This hotel was BEAUTIFUL! The pictures do not do it any justice. We stayed at the overwater villas for one night and the service was exceptional. The food was good. They brought a floating breakfast that was delicious. Even the regular villas were really nice. Also “the rock”restaurant was 15 mins away.

This resort is the closest I've been to a natural paradise. My stay was incredible in every possible way. The Isaraya overwater bungalows are beautifully decorated and you feel like you're living in your own personal paradise looking out onto the ocean, your private pool, and the fishermen who pass by. The food was amazing with lots of different choices of local dishes including fresh fish and fruits daily. The best part of all was the staff. They were so helpful, especially when you try to speak a few words in swahili, and will do all they can to serve you, even dinner on the beach, on request. Beatrice, the hospitality manager, was absolutely incredible and the kindness of the whole team will make your trip exceptional. It is very quiet there, day and night, which is what I was seeking, but no night life except a couple of evenings where there was music, so if you're wanting fun, I'd go elsewhere or you'll need to book a taxi every day. It is about 90 minutes from Stone Town or the spice farm, so most visits will be a full day trip due to the roads. Some people complain about the Maasai, but they guard the property. They made me feel safe, and they are lovely to chat to. Of course they'll try to sell you something, but just be polite, laugh with them, and negotiate, you'll be so glad you did because it'll add to your memories. I personally had an unforgettable stay and I can't wait to go back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Isayara luxury over water villa and konokono beach resort garden villa. The staff is very kind and available whenever you need them. We felt very welcomed and care for. The place is juste amazing and calm. We stayed in a garden villa for 3 nights and in an overwater villa for another 3 nights due to availability of the overwater villa when we booked. We loved both villas. The garden villa was so spacious and clean. The pool in the garden was very nice. We really enjoyed the daily visit of the monkey’s there.

But of course the highlight of our stay was the overwater villa. WOW. The view everywhere in the villa. We spent most our day in our own little pool or the ocean on high tides. It was just a perfect relaxing moment. Room service was so efficient, we just had to call in to get some drink delivered. We really loved our stay at this property.

It’s a fair drive from main attractions, but we didn't mind it as we booked our tours with hotel pickups. The hotel is worth the drive.

Jambo… It was following a safari trip and we stayed a week to unwind and relax!!! The place, specifically the beach, was like paradise… Catered to couples and newlyweds… But even though I was there with a friend, I would definitely go back for some R&R!!! However, the service was slow, the waiters didn’t speak that well English, we didn’t have hot water the last 3 nights of our trip… And even though they sent maintenance every day, the problem never got resolved… And the bathroom leaked as well but luckily we had 2 in our apartment and we were able to use the other one!!! The food was delicious and the drinks too!!! Even though we encountered these issues, we’d go back in a heartbeat!!! Asante sana…

Absolutely WONDERFUL! The perfect honeymoon spot

My husband and I split our time in Zanzibar between two places. Our first stay was a the KonoKono resort and in the over water villas. It was absolutely fabulous and honestly the nicest hotel room/villa we have ever experienced. We felt totally spoilt by the hotel and well looked after for our stay. The food was delicious! I have a severe allergy to garlic and gluten and they catered to my needs so I didn’t feel like I was missing out.

The room was stunning with a gorgeous view from the balcony. The cleanliness was impeccable.

The bed was huge and so comfortable too and we slept very well during our stay.

The floating breakfast was so decadent and really fun. We also loved the Tanzanian food night - fish masala curry was to die for!

The resort is also extremely close to The Rock Restaurant which is an incredible experience.

Charles was absolutely fantastic. He is a real credit to the team at the hotel. Jackson and Rosemary took great care of us during our stay too. Thank you so much!

Points to consider…
The road on the way up to the hotel was extremely bumpy but it would not deter us from returning. It’s just not ideal if you are planning to do lots of trips in and out.

Personally, if you are staying in the water villas I think I better system should be in place for transporting bags (like a buggy or something similar) the walk was lovely but quite long if you are carrying things.

