The property is located in the hills up a very steep hill. The views are spectacular and a lovely introduction to rural Tahiti. We did not have a car and that proved to be difficult for us. There are no restaurants close by and walking not easy. They no longer serve dinner so you are on your own but the owners will assist you.

This is my second visit to Tahiti and my second time staying at Maison Taina. Valerie and Laurent are wonderful hosts. If you are looking for top notch hospitality and want to feel welcome, stay here. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was perfect for both my visits. It is worth the extra few minutes’ drive from the airport to Maison Taina! We will be coming back to FP and will definitely book with them again next time.

The accomadations were fabulous. The host and hostess kind and welcoming. The pool was relaxing. I am giving it a 4 stars only because you could not walk anywhere. Every trip away was $40.00+ taxi fee, which adds up daily. I expected the accomadations to be more convenient and walkable.

Valérie, her husband Laurent and her son Tom were all very welcoming and helpful. Valerie has contacts for anything you need. The outdoor kitchen is well stocked with spices and utensils for cooking your own lunch or dinner. Breakfast was a nice selection of fresh breads,croissants fresh tropical fruit and cooked eggs plus juice, tea or coffee. The pool looked very inviting but we didn’t use it on this trip. The room was spotless.

Maison Taina is located in the hills above Papeete. It is an attractive two storey property that catches refreshing breezes and has fabulous views of the reef. Accessing the rooms upstairs for people with limited mobility could be an issue but there was plenty of help for me with suitcases.You definitely need a car to access food from stores, restaurants etc that are close by but not within walking distance or you need to stock up on food supplies before you get to the property. A taxi fare from the port to the property cost US $30.00.From the property to the airport US$50.00. My room and bathroom were spacious and featured a balcony with outdoor seating.Valerie was very happy to provide anything needed. The breakfast was served in the pool house which is there for the guests to use. It has a large fridge for guests' food, filtered water, a dining table and chairs and even fresh free bananas from the garden. Breakfast is served here every morning consisting of fresh fruit and delicious pastries and wonderful, authentic, french coffee. Wine is also available to purchase. The pool is refreshing and maintained to a high level.I really enjoyed my stay here due to Valerie's friendliness and helpfulness and the opportunity to meet other guests in the other three rooms. A great base for sightseeing in Tahiti or for me a lovely place to just relax after a cruise and before a flight home.Thank you so much to Valerie and her lovely family for looking after me so well. This was our favorite location on the island of Tahiti. The hosts were friendly and helpful and the lodging was very comfortable, with A/C, a very nice pool, and a lovely breakfast served by the host. It was probably the best value of any place we rented during our trip. If i ever return to Tahiti I will most definitely stay here!

A very special place

This is a great place to stay; only 4 rooms, each slightly different, but with great facilities and views. Kitchen/dining room for use of guests is also a pleasant place to be. Great hosts who are good to talk to and share their experience of moving to Tahiti from France and their knowledge of their adopted home. A very special place indeed.

Valerie, our host/owner, was amazing and attentive to all of our needs. We enjoyed the property and the views of Ārue and the beach.

Breakfast was great! Croissants are the best! They’re made in house and fresh.

Also, Valerie was very knowledgeable of activities and landmarks for tourist to visit.

We recommend to anyone visiting tahiti for the first time and looking to get away from big resorts and hotels. Great place!!!

This property is high end. You’re above the hustle and bustle of Tahiti with endless views of the ocean. The full French breakfast in the open air space makes the experience. Take time to get to know Valerie and Lawrence. You’ll be a changed person from their peaceful style.

Inaccurate information - beware!

Hosts Valerie and Laurent were friendly and helpful but this does not override the fact that the information they supplied is inaccurate. There is no restaurant and no coffee shop. They used to offer evening meals but ceased to do this a year ago! There is a breakfast area, but no coffee bar or café, just a coffee machine.
All really misleading. I was looking forward to resting in the mountains for a few days. I was between hectic tours and didn’t want to be energetic. Pool and restaurant sounded fine. Except there was nothing in the area to eat at all and nearest shops and restaurants two miles away, down the mountain road. A taxi just down the road to the coast cost 20 USD.
Valerie pushed me into renting a car and to be fair, fixed it up for me, driving me to the rental place. So I ended up touring, which was not what I had planned or budgeted for
The room was fair. The safe was locked and I couldn’t use it. There’s the teeniest bin you ever saw in your life. Just the one, in the bathroom. It’s a fight to open or close the curtains; the pole is too large for the holes. I have a kettle, tea bags and a bottle of water in a fridge. But no cutlery, mugs or glasses.
Nice terrace and swimming pool. Obscured views to the sea and the mountain. Neither are stunning.
The Wi-Fi here is shockingly slow to non-existent. I ask about it but am dismissed and told it’s my phone that’s the problem and no-one else has ever complained. Except the Wi-Fi works perfectly on my phone when

A Truly Warm and Welcoming Stay!

From the moment we arrived (even at 2am, thanks to Valerie waiting up for us!), we felt right at home. Valerie, Laurent, and Tom made us feel like part of the family. We had good chats about local life in Polynesia. The accommodation is clean, cozy, and spacious - perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. you’ll need a car since it’s up in the hills, but the drive is easy.

