Staff very helpful. Room was really nice. I really enjoyed the bars happy hour. It was just what I needed after a stressful day. I would definitely go back if I am ever in that area again. Wish I had the time to enjoy the pool. It looked very inviting.

We recently stayed at the Howard Johnson in Lima, and while our stay was not bad, I’m not sure we if would stay here again or if we'd try somewhere else.

There were definitely positives. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable, and one of the biggest highlights was how incredibly quiet the hotel was. It’s an older, solidly built property, and once our door was closed, we could barely hear anything outside-very appreciated by this light sleeper. I also liked the large lighted bathroom mirror and the generous counter space. The pool and play areas looked great for families with kids. We appreciated the Pizza Lounge being available for a drink or snack, and that breakfast was available.

The main issue for us was cleanliness and upkeep. Behind the mattress (on the boxspring) and on the floor behind the bed, we found dried Zyn packets, dirt, and hair, making it clear that area was not being cleaned thoroughly. The carpeting in the room also felt damp, not sure where that was coming from, but it was noticeable (we were on ground floor). The hallway carpeting could use deep cleaning or replacement due to staining, and the parking lot and sidewalks around the building had quite a few weeds that hurt the overall appearance.

Overall, the hotel has some strong positives, especially the quiet rooms and friendly staff, but it could benefit from more attention to cleanliness and maintenance.

Outlets were sparking when you plugged things in. Light kept going out in desk. Staff needs to better control unruly children destroying property in the game area. Wedding party was out of control. One guy was drunk and passed out, members from party put him on luggage rack and wheeled him around, neither staff member even cared to address these issues. Stay here a few times a year and this is by far the worst stay ever. Seems it’s getting to be a free for all to do whatever you want. For the price patrons pay, we shouldn’t have to deal with these issues. Gaming room is from 10am-10pm and they allow it to start way before time waking first floor up and letting them play after the 10pm as well. There is no supervision in pool area, children run wild. They even swim before and after 9 pm. What’s the point of having rules and set hours if it’s not enforced. Don’t tell me to get a different room on higher floor, that’s not the point. Breakfast was a joke. We ended up going out to eat instead. Very disappointed with this stay. I will reconsider staying elsewhere.

This is a convenient location for not only the Lima, OH area but also for those looking to do something at Ohio Northern University (ONU) in Ada, OH some 15 miles away. ONU has its own inn but it gets full and even when it isn't it can be expensive at times as the Inn is the only place in town. The Howard Johnson's is a great nearby alternative. The Howard Johnson's has a great enclosed entertainment area with a pool but also a pool table that can be used by guests for $1.25 a game; a air hockey table at $1 a game and ping pong for free It also has playground sets for toddlers in another area. Near various restaurants as it dues not have its own restaurant. Although it has its own great hot breakfast. Unfortunately, the last day we were there happened to be the first time after staying there several times that they had less than good food. It still wasn't terrible. A bonus is that breakfast is served until 10 AM every morning. It is a older hotel so it has issues. Even my TV was a pain to use so it isn't perfect. Overall a worthwhile stay.

It will be our last stay there though. This is not an indictment of the hotel. We utilized this HoJo's several times when we visited my son during his time at ONU. However, his time there has come to an end as he graduated last weekend. I will kind of miss the place. I will certainly miss ONU.

The rooms are clean and well maintained. Some of the common areas (hallways, stairwells) are a little run down. There are amenities like game areas and things that are nice, but if you're there on a weekend large groups tend to take them over.
I do like that there's usually hot coffee available in the lobby. The hotel is surrounded by franchise restaurants so lots of dining choices available.
The pizza bar is good and breakfast is not bad either.
My team enjoys staying here when we are in town for work

This is our second time staying at this hotel. It was pretty new almost 4 years ago. It is now showing ware. The biggest issue was the elevator. Seems like it needs a little bit more repair. And what what floods look for the phone? Oh some of the electrical sockets in our room. A couple of them did not work. Otherwise it was okay.

I believe all rooms booked through Hotels.com are first floor only. Staff was excellent. We needed to change room because we had a very squeaky bed. Im not one of those who complains so i thought we could deal with it, but we had no sleep first night. Front desk was willing to change our room to another 1st floor room right next to one of the entrances to the parking lot. I thought it would be a nuisance but surprisingly it wasnt. Didnt seem like the hotel was very busy the weekend we were there. What i did not mention to the front desk was that our bathroom in the first room was dirty. Toothpaste in the sink hair on the floor and \"those\" hairs in the tub. I was just grateful to get a good nights sleep away from the squeaky bed. Breakfast was good, pool and sauna were a plus. But just be sure you inspect your room upon arrival for those booking through hotels.com

Our Grandson found an almost empty bottle of Pepsi in the corner on the floor and hair on the sheets on the one bed. The kids had a ball at the pool and it was quite busy, but no one had cleaned any tables or emptied any garbages by the time it opened the next morning. Staff was very friendly and kind.

Hotel and staff were great. Was intimidated and cursed at and blocked in by some construction workers who felt we should have parked our trailer elsewhere. It was the front desk who told us to park there. We were told to go back to Canada by one construction worker which made us feel unsafe, so packed up at 9:00 and went to another hotel.

Handicapable bathroom was terrific! Pool nice sized and good temp... warm ..not hot or cold. Hot breakfast different every day. Bottomless coffee. Nice bar for happy hour and casual dinner. Nice business room and workout room.
Quiet as I was there weekdays..the walls may be thin if it's at capacity.
For older facility it is well maintained.

We received text messages both nights from the hotel that kids were out running and being loud, our kids were in bed. Lots of places near by to eat. Over all it was clean and helpful staff we would stay again.

The pool noise was insane. Felt like I was trying to sleep in the middle of a house party. Slept with the tv blasting just to cancel all the other noise out.

Room was dated but clean. Only 1 elevator in the hotel and it was out of service upon arrival- we were on the 4th floor with luggage. It was SUPER loud due to many tournaments happening in the area- which was not the hotels fault but as result we couldn't enjoy any amenities as they were taken over by these large bookings- this hotel seems to be popular for families. I don't suggest booking a pool view if you want to relax. Overall a clean room with a decent price.

Open check in we had to switch rooms , 1st room both beds were dirty, 2nd room was also dirty , stains on bed , many hairs , dust at multiple locations in room. Some kind of bug crawling on 1 bed which we caught and brought to front desk. They told us there was nothing they could do because we booked through a 3rd party. Everything about our stay was spectacular. The hotel staff went above and beyond to accommodate our group. The front desk switched rooms for my mom who has difficulty walking, and when she left something behind in her room (twice) the housekeeping supervisor recovered those items quickly. Our breakfast meals were more than adequate and we were catered to by staff in that area as well. The rooms were very clean, and comfortable. The amenities for the 5 children in our group kept them happy and entertained. It was a Christmas gathering so we rented the executive board room for privacy. Again everything for was set up perfectly! I would highly recommend this hotel for families, if I could give them 10 stars I would!

We had a great room location on the ground floor, near a side exit, near we parked. The plumbing in that part of the building was very “musical” all night. We also listened to the room HVAC “groan” at the end of each cycle. The desk lamp was so loosely held together that I was afraid to turn it on. Although I chose a 2 bed room, my husband and I struggled with the small size of the bed. Unfortunately the bed we chose had also been made “short sheeted”. Although hilarious in college, we were not amused.
