The staff were wonderful, and the room was clean and comfortable. We only stayed one night but wished we had booked a longer stay. The breakfast buffet was excellent and absolutely worth it. The location is very convenient, with a bus stop right outside and plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

We liked the hotel but noisy in the hallway with other guests talking at night. The restaurant was ok- needed to be where other restaurants are. I would stay at the other locations. Though we had access to a supermarket.

Glass toilet / shower room door gives you no privacy.

Nothing to do in the immediate vicinity ( except Nijo castle) but well placed in the centre of other beauty spots for easy travel to and from.

Had to pay an additional 400yen tax on arrival - not sure why, I’ve been travelling around Japan and no other hotel required this, plus I paid taxes on booking also.

Had a great stay here for 3 nights with 2 adults, 2 kids. The room was comfortable, immaculate, well equipped. My only complaint about the room would be the fridge temperature - it turned everything to ice by the morning. Great for bottles of water to take out for the day, not so much for left over snacks.
We did not use the spa area although the option was available. The breakfast choices were amazing, and they managed the volume of people well.
An 8 minute walk from the station, bus stop practically just outside the front door - great travel links.
Really great hotel, would firmly recommend!

Was a big room and the breakfast was really good, but the completely glass bathroom door was super weird. They gave us a “privacy screen” but it didn’t cover even half the glass. Also odd for a hotel with so many foreign guests to have so many English mistakes on signs and not allow tattoos in the big bath they advertise. felt rather old fashioned.

The Rooms are not well sound proofed with lots of noise from other rooms and hallway coming into the room and passing trains

Food in hotel is poor. First night for convenience we paid the ¥7000 for two buffet meals and all the hot food was cold or barely warm and very low quality/quantity available. It was the first time I felt I needed to complain to the staff about something in Japan. We had breakfast included in our stay and it was ok, there are not many options nearby but once again most food was cold or like warm - but coffee on tap and great breads and topping

While it took a bit to figure out how to send my checkin luggages (one being a snowboard carrier) transported via Yamato Transport to KIX airport, the staff helped a lot filling out the forms for me and made sure the luggages would arrive the day I checkin for my flight.

Public bath was a much needed amenity and same with washer/dryer. Needless to say, the room was comfy but maybe on the small side if there’s 2 or more travelers.

Transport to various sights was most convenient by bus.

We loved our stay at Urban Hotel Kyoto Nijo Premium. It was fairly central to all the things we wanted to do, staff was friendly, and the rooms were nice. We opted for the buffet in the morning and it did not disappoint. The train station is a very short walk down the street and it passes right by a grocery store, so after we were out all day, we could grab something on the way back to the hotel. It's also very close to a combini.

Exactly what you’d expect.

This hotel is comfortable and nice. However, for those foreign tourists, be aware that in Kyoto you have to pay extra tax when arriving at your hotel, this isn’t clearly outlined by hotels.com which I think is extremely user unfriendly. Be aware, we had to move rooms due to a cockroach in our hotel room, but the staff were helpful and moved us to a bigger suite which was kind.

Only thing I didn't like was the dryer is not very strong; clothes did not fully dry and we had to take clothes to nearby coin laundry to fully dry it. The hotel itself was very nice & spacious for a typical Japanese hotel. The staff were very courteous and helpful. This hotel is conveniently located within a 5 minute walk from the JR subway station so if you’re traveling to various site seeing areas, it’s easy to catch the subway or train. The only issue that we encounter were the beds. The beds were very uncomfortable. We stayed 4 nights at this hotel, and each morning, we woke up with a stiff neck and aching back. My next visit to Japan, I would choose a different hotel for this reason alone.

The room is crazy small, which is common for Japan. What the problem? The bathroom has a thin glass door. If you want any privacy from a partner staying in the same room while you….use the restroom, that won’t happen. You need to be comfortable sharing EVERYTHING.

Guys, this hotel is crazy!! 3 star hotel but delivers 5 star service!!! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is awesome and quiet, not too touristy but only a few minutes walk from JR which you can access to many sightseeing place easily.
this is certainly one the of best hotels i have ever stayed , if you stay there for a couple of nights you can tell they go out of their way to make extra effort.
Dont forget to enjoy the bathhouse on top floor!!

コンパクトながらも机や鏡等使い勝手がいい、ベッドは広い、リーズナブル、清潔なお部屋です。二条駅からも近いですし、隣はコンビニ、歩いて5分以内にスーパーとドラッグストアもあります。千本旧二条のバス停が目の前にあって便利です。アメニティは最小限（例えば櫛やコットン等はなかったです、フロントにあるかも）。エアコンが古いお部屋でその風の臭いがひどかったのですが、すぐ別部屋をご用意くださいました。そこのエアコンはそこまで古くなかったので臭いは全く問題なかったです。

what's with the glass door?

Good location,close to JR line, a big supermarket and nice restaurants. The onsen in the hotel was lovely. The room was really nice apart from the glass door of the bathroom which left us with little privacy. We ended up putting a sheet over it. You could hear everything though. Breakfast was quite expensive so we ended up buying our own in the 7/11 beside the hotel.

