Marco checked us in, showed us to our room, and explained everything in the room. We had a beautiful view of the river and castle from our balcony. The restaurant food was great and Marco also took our order and sat down with us and answered every question about the area. The absolute best service I've ever had!!! Graat, quiet but fun hotel in great location!

Loved the room with Balcony with view of Rhine watching all the ships go by. Breakfast and lunch also very good. Walking distance to sightseeing boats. Recommend doing a day trip by boat to Bacharach and/ or St. Goar.

Town very quiet compared to Rüdesheim. At least during week.

Traditional style hotel on the banks of the Rhine. You can sit on the terrace and watch boats and barges all day. It would have been useful to have had tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Beautiful hotel right on the Rhein River. Great restaurant and bar right on the premises. Very good breakfast with lots of choices included in our stay.This hotel is in a small village just north of Rudesheim am Rhein, so it was very quiet. The boat picks you up right across the street if you want to take a river cruise. The train tracks are behind the building so no noisy trains at night. Very large room with comfortable bed and air conditioning. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Great staff make this hotel stand out

The hotel staff was amazing. This area is full of hotels, but the great staff, the luxurious bathroom, and the fantastic breakfast really make this hotel special. The staff took great care of us, since we were traveling with a baby, offering to bring us breakfast the night before since we'd leave for the airport too early the next morning. I'd stay here again!

Fantastic view overlooking the Rhein :)

One of the best pillows over our 2-week tour in Germany (for some reason a lot of hotels provide super soft = flat pillows). We got the room facing the Rhein - view was lovely and well worth the upgrade. Room is modernity furnished too and toilet is clean and of good size. The front desk is also extremely helpful. Only downside is wifi is chargeable (at EUR 5/day but unlimited number of devices). Overall will highly recommend!

Great hotel in Assmannshausen

First off, this hotel is in Assmannshausen, not Rudesheim. I was surprised to find this out, but in the end, I was glad. Rudesheim was much more touristy and busy than Assmannshausen. The manager was super friendly and helpful. He helped us put together our itinerary for the one day we stayed there, and he recommended a lovely restaurant/winebar that was slightly off the beaten path. We stayed in a deluxe room, so we had a nice balcony overlooking the Rhine. My friend stayed in a single room, which was much larger than expected. The showers were a bit small, but that seems to be typical in Europe. Overall this hotel is a great choice!

We loved this hotel. One big window and a glass door opened up right in front of the Rhine for watching all the boat traffic going by. Modern room, very nice and clean. Be sure to grab the excellent breakfast buffet, it's included in the price and it's good. A lot of trains go by behind the hotel, but it was interesting so we didn't mind. Easy walk to Rhine cruises.

Stayed for 2 nights and ate in the restaurant on one evening,food was very good and service likewise.
Rooms were clean with comfortable beds, bathroom was not really up to the same level as it was very small.
The free WiFi was excellent and the Owner/Manager was most helpful,carried our luggage fron the car(free parking) and answered all our questions.
Transport into Ruedesheim is a breeze,with the Bahn just 400 metres level walk from the hotel and at 1.98 Euro one way is excellent and much easier than driving as parking in the town is not cheap and finding a space can be problematic..You also have the choice of the water taxi but this is pricey and takes longer.Great stop when visiting the area,but as the summer temperatures can be in excess of 30C you might be more comfortable in one of the rooms with aircon.

Nice restaurant, Uncomfortable Bed

While the view of the river is very nice and the staff was welcoming, the room (while spacious) was very uncomfortable. While some may really enjoy a bed that can recline/decline, the combinations of the mattress and pillows made for a really rough sleep. I ended up on the floor at one point hoping that might be more comfortable. Furthermore, despite the AC, it did not get cool. It made for a rough night's sleep. Parking is also a bit of a challenge, and the hotel is rather small. The pictures look nice, but it's not what I imagined it would look like on the Rhein.

The wonderful aspects of the River Rhine.

