Nicest Holiday Inn /Express we’ve stayed in yet, Clean, great front desk staff, and well-designed suite. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub after a long drive. Breakfast was varied, plentiful and had healthy options.
Shout out to front desk staff who quickly rectified a communication error. We were grateful for the upgrade. Highly recommend this particular Holiday Inn.

The staff was fantastic and made us feel welcome. The breakfast was wonderful and the entire area was kept clean and well stocked. The average ranking is due to the odor in the room, similar to old cigarette smoke. Apparently, this property used to allow smoking. The smell lingers, even after spraying the room completely with air freshener. The rooms should be thoroughly cleaned and treated as if they were damaged by a fire, and air cleaners need to be installed. Having reactive airways, I am extremely sensitive to the conditions that existed in our room. The tile in the entryway to our room needed to be cleaned as well as the bathroom floor. The refrigerator was not wiped down and had remnants of orange juice in it.

The staff were wonderful. The room was clean and in new like condition. The breakfast was fantastic! Real food! The only complaint was the shower which I told the front desk about. It leaked all over the bathroom and the hot water was minimally hot, which was odd since the hot water at the faucet was very hot! I would definitely stay here again.

We had a great experience. Although the regular check-in time was 3 PM, the staff kindly let us check in around 1:30 PM which was very helpful. The indoor pool and hot tub were a big plus and since not many people were using them, it felt like a private facility just for us. The location is convenient, the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was great. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area. Thank you for the excellent service and hospitality!

Disappointing but with potential

So we didn’t know we would be arriving while they were renovating, which I know is unavoidable sometimes, but that said, check-in was at 3, so when we arrived at 6, our room should have been ready. It was not and the person who checked us in didn’t even seem to realize how late it was! Then when we finally got our new room, the pullout sofa bed we requested wasn’t made, and instead of sending someone up to deliver bedding or come up and make the bed, they made us come down and get a weird duffel bag full of bedding and make the bed ourselves. Seems like for what we paid for a suite (which was barely bigger than a normal room) we should’ve gotten better service. Also the hot tub was full of little kids so we couldn’t enjoy it. Plus the brand-new breakfast kitchen had a pancake machine that didn’t work, and a brand new table being stabilized with a styrofoam cup? Hopefully they’ll finish improving things soon—beds were comfortable, sound-proofing was good, and there’s a very cute little town nearby.

I picked the place because it had an indoor pool and spa. Even had a picture of it on the add (see above). When we got there it was closed for repairs. The desk staff said it was on their website, but I booked it through Expedia. Expedia gave me a $25 credit for future reservations.
My other complaint was, believe it or not, no electrical plug on the desk, only USB ports.
Nevertheless, overall it was a nice place. Nice room. Decent breakfast. Worth the price except for the pool.

We booked this hotel for three reasons: the pool, the hot tub and early check in. The pool and hot tub were under renovation 2 days before we got there and we had to wait til 4pm for a 2pm check in. The hair dryer caught on fire and the breakfast choices were not healthy other than the fruit. We tried to book another place but they were already booked up so we decided to stay rather than drive the 7 hours home. The staff was kind. So there was that but otherwise I would never stay here again. They ran out of water on the second day so we ended up buying water, breakfast and a hair dryer. Not the trip we planned or expected. I have photos but its not letting me add them for some reason.

The stay is one of the best stays I’ve had honestly! Rooms were cleaned. Dove products a plus! Only complaint no ventilation in the bathroom (leaking ceiling from steam) Breakfast was great (pancakes and Cinnabons a plus) Nice indoor pool and hot tub. I love that check out was at 12pm and I was giving a comp hr till 1pm. The gym was nice also! Although treadmill didn’t work. The staff were kind and friendly! I appreciate the free water giving at front desk. Also plenty of free parking. Places beside hotel KFC, Arby’s, Popeyes, and Sheetz gas station.

Issues: walls and doors seem thin. Overall a “loud” hotel as u can hear everything. A/C unit didn’t have continuous fan option to help drown out noise. Staff was friendly, but very loud in the morning as they were beginning to clean rooms and I was still trying to sleep. One person, seemed to be telling others what to do, was very loud. Also, smaller size TV is extremely slow to power on and change channels. And with no channel guide on screen, quite annoying to go through channel by channel to see what is on.

