I thought that being part of NH this hotel would meet a minimum standard of quality. Unfortunately the room didn’t age well and needs remodeling and maintenance, especially in the bathroom. Very disappointing. The view on the Rhine River was spectacular though.

Location on the Rhein was great, view from room was exceptional. No air conditioning in this hotel, on summer day room was over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Fan was in the closet. Bathroom sink and toilet was in very poor condition, shower was so small you could barely move in it.

Much better than the reviews suggest

I'm not sure what all the complaints are about regarding this hotel. Maybe the rooms differ in quality and updating, but ours was fine. It was certainly a huge step up from the traditional accommodation typical in these small towns. The location was great, too. My only criticism is the lack of air conditioning (standing fan is provided) and the crazy price for breakfast, which we obviously declined (who would pay 20 euros per person for breakfast in Germany?!)

Location was right on the waterfront and had a beautiful view. There was probably a 5-10 minute walk to find food other than the hotel restaurant - which seemed nice, we just didn't want to eat there. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Ladies at the counter were so helpful. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. I love that there is an electric teapot for tea and coffee. There is also a minibar. There is a towel drier which was great for clothes you hand wash. There is a website to order things you might need, like pillow, tea bags, extra towels. Simple to use and very convenient. Walking to the hotel from the train station was a little difficult, but only because we didn't know where we were going. The location of the hotel is amazing.

The breakfast buffet costs more than we would normally pay (22E) but there aren't Breakfast places near there and the breakfast and staff were amazing. The variety of options were more than I have ever seen in any hotel including omlets made to order. The dining room was a beautiful location with beautiful views of the river.

I would definitely stay here again.

The ONLY complaint we have is that our room was NOT air-conditioned and it was 84 degrees when we attempted to go to sleep at 9:30 pm. Not a good night even with the balcony door open as the night eventually cooled off.

This modern hotel was the highlight of our trip to Germany, mainly because of the staff, who were incredible—very facile with English and extremely helpful arranging tix for the Rhine River cruise (Bingen to St Goar), and rental bicycles for our ride back. The hotel was situated on the river, easily accessible, lots of parking, and absolutely fantastic in every way.

Staff was very friendly and prompt. Hotel needs to be updated. Room was unbearable hot, no -ac which was expected but door to balcony did not open all the way for air circulation (desk blocked). Balcony was covered with spider webs and room was extremely loud due to train next door. Bathroom had mildew and stains. Room seemed to be cleaned well but was just so outdated with paint and mildew issues.

When this hotel was built in 1989 (I saw a dated cornerstone), it must have been a go-to location for company gatherings, conferences and other exciting events that needed to take place in a picture-perfect place like Bingen. Since that time, however, I cannot tell that it has been significantly updated (other than a new TV and faucet in the room). The place has charm, and it is pretty much the only formal hotel close to the Bingen hbf, but it could use an update. All of the staff were delightfully friendly; the breakfast was great (costs extra and goes until 12 p.m. on Sundays!); the beautiful restaurant is open early for breakfast and stays open until late at night; It is also beautiful and overlooks the Rhine. The service was excellent in every way. They held our bags for us while we sojourned around the town during the day and gave us water bottles upon our return. We paid a bit extra to get a room with a balcony and river view. The balcony did, technically, overlook the river, but it was on the bottom floor, and we couldn't really see anything. There is an option to get book a room that overlooks the river but does not have a balcony. Based on my visit to the property, that seems like the best option.

The hotel was great, breakfast was delicious and the staff were super friendly and helpful. But I suggest asking for a room *not* on the top floor as there is an architectural feature on the building exterior that completely blocks what would be a great view! Why would anyone do that?!

View was great out of the window I had and the beds were comfy. However there was little choice of restaurant food but there were several nice local restaurants in the town 5 minutes walk away. The bathroom was tired with cracks in the sink and stained with a deep red colour.