Absolutely amazing stay at Isaraya! Not enough words to describe the resort. The over water villa was magical, it was very spacious and had its own pool! The beach was immaculate with white sand and crystal clear water. There were sun loungers for us to use and a beach bar near the pool that delivered food and drinks. Both the restaurants had amazing food and the dinner buffet at Konokono restaurant was delicious. They also had local entertainment which was great. The staff were so friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. Room service was very efficient as well. Overall we will never forget our stay here and hope to come back some day!

This was the perfect place for a holiday!
The hotel is located in the best possible spot, with easy access to everything you need, yet surrounded by peace and nature — absolute harmony.
The beach is simply stunning — the cleanest and most beautiful we’ve seen, with incredibly fine, soft sand like powder. A true paradise!

We stayed in a villa with a private pool, and it was absolutely amazing! We especially recommend the overwater villas — it’s not just a stay, it’s a true experience.
Housekeeping was done twice a day, everything was always spotless and perfectly maintained.

The staff were exceptionally attentive — kind, welcoming, always ready to help. You can truly feel their genuine care and dedication to top-level service.
The cuisine was outstanding — breakfasts and five-course dinners felt like dining at a Michelin-star restaurant. Delicious, refined, and beautifully presented.

Evenings featured live music and shows, creating a wonderful, festive atmosphere.
If you’re interested in local excursions, they’ll organise everything quickly and at great prices, including smooth, reliable transfers.

And a special mention goes to their attention to detail: on our way to the airport, the staff called the taxi driver to make sure he wouldn’t make any stops and would get us there on time. I’ve never experienced such care and consideration — absolutely top-tier service!

The resort is just a paradise on earth! Absolutely loved our stay. The staff were ever very helpful and friendly. Shout out to Glory & reception team for always arranging our moving, Mary, Jackson in the restaurant for always being helpful. Aman helpful with excursions. Stayed in the beach pavilion, the 2 bed sea view villa and the over water villa to get the experience. Each and every one of them was amazing although my favourite is the over water villa! They were cleaned on a daily basis and it’s the first hotel I have had no issues with dust! Thank you guys. The only issue was the Masai men hiding to sell their stuff. It was a bit annoying. See you again soon.

I throughly enjoyed my stay at the Kokono resort. The service was exceptional by staff. The resort if very quaint, peaceful yet full of its own little luxuries such as the beach, the view and the exceptional staff. The food was diverse each night and delicious.

This was a birthday trip for me in which the staff made me feel celebrated by decorating my room and making me a cake! It was so sweet and pleasantly delightful.

Just note that they are located in the village which means the roads are not greatly intact which makes traveling into and out of the village very bumpy and there is no gym which forces true relaxation but they do provide some aquatic activities.

I recommend this as 9/10 and plan on returning on my next trip to Zanzibar!

Konokono was a beautiful resort. I really enjoyed the beauty of the bungalow beach villa we stayed in. It was my birthday and they welcomed me with a little decoration in the room which was so cute. The food was great, it definitely gave fine dining but the fixed menu for dinner was delicious. The staff were very nice and helpful. There are monkeys on site, which was cool. They also have someone you can book activities with at lobby. The beach is beautiful but close up to shore needs to be cleaned and or need to put a garbage near by so people don’t litter. The only thing i could say about this hotel is that it is a very quiet and peaceful resort. Not much amenities. So if you are looking for somewhere to just have peace and quiet then this is your place. There is no vibes here just a laid back getaway. Beatrice was very nice and the staff as well. I think it would be good for them to promote that this hotel is a tranquility hotel so that people are not caught off guard with the type of vibes they may be looking for during their stay. Nevertheless it’s a beautiful resort in Zanzibar.

Perfect stay in Zanzibar. If you want a quiet, cosy and well-maintained place in the island, Konkokoro is an ideal place to stay. We felt like having a private beach :). The food was delicious. The staff was so nice. Facility is clean.

Overall, it was an absolutely amazing experience - we stayed in the over-water villa.

