Property is beautiful and staff is amazing. Issue is our AC in the room broke down during the night and It didn’t come til next day 10am and it was 34 Celsius or 94 Fahrenheit .

The food was average.

Last day of our stay we went for breakfast and when we came back to our room there was a small snake slithering under our bed which freaked us out. Not sure whether the snake was there overnight! Luckily we were checking out otherwise we would have left right away!

We stayed 3 nights at anantaya resort at the end of january as a family with our two kids (1 & 3 yo) and had a really nice time. The check in process was easy and smooth, the receptionist was very attentive to our needs. We stayed at a superior room and it was big enough for us, they even provided us with a babycot. The pool is big, there’s even a kids’ pool, and we saw some rooms have direct access to the pool. The staff is very helpful, friendly and always attentive to your needs.
The food is outstanding, you have the option to sit inside or outside overlooking a pond with fish and the ocean. Its beautiful. The morning breakfast buffet stood out for us as they also have halal options available.

The resort is away from the city very nice if you want to take time off to relax. There’s nothing much around however you can take a car or tuktuk to explore the city as it’s not too far.

Unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy the sea as much our first day because the waves were too rough however the rest of the days it was better.

Overall highly recommend this resort.

Amazing 10 days at Anantaya Resort & Spa

After our first 5 nights at the Anantaya Resort & Spa we were so satisfied with all, that we extended our stay for 4 nights more.
The resort is just amazing. The rooms are spotless clean, huge and great equipped. We had a great view to the sea and the pool. The pool is the biggest one we've ever seen - wow! Also the beach is like the caribbean sea or the maldives.
The food (we had breakfast and dinner) was delicious every day and the staff in the whole Resort (especially the waiters) were every time so friendly and courteous. Because we were sometimes the only guests (due the ongoing political situation in the country) we had the possibility to choose our own set-menu directly by the chef-cook and it was even so delicious!
Also the management of the resort is very kind and fulfills every wish. The price/ performance ratio is just perfect.
We enjoyed every minute at Anantaya Resort & Spa and can highly recommend it!
Thanks for the great time - we hope to come back again!!!

Relaxing hotel with wonderful staff

We had a very enjoyable time while staying here and were warmly greeted by friendly staff from the moment we arrived.

The rooms were very clean and furnished to a high standard, and if any issue came up the maintenance team resolved it quickly.

Breakfast and dinner buffets were enjoyable, with a good selection available every day. The restaurant and kitchen is ran by a hardworking team of managers, waiters and chefs who will go out of there way to help (even if like us you arrive to dinner 10 minutes before the retainer closes - thank you!). We also had some great cocktails at the bar.

The private beach is beautiful and the swimming pool was great too. The housekeeping washing and ironing service was quick and to an excellent standard. The room was quiet at night and we slept well.

I might suggest that guests research local tour operators if looking to explore, book airport transfers, or book leisure activities as the hotel prices were significantly more expensive.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Pasikuda, and look forward to returning again!

The staff was really friendly and fixed every issue we had. Proximity to the beach is excellent and the pool was wonderful. If you want a sea front room, the I suggest you take rooms on the ground floor.

We stayed for 3 nights and had an excellent stay. The staff from check in up to the lifeguards were all friendly and provided excellent service. The food was plentiful and fresh and the staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were spotless. The gardens were well manicured and well laid out, the pool was great. Great stretch of beach although it was windy and a bit rough. My son loved that the staff off duty joined in to play volleyball every evening. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend this property for relaxed holiday.
Only recommendation is if the beach could be cleaned up daily of all the plastic that gets washed ashore.

The staff, from the general manager, to the reception staff, to waiters, all went out of their way to make our stay a fantastic one. I could not stress this enough, but the service was exceptional. The hotel is beautifully done, has a great pool and a decent beach front. The rooms were very clean, try to get a room on a top floor if possible (3rd floor) as the views are better and less disturbances. I would definitely be coming back!!

Excellent place to spend time, massive pool, close to the beach, the rooms are extraordinary.

