I was pleasantly surprised at how nice our stop was here.
The staff were so helpful and friendly and the rooms so clean and comfortable.
It’s a very nice modern clean Holiday Inn.
We arrived early and were told our room was ready. The 12 check was so handy too and we used the bag drop off confidently.
I will book here again with no hesitation.

On arrival we were early only wanted to drop off our luggage but the staff said she would check if the room is ready which it was and also an an upgrade. The room was clean and the toiletries were of a good quality. I do tend to bring my own but was happy to use the products provided.

The room was clean, warm and comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Several members of staff remembered us from previous stays, which was lovely. I have mobility issues and use a wheelchair, all the staff were very helpful and made everything as easy as possible for me. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with lots of choice.

We booked 2 rooms at the same time due to family size. Contacted the hotel before and while the acknowledged the message they said they can't guarantee rooms together and then we ended up 4 or 5 rooms apart. Hotel room was ok, bathroom was nice.

I stayed at Holiday Inn Bloomsbury recently and overall the hotel was fine, but I had a disappointing experience during breakfast. While waiting to use the toaster, another guest was quite unreasonable, and instead of handling the situation neutrally, the staff only checked on the other person and completely ignored me, even though I was also part of the interaction.

As a paying guest, I felt the response was biased and the staff could have shown better awareness and fairness. It was not a major incident, but it did affect my experience. I hope the hotel will improve staff training in handling guest interactions more professionally.

Unfortunately the hotel has lots of construction going on and we got put on floor with active construction in older rooms. We’d have to walk by handling light fixtures and found a razor blade on floor one evening. Staff was great. Breakfast is great. I’m sure once remodeling is all complete it will be a 4 or 5 star experience.

Do not stay here, especially if you are a solo female traveler. The pictures posted are not accurate unless they are using a special lens, and it's important to note that the hallways are not pictured. Due to my flight, I checked in late at night on 22 August. The man at the front desk was nice. The lobby was okay. As soon as I stepped onto the floor of my room, I felt scared and uneasy. It's old, not cared for, and it feels as though someone is about to pop out and attack you at any moment. Women know this feeling. The room was less than okay. There were stains on the carpet, and I even felt unsafe in the room. I FaceTimed my fiancé back home. He did not find it acceptable. He called the front desk and merged me onto the call. He asked if I could check out early the next day and get a refund. Front desk put us on hold as he asked his manager. His manager agreed to the refund. I checked out the next day. Then I got an email from Expedia that said the hotel denied the refund. I have been calling and emailing the hotel ever since. When I call, they say who I need to speak to is not available. They tell me to email. I do. No one responds to the emails. Expedia has been horrible, too. They keep saying the hotel either isn't answering them or won't give the refund. So either the hotel isn't responding to Expedia either, or they are going back on their word to refund my 2nd and 3rd nights. Expedia has been a mess, too.

I highly recommend this hotel, especially for fellow Americans who are used to bigger rooms and bigger beds. This hotel seemed fairly new, clean and everything was perfect. The prices could not be beat and they are within walking distance of 3 major train stations and the tube.

Room was okay, and staff were courteous. But room was very noisy from streets. Propery management does not take any actions for those louitering in front of the hotel late night. Room had a signage to close an air vent on the window - which was placed too high to reach without ladder.

Wonderful stay and the staff was very accommodating when requesting a new room due to the sofa bed being unacceptable due to the springs being felt and with no support. I think the hotel needs to replace the bad ones ASAP as it is unacceptable for a 3rd person to have to sleep on very thin, unsupported spring mattress. Especially since we book for a weeks stay. But like I said, the staff was very accommodating meeting our request to switch rooms. Breakfast was good.

This hotel was by far the worst Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in. They were doing construction on the floor above mine and I had no control over the heat The heat was so intense I found it difficult to sleep. Also the water was shut off the second day I was there because of the work. It was horribly overpriced and I was so glad to check out.

Offered a complimentary upgraded room for us on arrival. Room spotless, large comfortable bed, fridge, lovely toiletries in bathroom, tea, coffee, still & sparkling water and milk provided. We were on the top floor, very quiet at night so had a good nights sleep. Breakfast excellent in a very large room, good range of hot and cold options. Easy and fast check out. Underground parking under the hotel was £27 expensive but we have seen other hotels in London with extortionate prices so we were happy to pay. Only criticism was some areas of the car park were quite old and tatty but there were lots of spaces to park.

I was so disappointed. I've stayed at quite a few Holiday Inns in the past and was always happy with my stay. However, I found the lobby stuffy and unenviting. We ordered ice cream for dessert and for the ridiculously high price, the quality of the ice cream was poor. I was surprised that this location did not offer \"free breakfast\". I will not recommend this location.

