Amazing and helpful staff.
Location is perfect, 100m from the Phea Gate and only 15 minutes to/from the airport.
Hotel itself is tired and in need of refurbishment, however the room was large, comfy bed and clean linen and towels, room cleaned every day.
Was not inpressed with breakfast, we only went once, but next door there is a French bakery and there are several other places which are better and cheaper.
All in all we enjoyed our stay, would go back.

This hotel is absolutely stunning! From the moment you step in, you have a 5 star treatment from all the staff. It's super well located, very closed to Thapae Gate, with walkable distance to the Sunday Market, Night Bazar, 7eleven and the temples.
The room was spacious, the bed was extra comfortable, the shower pressure was great, it was extremely clean and smelled lovely!
The hotel also counted with a pool and a spa area, where you can have a relaxing massage.
The staff really takes care of you at all times! I strongly recommend staying here!

This hotel is very well located on the east side just outside Chiang Mai's old town. You can walk to Tha Pae gate which is very famous for photographs and that takes you into the old town. We got a room on the 6th floor with a beautiful view of the old town and Doi Suthep in the background - would definitely recommend asking for a room facing the west.

The hotel is nice with a great location for NewYears Eve party and fireworks. The place is dated (pool, spa, fitness, bathroom, windows) but provided good service when requested. For the price of the hotel, breakfast should be included. I would stay here again, especially for New years Eve. The Sunday Night market is without 5 minutes.

Hotel was old and dirty. Shower had pink mold growing and yellow stains throughout. Bed sheets were extremely itchy. Bath towels consistently smelled bad and had black spots. Cleaning staff was also inattentive and ruined my phone charging cable by rolling a bed onto it. The only nice thing was the lobby.

Hotel Amora is a FANTASTIC LOCATION. Fantastic value for travelers on a budget. Service is outstanding. The potential needed improvements. The elevator music in the lobby has got to go. It's all modern music converted to elevator music and it made me want to rip my head off. The colors in the lobby and rooms could definitely be more contemporary with a paint job. During the evenings they were painting the ceilings of the lobby with a foul smelling paint. Breakfast was subpar and when I looked at it I walked back out (sausages look like hot dogs, not westernized at all with no bacon, no pancakes) and costs around $10 american or 300 BAHT. They tried putting an olive in my manhattan which the recipe they had called for. Mattress is very hard, and the shower \"half glass door\" causes the bathroom floor to fill with water. On the plus side, the hard surface floors in the room are nice for cleanliness. Overall great value for the money and the view on the street side is stellar, but this hotel is tired and needs a nap or renovation. Wifi is terrible

This hotel is perfectly located for what we wanted to do in Chiang Mai. The old town is across the road and all the important temples and markets are within walking distances. (We like to walk) The hotel itself is a bit tired and dated. However the room was big and we had plenty of space. The breakfast buffet was fine however with little ambience. Gym is small. The pool is nice however due to design of building, there is no sun after midday. Since we were out most of the day, this hotel worked well for us.

In the heart of the city.

The Amora is in an excellent location overlooking the city and waterways. The Hotel itself and staff are of a standard expected for a Hotel in the piece range of the Amora. Be prepared for bus loads of Tourists when you stay here and try go before or after them all for breakfast as it gets very frantic.

Beware... they check your room before you check out and if there are any dirty towels they charge you 200 baht. Also we called for two extra towels three times and no one ever came up and dropped them off. We called for laundry service to be done the same day and they said they would do it but than called back and said they wouldn’t. The shower and interior of the rooms are old. The shower/tub only has a half of a door so when you shower you get the floor complete soaked. The safe box in the room isn’t even bolted down so someone can come in and just take the whole box. We put the “do not disturb” sign on one day since we did not need room service and they still came in, probably looking for other things to charge you. The staff there is rude and when you call for any assistance at all, they just transfer you to another person who still won’t answer your question. The Amora is in a very fantastic area of Chiang Mai but the actual hotel is horrible.