I was slightly not happy with the food, the buffet nor the à la carte menus ddnt have enough varieties and the hotel lacks indoor and other activities it will be more fun if it had a Tenis court, pool table or some indoor activities (hope the hotel will improve on these)

Apart from that it is Ananthaya of peace (Infinity peace)

Paradise on earth - no questions

Everything from arrival is absolutely perfect, and the staff really make the stay that little bit more special - even from 'shooing' away the local (small) geckos that tempted to come into our room by hanging around outside our door to make us more comfortable.

Brillant, tranquil stay

This hotel is quite simply wonderful. The location is completely tranquil, the staff are exceptional and attentive; however they are not in anyway overbearing and give you plenty of privacy. I would recommend going at least half board, as there are very few places nearby to eat elsewhere. Buffet selection for both breakfast and dinner were extremely plentiful and of an extremely high quality.

Best Hotel in Pasikuda

This hotel is along a stretch of pristine beach. There are 14 resorts all of which seem very private. The swimming is great and the sea is calm. There are jet skis and boats for hire as well. The Anantaya was built in 2016 and is the newest resort there. It is beautiful. We got a room that steps into the pool which I highly suggest paying the extra. It was very convenient to dining, the beach and swim up bar. The rooms are pristine and chic with great bedding and beautiful draperies.

The food was fresh and all natural using what the island has to offer. The kitchen staff and chef are very proud of their work. Their kitchen is super clean as we got to take a tour while we were there.

What makes this hotel even more special is the service. The kitchen staff befriended us, played volleyball with us and felt like family after 3 days. Max was our main waiter and he was a joy.

Wathsala the customer relations manager went over and above in everything we asked of her. If she could have come with us we would have taken her on the rest of our trip.

The people, the place, five star in any country.

Fabulous resort in super location

Booked a Deluxe room in Jan'18 and was pleasantly surprised not only with the luxuroius room & fittings but to cap it all we had our own private steps down to the pool that wa one of the best we used.
The staff were extremely professional & would go out of their way to assist or make your stay more comfortable, the food was excellent with such great variety- overall a 5 star & more resort on a beach

Hotel with potential but missed the mark

This hotel has been beautifully laid out with gorgeous gardens and a decent pool. However, on our arrival, our 3 deluxe rooms were not available and we were upgraded to a villa, which was very nice despite numerous problems with the hot water. Staff were generally disinterested in helping, the exception being the senior restaurant staff. What was the most disappointing thing was that upon check out we were being accused of opening a bottle of soda from the mini bar and then replacing the cap and not drinking it. When we said we did not touch the mini bar, the staff kept on looking at each other and were reluctant to take it off the bill. For the sake of roughly AU$2.50, this left a bad taste in our mouths. There are a large number of resorts in Passikudah, so you are able to take your pick.

Woderful design and Friendly Staff

Bathroom did not have a bathtub, which was said available at the room. It did not have a cloths rack too. Found some insects inside the room. We expected a upstairs room but got only ground floor one which did not have a good view.
One pool attendant was following us all the time which was inconvenient.
Other than that all the things are nearly perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice architectural design.

A gem on a beautiful sandy beach hidden away.

The hotel is new with a unique architecture. The service was exceptional from check in to dining to room service to check out. Our beach view room was breathtaking. We were able to see the lovely sunrise from the beach. The hotel is located directly on a beautiful sandy beach. The room layout was cozy and very clean.

Fantastic Hotel with a great welcoming feel to it.

We stayed for 3 nights coming from a neighbouring hotel, Maalu Maalu, there was no comparison Anantaya was a wonderful experience, very relaxed, friendly vibe, with very attentive helpful staff. I have to say it was a relief to arrive here from the chaotic, shabby stay at the aforementioned hotel.

A very nice retreat Hotel to relax.