Absolutely wonderful. The hotel, staff and ammeneties were excellent. They helped us with decisions of trips out, and the food was varied and excellent. We managed to travel around enjoying the wonderful scenes of the Rhine. the rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. The hotel faces he River Rhine, which was wonderful to see the barges and cruise boats, which helped us to relax as we watched the river traffic, it was so peaceful.

Very pleasant hotel in a quiet town

This hotel is in Assmannshausen, very close to Rudesheim. Compared to Rudesheim, Assmannshausen was not at all crowded. The town is small, quaint and of course doesn't have the number of shops and restaurants that Rudesheim has. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating in answering our questions. The breakfast that was included was very nice with breads, cereal, meats and cheeses, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, yogurt, some fresh fruit, and juice. They had the coffee already in a carafe on the table. Very convenient to the docks for tourist boats--they were right across the street. The room was spacious. The bed was firm, but the pillows were a little soft for us. It is quite close to the train tracks which is a plus and minus. It is less than a 5 minute walk from the train stop to the hotel, but there are quite a few trains that run through the night so it can be a little noisy. They did charge 5 euro for internet access, but that covered the entire stay. All in all a great value.

A great and quiet location by the Rhine

The location is excellent - riverfront hotel; but views from the rear, of the sloping vineyards, are also of interest. Sat watching passing traffic on river a couple of nights. Location quiet, and village is pleasant. Easy access (few mins walk) to piers for boat trips, and train station. Hotel staff are very accommodating and helpful with bookings and directions etc. Owners seem to take pride in the place. A very pleasant stay and would return.

The majestic Rhine

We have always wanted to se the Rhine and finally,we did . It did not disappoint. The Rheinhotel Lamm was rated highly and it is a ver accurate rating. From the time we arrived to the time we left we were treated as friends rather than clients. The younger gentleman was so very helpful showing us our room before we entered to see if it met our standards . It did. I was looking out at the Rhine river !!! The restaurant was excellent and we selected to eat there both days. My wife has an allergy to gluten and we were so worried in Germany but there was no need. They fully understood and catered appropriately. I had the snitzel ( twice)! It was amazing. With breakfast include it was a wonderful deal.
The owner operator was so very friendly as well. Excellent service in an excellent hotel.
I will return and, ... So should you. You will not be disappointed.

Our stay here couldn't have been better. We had a beautiful view from our room of the swiftly flowing Rhine River. Our room and bathroom were like new, spacious and comfortable. We could walk to all activities and restaurants, including the KD boat trip on the Rhine and the chair lift to the top of Niederwald with a return cable car trip to Rudesheim. The hotel is in Assmannshausen a short train, boat, or drive to Rudesheim. The Manager/Owner was very helpful with everything.

Our first time in Assmannshausen since 1965. Excellent location right by the Rhein. We were fortunate to have a front facing room with a wonderful view. Very clean and spacious. The food for breakfast was of excellent quality and variation, something for all tastes and plenty of it. The staff are able to arrange trips, with a little discount over the marked price! Overall one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.

We stayed for 3 nights early June. We were welcomed on arrival and given a room at the side of the hotel, with a view of the river, The room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Choice and service at breakfast and evening meal was excellent. Safe parking is a major factor for us, and this proved no problem within the hotel grounds, although spaces seemed limited and perhaps a problem in peak season. Unfortunately, due to flooding of the river there were no boat trips while we we there but we found plenty of other things to do in the area.

A lovely location on the river, with fine views. The rooms are clean and simply appointed, in line with the price level, but the real highlight is the staff. They were extremely friendly and accommodating, helped us with secure parking, kept the kitchen open for us when we arrived late and could not have been more helpful. Marco the manager was great. When the GPS said enter ferry, we were surprised. The hotel is nice and the people were very friendly. No nightlife. We took the chair lift to the top of the mountain and explored. We walked down and had a nice walk. We wished we could have seen the castle but it was closing and we left before it opened. I would recommend the hotel because of the nice people.

