Everyone we interacted with was friendly and courteous. Even the "nature view" casitas can still see the ocean, and we loved having our own private pool, although the hotel pool is beautiful, too. The adventure experiences with Jorge were highlights of the trip—we did an ebike tour and learned how to eFoil on the river, neither of which we'd ever done before. The food at the restaurants was fresh and delicious, even though the service was pretty slow. I highly recommend the quick hike down to the beach, where you can crack open a coconut with a rock and drink the water while watching the waves crash along the rocks.

We are probably not the "typical crowd" for a resort like this, we splurged on a few days here as part of a honeymoon trip this summer. We chose this place specifically for the mini private pools on the balconies at each Casita - while they are beautiful in the photos, ours (casita 12) was kind of gross in person, which was disappointing. I think it's a landscaping issue - there are beautiful Ficus trees that grow over the pools but the Ficus are being eaten by these massive beetles that jump into the pool, so while you're trying to relax you just end up getting divebombed by bugs the size of your thumb. When you consider that all additional amenities cost extra (dining, experiences, spa/massage, even the wine in the minibar), it really makes it less worth the nightly price if you can't enjoy the patio around the casita, either. The beach at the property isn't recreational, so you have to drive (I recommend Jobos or Pozo Teodoro). I will say, the staff were EXCEPTIONALLY kind - the bellhops were so friendly, the woman in the front office was so nice, etc, so the service and everything else we experienced was excellent. It is a beautiful property other than the bugs and in a great location.

We loved it! The casitas are run down and something's like a shower head didn't work and the patio door was very hard to open and close at times but they are getting ready to renovate them. The staff was amazing! The grounds are absolutely incredible. We ate at both of the restaurants. The last day my eggs were too salty and we asked for toast and got a loaf. A few days before we had omelets and sour dough toast (actual toast) it was delicious. The golf restaurant has really great sandwiches, the fries come cold and you can not pay cash. Over all we did love it! We will be back for sure!

The service for everything is pretty slow—food, transportation, etc. I would not order room service here, we did once and it was missing 3 things in the order, it was so slow and came cold. They took us to a private beach which we had a lot of fun at, and it was nice for our son. Other than that, really good food & drink. I enjoyed my time here but it’s overpriced, and the staff are not that knowledgeable EXCEPT for the bell hop guys.

Royal Isabela is just beautiful. The property, buildings, amenities and views are outstanding. The casitas are spacious and very comfortable. Staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay great. Plan on doing most of your dining at the restaurant and golf grill on site since the resort is kind of out of way. Don’t worry, this isn’t a problem because the food is excellent.
We loved our stay and hope to visit again!

This was an amazing stay for myself and my daughter. Gorgeous property, delicious food using ingredients grown on their own farm. But the highlight was truly the activities…from hiking, to secluded beaches, to paddle boarding, to surf lessons, and e-biking…this was one of the funnest and most active vacations I’ve ever had. And the guides leading these excursions are knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly patient. What an unforgettable trip!!

This was the most beautiful place I have ever stayed! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, including finding a wireless phone charger from the chef when we had an issue with our phone. From the welcome drinks in our fridge, the amazing private pool and rain shower in the casita, the incredible food at the restaurant, to the entire area being quiet and perfectly maintained, we had the most amazing time! My boyfriend and I plan to be back.

The facilities are amazing. Incredible private views. Very quiet. Paradise-like. Service under delivered on expectations. A few examples: lengthy wait for food once ordered, customer service didn’t pick up phone, no chef at golf club grill and therefore no breakfast, housekeeping forgot to restock mini bar. All signs that they are struggling with staffing. We had a wonderful stay despite these annoyances.

We absolutely loved the Casita and food was excellent. The major issue with this resort is the lack of staff. We waited for at least two hours at every single meal which also included wrong food being delivered and wrong bills being handed out. This was very disappointing. This place has so much potential with more help.

Beautiful views. The view from our room was amazing. Love the outside hot tub and opening shower doors. The only thing I didn’t like was the cleanliness. Everything in my room was dusty or completely covered with layers of dust. I went to the store to get wood cleaner and some cleaning supplies. When the house keepers came (2) of them they barely clean the floors. They didn’t even sweep or mop the bathroom. The only thing they did in the bathroom was take the trash out and some towels. I’m really picky because I suffer from allergies.

All staff were super attentive, helpful and friendly. My only deductions are because some trails have slippery mud because of heavy rain so it is more a response issue than regular maintenance. Overall it was an excellent experience and our kids loved it. Thanks.

The casita layout and amenities were nice. Every meal we had at the restaurant was wonderful but be sure that you have time for a leisurely paced meal. We had a fun lesson with the golf pro. The walking trail to the beach was nice. It is true that the casitas have noticeable wear and tear but that had minimal impact on our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Absolutely has the bones to be nice resort but was extremely run down. Just about everything in our room was broken or poorly kept. I called to have the lock on our door fixed and no one ever showed up. The pool was broken-along with half the shower. I could go on but it’s not necessary.

Restaurant service was lacking. Breakfast took over 2 hours each time- the food was great though. The other staff was accommodating but it’s disappointing because the grounds and buildings have the potential.

Overall, not worth what they are trying to charge- if I had to guess it’s under new management.

Paradise in Paradise.
Spectacular resort nestled amongst the mountains of Isabella, Puerto Rico. The casitas have thought of every amenity to ensure a peaceful, luxurious stay. The walkout shower overlooking the ocean and flora is breathtaking as is the individual plunge pool. Spacious room provides privacy and luxury. Restaurant is delicious but you cannot be rushed as service can be slow but worth the wait. Beach is 170 steps down a cliff but neighboring Jobos beach is worth the trip - surfers paradise with lots of restaurants/bars. Royal Isabela is for those that value quiet, luxury and a slower pace. I would not recommend for children as the resort is not set up for young ones and boredom will kick in disrupting the tranquility of those around them. Beautiful pools, great tennis courts and outstanding golf course. Security is very tight to ensure guest’s privacy. Pro’s - EVERYTHING THIS RESORT OFFERS, Cons/Suggestions - linen could use a refresh. Special mention for concierge workers and Manuel the bell hop and golf cart driver - they provided exceptional service. Lastly, I highly recommend renting a car as car service is costly and difficult to obtain and Uber is practically non-existent. Royal Isabela and its staff provided the most memorable birthday celebration of my life! We will be back, thank you for providing a memorable experience.

Great scenery, wonderful food, very pleasant staff, somewhat remote. There is no beach to use. Property desperately needs investment. Beautiful golf course but POORLY maintained. Real golfers will be disappointed Rooms are nice but not receiving needed maintenance. Fixtures broken, amenities unavailable. Could be spectacular. Wait to see what new owners do.

Extremely picturesque fantasy hidden beau-treasure

Watchful from top of hill the sunset left an inner beauty and glow I'll treasure for a lifetime.
The time spent was worth it, regardless was a bit on the expensive. The total privacy and
isolation from busy hotels made it super special and welcoming for any couples' wanting a
lone time and get away just to relax... I give rating of ***** (5 stars).
