This is our 2nd visit in the last year. We love this quaint hotel as it sits in its own small compound and is close to local shops, fresh bakeries and cantenes. The restaurant on site has great comfort foods. The staff is welcoming and always ready to serve your needs. The rooms are spacious and clean. It's easy to get transportation and is about 20 minutes from the airport. We will continue to Visit the Henry when in Manila!

Beautiful building, service needs improving

This hotel looks great but there are just a few key things missing
Check in is a laborious affair, seeming to take forever at all tones of the day. We checked out at 4.30am, and were kept waiting additional time whilst they “checked our room”, coming out to ask where cost hangers were... we had settled our bill the night before and were backpacking, we definitely didn’t have heavy wooden hangers in our backpacks!
Only 350ml of water complimentary per person per day - sub standard for the hotel class.
No hand towel or foot mat in the bathrooms
Also if toilet paper is not to be flushed due to plumbing, the bin NEEDS to have a lid for hygiene reasons!
Finally, the airport transfer is ridiculously overpriced - 1200 peso when regular fair is 200-250!
Unfortunate that these things held back from what is a beautiful hotel.
On a positive the bed was VERY comfy, but our king bed was two single mattresses put together, so not hugely romantic

Corner of heaven in Manilla.

This was my last night before I left the Philippines and I absolutely loved The Henry Hotel. Very comfy, elegantly luxurious and well positioned for anyone arriving or leaving the country.Would definitely go back!! Highly reommended!

Spent one night here on our way to Cebu. We love the Henry Hotel. The location is set back one block from Roxas and on a safe, quiet lot. The on-site restaurant is very nice, good food and great value.

The hotel staff are professional and frindly however, there were couple of items were taken from our room during cleaning. I don't recommend to leave your items unlocked. Also, during the checkout, I noticed that they have double charged us for one meal. After contacting them they did however corrected the problem. The management tried to look into the issues but we were not satisfied

There is a certain charm here. A very worn facility with just the right repairs and updates. Nothing feels new and modern, while it really is where it counts. We stayed in the garden room which has a more modern vibe and a camper like layout. If you like privacy and personal space this room is better left for someone else. Its garden location is in the public garden, that said there we had no privacy issues and it was quiet. The toilet area is seperated from the bedroom with a sliding glass door, if you have performance anxiety not the best room choice. The outside shower is great, with flow, pattern and pressure that makes it difficult to remember the obligations of water conservation. The AC works flawlessly and sleep was bliss on amazing soft sheets and fluffy comforter. The bed itself is firm but comfortable and though i regularly sleep on an ultra soft bed this was good and probably a treat for my spine. Lastly the staff here has mastered the art of making the guests feel at home. Special thanks to the front desk and cleaning crew for making us comfortable for our unavoidable early arrival and for the security officers assistance in getting us a trike to the bank for cash and back.

I woke up with a lot of either bed bug or mosquito bites. I told the front desk and they told me to dial number 0 on the phone but why couldn’t they just send housekeeping from their reception lobby desk? Anyways, I called 0 but they never answered the phone. I even took pictures of my bites but the reception male employee never attempted to accommodate me or resolve the issue. I stayed there April 30th to May 1st. I checked in early on the 30th and got breakfast and ordered beef tapa with scrambled eggs, garlic rice, and house fries. The next day they gave me same meal with fruit and bread. This issue is merely about principle because the server stated he gave me the same exact meal yesterday but did not.

Other than the service, the pros were a working shower, fridge, comfortable bed (except waking up with bites), and walking distance to the Main Street. The cons were no gym, no elevator, lack of genuine service, no professionalism, and no friendliness of staff, lack of following up with guest requests, WiFi connection was not up to par, and the safe was not able to reset for usage.

Staying at the Henry feels like I'm a guest at a private home back in the days of gracious old Manila. I needed a special mouthwash for a sore throat and they sent a staff to the pharmacy to get it for me. That is personalized service at its finest. Surrounding the property is like a botanical garden, with the smell of frangipani flowers wafting in the air. That old acacia tree shades the patio area and cools the air while enjoying an afternoon tea. There's no crowd and no casino and I haven't met an annoying guest. There is a camaraderie among guests when we are at the hotel restaurant because it's so intimate. I love the art deco tiles there. Even their gift shop is unique, nobody minding the store, just leave the payment in a box. This definitely is not a Las Vegas type posh hotel but I would not stay anywhere else. This is my home away from home.

