The hotel is a good base for the museums. It is outside the main city centre but there are plenty of places to eat in leibsplein which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel

This hotel is ideal for a budget trip to Amsterdam. It’s in a great location, the staff were friendly and the room was clean and in my opinion, slightly larger than I was expecting for the price. I loved the little lounge area on the first floor, perfect for relaxing with a book after hours of pacing round the city!

The room is very small even for two people if you have big luggages (not a surprise though as this is AMS). The closet is just enough for a coat and a few clothes. Bathroom is tiny but efficient. I didn’t realize it did not have AC but they do have fans. Even in winter, our room got warm as it faced the sun in the afternoons (and we were lucky enough to have gotten sunny days during our stay). On the plus side, the location is prime, close to the Museumplein tram stop. You will not run out of dining options around the vicinity. Staff was kind and helpful. If you are solo or a couple with just hand luggage and staying only a few days, this is the perfect hotel for you.

This hotel is really well situated in the museum quarter. It's in a safe and relatively peaceful location in for the middle of Amsterdam. The room was comfortable and clean with a lovely hot shower.

Breakfast didn't have the widest choice but there was still plenty to chose from and it was of good quality. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I had a terrible experience at Hotel Cornelisz. My room had bed bugs, and I ended up with more than 15 bites, which triggered an eczema flare-up and completely disrupted my trip. I had to be moved to another hotel, spend time at a pharmacy, and deal with the stress of cleaning all my belongings.

The hotel has refused to take responsibility or offer a refund, despite the room being uninhabitable. Really disappointing and not what I expected — I would not stay here again.

The location is excellent and convenient to museums, dining, shopping, Vondelpark, and a canal stroll. Jaren at the front desk was very helpful in resolving an issue for us and providing directions.
The stairs were very steep and narrow. Fortunately, there is an elevator but not to the breakfast room. Our room was small and not great lighting.I would stay at this hotel again given its ideal location.

This hotel has bed bug infestation. We realised the first day and they did refund us the booking fees. However, when told the staff about it, they replied with a “sorry” and not even looked surprised. Didn’t also want to check the room to see if there really are bugs. I was really shocked that they knew about this and still didn’t do anything about it before giving us the room. Stay away at all cost. Seems they don’t care about the health and safety and just want to make money.

We also had to throw away some clothes, which the hotel has not compensated for, although the reception said they would ask the manager to contact us.

This property was conveniently located next to shops and dining but the hotel needs renovation, the windows are thin and we heard every conversation that was had and every car that drove by. The mattresses were horrible and woke up feeling achy, even with the 2 inch foam. The bathrooms were also very small and the wood floors were dirty, when walking barefoot. Not the best comfort experience, but if you don’t mind simple comfort, the location is great!

Elegant and peaceful hotel in a perfect location. Mere steps from Rijksmuseum and easy access to major tram and bus lines (including the 397 which goes to and from Schiphol airport). Very safe neighbourhood - felt more than comfortable walking back at night. My room was a standard single European hotel room, which means it’s very small, however, it was immaculately clean and comfortable. Cannot recommend this place enough. If you are a walker/cyclist and don’t want to take public transportation, you are only a 20-25 minute walk from major attractions and neighbourhoods.

Will absolutely stay here again.

Ps- the staff that checked me in were very lovely and even had my room ready a half hour before check in time. Wonderful.

Very close to the Rijks Museum, Van Gogh Museum, Moco museum and a casino. We explores much of old Amsterdam by foot from here. Most interesting sights and destinations are within 30 minutes. There were countless dining options within a 15 minute walk.

They said they tried to contact me. I got no calls or emails. Nowadays there is more than one way to contact a customer, with all the information you provide. The room was hot. We did not have blankets in the ed. The tv did not work and the layer of dust on the cord was truly unbelievably gross. The hair ball in the show was gross the dust and crumbs and bottle caps under the bed were gross. We complained about the dirt in the morning and they said they would clean it then- too late. We cancelled and left immediately

Initially read reviews, which were good and this hotel seemed ideal location. Front desk staff very friendly, BUT, got completely bitten all over by bedbugs, room 411, even took pictures and videos of the bugs in the room. Staff were sympathetic and reimbursed the stay, however, on returning home, with worsening bites, swelling, pain, blistering and itching, i went back and read many other reports of bed bugs at this hotel, even one from 2023 in same room. We arrived at 11pm- the attendant was friendly. Exiting the elevator you have a substantial dip in the floor and an open stairwell- so a bit scary.Got to the room and it was dirty, hit, and the beds did not have blankets. We went to turn on the tv- and the plug was tied in a know and no joke - a thick layer of dust on it. We called down to ask for a blanket and to see if the tv works. Blanket was delivered - and no tv does not work. Too tired to argue. Got up, had a shower - the surround is covered in mold and white plaque- I lost an earring so had to look at the drain- there was a massive hair ball so I could not take the cover off and look. I went to look under the bead to hopefully see if the earring was there- no but there were bottle caps, food crumbs, and dust bunnies. We left that day. We argued with the new person at the front desk that said they would clean the room- no- it should have been cleaned before! I have photos of everything.

