This was a beautiful property! Very elegant, clean, beautiful property. Each room was spacious and comfortable with a fantastic view. The grounds were beautiful and well kept with a walled garden, pitch and putt golf area, lawn bowling area, and walking trail. The service was attentive and very professional. It was peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating. The 5 course dinner was amazing! Strongly recommend this place!

An excellent and very friendly hotel

We had a lovely time. From the moment we were greeted at reception on the first day till the day we left. Everyone was so nice and couldn’t have done enough for us. Our 2 dogs were made so welcome and our dining experience wasn’t reduced in any way because of them. Harriet should get a mention as nothing was too much trouble for her. It was also lovely to meet the owner Bill who made sure everything was running smoothly. We cannot empathise how fabulous the food was. Simply amazing. An excellent 2 days break.

Absolutely perfect!! I can’t say enough good things about our stay. The staff are amazing- from check in to check out and everything in between. Harriet, Crystal, Johnathan, Liam were fantastic. My stay was a fairy-tale moment.
Our rooms were at the very top of this castle BnB. Beautiful building lovely grounds with a garden and walking trail. Clean ,comfortable and inviting. The manager showed us around upon arrival. Breakfast was great and the breakfast room was beautiful. Loved our too short stay.

The house and its location are lovely; the staff welcoming and thoughtful. We could not have imagined a better place to celebrate our forty years together. Our elderly dog was given as warm a welcome and standard of care as were we. The cuisine is top notch - compliments to the chef - and the serving staff’s level of attentiveness well-judged. Small, unexpected extras were much appreciated.

Go for the incredible food and service

Cringetie is an exceptional place. It's been a very long time since I have been lucky enough to stay in a hotel which truly understands and executes 5 star service consistently. My parents and I had booked in for one night as a stopover whilst driving from York to Dundee, but ended up staying an extra night to celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary once we realised what we had stumbled across. Do not hesitate to book multiple nights at this stunning property, and be sure to have dinner. Truly fantastic food.

Wonderful Escape

We spent a wonderful couple of nights at Cringletie.
The staff were incredible from reception to housekeeping and restaurant to management. A special mention for Victoria who served us both nights and was so lovely to deal with.
The food was excellent - some of the best food we have ever experienced.
The room we had was comfortable and well equipped and the extensive grounds are beautiful.
It was our first stay but hopefully the first of many.

We booked for our 35th anniversary as a treat and it was superb. The staff were excellent as was the hotel itself. The food was delicious and a great choice. We had dinner on both nights and breakfast as well. The grounds are lovely-great walks but the early morning jog was hard. There were a lot of uphills! We definitely hope to return though.

Real Gem in The Borders

Marvellous stay. All staff extremely friendly and efficient. Room kept beautifully clean by housekeeping. We were lucky to be staying on the evening when the restaurant served the new autumn menu using locally produced foods. Delicious. I can’t praise this hotel highly enough. Watch out for the bears...

Cringletie House is a super experience: from driving up the long gravel drive; through the very personal reception (more than just a 'check-in'); to the twee rooms (complete with a super-cute teddy bear for adoption. Parent's - and husbands - beware!); and to a most excellent and pleasantly served breakfast.
The grounds are extensive and very, very pretty.
We had a most pleasant, impromptu stay.

Wonderful Xmas Break

From check-in to check-out, it couldn't have been more perfect. The staff were very friendly and attentive, but without being intrusive.The chef produced excellent meals throughout the stay - a lovely Scottish tasting menu on Xmas Eve and a perfect Xmas Day lunch. Could happily have stayed on for longer!

We have visited this hotel on numerous occasions, and unlike others where return visits were disappointing, we find ourselves happily returning to Cringletie time and time again. Can't wait for our first opportunity to return in 2018.

A proper, traditional Country House

From arrival to departure, staff were friendly, helpful and attentive with nothing too much trouble. The dining can only be described as fantastic - whether from the \"Bar Menu\" or the traditional Dinner Menu. Breakfast selections were excellent and a perfect start to the day....