Breakfast was not up to par with comparable hotels in the area. Menu options at the restaurant for dinner were limited. Construction on a nearby room made our stay really noisy. We had been traveling a lot by train and needed adequate rest time when in our room and the construction/remodeling noise prevented this. Front desk staff never answered the phone when we called from the room. WiFi was probably the only good thing about the place.

The cleaner entered our room at 8:45am when we had an agreed checkout at 1pm due to a late arrival of 11:30 pm the night before.

This was a confirmed error but when i went yo see who was at the door nobody was available to reassure me that it was a staff member. We had a late night and due to tge uncertainty, my daughter and myself was unable to return to sleep. The noise of cleaning and door slamming was far too loud for 9am, especially on a weekend and standard 12pm checkouts.
The receptionist was able to confirm the error with the clearner who entered the room but asked me to suggest a way to make my stay better .. at the time i was checking out !

The reality, we booked this hotel to sleep at, which we was unble to achieve in its entirety.

So what was the point ultimately

Disappointing Stay at Holiday Inn – Russell Square

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn – Russell Square, and unfortunately, this was one of my worst hotel experiences in years.

The positives: good location next to Russell Square Station, good breakfast, and excellent housekeeping staff. Sadly, that’s where the positives end.

The hotel is old, dated, and extremely basic—nothing about it feels 4-star. Several elevators were out of service, and the rooms are tiny and bare-bones. The front desk staff lack basic customer service skills, and management is dismissive and unhelpful.

I booked what I believed was a twin room (the photos showed two beds), but on arrival was told only doubles were available. The receptionist promised to move us the next day, but after repeated follow-ups, we remained in the same small double room for four nights. My 16-year-old son had to sleep on the floor on a towel.

The room was hot and stuffy—the air conditioning kept shutting off—and there was no mini fridge, which is unheard of for a supposed 4-star hotel.

I checked out early after the hotel refused to acknowledge or address any of this. Despite Expedia confirming a partial refund, the hotel denied it. Eventually, Expedia refunded me directly. To add insult to injury, after my final complaint, the hotel suddenly “found” a twin room that supposedly didn’t exist earlier.

I won’t return.

The rooms were ok, two elevators were down at the same time for a few days which was a bit inconvenient. There should be different options for breakfast packages if you don’t offer free breakfast. We don’t all eat large portions so if there were cheaper packages for smaller options of food that would be better. Most staff were friendly enough.

We paid for parking for the hotel and it was included out room price but after when checked out the hotel charged us extra fees because their stuff forgot to sorted out our parking and they werent helpful to sorted out our parking and their stuff talked to us very arrogant as well and they told us to leave and they don’t care we have to pay twice the parking with them. I do not recommend to stay there because the stuff not helpful at all.

I could not totally enjoy my stay as my room was stuffy and warm. Airtight! Close! No window to open and I felt an extreme lack of AIR! Had to ask for a fan which did not help the situation! No exhaust fan in bathroom either. The room is airtight! Uncomfortable! Renovations going on! I must say the STAFF is excellent! Ida my favourite in breakfast area. Superb! Wonderful staff! Great location, but very unfortunate experience with facility. The tub didn't drain for two nights. After a long day out and about, it was not pleasant to have to have someone up to our room to unclog the drain quite noisily. On the third day, someone came by our room early to work on the drainage issue. After that, it drained very, very slowly. The next day, we were informed upon arrival that the hot water was out. Finally, it required a lot of upper arm strength to turn off the water--but we persevered because it was too much to call with another issue. I hope renovations fix these issues.

Had to move from our exec room on the first night due to water leak from room above. Moved into 2 std rooms on 5th floor. Had to again argue that 4 people booked meant 4 breakfasts. I'm not going to let my kids starve. Had this on both mornings. No notice about the building work so lifts out of order and dust everywhere. Staff were courteous on the main.

We enjoyed our stay of 4 days. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a nice location, walkable to main London attractions and with great access to both the Underground and St. Pancras station. The area has many colleges and feels young and safe. Lots of dining options. Our room was fine for 3 people with sufficient electrical outlets but lacked a refrigerator which was disappointing. The bathroom was exceptionally small, almost like a cruise ship bathroom, but everything functioned and we made due.

I enjoyed staying at this hotel, great breakfast and lgood location, but not after wasting my time and sleep asking to change rooms because the inner outdoor space is full of noisy air conditioning units. Especially if the bed is near the window, it's noisy enough to stop me getting back to sleep. Even the outer rooms facing the road have nearby aircon units, but at least a bit quieter. There was no noise from the aircon inside the rooms. I don't know what you can do except to replace the machines with quieter ones or improve the window sound insulation.