Stayed here mainly to save on costs while attending a convention at the Frankfurt Messe. While it was a 45 minute commute (without traffic) it was a fairly direct drive. The lovely location and quiet village atmosphere made it a world away and a welcome respite from the hustle of Frankfurt. Ideal place if travelling on business with a spouse as there much to see and do in the immediate area without the need of a car. I rented a car but commuting to Frankfurt by train is possible and the station is just a short walk away. Charming, cozy, clean and comftable with a nice little restaurant and a view of Rhine River.

Reinhotel Lamm - great location!

The hotel is right on the Rhine River, and is actually located in Assmannhausen. We had the deluxe room with a balcony, and it was the best decision we could have made. You can sit on the balcony and watch the river traffic go by. The room also had a coffee machine so you could enjoy your coffee out on the balcony, too. The location is perfect for driving into Ruedesheim and all the nearby towns along the river. The restaurant in the hotel was also good. We ate there two nights in a row. We would definitely book this hotel again.

\"Ferry\" Nice

We arrived in Frankfurt a day ahead of friends and had a day to explore before picking them up for our week long Octoberfest binge.
Found this hotel highly rated and decided to book at the last minute. We found a wifi coffee shop ( no, not the major one) and booked this at the last minute.
Our portable navigation unit steered us in the direction of the hotel, but since I had failed to reset the driving parameters, it took us to a ferry boat crossing of the Rhein. It was only 5 euros to cross, and provided a memorable beginning to our vacation.
The hotel is one of several along a relatively obscure little area, but we had no trouble finding it. A tip to those with portable navigation units...be sure to buy one that allows \"Postal Codes\" to be entered to locate cities. Germany uses a zip code system similar to the U.S., and believe me, it is much easier to enter 5 digits than a 20 letter city name.
At the actual hotel, the gentleman at the desk had not even received our confirmation from Hotels.com yet, but made a call to his manager and they gave us a room before even receiving the paperwork. This is not the first time we have beaten the paperwork to a hotel. We are often spur of the moment, last minute bookers, preferring to explore an area before deciding to stay. Also, on the occasions we book ahead of time before leaving the country, we have found a quaint little niche that we would liked to have stayed, or worse, find ourselves driving massive distances to make the hotel we booked, as we pass by multitudes of others that would have sufficed.
The room was clean, everything worked, and the staff was very accommodating on our request for cubes to put in our small cooler. Although the hotel had a restaurant, we opted to walk through the small town behind the hotel, and ate at a different restaurant. So we cannot attest to the food.
A couple words of caution. The front of the hotel overlooks the main road and river, and as we sat at the roadside tables having drinks, there might be a little too much noise until the later hours when the town shuts down. The back of the hotel faces rail tracks which were very active at all times of the night. In one 15 minute span while walking through the town, we had to wait for 3 trains to pass. Our room, was along the side of the hotel, overlooking the other hotels and restaurants. While not exposed to the major noise, we did hear the trains when they passed by. Thankfully, they did not blow their horns when they passed the crossing gates like in the US.
The next morning, the breakfast was included in our price, and this was a nicer breakfast than the typical cold cuts, cheese and bread. There were scrambled eggs, and much more selection of the aforementioned cold cuts.
Also, we found out the front desk clerk had gone to high school in a little town less than 100 miles from where I grew up in Indiana. Small world.
Overall, a very nice hotel for the money, a nice little town off the beaten path to explore, and a ferry ride to get you there. What a great start to our vacation.
I will also be posting reviews for the other 3 hotels we found on Hotels.com, and all were excellent. I strongly rely on the reviews more than the star rating of the hotel, and it did not steer us wrong on this trip. As I have said before, I would rather stay in a 2 star hotel with a 5 star review, than a 5 star hotel with a 2 star review.
And on this trip, that theory held true.

This family run hotel is literally just across the road from the Rhine River, and round the corner from Assmanshausen rail station. The rooms are simply furnished but the beds and duvets are particularly comfortable. The bathrooms are usually showers and are well equipped with shampoo/shower gel and plenty of towels.

The restaurant provides a great continental breakfast and regional specialties. I can recommend the Rudesheimer Kaffe as a perfect end to a meal or a day out. It is \"assembled\" at your table so there is a bit of theater to the drink.