Location was perfect, about a 10 minute walk from the main train station (be sure to use the underground walk way). Close to restaurants and center of town. A bigger yet charming hotel right on the Rhine River. Views of the river are incredible from some of the rooms and within the dining room. Rooms were clean and comfortable. They charge for parking but there is a public parking area just adjacent and for half the price. There are several Rhine River cruise options within a short walk from the hotel. Be sure to cross over to Rudesheim.

We have stayed here before & like it's location on the banks of the Rhine & Nahe rivers. It seems to cater for a lot of coach parties & business people. It's a very clean & modern type of hotel with lots of space throughout. Clean comfy rooms with nice décor with tea & coffee facilities plus mini bar/fridge. We had a nice view of the vineyards across the Rhine. A little train noise at night though nothing like as bad as most of the Rhine, it's a price you have to pay for staying on the riverside. Staff we met were very polite. Parking available outside but you now have to pay but it's much cheaper than the hotel rate underground, free parking is available but 5 - 10 mins walk away. We always love the garden areas along the bank of the river, for a non tourist town they do an excellent job of making it worth a visit. Easy boat access up & down river plus across to Rudesheim.

Well positioned hotel, disappointing breakfast

We stayed one night at this hotel, arriving late - after midnight - but were welcomed by the night staff. Room was small but ok. Shower was difficult to control, but adequate.

I found the breakfast very disappointing. I warned the hotel ahead of our stay that I required a gluten free breakfast, and again when we checked in. However there was no gf bread, just a small packet of substitute rye bread and rice cakes. When I looked and saw the large range of breads available to everyone else I felt cheated. I would have appreciated some soya milk not heavily flavoured with vanilla too. The scrambled eggs and beans were over cooked - we eat at about 8:00 so I feel the food should have been fresher.

Hotel is in a convenient central location. It is quite noisy with the constant flow of trains going by 24/7. It is well appointed and very clean. The rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious. We stayed for two days & nights It was reasonably priced through Expedia. We would recommend it for both personal and business stays in Bingen. It is in a great location for running, biking, and walking, with convenient access north to some of the Rhine's popular little towns, like Bacharach, St Goar, etc. We enjoyed our stay in Bingen.

Our room was not great because we did not have any view (good or bad) out our window. There was a big metal beam across the window blocking view. Since it was off-season I thought that seemed odd that they didn't give us a better view. Everything else was fine with the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very expensive. We opted to eat elsewhere.

Warm welcome from staff on reception and easy check in. Room was fairly tired and but hear the lower floors have been refurbished. Bed was hard and room too hot (no aircon) even thought cool outside. Didn't eat but dining area looked nice. Was well located for river / town and parking good. Area was quiet overall (tourist stuff appears to be other side of river) but had thumping music till early in the morning which kept me awake. Not sure where this came from but was worse due to having to open window.
Overalll good and with refurb completed would be nice place to stay.

Nice hotel directly on Rhine in quiet setting.

We stayed here to take excursion boats up the Rhine and the ferry across the river to tourist heavy Rudesheim and the Niederwald monument. You can walk into central Bingen, but there's a busy rail line to cross. The hotel appears built for conventions and wasn't busy during our stay. Good breakfast overlooking the river. Book a river view room. Several restaurants along the riverfront promenade. No tub in bathroom, no air conditioning.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. The rooms are quite small and the beds are uncomfortably firm. One made squeaking noises when shifting on it. These were the new style rooms so we expected better. The train noises were okay as the rooms faced the Rhine, but there were quite a few noises from the mini fridge. The breakfast was overpriced. If you booked it the day before, you saved 2euros per person. They would not let you sit in the section with the best view of the Rhine, as they were saving them for the lunch service.....4 hours later.

Lovely Rhine location!

Hotel is in a great location with wonderful views of the Rhine and vineyards. The breakfast buffet is very good and the restaurant takes advantage of the views. We have stayed here twice because of the convenient location but both times the front desk claimed that there was no record of our hotels.com reservation. Only when we showed our email confirmation did they get a bit more friendly. Hotel was not full either time.

