Staying at the Grand Hotel Stamary feels like stepping into the elegance of old Europe. As the oldest hotel in Zakopane, its history is reflected in beautiful architectural details—carved woodwork, grand staircases, and classic finishes that give the building timeless character. Photos truly do not do this hotel justice.
While a few cosmetic elements show their age, the important details—comfort and atmosphere—are outstanding. The beds are exceptionally comfortable with plush down pillows, high-quality down comforters, and crisp cotton bedding. Bathrooms are spacious and modern with excellent amenities. My room even had a lovely terrace overlooking the street, and despite being close to everything in town, nights were remarkably quiet.
The breakfast buffet was the best I experienced during my two weeks in Poland—abundant, fresh, and beautifully presented. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was equally impressive; the duck was superb, the fish perfectly prepared, and the service excellent.
The staff were gracious and accommodating throughout our stay, from adding a late-arriving companion to our reservation to holding our luggage after checkout. The spa and pool area were spotless and relaxing, providing the perfect retreat after a long day.

This has to be the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. The goose down comforter was divine and the pillows were so supportive. I had the best sleep this night in almost three weeks traveling in Europe. I enjoyed a very nice dinner in house that evening and was able to walk the neighborhood the next morning to see the town. Barbara at check-in was super helpful and very nice, as I booked the hotel last minute coming from nearby Thermal baths.

We loved this hotel. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was so quiet and the sauna was very nice. We loved that this was so close to the bus station and the local bus to go to the mountains or thermal baths. We will definitely stay here again. Amazing hotel!

The building is beautiful, the staff are nice. The food is good. However, the rooms are aged, tattered, and poor condition. Lightbulbs are out in the room and in the halls, the Jacuzzi has mildew. No AC, the rooms are uncomfortably hot in the summertime. The price does not match the quality.

A nice weekend away
I liked the old atmosphere/decoration of the hotel (it is 120 years old). The room was nice with tea/coffee facilities and a fridge. It was great to have swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna at the hotel. They also offer relaxation and skin care massages. It is less than 10 minutes walk to train/bus station and to the city centre where you could find plenty of restaurants to chose from. However, you also have a good menu at the hotel restaurant or by ordering room service.

The amenities beyond surpassed expectations. There is so much included in this stay, multiple saunas, ice bath, large pool, jacuzzi. All included. The beds and linens were very comfortable. We were close to everything and on a very peaceful street. It is a very easy, convenient walk from the bus station. Close to food, snack shop, a beautiful park. Everyone was ice and helpful. So much included for the price. We would absolutely stay here again!

The room is without an AC, we had to leave windows open and the noise of the cars is terrible, the shower is dangerously slippery, to charge your mobile with the USB you need to leave the lampshade on and one of the windows had no blackout, at 5am you had sun in your room. Customer service very rigid. On a positive the Spa is beautiful and the breakfast is excellent .

I already wrote one review, but because I added two more nights to my stay to really relax in the spa (and you should too) I used their 10 percent off gift to try an incredible package with a bath in an amazing color light bubble tub wand then a chocolate massage by Klaudiusz. Once again, it’s the people that make all the difference! He truly went out of his way to meet my needs of a weary traveler and designed the service just for me. I’m so grateful. I can tell he puts his heart and soul into taking care of people. I hope to bring my family back next year around Christmas. 🎄 But ask for the balcony rooms with the views. I had a little view of the mountains and it was priceless for me. Thank you again Klaudiusz. You made my trip here the best! Can’t wait to come back. My husband will love it!

I little Eden in the town. Really enjoyed our week stay here, amazing restaurant with friendly staff. Also great cocktails. The kids loved the swimming pool, which has windows and access to gardens with a cool play area. Lots of hotel features and a pleasant place to stay. The spa is nice, my partner being impressed by her massage. Good location, close to bus and train station and has parking. Food is great here, I think we had everything of the menu. Only issue we had was no aircon so can be noisy in some rooms when windows open during festivals, staff we great and moved us to a bigger and quieter room. Would go back! Thanks staff!

Hotel was fine. You can tell it was once grand, but it’s starting to show age. Bed was pretty uncomfortable, but pillows were worse (you could get different ones but had to pay for them). Front desk staff was unfriendly and rude. Bartenders were amazing. Morning breakfast had lots of variety and options and was decent. Hotel is starting to wear out overall. No AC made it impossible to be in the room during the day. Entry to rooms are disasterous keys. You can hear everything through the walls. It was nice that each room has balconies… but they were shared with other people making it also difficult to cool the room off at night. The area is fine. It’s a bit of a walk to Krupowski street. Not a lot of good options directly by the hotel but the hotel food was awesome. Overall, though, Zakopane as a city was… lacking. It’s a giant carnival and that took away the allure.

