Pangkor Laut is a lovely place. The staff is wonderful. The big surprise was the wildlife. So fun to see a tree full of fox bats, Pied Hornbill birds, and a family of sea otters who appear at 6:AM at Spa Village. My wife says her spa treatment was the best of her life.

The food is really good, but not amazing. I understand that they are appealing to many different palates and cultures. Breakfast was top notch. Lunch was a prix fixe. They could use a less formal ala carte option, maybe a casual beach bar? Also, would recommend that they keep their bars open throughout the day. Sometimes you have to search for the open bar. Finally, the wine list is both expensive and limited. Stick to gin and tonics and Sapporo and you will do better.

All in all, a beautiful place, with amazing staff.

Breathtaking resort. The feeling and buidings are amazing, the pillar houses just outstanding and the spa area very tastefully designed. I loved it.
The only downside is the emerald beach that is a wonderful beach that is so dirty and full of plastic, glass and other rubbish. Why?

Our 3rd time here. Honeymoon, 10 years anniversary and now 20 years anniversary. This visit we noticed a decline in many things, dinning options was not great, 3 restaurants only and every night we staid, one restauant was closed. spa area is so run down, spa surrounding needs serious work, inside spa lots of dead leaves needs trimming, siting area by the spa need work, retaining wall by the beach is falling apart. Massage was good but not amazing. Price was high around $77 for 50 min, my cover up smelled bad so i had to ask for another one. Breakfast was good but not great, coffee machines didn't work well and floors are not the cleanest. Food quality for dinner was very good. But prices are very high. Our villa was amazing and very clean. Most beautiful room ever. The villas are well kept and main pool area was well kept and in a great shape, absolutely gorgeous. Check in staff was great we had Kimie and he is wonderful. But check out staff were not great. They didn't seem to care much about our stay. Also, first 2 visits we had the manager personally came to say bye to us and on our 10 year anniversary the manager gave us a card signed by all staff and a nice assortment of local soaps. Also, they used to give a basket or fruits in the room but not this time. We love Pangkour luat but not sure if we will come back. If its your first time you will not notice the decline and you will still enjoy it.

Pankor Laut is the sort of place you dream about when you think of paradise, a rainforested island with white sand beaches, over sea villas and perfectly managed grounds. What makes Pankor Laut so special is the staff, every one has a smile and a genuine desire for everyone to have the best possible experience while with them. It is impossible to choose the highlight for our visit, the speedboat transfer, the beautiful resort, the personal concierge (Dian is a superstar), the fabulous accommodation, the stunning food, the bus shuttle service on demand or just Pankor Laut island the true star of the show. Superb over water bungalows with some setbacks

During our two night stay at the Spa Villas we enjoyed a sensational spa treatment, delicious food and amazing scenery. The only reasons we didn't feel it was a 5 star experience is because of the lack of personalised service (majority of staff are offshore contract workers), heavy reliance on shuttle bus transport around the island (including to the beach and around renovation works underway) and the slightly chaotic parking arrangements on the mainland before catching the ferry.

Stunning resort on private island, a perfect trip!

I cannot overstate how amazing Pangkor Laut Resort is! Everything about this stay was perfect. The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived at the jetty for our boat transfer. The property itself is stunning! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by name and were offered an upgrade from our hill villa to an over water villa (spa villa). We loved every minute of our stay! I would highly recommended the complimentary jungle walk which is offered to guests where you get a chance to learn about the nature and animals around the island. It was truly such a great trip! Only negative was the pools were a bit warm and not as cool and refreshing as we would have liked for the hot, humid weather - we mentioned this on check-out and staff were super apologetic (probably our own fault for not mentioning it earlier to them). But overall it was a 10/10 and worth every penny! We will definitely go back :)

Excellent service by the team at Pangkor Laut who served us at our 4 Bedroom Villa at the Estates.

Chef cooked plenty of delicious fresh meals to keep us well over fed. Butler was amazing, efficient & thoughtful of us. Staff at every corner willing to make sure we are being catered to our every needs and issues that we may have faced. Overall words can’t describe the amazing service we have received during our stay.

One of a kind experience if you decide to splurge on the “Estate” package. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience from the moment we stepped out of the boat and walked into our beach villa. Staff greeted us at the jetty and showed us to the reception area when we were given a cold refreshing drink and a cool face towel to freshen up. The ac had already been switched on in advance to keep the room nice and cold for us. Then after returning back from dinner, the room was beautifully decorated with happy birthday message on the bed with flower petals and leaves for my wife. The room was large and the bed very comfy. Service from staff was exemplary which even extended to the attention given to my 7 year old daughter during breakfast. All this made our stay a most memorable one.