Three of us were traveling together and we were made very welcome by the hotel. We were given loads of information about local sightseeing opportunities. Travel directions and tourist information leaflets were available in English and other languages. This is a marvelous base to stay in when touring the prettiest part of the Rhine Valley. I will certainly be returning!

Great views of Rhine River

The hotel was perfect for us. Right on the Rhine with great views and personal service. The only problem was the shower head would not stay in postion. This is a small hotel in a small town. If that is what you want, it's perfect.

Rheinhotel Lamm - recommended highly

What a wonderful place to stay on the Rhein. We enjoyed the balcony overlooking the river with the many boats, the castle down the way. The staff was very helpful with arranging tickets for the ferries and trams up and down the mountain. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

Beautiful location right on Rhine River

We loved this hotel for its location right on the Rhine River. Beautiful terrace to enjoy wine and dinner watching boats going and coming. The hotel staff were very helpful, and the owner took special care to assist us with parking our car in the back parking lot. The breakfast in the morning was superb. We would love to go here again.

friendly staff

We arrived late, almost 9pm but the staff were very friendly and we ended up eating a good meal at the restaurant. The room was smallish with a smell of ?fresh paint. Buffet breakfast was adequate. When we went for the Rhein cruise the next day after check out, the manager let us park our car within the hotel so that we don't have to pay for the parking at the pier which was a bonus.

The Hotel Lamm is situated right on the front with unobstructed views of the Rhine. It is a traditional building but some of the rooms have a very funky modern decor which is slightly at odds with the rest of the building. The 'comfort' room we had was very spacious with settee and two tub chairs which allowed us to enjoy the view of the river traffic from both the windows. The bathroom was modern and spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of both hot and cold dishes. dinner could be improved by the addition of a few vegetables. Several of the menu options consist of meat and potatoes of some kind but no vegetables or salad.
Overall this is a good hotel with the one outstanding feature being the staff. They were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble

Rheinhotel Lamm convenient and very accomodating

My family and I took the Kohl-Dusseldorf (KD) Rhine cruise from Koblenz, got off at Assmanhausen and spent the night at the Lamm Hotel before heading back to Koblenz. The hotel was extremely convienent, the staff was very helpful and the rooms we booked were quite satisfactory. We were made to feel far more welcome than was the case at the hotel where we stayed at Koblenz, and the hosts spoke pretty decent English.

The hotel's restaurant was good (the host convinced me to try the \"pig's stomach\" which proved to be a lot better than it sounds) and the breakfast (included with the room) was both high in quality and variety.

The host also seemed quite surprised by how good a price we got from Expedia.

Excellent, would stay there anytime.

This was a great place to stay and I woudl recommend it to anyone. We felt like part of the family. The location and views are excellent. It is in a small town but just a few minutes from Rudeseim by boat or rail. The staff and service is excellent and they took care of all are needs.

Unaufdringlich sehr gastfreundlich.

Es gab nichts zu bemängeln, allerdings hatten wir auch die Deluxezimmerkategorie mit Klimaanlage gewählt. Die Betten waren sehr bequem und nicht durchgelegen.
Das Personal ist sehr gästeorientiert und freundlich. Unserem Hund wurde sofort eine Schale Wasser angeboten. Das Frühstücksbuffet hat eine große Auswahl von frischem Obst bis Rührei und auch das Restaurant hat sehr leckere Speisen.

Morgenmaden er ikke ret god, kedelige rundstykker. Området er virkeligt skønt, det værelse som vi betalte 120€ ekstra for var også virkelig lækkert, desværre en ekstraudgift vi ikke havde regnet med

God service som nemt kan forbedres til “perfekt”

Super service af personalet. Opmærksom og hjælpsom.
Hotellet bar præg af at være “gammelt”, ikke helt vedligeholdt.
Kunne være rigtig godt med mulighed for at brygge en kop kaffe på værelset og en (stor) flaske vand ved ankomst.
Men stemningen og (igen) betjeningen var helt i top.
Morgenmadsbuffeten var super med alt, hvad man kan forlange.