Henry hotel is a leafy oasis in the busy noisy city of Manila. The garden is beautifully kept with the many lovely trees and plants which are lit up at night with fairy lights. The room we had was clean and spacious with a good comfortable bed. The food at the restaurant is tasty and good quality. Only 20 mins drive to the airport which is handy.

It's secluded and nice.

Would have given it a 5, but had to wait over 1hr 15min after my check-in time for the room. I arrived early. So decided to have lunch to wait for the room to be ready. Took my time eating.

Room was ready, but it wasn't the room I signed up for. So they had to prep the bigger room. (They said would take another 15 minutes) but took an extra 30 minutes on top. Hotel was nice, but I don't recommend for elderly people. It is an old structure built in the 40s. No Elevators. Had to escort my mom to see the pool/garden because the the driveway is rocks. Have to be careful. Also had to help them upstairs as there are no stairs. Also, not within reasonable walking distance to see things. (i.e. the mall). You'll need a taxi or grab to venture outside the property. Staff friendly. This is a secluded place you will want to stay at if you don't mind the price and just want to get out of feeling like you are in Manila. Place felt very safe. Properly looks very nice for pictures. Rooms have strong AC and nice big clean bathrooms. Would suggest wearing lots of mosquito lotion/spray if you plan on staying in the pool area. Lots of mosquitos outside there.

The beds and pillows were probably the most comfortable I stayed in during my 1 month in the Philippines. Between 6 hotels, & 4 islands, this definitely had one of the most comfortable beds/pillows. Was a nice place to stay and de-compress before my long flight home.

WiFi fast. Food is not cheap here.

Conserving Manila’s heritage at its best.

The hotel is a rare find. The place is full of charm, luxurious and quite unique for Manila. The service is excellent. The location is a short taxi ride away from the Airport, malls and restaurants. It feels very secured inside the hotel compound. In fact, it is so secured, it feels like my old days working inside United Nation compound in Sierra Leon (I mean it in a good way). What I’m most impressed is the hotel greenery and the effort given in conserving the old mansion.

Oasis in the middle of Manila

This is a gem of confort, quietness, in the middle of the rumble which is the traffic noise in Manila. You get the feeling that you crossed to a dimension just next door. The hotel is awesome and the staff is super courteous. After a couple of days they all greeted me by name and knew my preferences. This is my new home in Manila, coming back in just a few days.

A hidden oasis of tranquility in the center of Busy manila. Very hospitable accommodating staff. Beautiful pool. Charming scenery. Bright and very airy within a charming compound. Instead of one monstrous building- rooms are in several beautifully restored homes. Compound is quiet. Tucked away from hustle and bustle. Art shop in the compound a plus. I think they have a few \"artists in residence there\"

For foreigners, neighborhood can be intimidating to walk to and out of- so consider taking a taxi cab or Grab to and from hotel. Henry Hotel not (yet) well known by taxi drivers so make sure you have address with you, sketch of location might be preferable.

This is a beautiful hotel with plenty of character and the staff are very friendly.
Our room was large and comfortable with all the main toiletries required. The onsite restaurant where you can have breakfast had a lovely selection of options.

The hotel itself is set behind guarded gates and feels incredibly safe - we didn't venture much into the area immediately outside but selected this hotel based on its proximity to local sights, food, airport - and used a local taxi app to get around.

The Henry hotel is a very friendly and welcoming place with lovely helpful staff. The gardens are beautiful, although the swimming pool looked a bit cloudy. The room (we stayed in the 'garden room') was small with limited space for clothes, but the bed was comfortable and everywhere was very clean. I think they advertised the room as spleeping up to 3 people but that would have been too squashed. The garden room is a separate wooden building in the garden, not attached to the main hotel. The food was very nice, especially the breakfasts which had a good selection for all tastes. Wifi worked fine. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is located in Pasay, only 10-15mins drive away from Mall of Asia (this mall is huge and has everything you need) there is alot of restaurants near the hotel and most of them are international and alot of varieties.

the hotel itself was amazing, security check in every entry and exit and extremely safe.
i was welcomed in a very nice way, both Dem & Jay was a huge part of making our stay memorable.

definitely you cant miss this hotel, and i will for sure be back.

The only comment I can make for improvement is that I found the bed quite hard. The food in the restaurant was great and the pricing was reasonable. The service was top drawer. With a slightly different sleeping arrangement I would have raved about the place. However, this is a place that's quite a bit better than average.

A Delightful Experience

A wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, until my departure, the service was excellent. The old, quaint building, with all of it charm were a reprise from the hustle and bustle of Manila. I was told by one of the staff the buildings were used by General McArther's officers before they fled from the Japanese at the beginning of WWII, which made even that more interesting. I would definitely stay there again.