Gorgeous hotel!! We were so lucky to have found a hotel as lovely as this. Staff really helpful, lovely spa and gorgeous rooms. Really cosy atmosphere and lovely decor too. It is also in really good walking distance from the main street but out of the way enough of the hustle and bustle. There is also a lovely Italian restaurant down the road. We will be staying here again and have already recommended to friends!

Amazing 4 night stay. The hotel is in an ideal location for those wanting to get to the slopes everyday. We stayed in an attic room as a family of 3, room was huge and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was great so much choice and a chance to try lots of new polish breakfast staples. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was delicious. We utilised the pool and the play area which our 4 year old loved. Only thing lacking was there wasn't enough information provided, I only knew about the kids playroom because I had seen on a website and we didn't find until the day before we left. There is no local information provided in the hotel rooms which would of been great. The staff where really helpful when asked but it would of been great to of had a folder or booklet with things to do, slopes to visit etc.

Lovely hotel in the centre of zakopane, helpful staff, excellent breakfast, small inside pool, we travelled there at the tale end of the coronavirus outbreak and perhaps didn't see it to its best advantages ; no maid service to the room for example which I would expect in a 4 / 5 star hotel.

Fantastic hotel, staff great, very helpful. Breakfast excellent, lots of choice, fresh omelette's made to order. Great location, nice little stroll to the main street, not to far from the slopes. Only issue I had was that the extra bed in the room for my son was extremely small, smaller than a single, wasnt actually a bed in the first place, like a sofa bed but a chair, a small chair. Be wary if you are booking and have a teenager with you in case you actually think you will get a proper bed.

The best thing about this hotel is the spa and pool area. (and the bar tender Andrew and very helpful receptionist Artur) Both my husband and myself used the spa for massages and a facial and highly recommend the service and staff.
The location is convienent to the main shopping area, train and bus connections. The hotel itself could use updating, including new bedding, towels, carpeting, furniture, shower stall, and lighting in the bedroom. I am a big fan of \"historic\" hotels but this one has collected too much dust.
The reception staff was a mixed bag. A few very helpful staff members were unfortunately overshadowed by a woman covering the desk when we checked in. To say unfriendly and unhelpful is an understatement. The only information we could get from her was by sheer determination on our part. Nasty comes to mind. If she has red hair run!
We stayed in 7 different cities on our trip and the 4 star rating does not hold. Many of our hotels were 3 star and were far above the amenities and overall experience at the Stamary. I honestly hate to write a negative review but in this case I would urge potential clients to look elsewhere considering the positive experiences we had at all other hotels we stayed at.

The Grand Hotel Stamary is beautiful itself, but placed in its location makes it incredible. This was our third visit there and I would not hesitate to return. The hotel had very good facilities for children and the family room was great size. But the sofa bed was very uncomfortable & squeaked all night. Although the hotel says it is non smoking, guests can smoke on room balconies, so we found that the smell drifted into the hotel hallways, which wasn’t pleasant for us.

This hotel was a quick one block walk from the train & bus station. Breakfast buffet was outstanding, lots of great options, all tasty. Our group tried many of the spa services and were pretty happy, one out of four people didn't enjoy their massage, which was so oily that it took 5-6 washes and pool swims to look normal. Manicures & pedicures were fantastic, Anna does a great job. The pool facilities are comfortable and the rooms were spacious. There wasn't air conditioning and it was a little warm during our stay, but it was tolerable.

A grand hotel in a good central location
When we got off the bus it was good to see the hotel just a five minute walk away from the bus (and train) station - and very grand it looks too! It is well located for local buses and is out of the main \"drag\" (which is a good thing - it really did feel like \"sanctuary\"!). The hotel is well kept and clean, and there is a certain charm to it. The bed was big and very comfortable, and nice toiletries were provided. Being an older hotel, there is no air conditioning and so, being there in hot weather, we found the room uncomfortably hot and therefore left the door to the little patio open - the only issue was the road noise... The spa area was great - after a long walk each day we relaxed in the pool, jacuzzi and steam room before supper. There was a huge range of food, both hot and cold, available at breakfast, even dessert, which kept us going until late afternoon. We were pleased with our choice of hotel at Zakopane.

Luxury in Zakopane
My wife and I stayed for a week in a room on the 4th floor, comprising a huge bedroom with separate lobby area and bathroom. The kingsize bed was extremely comfortable. Bottles of still & sparkling mineral water were provided daily. The choice available for the breakfast buffet was impressive. We ate dinner in the hotel a couple of time and had a very enjoyable experience on both occasions. My wife has two spa treatments and rated them both very highly. Our stay was everything we expected.
