Good for business stay

It was a quick one night stay. Reception staff were very friendly and efficient. It reminded me of a American Motel in the outside block. Clean inside, hot shower and amenities so all good. Just to note the A1 is on one side and the train on the other. Lots of parking. Very good value for money. Unfortunately I arrived late so could not have a meal here. Looks like good reviews for food and looked very clean and smart in the restaurant. Would stay again.

Huge bed, in huge sparsely decorated room. Bed comfortable if you don’t mind no mattress cover.Soft pillows. Amenities Spartan. Good for one or two nights tops.

Large room with all you’d need for a short stay, but no frills. The decor is a quite bleak.
Value for money with the real bonus of private parking and a short drive from the centre of Newark or access the bi-monthly antiques fair at the showground.
Excellent Indian restaurant right on the doorstep.

Hotel chosen for location. We stayed on a Saturday night, hadn’t realised that it was an Indian restaurant and takeaway with motel style rooms next door. The car park was packed, the guy who checked us in wasn’t particularly friendly and was more interested in the customers for the restaurant. However, the room was large as was the bathroom and it was a bed for the night. Would we stay again? Probably not. I was able to move my car to a space outside the room once the restaurant had closed. It’s award winning apparently and great it’s so busy clearly deservedly so. Maybe just work on customer service for motel guests. It was cheap though so you get what you pay for! One of the takeaways being collected whilst we waited was double the price of what we paid for the room. Might revisit for a meal if we’re ever in the area again,

Heating not working in room again was off for 5 month last year . So when you check in its 10deg in room the electric heater is switched on at 6pm and its on conitinuously to try and achieve 20 deg in room . Sometimes you get 2 heaters but only 1 works.

Booking in was at the bar in the restaurant and I was requested to wait while 4 waiter's orders for drinks were satisfied. Given a key and told where the room was. The key took about 5 minutes to work but it did eventually. the key was a problem all stay. The bed side light , when used at 10-30 pm proved to be broken. I could not be bothered dressing and going to the bar to complain. The roller blind, with the bedroom light on, was nearly transparent. Other rooms had curtains. I was glad I was staying Saturday night as the main East Coast railway line was about 50m from the letting rooms and the line was closing for 36 hours at 22-00 !!! Not even any freight trains! The Indian Restaurant was excellent but a little expensive, I would stay again.

Large room with TV, 2 chairs, 2 sofas and comfortable bed, but only standard size. Large bathroom with large shower.
But nowhere to put your toilet bag, no shelving. We arrived about 5pm and there was no hot water, and only luke warm in the morning, (I understand there is a large tank and it can run out)
Easy to find on rounderbout .

We were disappointed to say the least, the mattress was badly stained see photos. The wifi was next to useless and I could not submit my reports to my Office. It was also very cold and we had to use an electric heater which omitted a strange smell. I was unable to add photos to the Site but will send them to Hotels.com

Accomodation was very reasonably priced, however the radiators never worked , they had place 1 portable heater in the room. We had to be recited from room 8 to room 6 as there was a shower issue, the water was not draing and flooded the bathroom out. Giving us another room was not an issue. I would stay there again but not in the winter.

Shocked disgusted horrified of the Ashiana Hotel

I am of Asian descent. We believe the owners of the Ashiana Hotel are of Asian descent. We booked 2 bedrooms at the Ashiana Hotel. We have travelled to many countries and stayed in 5* stars to no star hotels. We had extremely high expectations of professionalism and respectful duty to their guests. Our experiences at the Ashiana Hotel, the UK , were of shocking disgusts, disappointments. We were seriously concerned about clarity of our booking. We arrived at 9.30pm. After several phone calls, the staff responded and came downstairs to receive us. They were dressed ready for bed. They gave us the keys to our bedrooms. When we opened one of the bedrooms, there were 2 beds. One was not made up. The 2nd bed was scrambled and it had been slept in by the previous guest.Please see attached photos. The bedroom was cold, smelt musty and damp. We opened the 2nd bedroom, there were 2 beds made up. Again We had difficulties contacting the staff. So we moved the bedding from one of the bedrooms to another. The 2nd bedroom was extremely cold, smelt disgustingly musty. There was a small heater provided. Towels were damp and smelled. We couldn’t settle left before midnight. There were no toiletries as stated in the Hotel information. Both bathrooms had not been cleaned for quite sometime. The Ashiana Hotel requires immediate inspection to reassess its capabilities and performance in order for it to meet British Standards of hospitality. Nil score rate.

Ok for a 1 night stay if on a budget

We booked 2 rooms
1 for my mum and 1 for husband and I as I was doing a local race
We were given room 9 and 10
Staff were helpful and friendly
Rooms were damp smelling both rooms had damp carpets and stains on them
No bedside lights in room 10 or remote
Desk from and old office very tatty
Headboard not fixed
Bathroom needing tlc

Good points - spacious rooms and parking fine , and you cannot be too harsh when it was a cheap price we paid , so all ok for 1 nights stay but wouldn’t want to be staying for a romantic getaway or a treat

Not allowed into our paid for hotel room.