1. Room was very clean.
2. Hotel staff were generally ok but if most could give a smile, I think it will go a long way.
3. Requested (msg to hotel during the booking) for arrival pickup at the Airport but none turned up. If the Hotel does not provide such service, what they could have done at least was to reply to my request.
4. The air-con to me was rather noisy at night and I did not get very well rest/sleep.
5. For a 4 Star Hotel, I'm quite surprised that amenities like comb, tooth brush, tooth paste, moisturizer and shaver are not provided. Luckily, I brought most of the items myself, short of the comb which I went to buy at 7-11.

Generally, the hotel was alright. The reason that I said I will not recommend this hotel is based purely on my own personal experience of not having good night rest throughout the stay (the first couple of nights were mainly due to the air-con noise but can't really explain why for the other nights (unlike my previous stays in another 4 Star Hotel and 3 Star Hotel. If there is the \"Neutral\" option, I will probably choose that.

Cheap room, antiquated amenities, pretty average breakfast buffet for other hotels I stayed at in Thailand

Staff’s English was not great; the check in process was abysmal - they told us that there were no rooms available because of overbooking despite prepaying via expedia... the way it was handled reminded me of the hungry greedy back stabbing approaches to make more money like places I have been in India. It took two hours before we got a room after countless hours with expedia on the phone.

I stayed at the Amora for two weeks on a business trip. Staff were warm and friendly, with senior staff going out of their way to make my stay exceptional. I was upgraded on arrival to a deluxe room on the 11th floor. The room was spacious, the bed and bedding just right. The daily breakfast offers a wide variety of Asian and Western cuisine, with an egg station to order. A few negatives included spotty WiFi, especially at night, no sugar substitute and a few English speaking channels. Some of the staff have limited English skills, reflecting a common problem in Thailand. The hotel boasts an in-house spa and massage, with a dedicated tour desk. Overall, this is a very nice leave. I look forward returning to Chiang Mai and again staying at this hotel.

Nice hotel close to downtown!

This was a perfect hotel for our 3 day stay in Chiang Mai. Rates was very reasonable, and price included breakfast buffet. We requested 2 rooms, and they accommodated our request for adjoining rooms. The hotel was within walking distance to the main attractions, restaurants, Thai boxing arena, and the night market. The only problem we encountered was the old airconditioning system in the room, which didn't cool when we got there. However management sent a repairman immediately, so the problem was short-lived.

When we return to Chiang Mai, we will surely stay at Amora again.

Pleasant middle of the road Chiang Mai hotel

Having stayed here before room renovations I have to say renovations are a major improvement. What hasn't improved is the attitude of the staff. They smile and give right answers but don't follow up. Point in question: I noticed that my Expedia booking showed double bed instead of two twins. Contacted hotel but could not get any help from reservations(they said they could not find my booking). Went into hotel 10 days before stay, and ended up being assured that requested change had been made. Checked in, given room with double bed!
They were able to change, but I suspect only because of low occupancy.
If you get a good price, this is a hotel in good location, with fair service and conditions, but good management could make it so much better.

Room was large, shower had plenty of hot water. Restaurant was nice and breakfast was good. Internet in room was nice and worked fairly well. But it rained the first night and water leaked through the wall socket on the table where I had put my computer. Next morning my computer was full of water, I took my computer to Computer Plaza to see if it could be repaired; no it was ruined. I asked hotel to help me with something for the loss and they refused to help with any replacement or repair cost.

We had spent a week 30 minutes out of Chang Mai and whilst it was very pleasant I had to move into town to get a real feel for the city. Amora fit the bill perfectly with all the comforts of 5 stars at a 4 star price and none of the unnecessary frippery. Our room had city views and was spotless. The pool was bracing and was in full shade by 1pm which was not ideal. The pool towels were a trifle beyond their useby date but did the job. The breakfast buffet was adequate without being exciting but it was difficult to get any friendly service for extra teabags and sweetener was not routinely supplied. I find that amazing. Special thanks to the lady at the tour desk who was marvellous in arranging day trips for us and our new found American amigos. She also negotiated a great deal for me at the hotel shop for a gorgeous silk scarf. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for its location and amenities. I did however resent having to pay for a water glass which they insisted was missing from our room on check out Cost me $1AUD but what the hey.

