We stayed here in February to celebrate our birthdays and had any amazing time. The staff are beautifully friendly, the property is always clean with staff tending to every area throughout the day. Bedroom was large, bed was very comfy and shower was very good!

Shakila at breakfast was very good. She went out of the way to service us. There were 2 male receptionist staff also were great! Forgot their names.
Expedia had listed standard room as ocean view, but the property didn’t acknowledge as ocean view for standard room. We got the room we wanted after explaining it, they were accommodating.
Will go back again.

A decent seaside venue with good facilities. Nice layout. However some maintenance and service deficiencies with AC unit leaking stagnant water that needed multiple calls for clean up. Maintenance crew only mopped the dirty water and left a air fresher for the guests to use. Had to call room service to have rest of the clean up completed. No engagement by property management at all. The pool, beach and bar staff are very pleasant and courteous. However front desk and onsite managers need more training in customer service and ensuring that they listen to the guests instead of being dismissive. Other properties in the location have nicer beaches and better trained more friendly and responsive management. The adjacent usable public beach is crowded. Not meeting standards of an Expedia VIP property in terms of overall standards and service.

3 star rating is due to drivers quarters not being available during our stay. They are charging enough that there should be appropriate accommodations for drivers - they are very much a part of the trip and need to be well rested for long drives to and from Pasikuda.

Beautiful property with friendly and helpful staff. The food is delicious with options for all visitors. Gym had good equipment and the pool and grounds are lovely. My only suggestion would be to have an iron in all rooms it would have been helpful with my wrinkled dresses.

Great stay overall.

Lovely hotel in a great position with snorkeling directly from the beach.Rooms great and comfortable , staff friendly and helpful. Very quiet unless a wedding is happening. Beach shoes required. Only negative is the buffet meals are mostly cold and some loud guests on the beach with music pumpin out.
We looked at the other hotels in the area and this was for sure the best choice.

This was our second visit to Amaya and was happy to be able stay here again. The ambience and staffs were very pleasant. The beautiful Pasikuda makes Amaya a great place to stay in.

The only thing was the hotel is based in the Tamil speaking region so it would’ve been great to be greeted and approached in Tamil as well. Kindly use both the national languages or use English entirely.

Great sized pool on the beach but you need to walk along from there to public beach and beyond as you cannot swim from hotel beach as it is coral. Limited options to dine outside of hotel as pubs and restaurants few and far between Transport on leaving hotel difficult to arrange though tuk tuk drivers outside hotel really helpful with this

Overall the experience was great, the only feedback I would give is that one of the staff members tried to charge me 1000 rupees to play on the pool table for an hour, which I think wasn’t think was fair. The pool table is located right by the bar where people are already purchasing drinks, and to be charged to play pool I Personally don’t agree with. Other than that, the hotel and breakfast was great!

I came here with my husband and toddler (a year and a half old). Overall we had a great time. What we liked:
- The view was breathtaking!
- Our housekeeping staff Ajithkumar was amazing to us! He always greeted us and asked if we needed our room cleaned. And when he did, we were greeted with a pleasant surprise, a swan scultpture made out of towels and a really cute elephant scultpture for our son. So much talent!
- Our room was VERY spacious which was great for our toddler son who loves to run around. And our room came with a HUGE balcony . There was an entire garden! It was amazing!
- Our room was clean and the bedding was very comfy!
- Easy access to the beach which is very comvenient
- The hoppers at the hopper station at breakfast was amazing.
- Great ambience! Loved the overall feel of the space. From decor to the music, it was very nice.
- Shakila from the restaurant was very nice to us. She always welcomed us with a warm smile and helped us with whatever we needed. She even interacted with our toddler son which was great!
What we thought could have been better:
- We felt like some of the staff gave the \"foreigners\" better/special treatment. I'm a Canadian with brown skin who could be mistaken for a local and I felt like at times,we weren't treated like the \"white skinned\" guests. That's a shame!
- The food overall was mediocre. A lot of the food was bland. The a la carte menu was so much better than the buffet. Still not much to rave about.

This hotel is a lovely building right on the beach. It’s very clean, the rooms are spacious and the staff are very friendly- particularly Shakila and Vishwa in the dining room.
The cricket was on during our 4-night stay and although I understand that it’s a big thing in Sri Lanka, having it on (loudly) on a big tv screen in the bar/lounge area all day & evening was annoying to say the least. Most guests sat away from the area and the staff were watching it!
The number of places to eat/drink near the hotel are extremely limited so bear that in mind if you like to explore a little.
Would I recommend the hotel? Yes, if you want to have a peaceful few days and evenings eating at the hotel and relaxing (not when the cricket is on though!)

3 days and night of hell, no safe place to swim, only a children’s pool. Beach on next property was crowded with bus loads of noisy people playing very loud music every day all day, stayed in room all day, but no peace from the noice next door to the hotel. Hotel was otherwise nice, but impossible to enjoy! WiFi very slow,had to renew pass word every morning

Beautiful resort on the Beach

This resort is very modern with huge rooms, large pool and lovely lawns running down to the beach.
The staff are pleasant and the rooms are fitted out beautifully.
The beach immediately in front of resort is quite corally, however if you walk to the left it is stunning.
We like to eat outside hotels to experience the local restaurants, however it is very quiet around this area and choice for good eating is extremely limited.
If you just want to chill out and not leave the resort this place is perfect.

Stayed two nights with the family. in two rooms. Booked through Hotels.com site which gave a better price than the Amaya Beach hotels own website. This is situated among a series of new luxury hotels in Passikudah which were built after the long years of war, which ended in 2009. I could not help the feeling that the mushrooming of these hotels are eating into each other with not enough occupancy.
Pros
Large area of land, probably the largest premises among similar hotels in Passikudah. We walked along the beach from one corner to the other , looking at all the hotels and felt that Amaya is the greenest and calmest of all.
Architecture is old, probably like mid 90's compared to the other hotels in the area. But it is unique and feels serene at the same time. Large open spaces, very wide corridors. Frangipani trees full of flowers, which they pluck and use for decorations, Well maintained coconut trees in the backyard/pool area are all interesting features.
Rooms were good. large, beds comfortable, room amenities great. I believe most of their rooms have a Sea view with a balcony, except perhaps for 10 rooms or so.
House keeping is good, comes another round in the afternoon inquiring if the clients need refills etc.
Power saving features include automatic turning off AC once you open the door to the balcony.
Buffet dinner and BF were good with a reasonable variety but , may not be satisfactory to everyone ( F&B is perhaps the most difficult area to cater to everyone's

nice hotel , good location by the beach

We booked in for two nights but left after just one. Night wasa nightmare. Mosquitoes were humming and biting in the room and under covers. To make it worst bed bugs joined in too.It leaves you itching and scratchy, blistered bruised and very red.
We ordered al a carte lunch from the hotel restaurent and ended up womitting through the night.
Though we checked out after i night the hotel charged us for two nights saying that they have to give commision ti expedia for 2 nights that were booked

Great hotel for families. Nice rooms, great pool, table tennis, games and safe shallow beach frontage. Excellent food and service was generally good. Anxious times when checking in - hotel had no record of our Expedia booking. Luckily I had thumb drive with all various booking confirmations. Issue was sorted and we were upgraded to swankier rooms (x2) overlooking beach. This was maybe out of necessity as we were initially offered upgrade on a payment basis but declined. Whilst opulent and manicured both inside and out, it very much lacked that earthiness and authenticity that some of our other more eco-friendly lodgings offered along the way. That's not a knock .. just a personal preference.