Every morning, Valerie spoiled us with a delicious breakfast - fresh fruit, pastries, and eggs to start the day off right. Plus, her local tips were spot-on! As first-timers in French Polynesia, we really appreciated her advice not just for Tahiti, but for the other islands too. She even helped us arrange an unforgettable snorkel tour in Moorea with Captain Taina, where we swam with stingrays, reef sharks, and turtles. A highlight of our trip so far!

We can’t recommend this place enough!

Great guest house. Tucked in the hills, with a view of the ocean, flowers and roosters crowing.

Owners are very nice and helpful. Let us use snorkel equipment and beach towels. They helped us with navigating the island and places to visit.

Other guests were also respectful and friendly.

They have a fridge and outdoor kitchen to make your own dinner.

You need a rental car for here and to see the island.

I absolutely love this place! It's situated in the hills of Tahiti and had beautiful views of the ocean. The rooms were very large and well decorated. The family who owns and manages the property are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I got lucky to find this family run guest house in a quiet hill neighborhood in Arue. Laurence, Valerie and super chef son Tom were beyond hospitable and made a wonderful stay in Tahiti even more so. The personal touch was everywhere, breakfast was a treat, and the thoughtfully prepared dinner option was amazing. Five stars!!

Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Tahiti, Maison Taina is a true guest house gem, that encapsulates the essence of a tranquil family experience.
From the moment we arrived, which was around 2am, we were greeted by Laurent and Tom and felt the warmth of Tahitian hospitality. Valerie, Laurent and Tom went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our stay was special.

The accommodations at Maison Taina are modern with understated elegance and comfort.

One of the highlights of our stay was the culinary experience at Maison Taina. Tom made us a dinner showcasing the vibrant flavors of Tahitian cuisine using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It was the best meal we had on Tahiti! Perfectly grilled Mahi-mahi with a garlic and vanilla sauce and the best crème brulee we have ever had!

Laurent made us breakfast with croissants and café au lait and eggs and fresh fruit and Valerie and Laurent talked with us about the local culture and the “ma’ohi spirit of Tahiti.

In addition to its beautiful accommodations and delectable dining options, Maison Taina helped arrange a car rental for us, recommended beaches and best places to buy Tahitian pearls.

The beauty of Tahiti combined with the unparalleled hospitality of the French owners, Valerie and Laurent, created a memorable holiday that will linger in our memories.

The hosts could not have been nicer. They spoke both French and English. The food was outstanding for a fair price. I would not have eaten anywhere else for food as good. The rooms were clean and after 25 days of crewing on a catamaran the soaking tub was fabulous. The pool was the size of a family pool but just for us so it was perfect.

At our arrival, we were welcomed by our host, Laurent, at the airport. The maison is about 20 minutes drive. We got upgraded to a better room with a wonderful view and the location is pretty quiet. The only noise we hear was from the rooster which is typical in Tahiti. The breakfast was great, fresh tropical fruits, coffee, tea, juice, french croissants/ pain au chocolat accompanied with local fruits jam. Visitors will start a good day with this type of meal. Valérie was also very helpful and she gave us some good tips for the area. Tom, the chef, treated us with a gourmet dinner, very delicious.

Hosts Valerie & Lohan are friendly and make you feel at home, doing your laundry, lending snorkel gear, beach towels & sharing the best places to go for your interest. Great healthy breakfasts & option for gourmet dinner cooked by Chef Tom, Valerie’s son. Rent a car & stay here, for the best experiences in Tahiti, plus info & recommendations for other Islands. I made an incredibly good choice when I selected to stay at this wonderful guesthouse. The room had all the amenities I could ask for and the owners were incredibly helpful. The dinner with the owners and other guests was an absolute treat. Their chef Tom has incredible talent. I highly recommend Maison Taina as a great way to experience Tahiti from a local’s viewpoint. The stay surpassed any of my expectations and I’ll be staying there again soon!

The uniqueness of this place comes from both owners, Valerie & Laurent. When you arrive from a long trip, you just feel at home. The view is marvelous, the breakfast is almost a brunch with fresh fruits and local bread, eggs & jams. The design of the bedrooms has been thought with taste and are spacious. Not too many guests so you really feel (and they make you feel!) part of their family! I highly recommend this hidden gem just a little bit further than Papeete but it worth it, really.

Valerie and Laurent have transformed this home to a gem. The decor is tasteful, the rooms are spacious and bright, the fixtures and wallpaper makes you feel like you should when on an island vacation. The water is hot, the A/C is cold, and the wifi works mostly great. The hosts are truly like family, they open up themselves to their guests without hesitation. Tom is a hidden gem himself - young, mature, and extremely talented in the kitchen. He created dishes that I had never even heard of, and the result is phenomenal. The entire family is amazing, and a part of the Tahiti attraction! A few things to note when making your booking: the house is up in the hills and away from town, and you will not make it without a car; the house is up in higher elevation with great views of the ocean in the distance if you are on the second floor; this is a quiet residential neighborhood - that said, you will hear the roosters and cats (if they're in heat), so don't go unprepared: bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. I am generally a light sleeper, but honestly those roosters failed to bother me the second night onwards. I enjoyed my stay immensely as a solo traveler, and would highly recommend this booking.