Great hotel, great location, good price

We stayed for 6 nights and loved it. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The air con worked very well and the bathroom was beautiful. Breakfast was delicious every morning and the food varied with different Asian and Western dishes. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect with only a minutes walk to the Tae Phae Gate and easy access to the Night Markets and loads of shops. We would definitely stay there again

Hardly a 4 star hotel. Honestly i've never slept in a worse bed in my life. The floor was softer. After the first night, we asked for another room to be told all beds in the hotel were the same. They did try and put some single mattresses (dirty and nasty) on top for our second night which made it just bearable.

Breakfast very average - all dinner time foods except for egg station. It suspiciously looked like leftovers from night before.

Cheap and centrally located, but could do better

You could definitely get a better hotel for your money. We picked it because it was right on the edge of Old City and seemed central to everything with a high enough review. I was very disappointed upon arrival to see that the actual rooms looked nothing like the pictures on the website. The lobby was nice enough but the rooms were in a state of disrepair. The carpets were old and dirty and the bedsheets were stained. The mattress felt like we were sleeping on the frame instead and on the the hot day that we checked in, it felt like the A/C did nothing to cool the room. The bathroom was so damp and dirty that the boyfriend was afraid to use at night least there were cockroaches crawling out and the front desk was slow to respond to any requests or questions. We immediately moved to Dusit Princess the next night, paid $10 more and got a whole new class of room and service. The only thing I could recommend about this place is it's central location, but then again other places work as well.

Our room on 3Rd floor was newly redecorated. So the room and the bathroom were in a good condition.

We had a nice view of Doi Suthep.

The room was clean.

A staff member came quick to check the Wi-Fi router when we complained of unstable Wi-Fi signal. He solved the problem quick.

The buffet breakfast was adequate.

Room was dirty and smelled of cigarettes, also found cigarette in room

That moved me to new room, but still smelled of cigarette smoke ,

Room was old and beat up, motel 6 would be an upgrade

Had many experiences like this when booking through Expedia , I will stay at Amora again, but never Expedia any more, can get comparable prices by dealing with the horse....

Not too bad but not too good.

We booked two room connecting superior, non smoke and include ABF. We were there at 2 p.m., and the girl at the front sent us to smoking floor which was very stink! I asked for change because we couldn't breath...Then I knew later that 4th and 5th are smoking floors!!! Then she said we had to wait for 30 minutes because they still cleanning! Good that we had something to do so we went out. Our rooms were old but it was flat screen TV. Good wifi sometimes but the staff was very good because he came quickly to look for the lights system in my room. There were no light in some parts of the room. Electric system controled by the panel at your header. Food was so so.

Nice hotel centrally located.

Very friendly and efficient English speaking staff.
Breakfast buffet very good.
Rooms are a fair size.
Outdoor pool on 2nd floor is a very pleasing area.
WiFi throughout the hotel.
Hotel staff very attentive.
This was my 4th stay here.

Excellent hotel in city cente

This is an excellent hotel for a visit to the charming town of Chang Mai. It is centrally located and has spacious rooms and excellent breakfast. The staff are extremely helpful, allowing us for example an early check-in. There are many restaurants nearby and a very good cheap eatery is only 200 m to the right of the hotel's entrance.

On the moat in Chiang Mai

Hotel lobby was elegant and impressive. Too bad that the room was a disappointment and did not match the grand lobby. It was old and needed updated, especially bathroom. Hotel should make simple changes (like new toilet seat cover and tiling).
Location on the moat was ideal for walking around city. Staff were efficient and pleasant. Breakfast buffet was very good.

Great location!

Great location- within walking distance to everything. Our bed was soooo hard it was like laying on a brick- however after a call to housekeeping they put a spongey bed topper which made the bed much better. Friendly & honest staff!

This hotel is extremely out-dated, from hardware to software. There are many other choices at similar and lower price range available. I definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel reception staff are inefficient and far from being friendly. Facilities are very old. Towels and bed sheets are like floor mop!

Unpleasant stay

It's an extremely old hotel. Wi-Fi is on and off and extremely slow. The room is spacious but the bed is as hard as sleeping on wooden floor. Towels and bed sheets have holes. Service was lousy.