The Villas are beautiful, and the experience at the spa was not only unique but flawless.The only issue for us was the trash in the water and costal areas. For instance, an old refrigerator and trash was in the sand in front of our water villa (117) for two days. Our last night at the hotel we had bad weather, lots of rain and thunderstorms. The strong currents drift the old refrigerator back to the sea. At Emerald bay, we found plastic bags floating and used them to pick up lots of trash. Two plastic bags full of it. I know the trash in the ocean is not the hotel's fault but more attention has to be taken to those on the shore to prevent them from drifting back into the sea.

We stayed in a Spa Room for 6 nights which is an adults only area of the resort. Our stay covered Christmas and there were a lot of children in the resort and my husband and I had gone to relax. The facilities in the Spa area were very relaxing, the pool is for the spa rooms only which made for lovely relaxing days by the pool. We were well looked after during our stay, the staff were always very helpful and cheerful. The food in all of the restaurants was of a very high standard. I would recommend this resort but if you are 2 adults who want a relaxing holiday try the Spa Rooms.

The property is beautiful, the service was great, the food was ok. My only criticism was the minibar wasn't restocked daily, the price for food was high; I paid $60 for two mimosas at breakfast. Also, there is no information on excursions off the island. They offer a boat to Pangkor island but good luck after they drop you on the beach.

The only other thing is i paid for the Sea Villa and my boyfriend wanted a bigger room with a TV, so we asked to downgrade after 2 days to a beach villa, which is about $125 cheaper per night. We had 5 more nights left so thats $625. I know it was my option, but they didnt comp me at all. At the least they could've comped me $250 for my meals. It just would've been a good gesture of customer service.

Rooms right on the water are well worth the extra price. You can hear the water & waves all around you while in the room. Rooms are nicely appointed. Nearby jungle treks are wild with monkeys and wild boars and some of the animals can be dangerous if walking alone. Breakfast facilities are excellent but choices for casual lunch and dinner are rather limited. Gym facility is well equipment with nice views all around. Staff is pleasant and welcoming. I stayed alone for a weekend but will definitely return with the family someday.

Everything about this Resort and the experience we had there was nothing less than amazing! It is truly heaven on Earth. Had a very pleasant experience at the resort, service was excellent, staff often went out of the way to make guests feel like VIPs. There were various dining options available, and quality was much better compared to the typical hotel food on mainland. Prices for the spa were steep but well worth every cent. Rooms were very nicely furnished, although the portions exposed to weather are coming of age.

I am probably a very demanding guest with an eye for detail and extremely high expectations. It takes a great deal to impress me. I LOVED Pangkor Laut, the amazingly hard working staff are brilliant, Rehmen in the Jamu Bar, Darwin in Uncle Lim’s, Amran running the FnB outlets, and many more, made my 10 day stay wonderful. The Spa Villas and private pool are the only place to stay! Will be going back there often. Never felt so relaxed and smiling as I have done there. Thank you PKL. ❤️

A truly tranquil and calming environment. A wonderful relaxing few days in beautiful surroundings. Being joined by a toucan as we sat having a cup of tea on the verandah of our chalet was an unforgettable memory.

Attending the complimentary yoga session each morning was a good way to start the day. The sound of the waves helped provide a calming effect for our hour long class. It was a bonus when the local monitor lizards joined us to bask in the sun.

YTL resort on Pangkor Laut is a truly unique place. I took my dad there as a present for his 92nd birthday. He said that it was the closest he had come to Shangrila!

A little piece of heaven.

Pangkor Laut Resort is like a little peace of heaven. The emerald water, blue skies and clean beaches accompanied by shady trees to laze under was more than I expected. A beautiful resort, I booked a hill villa, which was nice, but the view was obscured by high trees,also mosquitoes at night plus monkeys in the morning playing in the balcony were another problem for me, so my recommendation is to book a villa over water.
The TV in the room is small and showing a very limited number of channels , no movies , no news, which is considered a problem for some people.The villa size is small( bedroom), good bathroom, good Balconey size.
Service is very good, all people serving with a smile.The island is good, serviced by shuttle bus that take to to all parts of the island.
Many restaurants which offering Asian food and international cuisine.My recommendations is to try the ( Uncle Lim) a Chinese restaurant.
Prices of food a little bit high, and the quality is good.No diving there, no snorkeling, as the water is not clear.Limited water sport activities, you can hire a jetski from the opposite island( available only there),transport by jetty offered free by the resort.The resort is very beautiful, relaxing, with beautiful views around.
Transportation to the island from Kuala Lumpur is by a taxi (The Blue Taxi) or a Limousine( coasts higher) the Taxi coasts around 800 RM( Ringat Malaysian), takes around 3hours and half To the Pangkor Marina, then by jetty from the Marina to the resort , which coasts 160(RM) round trip.
For people visiting Kuala Lumpur for the first time, the Kuala Lumpur airport is far from the city, takes around 45-60 minutes .