Extremely helpful staff, great service, amazing food options, the views were incredible, 2 restaurant options so overall very pleased with that.

One thing to be aware of is that they do have an electricity issue where randomly in the middle of the night, they are left with no electricity. I was told it's the whole island problem so bear that in mind. Also, their villas aren't entirely sealed so I had a few ants crawl into my luggage and a few lizards on the outside of the villa.

It is a bit further out from the rest of the island so you'll need a hire car or taxi to get to other places if you do decide to leave the resort.

Overall: I'd highly recommend it! Thank you for a wonderful hospitality.

My stay at konokono in the over water villa was horrendous taking in to consideration how much you are spending. The food variety and the actual food itself is extremely poor, I ordered beef but it was though I was chewing on a tyre. The only thing good was the fruit. I previously went to 2 hotels in Zanzibar before konokono which were also 5* where the food was prepared by excellent chefs.

Furthermore, the overwater villa is not private at all, whilst taking a shower there are fisherman and boats which go past and there’s no curtain on the window so you can be seen naked. The interior of the room is out of date and a lot of dust when taken a look at in detail.

The worse part is where the hotel is located, it’s a 10-12 minute bumpy ride once you see the sign of the hotel.

Would not recommend this hotel at all, Riu palace is an excellent place located in a lively area. Alma boutique is also very good if you are looking for somewhere a little more quiet.

I give konokono 3*

We loved our stay on this property! Our room was clean, the meals were great, and the staff was very friendly. We had no issues with the electricity or air conditioning. There were times when that water pressure would drop, but that didn’t affect our stay as we weren’t in the room often as we soaked up every minute of the beach and pool that we could! The staff arranged our transfers to and from the airport, as well as to The Rock Restaurant one day. All of our taxis were professional, kind and on time. We enjoyed chatting with the staff and felt very cared for and safe. We would definitely stay here again!

I'll start with what we liked.
We were staying at Isaraya Owed Water Villa.
The villa looks really nice, as in the photos, the view is gorgeous (I spent several hours every early morning looking at the ocean and the sunrise from my bed, it was really hypnotizing).
There is a special restaurant on the ocean only for guests from over water villas (it looks interesting and gives the guests a feeling of exceptionality).
We also liked the floating breakfast (you don't have to pay extra for it).

And what did we not like?
Very dirty pool in our Over Water Villa, rust in the pool, worn floor around the pool, room service - I waited 1 hour for the pizza, it was hard and without sauce, which I asked for and without cutlery.
We received breakfast twice without toast, even though we had asked for it before.
In my opinion, these are the details that a 5* resort must meet!

I just want to say our welcome to Konokono Beach Resort and Isaraya was one of the Kingly Experience too bad we had to spend just a night evening and morning. The General manager was so professional and very understanding. My wife did not want to leave this place. If you are looking for serenity, quite and privacy. This is definetly the place you wanna be in.

Very big shout out to all the staffs these guys are five star experts and they treat all guests with the same energy and kindness. Most importantly Bernad, Jackson and Agness and the other young lady was the best. Konokono you are fortunate and lucky to have such a great personnel.

I got so much but let just finalise by saying that i am very pleased.

Where do I begin it was so much starting with the pick up from the airport. I wasn't informed the transportation fee beedes to be paid in cag. I would have been prepared with the cash if I were informed ahead of time. Once we arrived which was extremely late due to flight delays our room wasn't available. There was an unfortunate accident so that wasn't their fault but the room wasn't very clean. The floor was filthy and you can tell it was a rushed job. A short time after arrival the power goes out. This apparently is a thing because it happened frequently during our stay. The A/C & refrigerator wasn't working well. I complained for several days they were supposed to send maintenance. We never saw maintenance. We then encountered a rat in our room! This was the straw that broke the camels back. After battling the rat all night they finally moved us to another Overwater bungalow. They never resolved the issue and moved the next guests right in our old bungalow. The bungalows need a good overall sprucing up. I'm a frequent international traveler and the best part of this trip was leaving the resort for 3 days going on our safari in Arusha. The communication between staff was lacking and insufficient. The front desk miscommunicated transportation fees, they never informed housekeeping about the rat and why our room was in such disarray the next day, and maintenance never communicated with housekeeping.The maid drop the key in the ocean. We had a terrible experience. Don't go!