The hotel had a cute breakfast and common areas. Unfortunately my room had bed bugs. I went down to the lobby at 2 in the morning with a video and they moved me to a new room but didn’t offer any compensation or even reply when I sent an email after. It’s quite disruptive to have to pack everything up in the middle of the night - and that doesn’t even consider the feeling that you have bugs everywhere.

It was a horrible experience - we booked and paid for this hotel months ahead and not until we arrived were we told it had a sudden problem and they couldn't accommodate us. They had arranged however to put us a nearby but lesser grade hotel. We went to see and had to agree because we were tired. However, they would not reimburse us for the difference in hotel rooms. We booked a superior room and ended up with just a shabby 2-3 star hotel room. There was no breakfast in the new one. In total we paid abt 370 euro exc tax for 2 nights and the new hotel was only 120 euro per night. Yes, we have asked Hotels.com to do sth but after nego, they just said it's the hotel management and rules for no refund! Totally unacceptable. We know accidents happened but this arrangement is totally out of proportions.

Location is great. Easy acces to public transportation. Walking distance to museums and attractions. You can buy a transportation card for your entire stay and its cheaper than uber or a ride to the airport. You can take the bus from the airport to the hotel. The bus stop is 3 blocks away. If you have an early flight you will need to take an uber. Public transportation doesn't start to early. You need to check their schedule.
The only bummer was no a/c but they provide a big fan.

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel ended on a very disappointing note.
On the morning of my departure, I found a bed bug in my bed, which is absolutely unacceptable in any accommodation — especially in a city like Amsterdam. It was extremely upsetting and made me worry about the possibility of bringing bed bugs into my luggage or clothing.

Additionally, the night before, when I got into bed, I found my own phone charger under the sheets, as if the bed had only been made on top of it, without properly checking or changing the bedding. That raised serious concerns about cleanliness and attention to detail.

When I informed the front desk upon checkout, the only response I received was: “We are really sorry.” No further explanation, no follow-up, and no offer of compensation, even though this happened literally as I was leaving.

I’m sharing this in hopes that the hotel takes this feedback seriously — because cleanliness, safety and proper room hygiene should never be compromised.

Bedbugs! Do not stay here! After 3 nights in this hotel I came back home with bedbug bites in my arms and neck. The first night I noted the sheets were not really clean, but I was very tired and didn’t care. The next night I saw the comforter was dirty and after the third night I saw the bites in my arms and neck!
The only good thing was the location, but I do not recommend this hotel, there are more in that same area. Also, they don’t have AC, and in summer you need to leave the windows open and that area is very noisy, so overall it was an unpleasant experience.

It was a little noisy outside in the evenings with street cars and people. We visited in July, and with no air conditioning we needed to keep our windows open.

Great location but unfortunately my room had bed bugs and I didn’t realize I was bitten until 1-2 days after I checked out. I thought it was mosquito bites because there were a couple in the room when I walked in (they left the windows open because there’s no AC). Even though they service people were very nice, helpful and kind, the rooms were not satisfactory. We stayed in two different rooms and each night I had received bug bites. We were forced to move out and find another hotel for the additional two nights we stayed in Amsterdam which created a huge inconvenience. Even though the personnel was kind and understanding, we still haven’t received the full refund they had promised us. Also as promised, the manager still hasn’t officially responded or reimbursed us. This is very disappointing.

From what I could find, this hotel is in a 150yo building. So don't expect AC although the windows open for air and they provide a fan. I don't think there was a level floor in the building 😆, the floor in my room was squeeky. There was a small step up into the bathroom and stairs are necessary to use to go down to the breakfast area so not easily accessible for a non-walking person. Location was excellant, very walkable, close to public transit and museums, lots of great restaurants and close to the main canals. I highly recommend doing a guided bike tour to best see the city and learn the history. Staff at the hotel were excellant and friendly. I would stay here again although not in the heat of the summer.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to Amsterdam visitors. Located within a short walk of all the major museums, on perhaps the fanciest shopping street in the city, and convenient to many tram lines, the hotel offers comfortable rooms (European in size) and a delicious, ample buffet breakfast. The staff is friendly and happy to help. The street can get rather noisy on weekend nights, and there's a good deal of construction in the area at present, but those are the only drawbacks. We were there four nights, which cost about $1400 American. I thought it was well worth it.

We stayed at the Cornelisz on April 24 and 25. This is a very old, very charming hotel with an elevator...if the narrow winding staircase is challenging for you. The breakfasts were the best of any hotel we've stayed and very reasonably priced. The staff, from reception to kitchen cook, were always helpful and gracious to this only English-speaking couple. Museums, restaurants and shopping were all within a short walk. We can't say enough good things about the wonderful staff and hotel location.