Tranquil and relaxing.

Stayed in the Spa Villas which are situated over the sea. Had use of the swimming pool in the Spa Village which was less used than the main pool so always felt like we had the pool to ourselves. Often felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves because it was so spread out. Would recommend for a relaxing stay. There is not a lot to do. Restaurants are very expensive but food quality in Uncle Lim's was very good. A lot of staff everywhere to look after us. Spa treatments also very expensive but very nice experience.

A beautiful and serene spot in Malaysia. The beach was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The property is beautiful but a bit dated. Food was pricey but of great quality and it was tasty. The breakfast buffet was extensive and the staff were all well trained and courteous.
There was one area that could be improved, rooms were not cleaned till 4pm. We left our rooms to explore the island from 9-3pm, you would think 6 hours is reasonable for the team to make up the room.
Overall, it was still a nice stay, compliments go out to all the staff, they do make an effort every time to smile and greet you.

We had a great rest and the staff were wonderful. Once again, not all the restaurants were open, which was disappointing but the food available was of a high standard. The hotel worked to tidy up messy beaches in the mornings, from the previous nights floating debris, but needed more staff on it and started earlier.

Almost a Perfect Experience

I would rate the experience at 4.5 stars, not quite 5 star but real close. The facility is excellent, showing a bit of age here and there, ok food, excellent beach, pool, staff and general environment. We had some minor issues with air conditioning and would deduct half a star just for the fact that they charge you extra for the boat ride to the resort which is the only way to get there - really ruins an otherwise nice reception. Extra points for the excellent bedding and sheets. Note there is no pork available, menu is Halal based on location. Also our Sea Villa has no TV (not a problem for us, may be for you).

We stayed at the Hill Villas for 8 nights. The facilities were excellent from the check in at Marina Island to the pools, the Spa and the restaurants. The restaurants were a bit pricey but the given the settings and the general feel of the place, and the fact that it was all so well maintained, we feel it was still value for money. On of the best features is the outstanding friendliness of the staff, whether at the beach, the pool, the restaurants, housekeeping or the reception. They really made our stay memorable. I would recommend Pangkor Laut to anyone considering a luxury holiday in South East Asia. I know I will be to all my family and friends!

One of the best luxurious beach resort by far!

Everything here on the island resort, was just plain \"AWESOME\".

Really enjoyed the surroundings, great views, activities that can be done, and about 6 high class restaurants (though only ate at 1 restaurant and it was really good too).

Just piece of advise to those travellers, apart from the hotel you paying, do expect you will pay alot more seperately if you want services (such as boat transfer, the food, spa). It is very expensive!

All in all, i find this place and hotels, more suited for romance getaway.

Fabulous hotel

This was our 2nd visit, 18years apart. We were delighted to see it was just as great as before.The bay is stunning and rooms very comfortable. We stayed in a hill villa, stunning views, if not a slightly longer walk than expected. Would recommend a Garden or Water Villa. The breakfast was amazing - lunch choices at pool and beach bar were good. We only tried one of the 2 'Specialist' restaurants - where you need to dress appropriately, really not worth it, food in the Fish Village was trying too hard, didn't the mark and was heading towards expensive. Uncle Lim's Chinese is really really good, and the main restaurant is OK. Overall the food is good, but not exceptional, considering where we are, it could be much better. That said, if you are there for 3 or 4 nights you won't run out of menu choices.

Relax

Lovely staffs; very polite, very helpful and courteous. Excellent place to relax, wine and dine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we felt we are at home with people we knew.
Only thing that bothered us was prepared foods left open and flies were hovering round foods. We liked to see lidded container in place.
Variety of foods and drinks for breakfast that you will never be bored, even if you stay few weeks.
Overall good restaurants around the island you can dine. We liked foods at Uncle Lim's restaurant.

Amazing!!!

Spent 3N4Ds in the Hill Villa at Pangkor Laut Resort. Totally loved every bit of my stay here. Even though the food and drinks were quite pricy at the restaurants here. By the time I left what I spent was even more than the amount I paid for the Hill Villa. If you're coming to this place you need to plan yourself very well if you're not on a package.
The Internet in the room wasn't that great.
What truly blew me off was the satisfaction I got from the staffs. Omg they were superb, so so friendly. I gave this review 5stars mainly because of the service I got at this resort. It was money well spent.

Perfect weekend get-away!