Love the Hotel, the food is simply amazing if you love seafood and spicy but get the all inclusive food and drinks package because a la carte is expensive. The spa and massage are very good. The staff tries real hard to make everything perfect. They have a bird problem, hard to sleep in morning with 12 big crows are yapping on your balcony... and lot of crows stealing your food in plate and messing around your stuff left on chairs. I would go back to this hotel still. Only thing we did not like was the 75$ US to pick us up at local airport only 20 minutes car ride...after we paid 900 $ to fly in small charter airplane from Colombo airport to Batticaloa airport, the closest airport to hotel or it was 8-9 hours car or train ride to get to the hotel on other side of country...they could offer the shuttle for free or less.

Okay but not worth repeating

The room and property is nice, but there are so many little annoyances that just make you \"give up\".

Positives:
1. Beautiful Property
2. Great Pool
3. Comfortable Beds
4. Everyone smiles

Negatives
1. Same buffet-style food every day. Quality is medium and it is overpriced and not worth it. There is nothing else around, so you won't have a choice.
2. Pool closes at 7PM!
3. Staff are not properly trained. You have to tell them something 2-3 times ot get it done properly. There are a few star here and there, but they are rare within the group.

Overall it is a nice property, but I would try someplace else if I was to come again. Nothing to make me come back.

Only one word - EXCELLENT!

We were so happy with our stay, it's a total package in everything. For us, it is the best resort in Passikudah: Thai-Balinese design of the hotel, beautiful swimming pool, big comfy room, great food and drinks, on top of that what makes it special is the genuine hospitality of the staff.

Will be a great location in the future

Nice for a couples stay. Lovely pool and great view. Incredibly expensive though and they are still finding their feet servicewise along with there still being some ongoing construction. There is not actually a spa on site, as of yet anyway. Staff need more training.

Хороший пятизвёздочный отель

Хороший пятизвёздочный отель. Очень качественные материалы отделки, эргономичный номер (останавливались в Pool suite), отлично убирают 2 раза в день, вкусная кухня. Минус: кофе низкого качества, медленный интернет, отсутствие йогурта или curd на завтрак.
Площадь номера указывается с учётом бассейна и лужайки, т.е. сам номер не 90 метров, а около 35-40.
Для ребёнка можно заказать специальное блюдо.
Рекомендую брать HB или FB: питание по меню будет дороже.
Пляжные развлечения около отеля Marina: sup, windsurfing, кайяк. Минут 10 по пляжу.
Кораллов около отеля нет и спуск очень плавный, волны слабые или нет совсем: купаться одно удовольствие.

Fantastisk strand og flott resort!

Vi hadde fine dager på Anantaya - stranden er helt fantastisk, uteområdene på resorten er flotte, bassengområdet er lekkert og rommene komfortable. Effektiviteten på restauranten er ikke så bra, men maten er god og betjeningen er vennlig.

Prachtig hotel maar er mist iets

Prachtig hotel mooie omgeving prachtig strand, tuin en zwembad. Kamer ook mooi maar er mist iets. Hotelpersoneel is vriendelijk maar geeft net niet dat extra gastvrije gevoel - hun Engels is ook beperkt. WiFi is alleen goed op Android op iPhone dramatisch. Eten en drank te duur waardoor niemand naar bar gaat, introduceer bv happy hour en maak een zitje op t strand! Leuk italiaans meisje die yoga en Aquajoggen geeft zij brengt wat levendigheid in het zeer rustige resort! Buiten hotel is niks alleen andere hotels langs het strand. Prima hotel voor rustzoekers verder beetje saai. Goede sportschool.

Absolut ruhig, toller, beinahe leerer Strand, extrem freundliche, bemühte Angestellte, tolles Essen, andere Gäste angenehm und eher von der ruhigen, gesitteten Kategorie, schöne Ausflugsmöglichkeiten - insgesamt ein perfekt erholsamer Urlaub :-) Das Resort ist eines der besten in dem wir je waren (und das sind einige).

Den perfekta resorten för skandinaver !

