonst was.Wenn jemand ohne Auto hier bleiben will würde ich nie empfehlen.

I am a travel agency employee and travel worldwide to many countries. I have experienced many different hotels and their service. We travel agencies check on behalf of the organizers and also recommend the hotels. When I arrived I had been up for 36 hours and just wanted to take a shower, I was told upon arrival that the suitcases were next to me and I had to pay the bill for the room first. I gave the gentleman my credit card, but was annoyed because I had never in my life had to pay the bill immediately upon arrival. Only a few days later or at the end was actually normal. Since my credit card is secured with my bank and I receive a code on my cell phone to activate the amount, it didn't work because my cell phone couldn't yet connect to the Italian network. The gentleman didn't understand me because I didn't speak Italian and he didn't speak English well. Normally you also enter your ID number, but he tried about 6 times. I gave him my bank card, which is valid throughout Europe, but no, it is not accepted. He kept trying the credit card. I just thought the card would be blocked immediately. A colleague then told him that the bank card would also work. After the debit I was allowed to enter the room. I was extremely angry because I had never experienced anything like this before. Rapporto qualità prezzo terribile.

Inizio con le note positive, lo staff era molto cordiale e professionale sia alla reception che in sala colazioni, l’hotel è dotato di ampio parcheggio e di una comoda piscina. Purtroppo ci sono alcuni lati negativi che un hotel 4 stelle (ma in realtà è al massimo un 3 stelle) non si dovrebbe permettere, inizio col dire che la stanza era al terzo piano, la connessione Wi-Fi al terzo, ma anche in zona reception e piscina, era un disastro. L’unica ascensore spesso non funzionava o comunque sempre occupata. L’aria condizionata in camera si interrompeva per svariate ore durante la notte con temperature estive di 35gradi si trasformava in un forno (di giorno non eravamo in camera quindi non saprei). Le finestre non erano dotate di tende ma solo di persiane quindi si era costretti a dormire con finestre aperte per il caldo, fare la guerra con le zanzare e svegliarsi presto per la luce che entrava di prima mattina. Insomma, mi dispiace ma non vale i soldi spesi!

Hotel Califfo fremstår som et fint hotel ud fra de billeder man kan se på Hotels.com og andre steder på nettet. Men i virkeligheden er hotellet rigtig slidt. Sengene på værelserne er af dårlig kvalitet, hvor nogle af fjedrene er i stykker. Aircondition kunne ikke justeres. Morgenmad er egentlig OK, men man sidder inde i en indendørs restaurant. Der bliver ikke fyldt op. Poolområdet er rigtig slidt og ikke særlig hyggeligt. Selve poolen er fin og ren, med det er også hvad der er at sige om poolen.

Un po' datato negli arredamenti però tutto funzionale e ben pulito, con materasso comodissimo.
Operatori tutti molto gentili, servizio a tavola perfetto e cibo molto buono.
Piccolo neo: manca qualcosa per stendere gli asciugamani da mare e purtroppo per una mia dimenticanza di un farmaco sul tavolo della colazione, il farmaco stesso non è stato più ritrovato.

Abbiamo prenotato una quadrupla e ci hanno dato "una doppia ad uso quadruplo".

Das Hotel ist ca. 20 Minuten mit dem Auto von Cagliari entfernt und verfügt über einen großen Parkplatz. Das Zimmer war in Ordnung von der Größe und sauber. Die Einrichtung ist aus den 90ern aber alles in Funktion. Ganz besonders lobenswert ist das Personal, sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, so dass man sich willkommen fühlt. Das Frühstück ist vom Buffet und in Ordnung. Das Abendessen ist A la Carte, drei Gänge und schmeckt prima. Es beginnt jedoch sehr spät. Erst um 20 Uhr.

Wo kommen hier vier Sterne her ???

Absolut überholtes Interieur, gammelige Loungemöbel beim Pool, keinerlei Instandsetzungsmaßnahmen in der Anlage.
Dazu desinteressiertes Personal an der Rezeption, kein Transportwagen für Gepäck.
Einzig allein der Service im Frühstücksraum konnte überzeugen, ganz im Gegensatz zum Frühstück an sich! Allerdings guter Cappuccino!

Coperta di lana imbustata ma non sigillata e sicuramente NON profumata di lavanderia.... stanza fredda!!

En aucun cas cet hôtel est un 4 étoiles, un 2 à la rigueur. Hôtel vieux, mobilier vieux, salle d'eau datant des années 70.Notre chambre donnait sur un terrain avec des chevaux, donc avec la chaleur, vous pouvez imaginer l'odeur, avec ça des chiens qui aboient régulièrement. La clim'ne peut pas être réglée sinon elle s'arrête, le petit dej', 3 viennoiseries qui se battent, quelques fruits, des gâteaux que l'on mange au goûter mais sûrement pas au p'tit dej, sinon tout le reste c'est des trucs emballés qu'on peut acheter en magasin. 2 jus de fruit à boire dans des verres en plastique jetable, et le café, bah les 2 derniers jours je n'en ai pas vu la couleur. Bref pas digne d'un 4 étoiles. Pour les transports, un arrêt de bus près de l'hôtel, mais leurs passages est vraiment aléatoire,voiture obligatoire de l'arrivée au départ. Le parking de l'hôtel gratuit,piscine sympa. Mais si vous savez réellement ce qu'est un 4 étoiles ne choisissait pas cet hôtel.

Nous sommes très déçus par cet hôtel..la chambre nulle et vieille, literie dun autre âge avec des ressorts que l'on sent bien, tres mal dormie car en plus climatisation fait un bruit d'enfer.
Télévision dune taille minuscule et pas de chaîne française.
En plus était annoncé un jacuzzi mais pas d'eau dedans..donc pas de respect des prestations annoncees.
Je vais faire une réclamation pour ces 2 nuits pourries

最初の夜、たまたまティーンの団体が同じフロアで、大変騒がしい夜もありました。壁が薄いのかも知れませんが、ホテルの設備、スタッフの対応、客層はとても良かったです。チェントロからバスで30分の立地ですが、周りは閑静でありつつ、レストランやスーパー、バール、キオスク等は揃っていて何も不便はありませんでした。カリアリを訪問する際はまた訪れたいと思います。私の初サルデーニャを素敵な時間にして下さり、有難うございました。
