The pool was great and clean , warm and inviting, sun lounge chairs were nice, air conditioning was working well and kept the room cool and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit needy for repairs, but was ok .The restaurant was perhaps lacking in English speaking staff as we had asked for tea 3 times over 45 minutes with our meal , and it seemed they either didn’t want to or understand what tea was or didn’t want to get it , we weren’t upset but it was off putting and we left , also warm beer isn’t good. Grounds were amazing and pretty , love the roosters for waking us up and not wasting the day away lol. All in all , we would go back and enjoy, thank you to the Royal Tahitian for a good nights stay

The staff was so welcoming and helpful. Our room was available early so we could store our luggage to explore. The room was very clean and we loved the balcony overlooking the well-kept grounds. We especially loved the restaurant that overlooked the ocean. The food was very good. The pool was clean and inviting. Beautiful place!! Would definitely recommend staying here

The reception staff was very courteous. The room was clean but looked somewhat worn down. The pool was our biggest disappointment. The water didn’t seem very clean and the bottom tile was slippery. Like a slippery film was on it.

The restaurant food was good and the staff friendly, although we had some service issues.

Garden like grounds filled with blooming plumeria. Excellent a/c, wifi, nice pool, and on the beach. (Note black sand beach). Negatives - $20 taxi to town. Not much around the hotel except two gas stations with food but no booze. Hotel bar a little pricey but cheaper than taxi. The hotel pushes the $33 morning breakfast but i had toast and coffee for $8 which was all that i wanted. TV is 100% french.
Overall a bargain. The beautiful gardens and free range roosters made up for any shortcomings.

All was good , a bit dated, needs updating . Staff very helpful and friendly . Highly recommend this place . Very nice ocean area location and beautiful gardens.

Restaurant staff was extremely rude , lazy , non helpful and out right useless .

We recommend this hotel for comfortable stay but strongly condemn the restaurant staff and advise others to find other places near by for their food needs .

We loved the property, including the scenery, beach, pool, wildlife (delightful dogs, white cat, roosters and chickens). The food was very good. Loved the ocean view from the restaurant. Loved the black sand beach! The man (and dog) that met us at 4 a.m. were very nice. The room was great! Loved the little gift of monoi oil! The staff could have been more accommodating. The maintenance man at tge pool was using an electric pool cleaner in the pool in the middle ofctge afternoon while we were swimming. There was too much confusion at the front desk trying to get a taxi to our ship. We pre-ordered an 11 a.m. pickup, but they didn't order it until 11 a.m., delaying our pickup by at least an hour.

The rooms were nice. Very nice restaurant right on the ocean. We watch the sun go down with the island of Moorea in the distance. On the weekend they have entertainment in the bar area with a dance floor. Very nice. Good food.

Good price. Day staff ok. Night staff non existent. Guard didn’t speak English. Arrive at 10 pm. No water to purchase at desk and none in the room. The A/C was not on in the room and it was HOT! A/V needed room key in the slot to work. Took
Hours to cool off. Walking to our room was through the grounds and no lights nor directions to buildings. Lots of stairs to room.

Nice beach front with restaurant. Ok for a short stay. Hotel arranged a transfer from airport for a fee. About 15 or 20 mins with no traffic. I would not choose again. Bite the bullet and pay the big bucks.

My stay was just not good, I arranged a transfer with the hotel from the airport & they charged me twice what a taxi would have cost. The woman at the breakfast was rude, breakfast was not good, items gone & not replaced (eggs), the cost of breakfast was very high for what they offered, the black sand beach was a joke, the pool was very small & had very little chairs. The room was ok, typical of most hotels. I would not stay here again.

Great stay. Beautiful grounds, pool was prefect. We only stayed here one night on our way to Moorea. We loved the room although the bathroom is a little dated. The bed was super comfortable. My husband agreed we had a great night sleep, plus it was very quite. We would stay again.

