Not the place to stay if you’re working nightshift! After advising on check-in I would be working nightshift to then be put in a room beside there office and the staff shouting up and down the stairs to each other on the two days I stayed.

We received a friendly welcome on arrival and our room was spacious, very clean and styled in a contemporary way. The bathroom fittings were new and had very good lighting. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed our stay very much.

a small hotel which provides a good ambience in the public areas. Our bedroom was a bit dated and the shower had very low pressure. The food was excellent if a bit expensive. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others

We were on the second floor and would not have chosen the hotel knowing this. The stairs were not good for a senior. And, the bathroom was VERY small. However, we ate in the dining room twice and the food and service was excellent.

Greeting on arrival, very friendly. Nice bar area. Room was functional and clean. But a little tired. A night light for example in the bathroom, would stop you illuminating the bedroom! Nescafé granual coffee is a bit 1970s a coffee maker with pods would be better

Nice hotel

Lovely hotel, staff were so friendly and attentive, check in was easy and parking was ample. The room was decorated beautifully and we were happy with the street view. Close to town, easy to walk around and go out for a drink or coffee nearby.

I will say, the bathroom was disappointing - there was hair in the shower and it was dirty so that was a bit off putting. Also, the bed was two singles bolted together but the bolt at the head of the bed had fallen off so it separated during the night (had to get a head torch out to see what the issue was).

We ate at the restaurant and the food was incredible - we will definitely stay again.

Not a lot of \"on premises\" car parking but on the street parking mixing with local residents.breakfast time was a bit late ,7am would be a better time to start than 7.30am especially for any workers it was a bit slow coming to the table obviously cooked to order.overall 👍 👌

Great couple of days staying in one of the Stable Cottages. Perfect for 5 of us on a mountain bike trip. Perfect location for riding the incredible Tweed Valley trails!

The staff in the hotel were happy to assist in any way they could. The food was superb, the bar had a very good selection of whisky’s and a good selection of beers.
The hotel is a well looked after building, very clean and well decorated. We have no complaints about any part of our stay.

Excellent traditional pub-hotel with great food.

A good traditional pub-hotel. Food was excellent and a real buzzing atmosphere on a Saturday night. Bike-heaven with the excellent surrounding trails although on this occasion we were simply passing through. Definitely recommended.

The room was booked as a twin, but should have been a single. It was so small we had to put one carryon size bad in the closet, because there was not enough floor space for 2 carryon bags. The bathroom door didn’t open all the way because it hit the bed. The food, however, was quirkier good.

Very disappointing stay.
Room adequate, dated with a couple of issues. Toilet difficult to flush, no tube in light above sink. Quilt too small for bed.
Booked for dinner at 1820 and already running out of dishes on the menu.
Breakfast 😖 menu dishes incomplete, no porridge, no fresh fruit, tea refil - pot returned with same tea bag.
Requested toast numerous times, in turns gave up!
For £95 pounds I expected more.
Will carry on to Peebles next time.

Just what we needed

Congratulations to the person who recruits and trains the staff - welcoming, courteous, friendly throughout our stay. Arrived slightly late for our booked meal - no problem to delay it and let us settle in. Dog-friendly:bowl of water brought to our table without being requested - a lovely touch. Plentiful breakfast for the walker (husband) and lovely (and perfectly cooked) poached eggs and smoked salmon for me. My only criticism is that the mattress was not as great as ours, so slightly broken sleep, but that's possibly an age thing :) Room was quiet, even though above the front door. A lovely buzz about the place - popular with cyclists, mountain bikers and walkers. Recommended.

Great 4 night stay in the Traquair. Staff very welcoming, excellent customer service. Good breakfast served. Evening meals excellent. Decor is looking tired, but the service and food more than make up for this. I would definitely stay again.

Just book it don't bother looking elsewhere!

Fantastic stopover in rear cottage, quiet and comfy, even though the pub is busy!! The reason the pub is busy it's got top food and good ale, the Owner and staff are top notch there were Bikers and cyclists stopping as it's in a perfect location. WILL Definitely stay again! Look in village for Droopy Dandilion a lovely little shop for one off items!

Great location for my meeting. Very helpful and friendly staff. Room was fine, with an extra heater as it was a cold day. I had a good (locally sourced steak) dinner and salmon/scrambled egg breakfast.
As there are some great bike trails in Innerleithen, would come back for a short break if I can!

We were given a double bed in a large room on the second floor. Having unpacked and settled in with a cup of tea the Manager knocked on our door and were told that he had got our room mixed up and that we should be on the third floor in a twin bedded room. He was very apologetic and it was not a problem for us to move to a smaller room. We simply pushed the beds together to give us more floor space each side of our now larger bed. A complementary drink was given with our evening meal for the error. The food was great, with breakfasts having a wide choice on offer. Our two nights to cover a section of the Southern Upland Way, which we had to miss out a few years back, could not have been better.