This was the worst experience I have ever had. I am quite use to staying in some rough places and don’t mind that if that is the expectation. I paid premium money for a supposed premium Villa “over the ocean”. It started with the taxi service from the port, the driver was great but, it was not conveyed that it was a private service not from the resort so, when we were dropped off at the resort he expected to be paid on the spot, so make sure you bring cash to pay the driver, it won’t be charged through the hotel. After sorting out the taxi service we were led to our “over the ocean villa” The “ocean view” was at least 200 meters away and nothing like the pictures when booked. I tried logging in on the WiFi that was supposedly available and there was no connection to internet at all, the entire night. I went to take a shower after the long journey to the resort and had abysmal water pressure and zero hot water. When my Wife went to take a shower the water completely shut off in the middle of her shower, the water didn’t come back the entire evening. We tried to make the most of it and have a nice dinner well, the entire time of the dinner we had to listen to cats incessantly whining and going around our feet, my allergies were not liking that whole situation. The wait staff was very kind and courteous but, the food.. it is a set menu with very limited options and the food at best is 2.5/5. The next morning we tried to take a shower and there wasn’t water again. No refund!!

This is the place for a wonderful, restful and lovely honeymoon!! My husband and I stayed in one of the Isaraya Villas, and these are a must. We loved the intimate privacy within the villa: own pool, access to the ocean, sunset views, short walk to the clean beach and restaurant (delicious, fresh meals made to order). We also enjoyed the facilities on the main resort as well. The staff are welcoming and helpful, they added to the serene atmosphere. We would visit again!

The hotel was not ready to accommodate guests. The room was not ready for check-in, there were two people in our room still cleaning. The doors didn't close properly so massive bugs were climbing into the room. The power went off repeatedly in the night, there were no back up generators, and then the water shut off for the entire resort.

The lighting for the stairs leading to the beach was dark so you couldn't see where you were going, they were literally still installing lights in the dining area while we were eating.

The staff are friendly but lost, a beautiful buffet was set for the guests without spoons for service. The waiters promise to serve the food to you and never arrive.

Kono Kono has a team of well intended staff but very far from being ready to call itself a resort and accommodate any guests.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Beach Pavilion at Konokono during Valentine’s Day and it was an unforgettable experience.

We had dinner at the over the water restaurant at Iysara (the conjoined hotel) on our first night and then an amazing buffet on the beach for Valentine’s Day with yellowfin tuna, a fire and and live music - the setting was divine. Both meals were included in our half board booking and they were easily two of the best meals of our whole stay in Zanzibar.

The staff were attentive and cheerful and the beach itself is genuinely stunning. We highly recommend the beach pavilion as the view of sunset from the room is unparalleled.

Thank you to the team at Konokono for a magical stay. We will definitely be coming back for longer in the future.

When we booked this hotel through expedia it was rated as a 5 star luxury hotel. We booked a 5 day, 4 night stay in their beach pavilion room and this was paid in full (Approx $1800). The pictures on expedia looked amazing and we were looking forward to spending our last leg of our trip at this property.

Please see below the list of issues:

- As soon as you walk into the room it smelled mouldy
- The AC was not working so we immediately phoned reception and they moved us to the only other room on the beach, Pavilion 2
- When we first walked in, it was unclean as some just checked out
- The bathroom and bedroom definitely need some updating
- The bathroom sink faucets had no running water
- The private pool was not swimmable as it was not to our standards
- The main pool need some work as there was missing tiles
- There was no beach towels
- The beach had trash and rotting sea weed
- Food was good but limited

We did call expedia to see if we were able to change our hotel however we were told that the refund was not guaranteed therefore we did not have a choice but stay.

However, The helpful and cheerful staff did make our stay somewhat better.

