My wife and I stopped over at Arabella Golf Resort and Spa for three nights. The staff were absolutely amazing, the food brilliant, the breakfast exceptional! In addition I had an accident involving me to be rushed to the emergency section of Mediclinic Hermanus. The duty Supervisor realised the urgency, and treated me whilst the ambulance was en route. Quickly fixed up, the staff Supervisor at Arabella personally drove to collect us and take us back to the hotel at 1.30 in the morning.
A very well managed hotel with professional staff that use initiative.

Great work Arabella, we will be back. Highly recommended. Thank you!!

Wonderful getaway for the Easter weekend

Lovely, comfortable stay for 2 nights. The resort, grounds and surrounding estuary/ wetlands are beautiful. Welcoming and friendly staff especially in the lounge area. Child friendly which was a major plus for us. The staff are very attentive and go out of their way to accomodate you. Awesome breakfasts with a good variety of options. The lady making the flapjacks/ pancakes deserves a shoutout! Absolutely delicious! Not to mention the ladies manning the egg stations! The eggs benedict and omlettes were spot on! Rooms are comfortable and clean. Overall great facilities and highly recommended. We would definitely return.

And not to forgot - the live entertainment both on Saturday and Sunday evening were great!

Arabella disappoints

The hotel is deteriorating in terms of service and cleanliness. Rooms and carpets are dirty and on the 1st morning the room was not cleaned. Bed was pulled right, but towels still on the floor, dirty bins, dirty bathroom and fridge. Overall poor cleaning and condition of room. Went to 5th floor for coffee and waited for ages with no waiter to be located. Eventually she rocked up and we were served with no apology or smile or in fact any emotion. Food generally not bad, however bad experience with fish not being the usual fresh good quality. Restaurant staff are friendly but not very efficient. Never seen so many guests waving hands to no avail. Rather disappointing considering the fact that we are frequent visitors to the hotel. Really hope the overall service improves and matches the star-grading.

Horrible, firstly the room we booked with the view we didn’t recive on arrival then we had to wait for another room which wasn’t even fully prepared along with not being cleaned up to standards. Found hair inside my food, within the 10days of different hotels and my travelling in the last 5 years the worst I have stayed in so far very low standandarda I don’t rate this place at all.

We went to the Arabella to celebrate my 40th birthday, I booked two rooms via hotels.com
The overall stay was disappointing. The food at breakfast and dinner was nearly inedible and way over priced. The restaurant staff were very unfriendly to such a point they told the children to \"sit down and be quiet\", I mean really a 2 and 4 year old . . . .if they don't want children don't advertise it as a family friendly hotel with children's club
The handles on the bathroom doors were falling off, not security lock on the inside of the one bedroom door. The toilet was not clean in the one room so I had to call housekeeping . . unhygienic and disgusting.
I will never visit this hotel again nor will I promote it as a holiday destination . . .
It was a terrible letdown in celebrating my birthday!

The general experience was satisfactory. The suites, spa and receptions areas are very clean. The suites could do with a soft-makeover which is way overdue.

Dinner at the A-la-cart restaurant was reserved a week in advance, confirmed at check-in and again checked once I was in my room.
When we arrived for dinner, we were seated in the buffet restaurant between an extremely loud an rowdy group of conference attendees. Only once I voiced my dismay, was the A-la-cart opened and we were seated there....soon to be joined by 3 other tables.
And even in this restaurant a peaceful meal was unattainable since the noise from the buffet restaurant was overwhelmingly loud.
While I fully appreciate that a hotel biggest income is from hosting conferences, it can NOT be done at the expense of the other guests who are ALSO paying a full rate.

Thank you - our stay in Arabella has been amazing. Just surpriced by all the kids that also visit the Hotel. The public areas were very noicy - kids crying and screaming all the time. Defnitely not a venue for a romantic weekend. I would like to suggest that you maybe have private area for the parents with kids... it is such an awesome venue - 5 star service... and then the kids spoil it all for the couples who dont have kids. One of the best Hotels I have stayed in - amazing staff, the best Spa experience.... but to many screaming kids🙈🙈🙈🙈

Great gem in the gorgeous South Africa.

This is a lovely exclusive hotel, set overlooking a lagoon and with a golf course wrapped around, it also has two lovely tennis courts and a gorgeous pool area.
The staff were all excellent and also friendly. When we asked for a late check out they were happy to oblige.
Now part of the Marriott group, although not fully switched over st the time of our stay.

A piece of glass was in my food and discovered whilst eating and management has ignored this...Multiple emails have been sent to Louis,wayne and Michael and hey have decided to shove this under the carpet.

Please be careful when eating at their Jumani restaurant and dont expect anything to be done by management if you happen to get injured at their hotel!

I stayed there with my disabled son, a facility we had used several times in the past. It was a refreshing experience to find staff being amazing in their attentiveness towards our needs. Although we did not ask for too much, what we did was provided with grace and courtesy. This hotel accommodation is rather dated but its location and service make up for that deficit.

We stayed overnight at Arabella as a mid trip treat. My husband played golf in the day we left. I was treated to a surprise treatment in the spa. We spent a day by the lovely pools and ate in the buffet restaurant as the main restaurant was closed. The quality of the food was very good, although there wasn’t a lot of atmosphere.