This property has potential but is tired. Other than a view of the ocean from the restaurant you would never know it is ocean front as there is a concrete wall blocking the beach and ocean view for the entire property. Even if they're fighting coastal erosion, it would seem there would be a way to actually enjoy the ocean front setting better than what's in place currently.

The first night was in a run down room, but we stayed a week later and it was a very nice room, though the shower tub could ise updating. A nice though expensive breakfast buffet. The restaurant is a beautiful setting with tahitian vibes on the shoreline. Good food and good bands playing with locals dancing on weekends. Nice little pool, but very friendly and helpful staff. Overall, a less expensive option that worked fine for quick stays.

Stayed for 2 nights before our ferry to Moorea. We loved the pool area, very pretty & great place to chill after our long flights from the UK. Room was clean beds comfy. Breakfast was really nice & the lady that is there in the morning seating people & taking payments was lovely. All the staff were friendly & helpful. Great location for ferry & airport too. Only thing we found was food in the restaurant was quite pricey. But overall we enjoyed our stay & would definitely stay again when in Tahiti.

I had a lay over stop on my way to New Zealand, and the hotel was a nice stay, The staff was nice and friendly and my dinner was good. I didn’t have a change to walk around the ground because it was a storm off and on during my stay. But they did provide large Umbrella to move around the area.

This hotel is located right on the beach, but there is quite a rip current in the afternoon. Just be aware. The property is manicured, greenery everywhere. The pool is suitable for any age. Reception staff are super friendly (like most people in Polinesia), they kept our luggage till check-in and gave us pool towels. Restaurant has good options, their portions are quite big, we shared one. The room is great size and clean. The bed is comfortable.

They have tried to update the rooms - the bed was comfortable and room in decent shape, though the shower head is very old and placed very low. I expect that in the past the grounds were nice but they are now quite overrun with chickens and roosters and what once might have been a pretty pond and stream running through the property has been left stagnant. There is no useable beach and what bit of sand is there is littered with bottles and waste - I realize that the hotel doesn't control what washes up on the short but I would expect that they have their staff clean it. The price is reasonable so this might be a place to stay if you just need a night between flights or are not planning on spending time at the hotel during the day.

Scrolling through options that cost an arm and a leg, i was pleased to find this affordable option. Great staff, good food ( but after 4 days we had tried most options), comfy bed and beach access. Perfect wind down hotel after island hopping.

We stayed for 2 nights on the tail end of our island hopping and it was the perfect place to wind down in Papeete! Lots of parking, close enough to downtown area, great pool and beach setup as well as a nice lagoonarium. The room was very spacious for 4 and had a huge balcony.

Not too happy with the restaurant. The 4th time dinner there, I had a bad experience. After paying the bill, we were walking out of the restaurant and this brusque woman said \"hey, did you pay your bill?\" I was stunned as I just got done paying. Arrived late flight en route to Moorea and needed a night stay and it served the purpose. AC worked well, bed was comfortable. Shower a bit dated and no washcloths but very acceptable for a one night stay. No elevator to 2nd floor made it difficult with heavy luggage.

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Tahitien, even if it wasn’t as idyllic as we hoped.

The rooms were big, the beds were comfy and the resort was quiet.

The beach isn’t great, a black sand public beach, with lots of litter on it.

When we checked in, we enquired about a car rental, the receptionist said she would get that booked for us, so we went to confirm the following day, just to double check and we were told one hadn’t been booked as that rental place wasn’t open. Not sure what would have happened if we wouldn’t have gone in to confirm, as they hadn’t let us know.

Overall though, a good stay.

I like that the hotel was next to a beach, but unfortunately due to my late arrival I didn't get the opportunity to see or walk on the beach. It was a quiet hotel complex, but I didn't like having to walk by myself late at night through an open area to locate my room. I was not familiar with the hotel and the path was not particularly lit very well. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom needs updating.