I do believe that this property has great potential however there is some work to be done if this is to be advertised as a 5 star luxury resort. Overall the property and rooms needs some repairs and maintenance to bring it up to 4 - 5 star standard.

I am conflicted about this stay. This being our 6th vacation on Zanzibar, and island we have fallen in love with and her people.

The pro are as follows.
Beautiful Situation
Beach is gorgeous
Staff were friendly and attentive
Food was great
Rooms are clean and well proportioned with clean linen and fresh towels

The cons are.
The hotel needs maintenance, the thatching and beams in the rooms are rotting.
The septic tank near the dining area omitted a pungent aroma quite often
There are no working fridges in the rooms, spoke to the manager who promised to attend to it, but in over a weeks stay nothing materialised.
There is a beach bar about 300m down the beach that plays music for their sunset party that plays until 22h00 at a very disturbing volume (saying that, if you can’t beat them, join them!)
The lunch menu is very overpriced for what it offers, we went to the above mentioned beach bar for lunch on those days we stayed in the area.

As a family of grandparents, parents and child we did enjoy our stay. Would I recommend Konokono, I don’t think so as there are so many options on the island. To grow their clients and encourage return quest the will need to do some serious maintenance.

Staff was good. The beach was amazing. Not a 5 star quality hotel and not as expected. We left early and booked another hotel. The slew of issues like the shower not draining, the porch door not closing fully, the fridge not working, the WIFI not working, the terrible turn down service, the fuse tripping, the private plunge pool was dirty, and the food wasn't great,.. we could deal with. The tipping point was the AC barely worked, we had it on blast with the celling fan on and the room was still uncomfortably hot. In addition the resort next door had music BLASTING, with deep base that could be heard in our room all the way across the water. Sure they turned it down around 8:30pm, but people are visiting from all over the world in different time zones. It was not the relaxing, luxury experience we hoped. They have let the hotel run down. And the manager did not seem to care.

Beautiful hotel aesthetic and rooms very spacious and clean. We stayed in the garden view villa and it was lovely. However food is not good, service is slow it takes forever to get your food and lots of items from menu are always unavailable. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere which is good for privacy and relaxing but do keep that in mind. Hotel taxi is pricey. Lots of animals eg monkeys hang around in the gardens.

Thought it was going to be paradise…

This hotel was at a price point that I thought okay we will get there and be in paradise and not want to leave. Unfortunately the place does look very beautiful but our sink faucets weren’t fixed to the countertops, our toilets only worked sometimes (maybe 50% of the time it flushed), the wait staff at the restaurant ignored us most of the time, it was the first place we stayed during our 3 weeks in Tanzania that didn’t spray for mosquitoes and didn't have bed nets. We got eaten up. Road to hotel was so brutal not every taxi could even get to us to pick us up. Considering price it was a huge let down and far away from everything due to the speed you have to drive on the terrible road. Power and WiFi blinked on and off a dozen times a day.

I had the most beautiful experience. When I arrived, the manager surprised my husband and I with a free upgrade, an over the water Villa! The villa is amazing, the service overall at the resort is A . Very friendly staff, beautiful resort, excellent food and great experience. Hospitality had been the best I had. I love the fact that the staff and manager did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable.

Paradise over the Water

We had an absolutely heavenly stay. We were in one of the 5 over the water villas and it was paradise. The villas are spacious with private veranda with a plunge pool and steps going down to the water. The water is so clear we felt as though we were on an aquarium. There is a beautiful private dining pavilion where we had all our meals. Lovely food and the staff couldn't do enough for us. We would certainly stay here again.