The hotel is in a short walking distance from Nijo train station and Nijo subway station. Nijo train station is 2 stops on a local train from Kyoto Station, or one stop for. Kyoto Station is you get a rapid train, and it costs 190 Yen per ticket between Kyoto station and Nijo. Nijo Subway is 4 stops away from Keihan Subway which is in/ near the popular Gion area, and tickets cost 210 Yen per trip for four stops. There is a handy supermarket between the Nijo station or subway and the hotel. We got many good value bento boxes, sashimi packs and Japanese sweets there. Check in was very efficient. The room was comfortable and cleanand quiet. On the seventh floor, guests have free use of the spa facilities. The women’s spa room has a pass code which is changed every day. There is a cafe/dining area on the first floor (ground floor). This hotel is good value for money. Check out was very fast. They also offer a phone with free wifi and phone calls which you can take with you on your daily trips around town. Wifi in the room was very good. It is a safe area, and not too crowded or touristy.

This hotel is comfortable. The bathroom is not as tiny as other hotels too. You can take a JR, subway or bus and there are convenient stores, restaurants, pharmacy and supermarkets there. The location is really good. However, the entrance design is weird. Why is the hotel entrance so inward compared to the restaurant hotel?

Location: 5 minute walk off the Nijo station. Didn't need a taxi. Neighborhood has all different types of ethnic restaurants so variety is plentiful.
Apartment: standard small Asian beds. Surprised apartment included bath robes and slippers.
Staff: Extremely accommodating. The map of the neighborhood is amazing.
Breakfast: Very light breakfast. Local Japanese breakfast. You need a ticket have breakfast (make sure you get the tickets when you check-in. The front desk didn't give me any at check-in but asked for them two days into my stay)
Overall: Very affordable and very high customer focus. No wonder you have to book well in advance to find rooms to stay here. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel in Kyoto

We really enjoyed my stay at Urban Kyoto Nijo Premium. The hotel was 5 mins walk from Nijo JR station so convenient to get to sightseeing places. There was also a bus stop in front of the hotel for JR bus directly to the Gold temple and a big supermarket nearby. The hotel was in excellent condition and very clean. Staff were lovely and good wifi. The room was just enough for 2 people with suitcases but this is common in Japan.
We enjoyed the breakfast as they had a good range of Japanese and Western food (plus local Kyoto specialty) and some of the dishes get changed each day. It was also convenient to have washing machines and dryers available. We would definitely stay here again.

Almost next door to Nijo metro station and meters away from the Castle moat itself, 7 minutes by train from Kyoto Station, the location could not be any more central than this. No need for public transport on your first sightseeing area, with the Castle, Imperial Palaces and Gion all in the row at walking distance from each other. Also meters away you have a large supermarket, then a smaller one near the train station, and an entertainment mall right at the other side of the train station. The property itself was nice, very comfortable although small rooms of course, like almost anywhere in Japan unless paying the premium for space. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional, and seemed to enjoy talking to us. The breakfast was really nice with a good choice, mixed of western and Japanese products. The decoration and care of the entire property was immaculate, and so was the incredible new electronic toilets, that was fun to use! I will for sure recommend to anyone, all my friends and for sure will be my prime choice whenever I return to Kyoto.

Good facilities, but unpleasant room

The hotel had some perks, it was close to the train station and Nijo Castle. had pleasant staff and a huge shower. The public bath was nice, however we would have appreciated it if they allowed tattoos in there, as my husband missed out on the experience. The room itself though was terrible. It was not sound proof at all, so all night we could hear trains, traffic and people walking and talking in the corridor outside the room. It was very small, the fridge was very noisy and the glass door on the bathroom meant that that all night we could see the flashing lights from the bidet. In the end we were unable to get a good night sleep during the whole 5 nights we were there.

Convenient location next to Nijo station

Nice hotel very clean and looks quite new. Staff are friendly and polite even though there was bit of a language barrier. Rooms are very small BUT modern. Breakfast was plentiful they have a small variety of western foods hot and cold and a bigger variety of Japanese style foods.
The hotel is located around 200 metres or a bit more from the nijo subway entrance. In Walking distance to nijo castle and easy access to the other attractions from the Nijo subway. the hotel also has supermarkets very close by and variety of eateries mostly Japanese with a couple of western food eateries available.

Hotel is plain. Clean. Nothing special. Poor wifi. Single ply toilet paper. Fa from everything. Not much of any Restaurants. Thankfully Life Supermarket nearby to save us. Kyoto hard to get around as only buses are used. Have many stops and unpunctual. Wasted lots of time. Would not recommend visiting Kyoto.

The hotel is about 8 mins walking from Nijo JR station, and close to the hotel there are a huge supermarket and some restaurants. There is SPA at the highest floor of the hotel and it is great. Overall, the staying experience is great, except Wi-Fi signal at my room (middle of the hallway) is very weak, and I cannot connect to it at all.

Very clean hotel, and the spa on the 7th floor is a bonus after a day of walking around Kyoto. Breakfast is quite varied and good choice. Staff are very helpful. Non smoking hotel but they have provided a smoking room. Rooms aren't big but then in Japan you don't really expect big rooms.

Great hotel in a great location. Walking distance to the local train & subway, near the castle, local food options (including grocer). Rooms were kept at a perfect temperature, and couldn't hear any outside noises despite some well placed windows to let the sun in, in the morning.