The hotel rooms are constructed at an angle so each person’s patio is very private. The grounds are lovely with a nice pool. There is a restaurant right at the black sand beach edge. They serve a buffet breakfast at about $20 per person.
The hotel is in a quiet, safe area. It is on the opposite side of Papeete than the airport. So taxi ride at least $20 from the hotel to the city center. Also from airport to hotel at night it was $50 taxi. I suspect that was a padded fee.

Pros: the staff were good and helpful. The facilities were up to date and in good shape. The grounds were nice.
Cons: the rooms are all spread out over a large property. Some are on the second floor and obviously they couldn't have elevators. The restaurant is not air conditioned. There is really no dining nearby except for lunch. In general, the city seemed run down and not terribly safe.

The hotel is a reasonably hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious. Hotel grounds well cared for. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly.
The location was reasonable, approx 3km’s from Downtown Papeete, nothing a short bus ride or taxi ride couldn’t fix.
The restaurant was left wanting. The service was very poor, sometimes very slow, and wait staff abrupt. This was extremely disappointing, especially given there were no other eateries within a reasonable distance.

I traveled all the way to Tahiti to spread my son’s ashes in the ocean, and this hotel on the Expedia website website said, bask in the sun on our black sand beach. There was no place to lay on the beach, and it was filthy, with trash. I had pre-paid four nights, but we ended up checking out after two nights and moving to the Te Moana. They didn’t have towels for us to go to the pool. I would like to get a refund of the two nights that I prepaid due to false advertisement. The emotional importance of my trip could not have been spent at the royal Tahitian.

Stayed on a 2 day stopover in Tahiti. Chose this one as it seemed a decent budget option and, due to flight times Vs ferry schedule, it made sense to stay on Tahiti as we couldn't spend 2 nights on another island.

In terms of quality, the hotel was clean but very dated. The staff were helpful (we checked in late and they kept reception open, booked us taxis). We had an issue with our room key not working, but this was sorted immediately.

The hotel is just outside Papeete and it took us half an hour to walk from the hotel to the waterfront, although there's not much on the way except garages as it's a main road.

The restaurant and bar on-site are fantastic! No more pricey than Papeete, lovely people, live music on the weekend, wide menu and, importantly, great food!

Was hoping to get early check in since I was just staying for half a night till my midnight flight. Staff wanted to charge me an additional nights stay which was not worth it for the few hours. Ended up sitting in the restaurat that was not yet open so I brought in some snacks to hold me over till they open. I promptly got told I can't bring outside food into the restaurant. Terrible experience. would not reccommend.

It is a lovely place to stay . Very quiet and beautiful. Staff at front desk is very helpful. The staff that attends to the rooms never came to my room to clean during my time there. To swim in the pool was a separate charge. Even though it’s apart of the hotel. Not sure why it isn’t included .

This hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport by taxi.
The room are average size and nicely finished. There is a nice patio with chairs.
The AC is good. The beds are large and comfortable.
The water pressure in the shower is a little low.
There are no USB ports. Bring an adpater.
There is a nice pool.
There is a small black sand beach.
The property is walled and you need a key card to get thru the gate.
Grounds are nicely manicured.
Front desk staff provide good service. There can be a line at checkout time.
Ther restaurant is very nice, good selections and good staff. You need a reservation on some nights because locals also come here.

There is an ATM and convenience store just outside the property.

If you want to pull towels you have to walk to the front desk.

Good hotel for a good price

I wasn’t looking for a luxury hotel for the price of around a $100 USD per night so this hotel served its purpose well. It helped I had a rental car (free parking), used the beach and the very nice pool they have, and room was comfortable enough and had a hotel safe and fridge so was fine. Only things I didn’t like were the shower and shower head (too low for me as I’m very tall) and only French tv, wouldn’t mind just having CNN or at least one English Channel as an alternative since I only know a little bit of French. I didn’t try the restaurant so can’t comment on that either.

Great location with beach access and mountain views in distance. Staff are friendly. lotus plants in the creek and mini bridge are very unique and attractive landscape. can extend paved paths to connect building stair entrance and swimming pool