Issues: half the tv channels did not work, staff seemed bothered having to do anything above check me in. The phone in the room didn’t have any sort of cord- for power or a telephone line. Staff just shrugged it off and offered no solutions

Finally, a people friendly hotel!

We chose this hotel specifically because it was not pet friendly. I am allergic to pets and some of the cleaners they use afterwards. In the past when we have stayed at hotels with pets, my husband always winds up with flea bites. This time we had a clean room, quiet, and no problems associated with pets. The breakfast was also excellent.

After driving for 12 hours with w children under age 3, the staff was over the top nice. The room was clean and we might look into where they bought those beds because my back didnt hurt in the morning. I highly recommend.

The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and our room had everything we needed in terms of space. I booked the room based on a review that said the beds were comfortable. That was not the case. Both my husband and I were uncomfortable for a good part of the night and woke up sore. Our kids thought they were fine and they loved the pool and hot tub.

Definitely not a favorite experience. Our refrigerator didn’t work and the staff didn’t even do anything about it. They allowed us to put our stuff their kitchen fridge but threw it out before we got down to get it the next morning. It was only 8am when we went downstairs. They told us they didn’t know and they had to throw it out. A blonde who appeared to be on some kind of upper was scrambling all over the place and said she would check out the fridge. She said it worked. We put our stuff in there and left for the day. When we got back to the room, the fridge was not up to temp again and we had to throw out the things we had put in there. No one had bothered to resolve this in any way. They just throw their hands up in the air and say they don’t know what to do. The air conditioner is ridiculously loud and makes this very high pitched sound so you can’t fall asleep without earbuds or something in your ears. A bed was placed directly in front of the AC so the room didn’t ever get to a comfortable temp. It’s very hot this summer and having to be uncomfortable where you are paying to lay your head down is exactly what we were looking forward to doing. I’m highly disappointed. We will never ever go back to this hotel. I mistakenly booked a room there instead of the other Holiday Inn in Winchester, Va. I’m so disgusted with the way we were dismissed. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional.

It was meh, needs updates

From the start, I had to wait for assistance The bathroom definitely needs updated. Paint peeling off the ceilings, tile was nothing to be desired, toilet seat was scratched up and plastic was peeling on it. The sheets had black spots on them. I had to make sure they werent bugs.The walls in the rooms are paper thin. We heard the neighbors conversation the entire night until 3am. Horrible!! The one nice thing qas the bathroom had a nice nightlight so you didnt have to turn big light on if you had to go to bathroom in the middle of the night.

Breakfasts looked ok, we decided to get Sheets breakfasts since it was right infront of hotel.

I will probably look for something else the next trip.

Front desk staff was great and did what they could do to accommodate us. Unfortunately they overbooked and we ended up in a room with no AC, dirty. We had no other option. Again front desk staff offered us a fan and made the stay salvageable. Upper management has some work to do with this property.

Nice place

Fantastic check in, lady at front desk was very fast and kind to my two daughters. She gave each give piece of fruit at check in and daughters got chocolate chip cookies a little bit later. Nice clean room! In a good location , lots of quick foods within two minutes. Indoor pool and hot tub were a hit with the girls. A small workout room also.
Only two downfalls -fire alarms went off at 4am had to evacuate, it was in sprinkle system was told, and the breakfast was a little cool.

All in all would always stay at holiday inn express places

The location was great and convenient. We were surprised by the dirty room conditions. The pull out sofa bed was covered in washed blood stains and other dirty stains, so it was unusable. There was a pile of hair on the bathroom floor, the tissue box was empty but left on the counter, there were used bandaids laying around the pool area, etc. I witnessed two front desk employees swearing back and forth at each other (at first I thought they were joking, but when one looked at me and said \"I'm not helping you then\" (the vending machine ate $ and one employee was helping me with it) after her confrontation with the other employee, I realized they were serious. The breakfast was good. Overall, the experience was not one I expect from a hotel chain I stay at frequently. I would have tried a different hotel in the area if I knew what I was going to get.