A short overnight stay along a work related road trip. There is nothing wrong with this place, but there are no particular highlights either. Service was friendly and professional. The place is out of the way for any sightseeing, restaurants etc., and you would need to allow for min. 15 minute walk to any services in the city. The railway nice can be heard to the room even if you're on the riverside (as they run on both sides throughout the night, and one right behind the hotel). Breakfast of a generous Northern European buffet, and could be worthwhile (an the room looks over the impressive Rudesheim vineyards).

Great Location with a few issues

Arrived with my Daughter and wanted a twin rather than the double we were given but had used the bathroom etc so agreed with helpful desk clerk to change for the next two nights of our stay. I wish we had moved immediately! Bingen has more trains per hour 24/7 than I have ever experienced anywhere. It was 29 degrees and we had to shut the window. No a/c but a fan provided. Put the fan on and it sounded like a tractor.. cue the worst night's sleep I have ever had in a hotel. The replacement room was on the river side and much quieter. The location is great and the staff generally helpful. This place needs air conditioning in the rooms to reach its' full potential. I would stay again but would choose my room carefully

Just a place to sleep

We stayed in Bingen only because we weren't sure what time we'd be arriving and if the ferry would still be running to Rudesheim. It was convenient to both the passenger and car ferries. It seemed like more of a convention/business hotel and didn't appear to be in a lively touristy neighborhood but we didn't really go anywhere in Bingen so I can't say what was in the area. The front desk agent was friendly and helpful. The room was extremely small even by European standards. The bed was at an angle from the corner so that you could access both sides but it wasted a lot of floor space. We had a room directly over the front entrance and the windows did VERY little to keep out the noise of the traffic, guests, trains, trucks, etc. Ask for a rear-facing room if your sensitive to noise...its facing the Rhine so it may be quieter??

Overall, this hotel was very nice, fantastic room, extremely clean and comfortable, staff was very friendly. Thermostat was a little tricky, a dial with no labels to know what you are setting it at. Fitness room/sauna/hot tub were all in the same room, which was a little odd, but worked, make sure someone sits by the jet button in the hot tub, it only runs for about 3 minutes before kicking off.

Restaurant was nice, with good, but not great food, but was a little overpriced compared to what we saw elsewhere. The hotel is right by the river in a quiet neighborhood (other than the train) which means there aren't many other food options right around the hotel.

The travel advisor told me of this hotel when I wanted a place on the Middle Rhine otherwise I would not have known about it! It was perfect, just what I would have wanted - view of the river from my bedroom and from the dining room and a small leisure centre with gym, sauna & steam room. The front desk staff were so helpful with touring plans and the breakfast waiters were just adorable - giving a lovely 'Guten Morgen' to each guest coming in. Wonderful choices for breakfast - good scrambled egg with bacon in it! The entire hotel was very clean and an easy walk to train station, town, the riverfront parks and piers. Reviews had said it could be noisy from trains but I requested back room with riverview and it was not a problem. I even enjoyed the German TV programs on flat screen TV. Bed was very comfy. I had room service one night and was told they add on 5 euro charge, but the base price was very reasonable so I just didn't tip.

The Middle of a Christmas Train Garden

We loved the location and view of the Rhein. The trains across the river, the barges coming up and down the river around the bend was fascinating to watch. Also we could walk to a lovely restaurant for dinner. And then walk along the river front. If you love trains & rivers this is your place!

Nice Hotel, decor needs update

Small room, but clean. Decor could use an update. Parking either outside EUR4/day or in garage EUR7/day (which is the better deal, because if you do not have your ticket in the car the moment the police comes by, they issue a traffic violation).

A nice enough hotel in a good position.

The hotel was ok and in a very good position overlooking the confluence of the Rivers Rhein and Nahe. We were disappointed that the staff were unable to assist with details of local Rhein cruises. They gave us a brochure which was out of date. The room was reasonable but hardly worth 4 stars, especially as it did not have any tea making facilities.
We felt that we could have been warned that the car park at the front of the hotel was, in fact open to the public and subject to a Pay and Display system which attracted the attention of the patrolling traffic wardens.
However, apart from these points we would recommend it to others.