Oh I don’t even know where to start from!! This property was probably wonderful at some point but now is just ruined and nobody seems to care! We first stayed at no 19 where it was full of dirt, bathrooms always smelled of s**t no matter what, they don’t have water most of the times so you cannot flash the toilet which was anyway broken. Staff don’t care too much - they would listen to your concerns and that’s it. Won’t do much as the manager doesn’t care. They won’t clean the villas mini pool if you don’t give them something, the outside patio again is full of dust and monkeys s**t and they never wash it off. Breakfast is minimal, just some doughnuts, one type of cereal with milk, eggs, sausages and beans and that’s it - there are cats which we love but they were all over the tables. And while you go get something else to eat they will go up on your table and eat your food. But the worst was one night when the toilet ceiling started raining and the whole bathroom was full of water and the light was also flashing!! With a toddler and a baby with us we called them at 2am to check what’s going on and they tried to repair the boiler which was on villas rooftop and this made it worse as all kind of insects came from the ceiling and now everything was full of water and insects. They gave us another villa but that night was ruined.
Also, what you see in the pictures is not like that anymore. All the rooms have had the TV’s removed and also all the mini fridge’s doesn’t work etc

he staff were very unaccommodating to our situation, my husband and I picked konokono for our honeymoon, and on the day of travel, we had an incident at the airport actually and couldn't travel. We notified the hotel to cancel and asked for a refund, they told us to talk to Expedia and Expedia kept telling us that the hotel is non responsiveness and are not answering their calls, and after days of hassle between Expedia and Konokono, they simply got back to us to tell us that the hotel did not agree to make any refund for our money, not even a partial refund or deferring our stay to another time which we have proposed. This was a horrendous experience and I would definitely say that I have lost all confidence in Expedia and in Konokono beach resort and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Moreover, they never respond to calls, messages, complaints, not from us (directly) nor from Expedia.

First the location of the hotel is very far and the road was horrible
The food was very limited and there were a lot of bees inside the food in breakfast for dinner it was a la cart menu without any options if you don’t like something you don’t have another option for it
The pool inside the room was dirty the room smells dirty
There’s no tv in the room and wifi is very slow water went out many time
The electricity went out more than 5 times in our last day
There’s no light enough in the hotel we were scared while walking to the restaurant

Beautiful hotel, large and comfortable rooms, large and secluded beach. Staff is very nice and you have friendly and discrete Masai guards keeping the premises at all timeshare dinner service is very good, with a 5 course service but breakfast has low variety and it can take a time to get the drinks and eggs served (on demand, even juices). Bacon is not the standard smoked one you get normally. For common areas you only have the restaurant/bar. And you have harmless monkies all over the place.

Worst stay ever for a “luxury” property. They claim this is a 5* property but nothing more than a 2star guest house. Water issues the whole time we were there, shower stopped running halfway through my shower on two occasions. Most staff had body odour so when they came into your room, it took several minutes for their scent to leave your room. Food was terrible, cold and unpresentable. Everything about this place is terrible. I don’t know if they were ever 5* but they’re terribly run down. We couldn’t wait to leave the place. They ruined the last bit of our holiday in Zanzibar.

Amazing overwater villa at isaraya. The room was huge with 4 poster bed, sofa, outdoor deck and plunge pool. Bathroom amazing with double bath and shower overlooking the ocean. Staff were lovely (special mention to Naomi, James and Paul).
There are some improvements and things to be aware of.
Room amenity replenishment was random and needed prompting. Isaraya restaurant was lovely but very small, we loved it, some may find only 5 tables too quiet. Food was amazing (esp room service lunch, much nicer than the main konokono restaurant). There is (as others mention) a beach bar next door and the loud techno dance music does take away from the tranquility. Esp over Eid it was quite disturbing and could be heard in the room. Swimming from the villa only possible at mid-high tide and be aware of strong currents if you’re not confident swimmer. Could do with some shade (umbrella?) on the terrace. Be aware also that boat trips and fishermen do pass very close so if you’re taking a shower, could do with a window blind to preserve your modesty! Having said all that, this is a unique property in Zanzibar, aspiring to be like the Maldives and almost there. Room and staff more than made up for the negatives.

I threw away a lot of money !