Loved the beautiful island of Pangkor Laut. Its a 3,5 hour drive from KL, but one is fully away. The welcome was warm and hospitable, and we appreciated the staff showing us around. The villa is comfortable, with great open-air bath facilities. Unfortunately the furniture on the terrace was worn out. Also, we really regretted that the boat trip to/from the island is not included in the price. Overall thumbs up, and we will definitely be back.

Thank You to everyone, it was memorable.

There was an issue with double booking on one of our nights, so the manager Juilian upgraded us to a better room for the two nights of our stay. Sam was very polite and helpful. Vic was great at making sure everything we ordered for meals was perfect and Serena came and kept our 5 month baby entertained and laughing while we ate. The staff from the hard working ladies keeping emerald bay clean, to the room cleaners, or Uncle Lim, everyone of the staff do there part to making your stay perfect in every way....definitely will be returning and looking forward to the most relaxing vacation next year.

The room felt a little unclean, probably due to a rushed job. Personally, I felt the hotel should not charge for the boat ride to the hotel as only guests of the hotel are allowed in the island. If at all, the boat ride should be included in the room rate. Making the guests pay for the boat ride feels like forcing their arm as there is only 1 mode of transport in and out of the island.

There's was not a lot of vegetarian food, uncle Lim's had soya meat so that was ok. Needs things like salads with ordinary dressings, omelettes etc. everything was so over the top in the restaurants. One did a burger but no veggie option

Best vacation experience in my life

Pangkor Laut is in a beautiful location, with excellent standards for their villas, restaurants, and activities. Their best feature, however, is their service. We were sick the day before and missed one of our days at the resort. As a result, they upgraded our room to a sea villa. The staff helped us make arrangements for the rest of our trip in Malaysia, and offered to do so before we asked.

I also was sick during my visit, and the staff went out of their way to help and make sure I was feeling well the next day. We definitely plan to be repeat customers.

5* resort.Perfect for couples and relaxation

We went on a prehoneymoon holiday and the place was just magnificent. The breakfast amazing, staff always there for your comfort the resort is nicely set up.you have restaurants to choose from with great food( the sushi place was not that great though).the rooms are nice,cleaned twice a day( we stayed on a hill Vila) with a great view to the sea. If you are scared of lizards of insects do not choose this rooms( even island) as you have loads of them even in your room( found 2 lizards in the room).
Overall a perfect island/ resort to relax.
PS. The pool is the best!!

The staff stands out in their effort to make our stay comfortable, enjoyable and all around memorable. Both my husband and I are on a special diet. The staff actually tried their best to accommodate us. The best place to eat for us, is at the Fishermen's Cove.

The wildlife on and around the island is also a sight to behold and experience. We were very lucky as we had 3 swinging visitors that came to our open door bath. We were informed that it was the first time ever that the monkeys actually took a bath in a villa.

The Emerald Bay is perfect! The white sandy beach and emerald green sea is just beautiful.

A spa getaway fit for celebrities and you

This secluded exclusive island resort is like nothing else, we stayed in a hill villa which in our opinion is the better choice because you have grander views of the hotel and water. The service was excellent, warm and friendly. The food was good, lots of choice, a bit pricey but not terrible. Two amazing pools to lie around all day. The best part was the spa experience. The bath house ritual that precedes the booked treatment was such a treat. Just go there and see for yourself. The only down side is the 3 hour drive from KL to pangkor marina , but once you're there, it's a long distant memory. Don't take hotel taxi. Just ask local taxi drivers if they'll take you to wherever you want to go and don't forget to haggle.

For people traveling with elderly, please do not book Hill Villas. The villas are really nice, but may require climbing up many stairs and long walk.

A luxurious hotel by the beach

Every hotel staff member was very courteous and friendly. The property including the rooms was well managed.
While most other facilities like jungle excursion, yoga etc were complimentary, the ferry to the hotel and back was charged...and a substantial amount! I felt this charge should have been avoided as an add-on as nobody can get to the island by any other means! Veggie menu options were limited but it wasn't a bother.
A highly recommended relaxed holiday locale. Will definitely return here!

Lovely Emerald Bay and Excellent Service

The Emerald Bay and the wonderful staff are the highlights of this resort. Stayed for only one night and I think its just enough. We lounged mostly at the bay.

We booked the Garden room, and I think this is just nice for a stay in the resort. The beach and water chalets will be good if you can swim at the beach where these are situated. But the resort doesnt recommend you to do that because of the lack of safety net. Also the main Pangkor island is just opposite, so view is not as beautiful one would expect for the price.

The staff are all wonderful, theyre always smiling and very helpful. The room is very luxurious.