Vår vistelse på Anantaya var helt magisk. Salta vågor som sköljer in över den perfekta sandstranden. Man kan vandra längs stranden i flera km, man möter vänliga lokala fiskare, en och annan turist som hälsar hjärtligt. Det finns ett lugn på den här platsen som går in i ens själ. Man vaknar på morgonen, sitter med kaffe/thekoppen på terrassen och tittar ut över ett blå/grönt hav, beostararna hoppar omkring på gräsmattan, tjattrar och visslar. Blå och gröna biätare jagar insekter i morgonluften. Man går de få stegen bort till stranden, kniper med tårna i den varma sanden. Går rakt ut i ett kristallklart vatten, varmt och vänligt, klarar av morgondoppet, inte en människa så långt ögat når. Långsamt släntrar vi bort till frukostbuffén, säger knappt ett ord, vi överväldigas av allt det vackra omkring oss. Vi möts av leende och varm personal som visar oss våra platser. Vi äter med andakt och ögonen dras automatiskt mot havet. Här och var ute mot horisonten syns fiskare på väg hem efter nattens fiske. Servitören frågar om allt är bra, om det är, det kan liksom inte bli bättre. Hela vår vistelse på två veckor var som att befinna sig i något slags Nirvana. Vi har aldrig blivit så uppassade, aldrig känt en sådan livsglädje som vi gjorde de två veckorna på Anantaya i Passikudah.

Völlig neue Hotelanlage direkt am Strand.

Im Anschluss an unseren wunderbare Djoser-Rundreise gönnten wir uns noch 1 Woche Badeurlaub an der wunderschönen und weniger frequentierten Ostküste. Das Anantaya befand sich gerade im \"Pre-Opening\" und war teilweise noch im Bau, was uns allerdings wenig störte, zumal wir vom Manager sogar noch einen weiteren Discount als kleinere Entschädigung erhielten. Unser grosses Luxus-Zimmer im 3.Stock mit Meerblick, das tolle Essen, der riesige Pool und der menschenleere Strand entschädigten für den durchaus zu ertragenden Baulärm.
Das Personal war zwar noch im Trainee-Modus, aber stets bemüht, den wenigen Gästen jeden Wunsch zu erfüllen.
Wir hatten eine tolle und erholsame Zeit im Anantaya und können, trotz damaliger Baustelle, das Haus jederzeit weiterempfehlen.

Paradise in Passikudah

We (family of 4 with kids 11 and 14 years old) stayed 4 Nights at Anantaya Resort in the end of July 2016. The hotel was not finished when we stayed there, but nevertheless - we loved it. The location is absolutely beautyful, Beach is awesome (hardly any People on the Beach and so clean and Nice), the hotel arcitecture is spectacular and rooms very Nice with digital TV so all 4 of us could sit in the enormous bed and watch 500+ photos from the 2 weeks of experience we have had in Sri Lanka before coming to Passikudah.
We want to send a special thank you to the staff at the hotel who was so kind and friendly - everybody from the General Manager to the house keepers and especially the guys in the restaurant who were both very Professional and still taking the time to talk to us.
We would love to come back and see this superb hotel finished. We wish you all the best of Luck

Potentially very nice hotel

This hotel only opened a few weeks ago which we didn't know, neither were we informed that it was still under construction when we booked it beginning of July: thus, when we arrived, we were very surprised to see that half of the site is still a construction site. As a result there is no spa nor fitness centre yet, and the main pool was not available. We did get upgraded to one of the very luxurious villas to make up for all of this, which included its own private pool and was amazing. The staff is very efficient, which we have found to be quite rare throughout our holiday in Sri Lanka, and so is the food, which again, is rarely the case. Our stay was great because of all the attentions and extras we received: I would probably recommend though waiting another month or 2 until construction is completed, if you want your stay to be perfect. All in all a wonderful stay though.

Wunderschönes Hotel mit paradiesischem Strand

Wir waren für 4 Nächte im Anataya und unsere Erwartungen wurden absolut übertroffen! Die Zimmer und die Architektur des Hotels sind einzigartig und laden zur absoluten Erholung ein! Die komplette Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und man fühlt sich hier sehr wohl! Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend, höflich und absolut hilfsbereit!! Das Essen ist hervorragend, wir hatten den besten Hummer. Wir können dieses Hotel zu 100% weiterempfehlen, hier kann man sich nur wohfühlen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!