I've been coming to the Henry for several years because secluded, nice grounds and staff. Rooms are clean and quite nice. However, the restaurant have very limited choice available and expensive. Menu hasn't changed in years .... I asked and I am not the only guest to have complained and the hotel does nothing about it! I saw a Jolibee bike bring in food and so I would say come stay at Henry but plan your meals out (or get food delivered!).

Unfortunately for me, I was only staying at The Henry for one night. I would have loved to stay longer. The site is lovely, and the staff attentive without being overbearing. I spent a pleasant hour in the Art Gallery, and the selection of quality products in the gift shop saved me from going to the mall! Dinner was nicely done, with the vegetables in my Salad Nicoise the perfect amount of crisp. The wait staff dealt with two little white kitten/cats humanely by using a small squirt bottle to discourage them from begging for dinner... turns out they belong to a group of cats the owner has, and are well fed! My 4:30 am wake up call was a real person, gently informing me it was time to get up, not a sterile recording. As I left my room and moved to reception to meet my driver, I heard the nuns next door singing the morning services. All in all, an excellent stay. I will stay again when in Manila. Special recognition to Vince at the Front Desk-- he was a fount of information about the history of the property and told me about the Art Gallery & Furniture Museum. He's delightful and adept at his work-- the most pleasant experience I've had at any Front Desk/Reception during my six weeks in Asia.

Bring your earplugs -- this oasis is a mirage

Henry is a quaint lodging in an old military compound, as other reviewers have stressed, but to say it is a refuge from the noise and pollution of Manila is simply not true. I have stayed in about 20 hotels in Manila over the last 5 years and Henry is unquestionably the noisiest. And for obvious reasons: It is an old building with thin windows on a busy street in the flight path of Manila airport! Jeepneys rumble outside your window from 5 am to midnight and motor bikes buzz by incessantly, with the usual din of horn honking punctuated now and then by the roar of planes passing overhead. And my building (the 300 numbers) was not even the one closest to the road. I hate to think what a nightmare the 100 building is. Fortunately, my promotional deal included a free bottle of wine (a decent Chilean merlot), which helped justify the price of the room and deaden my concern with the decibel level. Insider tip: Two comparable highrise hotels on Roxas Blvd make for a quieter stay and shorter commute to and from the airport.

Like a sanctuary in a busy city but lost its edge

I came to The Henry several time 2/3 years ago and now came back for 3 days.. still has impossible to open ground coffee sachets in room but the cafetiere / french presses are old & faulty & so coffee full of grouts. The restaurant is nice but still has limited choices for dinner. Most annoying of all is that when on 2nd day I had lunch, many wedding guests kept taking photos and talking loudly near my table and breakfast time and the 3rd day breakfast many people kept walking past close to my table going to the art gallery nearby. The Henry selling point are its beautiful grounds away from the busy city traffic .... but the restaurant experience somewhat spoilt. Breakfast is nice though and the rooms quite good. Internet is good. Shame the Vintage Car got taken away ... it used to be parked outside and looked good.

Peaceful and relaxing stay. Was taken by surprise with the decor like going back in time. The bathroom was nice and updated. Super friendly staff they all seemed happy to be there. Only negative no elevator for second floor luggage but staff assisted. Was difficult to flag down at taxi but staff used grab and got us service.

It wasn't the quietest place we have ever stayed in, as the street noise is a bit much, but it is an older wooden property, and that comes with the charm. Shangri-la in the middle of a busy city

The hotel was built in 1948 and it has an opulent detail of high ceilings, lovely floor tiles, but again it has all the wonderful amenities of today.
The personnel is very courteous, and nice. The breakfast is good and the restaurant staff is also fantastic. I feel back in place full of tradition, memories, you can hear the birds, the tranquillity of the grounds, invites you to get up early and spend sometime in the garden.

Spent one night at the hotel, which would have been good if it wasn't for the additional costs incurred. Just the printing costs alone ($20 for 30 pages) were 1/3 the nightly rate for the room and exorbitant. Felt like extortion; I've never paid such a high rate at a hotel (many print for free) and there are no other alternatives around. Same goes for the cost breakfast, with no alternatives around

Nice quiet Hotel within the vibrant Manila. Not far From The LRT station Libertad from where you can easily reach the bursting downtown district of Malate or the crowded Chinatown.

Am oasis in a bustling city.

Friendly staff and very helpful. The food on the restaurant is delicious and quite good value for money.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Although the hotel is located in busy Pasay, the room was quiet.