The hotel has a lovely country house feel, and even though the Hotel was fully booked throughout our stay, it never had the feeling of being crowded.

This is a hotel that we use often, and it never fails to please with the experience provided.

Driving up to the hotel I instantly fell in love with this place. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is wonderful. We were arriving late and the hotel arranged for us to have sandwiches waiting which was perfect. Peebles is adorable town nearby and recommend a visit. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel!

Lack of pet friendliness spoiled our stay

Hotel says it is doggie friendly but it is not! A nice bowl of water at the front door, lovely walks in the grounds but you can't actually take your dog anywhere inside the hotel except your room! Not even in the bar. When compared with the Lake District, we found the Peebles area to be very doggie unfriendly with one exception - The Tontine Hotel, who couldn't do enough for us when we ate in their bar area. So, if you have a dog, stay there and not at Cringletie House. When a hotel says it is doggie friendly, I expect a dog blanket, bowl and biscuits in the room and access to breakfast and an evening meal WITH my dog - not to leave him in the room. Other places I have stayed have done this very well. Get the impressions that Cringletie House really doesn't want dogs there at all.
Otherwise, Cringletie House is ok - a bit stuffy and they totally got the poached eggs wrong on day one at breakfast!

I can see myself walking in the woods and gardens for many days. The reception was so warm, the room lovely with a teddy bear on the bed, bathroom amenities superb, room setting wonderful. Food and drinks in restaurant amazing. Can't say thank you enough for a delightful evening.

We stayed a couple of nights here in May and found it to be a very pleasant experience.

Ideally located for touring the Scottish Borders, Cringletie House is delightfully set within its own extensive and varied grounds, which contribute significantly to a feeling of comfort and relaxation. There's a putting green and croquet lawn for the use of guests (features which could appeal to organisers of team-building and other corporate events) and a large, walled kitchen-garden which, come to think of it, had a giant chess set in it..

The house is suitably grand, but not to the extent of seeming impersonal and we found members of staff to be friendly, helpful and, above all, cheerful.

Our Classic Room, \"Jedburgh\" on the ground floor, was well-appointed with a large and very comfortable bed along with all usual facilities. Breakfast was of a good standard, with plenty of choice and provided in a friendly and efficient manner.

All in all, a very agreeable experience.

Absolutely loved the whole experience. Friendly welcome for both us and our dogs, our room was a very good size, comfortably furnished, clean and peaceful. The bed was very comfortable with a feather topper and pillows. We ate dinner on our one night stay, it was lovely, a bit pricey but worth every penny. Knowledgeable staff helped with wine choices, and there was a nice choice of meals. The grounds of the hotel were exceptional, we enjoyed a lovely evening walk around the area. Intend on staying again whenever we need to be in the area.

The hotel is in a lovely location and the hotel looks fabulous as you drive up to it. We were seen to our room which was on the 3rd floor which had great views. The overall impression of the room was very good but what let it down was the cracked bathroom floor tiles, for a 4* this is unacceptable. All the staff are very young, not much conversation off them apart from the barman who was very knowledgeable on the vast choice of whiskeys. We ate in the Sutherland restaurant where we had lovely starter and desert but the fillet steak was tasteless and all the waitress offered was to mention it to the chef. On checking out we mentioned again to the owners who offered no reduction On the bill just saying they would mention it to the butchers, I did think the price I paid for a meal I couldn't eat was totally unacceptable. Overall I would go back but would eat elsewhere.

Overall very good. The restaurant is a bit pricey but the dining room is a very nice place to eat. However there are a few things that could be improved in this area. Part of the dining room has table cloths but most do not. If this is a fine dining experience then table cloths should be standard. The food such as Perthishire lamb and beef from Inverrurie is not local to this area. Why not use local suppliers as the hotel is well served by farming produce in this area. Also the walled garden is a bit of a let down as this should provide produce for the kitchen and appears to be a bit overgrown. Maybe they need to hire a new gardener!