On the booking form it said to call the Hotel if you were going to check in after 11pm I did this and was assured that we could check in at any time as there would be someone on duty. On Sunday all flights were delayed at Stansted due to a power cut and to top it all the M11 northbound was closed. Delays were inevitable. As a courtesy we called the hotel to tell them of the delay and we were told we could not stay there as there was no one on duty after 11pm. We had paid for a room. Absolutely terrible service.

Clean room with 2 double beds heater and shower. Mattress squishy, bedding plentiful and clean, the mirror had fallen off the wall, the chest of drawers had a missing drawer. No soap in the bathroom and only 2 towels. There was no milk with the condiments in the room. These are all little things and did not spoil our stay but clearly they could do better.

The place was filthy, loved sharing a room with flies, service when we arrived was shocking we couldn't get in to register, checking out was even better just throw your keys in a key cupboard outside the hotel restauraunt when you left as there was no one there.
The shower had rust on it and rust round the plug hole and looked like it hadn't been cleaned, in weeks.
I wouldn't recommend this Hotel to anyone and would think twice about recommending you if this is the standard of hotels you provide, it was disgusting

Avoid!

Horrible, outdated, and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months.
A group of lads turned up in the room next door, the walls were so thin you could hear everything and woke us up until around 4am.
There’s was no one to complain to, and only a cleaner there in the morning.
Awful, I understand you get you pay for, but if that was the case then we should paid nothing.

It never quite made it.

This is primarily a. Restaurant and on check in at about 8pm it was humming.,so we presume it was a good one! Check in at that time was clearly very difficult for the staff and took just long enough to become a little irritating. The room.allocated was larger than usual at the price, and included two very comfortable double beds, but oh dear, the hotel badly needed a visit from Alex, the TV adviser to managers!. No bulb in one of the reading lights, a tatty electric heater with no instructions, a large, cold bathroom, because its towel rail source of warmth was not switched on, damaged furniture, lining paper shreds hanging from the ceiling, bathroom floor badly marked, two drinking glasses of different sizes. Every aspect showed lack of this kind of attention to detail.. Pity, we were otherwise quite comfortable. No sign of the \"Box on the wall of No 1\" where we were asked to leave the room key - had to leave it in the door because no staff on duty at 9am.

Good, spacious bedroom with 2 excellent 4’ beds and good bedding. Shower room good and roomy - in slight need of tile renovation. Disappointed no breakfast facilities as the hotel is situated away from other establishments. Biggest problem was check-in time of 5pm. We would have been charged an extra £15 per room (we had booked 2 rooms) if we wanted to check in before this time. We were attending a large tea party celebration and had travelled 3 hours so, to be able to change would have been ideal. However, we declined to pay the extra charge.
Dinner in the Ashiana was first class.

Great location. Very quiet, despite its location.
The room has adequate wardrobe/ drawers. A bedside cabinet or two wouldn't go amiss in room 1. Fabulous shower, great sized bathroom. Comfortable beds. More milk needed. We went out and bought more the following morning as we arrived back from an evening out and had a cup of tea!

Comfortable but small changes could be better

As a returning customer delighted to see rooms have received a makeover very clean and comfortable however still no bedside cabinets light bulbs missing from bedside lights
Sofa comfortable but chair for desk had a saggy bottom and was very uncomfortable
Bathroom huge but absolutely no where to store toiletries
Slight price increase not a problem but WiFi didn’t work and TV signal kept dropping so unable to watch
Blackout blinds were useful but the door has a glass panel which lets light in from street lights
Suggestions
Leave a checklist so guest can let you know when something is not working so it can be rectified
A fridge would make it better as there seems to be a lot of working people staying here like ourselves
Restaurant seems to take presidency over rooms but should not as the rooms are probably more expensive than a meal for two

This hotel was in a great area from where i need it. The room i staid in had a twin double bed and clean, really comfortable beds and also the heating worked perfectly, the shower was great as well with the bath. The staff member/ honer was helpful and also the directions inside the room regarding wifi and the key after you leave was good.

Perfect for those travelling late and with kids

Arrived really late (1am) and was met by a very plesent memeber of staff who got us the room sorted within minutes. Lots of parking which suited us for travelling with a jeep and trailer. Lovely comfortable rooms, nice and warm and clean. Highly recommended and a steal for the price.
Couldn't have asked for a better stay.

We were looking for a hotel for an overnight stay close to Newark Showground. The Ashiana fit the bill in more ways than one. The location was perfect for our needs, not far from Showground and close to Newark itself. Booking in was quick and easy. The room was part of a purpose built block in the grounds of the property (the Ashiana being a first class Indian Restaurant). The room was massive, one of the biggest I've stayed in and the ensuite shower room was equally generous in size. The room was a twin room and had two double beds which were extremely comfortable- I enjoyed a good night's sleep. The room was clean and warm and the furnishings functional and perfectly adequate. The jewel in the crown is the restaurant on site where we dined that evening. The meal was exceptional - the best Indian cuisine I have ever had and well worth the price.

We found the accommodation ideal for our requirements and very good value for money. The green safety light was a little annoying but we understand the reason for it. Trouble was it was so bright it was like we'd left a light on all night.