The grounds are well maintained and the pool is delightful after a busy day sightseeing.

A unique hotel (history!) which is great for a getaway. The staff is wonderful and the facilities are beautiful. While the room felt a little \"cold\" or rigid at first, it was a very comfortable room which we quickly loved. Little items, such as the staff checking the taxi for items we may have left in it were comforting and added to the sense of security and completeness which the hotel provided. While not directly on the \"main strip\", it is convenient to MOA via the hotels twice daily shuttle, a short taxi ride or 1-2 jeep rides.

Great Hotel

Stay was really good . Hotel is quiet and feel like an oasis in the city . My room was almost perfect .
You can hear people walking above you so better book upper floor . Towels were used and must be changed otherwise everything was smooth and staff was impeccable . Had small issues with Wi Fi at first but immediately fixed as service was really good . Cleaning personals were very loud in the morning .
I'm writing all of these because I want this place to be perfect as it deserves to be . Food at the restaurant is good but a bit expensive for the Philippines even comparing to Green Belt in Makati . Did'nt like so much the area because there is nothing much around but again the hotel is beautiful , and for this I will come back again . If they care about their customers they should change those old towels and do something for the food price .

Outstanding choice close to Manila airport

We did not want an enormous, modern airport hotel for our introduction to Manila. When my search led me to the Henry Hotel I was enthused and excited. We were completely delighted and satisfied so we booked our return and last night in Manila at the Henry Hotel, too. The restaurant, Apartment 1B, is really good, for all meals. We did not use it, but it was nice that it has a pool.

What a superb brilliant find of a hotel !

An Oasis in the middle of one of the worlds busiest cities.
Staff were very friendly , detailed about the hotel and genuinely friendly.
Great service, peaceful and tranquil, clean and tidy.
Great food.
Next time I land in Manila I will be booking in again - and no doubt explaining to Taxi drivers actually that the hotel does exist (its that well hidden taxi drivers were not aware of it - if you do taxi there then tell the driver the number is very visible on FB Harrison)
Easy for Asia Mall, Airport.

Colonial Hotel in BAD location

Eventhough the staff and the room were ok for this hotel, the location is so dangerous ,dirty and very difficult to walk around. The area where it is located the hotel is very poor and it is impossible to walk around because you can get robbed. So our nights were really boring staying in our room.

An Oasis in the Heart of Manila

It just doesn't get much better than this. Manila is a crazy busy city, but as soon as you pass through the gates of the Henry Hotel it's like being transported to a private resort of villa. The property is gorgeous, and the staff went out of their way to explain the history and renovation details. If Gen. MacArthur were alive today he would stay at The Henry Hotel (although you half expect him to come walking down the lane with a cocktail). It's definitely like being transported back in time to pre-war Manila.

Rooms are large, amenities wonderful, staff attentive to every request, lovely restaurant on site...as I said it just doesn't get any better than this.

Nostalgic Hotel in the City

This is a nice, small clean hotel in the heart of Manilla & close to the airport. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. There is a nice shop on the property, in which I bought things from. My only grip is the shuttle to & from the airport is pricey at PP $1050.00. I took the shuttle to the hotel, but a taxi to the airport at PP $150.00. Even if you tipped the Driver PP $100.00 you're saving PP $800.00. That's a lot there.

The ad said they had airport shuttle but there was no airport shuttle
The ad said they had a free mall shuttle
It was a shuttle at 10 AM and 3 PM with no return shuttle
Only reason we book the hotel was for the airport shuttle Not a big deal but Why have these two things in your ad if you done have them
Water in pool looked cloudy and leafs. Not very inviting

Great getaway place

This is becoming one of our favorite hotels to go to when we just need to relax but stay in the city. The compound is quiet and very relaxing because of their gardens. I like the vibe of the hotel too. The only downside for me is that you cannot request for a pitcher of water to be brought to your room. They told us that they can just send a glass of water. Also, the cabinet do not close properly. You have to push it several times to close the doors.

T'was a good stay except...

It would have been a perfect five if their AC worked properly especially in that hot summer day. We were awaken by sweat in the middle of the night and we could not get the room cooled off despite several adjustments. That aside, the hotel was unique and very clean. The restaurant was ok and a bit pricey.

The Hidden Gem in Passay

The staff was absolutely amazing from the moment we checked in. The food in the resto was very good with outstanding service. The gardens were well kept. I would never expect this beautiful treed facility in the middle is Passay. We also has a nice afternoon visiting the art gallery and furniture store on the site.

It is a typical European style hotel with smaller rooms. But, they were very nicely decorated. We will be back.
