The hotel is fine, nothing fancy of course as that's not expected. However, our key cards did not consistently work so I had to go down to the front desk twice. Also, the ice machine is on the 1st floor, and I prefer it be on the same floor as our room.

The building, rooms, and grounds are terribly maintained. We had a bucket under the A/C unit to catch condensation in our room. Surfaces and bedding were clean, but vents and corners were piled with dust and dirt. The handle in the shower was loose and ready to fall off. When we realized the body wash pump was empty, I asked the concierge to refill or give us something to wash with. Roberto explained that he couldn’t and it would be refilled the next day. Around the pool was littered with weeds and cigarette butts. The pool itself hadn’t been skimmed. We spent the first 30 minutes cleaning it before getting in. Once in the pool, we noticed a missing drain grate on the bottom of the pool. Large enough for a child’s foot to fit into. This was easily one of the worst experiences my family or I ever had traveling together. It is by far the most overpriced and underwhelming Holiday Inn experience. Many better options in the area we wished we had chosen.

At check in we were told the pool was unavailable, and, according to another guest, it had been down for a few weeks. The room was very clean and comfortable! The A.C. worked well! Breakfast was average with bacon, 2 types of omelets, biscuits and sausage gravy, various muffins,and milk, juices, or coffee. However, the area where breakfast was served had no air conditioning because that unit was broken. At 6:30am the temperature was already low 70's.

I was supposed to pay for the rest of my stay when I arrived, and someone ran my card and checked me in hours before my arrival. When I did arrive I was told that I wasn’t on the arrivals list, then was found to be checked in. The lady at the desk made a key and went to check the room to make sure that they hadn’t accidentally put someone else in it. Came back to the desk, said it was empty and handed me the key. I had to ask her if she wanted to see my ID. She glanced at it and was good. I travel a lot, this was highly unusual. I didn’t sign anything, she didn’t put my ID info in the system. We always book our hotel with Hotels.com and this is the only one that we have showed up for check in and our name mysteriously isn't in the system. Was instructed to cancel our booking through Hotels.com and they would offer us a discount that would have been over $30 more than what we already had locked in through the site. Plus we would have been responsible for the cancellation fee. Go a few exits up to Winchester VA and avoid this location. 5 stars to Hotels.com for assistance with canceling for free. Stay away from this rip off and save yourself a lot of headache.

Had a door for the adjoining room, but wasn’t sure if it locked… put the security tab to closed, but feel like someone had tried to open the door.