I arrived last week for a 5 day stay however next morning we packed our bags and left. My payment was done in advance and non refundable but that was my own choice because I did not want to have my holiday messed up. For a 5* accomodation and dito price level this place is way out of standard. We had urine smell in the bathroom, dirty private pool with bird faeces and unclear water. Cats on the tables during lunch and dinner (in 5* ??? are you kidding me ...) The matress is used up and we felt and heard the springs all night. Sorry but this place is not well maintained and managed.

Room was great! Massage was lovely. Beach is nice and the free paddle boarding is a plus also.
Service was pretty bad though, there was absolutely ZERO atmosphere and ambience at the hotel, no music at the bar or nothing. And the food was terrible, every meal we had was such a let down.

We stayed in Villa #2 which has 2 bedrooms. The room was beyond spacious (way more space than we needed) and the private pool was a nice treat. The weather was very humid so it was wonderful to walk in to an air conditioned room upon arrival. We enjoyed the food selections and the staff is really friendly and helpful. This is a nice boutique property with only about 20 rooms plus 5 over water villas. We stayed in one of the over water villas which came with the added benefit of a private restaurant that services the over water villas only. This restaurant produced some truly beautiful food. The over water villa itself was pleasant enough (but not comparable to somewhere like the Maldives) although the sea was not that appealing and there was plenty of boat traffic going past the windows. There was a pool which was small, a nice deck and deckchairs. The villa itself was nicely decorated. The main building of the resort served nice food as well and was arranged around a nice pool with a sunset view.

Konokono was a beautiful resort. Very simple and relaxing, we took advantage of the spa for their massages which were amazing, the hotel arranged transportation for us to and from the airport for a fair price and the drivers as well as the rest of staff were patient with us throughout the entire stay when there were delays. The staff were super helpful with any and every question we had. The food was wonderful as was the service. I would definitely recommend and return to this peaceful retreat.

Not a 5 star resort as they advertise....

To call this hotel a five star hotel is a far cry from reality. Upon arriving in our room we were quite disappointed and several issues had to be taking care of. Although my review is somewhat negative, immediate action was taking from the general manager to look into the issues. Dealing with the hotel’s general manager was pleasant and their final approach to make our stay better was to our satisfaction.

When I have arrived to konokono I received a room totally different then on the picture. I have called directly to hotels.com and they told me that they were able to cancel the hotel and give me full refund in negotiations with the hotel. I haven’t heard anything since from hotels.com and I did not received my payment back. I left the hotels the same day and had to book another one.

Horrible food and service, beautiful facility

Beautiful property, however, the attempt at 5 star service was poor and more than anything the food was nearly not edible. Since the hotel comes with half board or full board in the price it was money very poorly spent. The wait staff was annoyed and very under trained. Overall the property and facility were absolutely beautiful, but the hospitality management leave much to be desired. Much of the food was questionable in its safeness to eat, for example chicken that definitely wasn't chicken, and hamburger that was rancid.

A wonderful resort with the most amazing staff. It has everything: sea, sand and beach but also good amenities, amazing service and great atmosphere.

Book a Sea View Villa or a Beach Pavilion - there’s nothing more wonderful than walking on the white cool sand straight from your room! The room/ bathroom/ terrace/ pool were great and as advertised - spacious, clean and even had turndown service in the evening.

A day at Konokono?

- Breakfast - either at the restaurant or on the terrace of our pavilion; wide range of choices and most of all, the best mango and passion fruit I have ever eaten!
- Beach - spotless clean with a beach hut having everything from paddle boards to snorkeling equipment;
- Massage room - the girls will let you leave refreshed or relaxed as preferred;
- Afternoon tea - the hotel serves a complimentary afternoon tea at 5pm;
- Dinner - fresh fish and seafood including lobster and crab beautifully grilled as well as rich African dishes - please remove any thoughts about the dress size you might have had when the holiday started; alternatively, you can opt for dining on the beach – recommend the experience!
- After dinner – the bar has good choice of drinks; there's a pool table but also a TV where you can watch the main international football leagues/ sport events, even a decent sized library.

A special mention goes to the staff and their friendliness/ willingness to go the extra mile to make your stay perfect.