What a stunning location! Really beautiful and very peaceful - I can see why people would live on this resort (there is a separate residential area).
The hotel itself has an incredible view, both inside and out - the entrance and bar (the ground floor - even though the hotel is upside-down) is stunning.
The room was as expected and comfortable, if a little dated and scruffy if you look too closely.
The restaurant (for dinner at least) is split in two, with an a la carte menu on one side and a buffet on the other; we had the buffet which was OK but actually the selection wasn't as good as it first appeared. Lunch was very nice, and breakfast (on which all hotels should be judged!) was average.
The staff were absolutely amazing, and couldn't be more helpful or friendly.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel, even though a few things could be improved.

The Arabella Hotel and Golf course are top quality venues. Staff if great and the service is good.There is room for improvement though. It was not possible to have a cocktail or glass of wine outside, despite it being a great sundown evening, nor was it possible to have breakfast outside, despite it being a glorious morning. The a la carte restaurant was good but could be better (both in terms of design and ambiance, as well as quality of the menu) to match the quality of the whole hotel.

This hotel has seen better days. General maintenance is desperately needed. The brochure in my room was very old. Our bed base had a hole in it. There was only one teaspoon in my room. The mini bar is very basic.
This is a beautiful location. The golf course is top notch.
The staff is very friendly.
For what I paid for my stay, I must say I accepted more of my room. Not good value for money.

Pleasant stay, very secure grounds (which include private residences and a golf links). Good menu and service, good facilities. Although situated far from a major road, the road noise was profound when one opened the sliding door for fresh air - a constant traffic roar throughout the night.

The hotel has a fantastic golf course and has views to kill for - unfortunately the hotel itself is \"tired\" and is in need of renovations especially the rooms.
Although there are some staff are very good, the majority are sulky and appear to be disinterested in their jobs.
We have been going there for several years now but only for the golf - the hotel has been deteriorating every year - now that Marriot Hotels is involved we expect that things will improve.
Only time will tell!

Good experience apart from dealings with Reception and room condition.
Room first. There were no bath towels and one floor lamp had no bulb ('elf and safety issue in the UK).
Reception. They did not do what they said they were going to do.
Re. the towels, I telephoned twice and visited Reception once to get towels and they eventually arrived 2hours 20 mins. later. Meantime, my wife dried herself on the towelling robe!
I asked Reception if we could extend our departure time. They said they would speak with the Duty Manager and phone me. This didn't happen so later on our departure day I went to Reception, saw the Duty Manager myself and agreed a time with him.

I stayed here back in December and loved the hotel grounds and our room, very spacious with a huge balcony. the soaker tub was also nice and we enjoyed using the spa and indoor pool. the food was okay, nothing to write home about but in terms of being in a beautiful setting with good service, there wasnt much to complain about. it was also a scenic drive from cape town airport to the hotel, a bit far but a great way to see more of south africa..kleindmond is amazing btw!

Staff were poorly trained - I understand there was a strike at the time and students were covering for the normal staff. However, these students were in no way prepared for their tasks. Room service was non-existent and waiter/serving staff had no idea of how to take care of guests, let along get the orders at the restaurant correct.

A hotel that has lost its 5-star reputation

The Hotel has always had a very good infrastructure & facilities (spa, golf course, tennis court, swimming pools, lounges) for rest & relaxation. In addition, its location & serene environment makes for an ideal holiday/break. However, all these great attributes are negatively impacted with the poor level of service, the lack of proper staff training, the availability of staff in various areas of the hotel, the quality of the restaurant & food. The sun loungers available in the swimming pool area only accommodate about 40 guests - this is a problem when the hotel is at full occupancy at 153 rooms - not to mention the added frustration in the summer period where most guests want to spend time by the pool. The hotel also needs a rejuvenation in terms of its rooms, showers, general interior design. All this left a very bad taste when being charged R5000/night.

Disapppinting. Room turn down was only for one not two guest, then when we had breakfast the next morning housekeeping came and stripped the bed and left it unmade so we couldn't go back to bed as I had planned before my long haul flight.

Price of granger into hermanus was 800rand per person which is extortionate and over four times the price of a local taxi company.

Hotel was generally soulless. Over priced for what it is and generally disappointing

When we arrived, we were not able to check in after 4h30pm.
We had 2 rooms booked, a family and were placed on separate floors???
After complaining, we were moved however we had to pay a surcharge.
The restaurant was super expensive for what you got and the reception staff were rude.
When we checked out on the 8th, reception were not ready (even though we told them the night before to please plan invoices) Hotel was not busy and yet the service and attitude were shocking.

No point booking in advance.

We booked a 3 day Easter weekend on the 25 January 2016, 2 months ahead of the arrival day 25th March 2016. We felt a little agrieved that we were assigned a room on the ground floor with no view. What is the point of booking in advance ?Then when we check in we are allocated the worst room or one that is left over. WE WILL IN FUTURE BE WARY OF BOOKING INTO ONE OF YOUR OTHER BRAND HOTELS

This is a beautiful hotel in a very lovely natural setting. The overall facilities are lovely as is the golf course. The staff was kind and helpful. The only issue is that the food is quite average. I would have expected better from this facility. The breakfast buffet was ok but the dinner was really trying too hard to be very fancy and failed in this respect. We were looking for good family food but the restaurant could not deliver on this. We had dinner and then had to order simple room-service food to get what we were looking for. Overall, I would return to this hotel but would not use the main restaurant.

A first class hotel in a beautiful location. Wonderful views, and excellent service from friendly and helpful staff. We found the travel desk particularly good. Food good but not exceptional. Buffet was very humdrum and often cold.
Magnificent golf course in tiptop condition. Expensive, but worth it.

Not great if you are travelling with children

We enjoyed our stay, just a pitty that the children are not allowed in the warm indoor swimming pool, the outside pools are freezing. Kids sofa bed also not made up during the turndown service, had to request for this a second time.
