The night we checked in, I called Wyndam to complain about the facilities and everyone else. The staff was uninterested and took several hours to get answers or resolutions - which were often not resolved. There were only two plugs in the room, one of which was plugged into an extension cord. There were no USB plugs whatsoever. The carpet both in the room and the hallways appeared to be dirty and very worn. The majority of the hotel was shut down - three restaurants, etc., the salon, whatever.

The hotel is a sort of Gormenghast. Vast in size, with dingy time worn corridors, stairwells and huge empty function rooms and cupboards stacked with chairs. stretching out in all directions from a much better maintained and appointed central area.
Only one lift working to 11 floors at the very back of the hotel. To get there a long walk down a very empty and lonely corridor sided by storage rooms and dark empty spaces.
I asked for a quiet room in advance and again on arrival, so was given a room in 'The Tower' overlooking the busiest and noisiest road, next to the ice machine and the lift. Given the hotel was mostly empty that seemed almost casually unkind. The second night l asked to change due to being able to hear every hoot and shout from the adjoining room, via a connecting door. A different member of staff was very understanding and helped me out. The second room faced the amtrak station, no connecting door, quiet street, (couldn't l have been given this the first night?)
Both rooms were clean and well maintained with useful power sockets and decent bathrooms. Not all rooms have open windows, but ac works.
Good breakfast, with friendly breakfast guy.
You need a car to stay here and get out for food (no restaurant on site, except breakfast and this is not a vibrant area).
Parking on site.
The hotel seems to have mostly workers and individual travellers during the week, but may fill up with sports fans, event teams and associations at weekends. Different again perhaps

The staff was great but that’s the best thing I can say. The hotel looked pretty run down & in disrepair. We chose to stay in the tower bc they said the rooms were recently renovated. But the carpet was dingy & the toilet was loose. Then we tried to go to the hot tub & it was cold. This morning we went to breakfast and it was just ok. Overall just a very average experience.

Breakfast was good, check in was fairly quick. We have stayed at this property before and the rooms in the main hotel were okay. This time, we had a room in the north tower. The elevators were down so the only elevator available was a small service elevator that only had access through a long, dark ( no lights on) hallway. When we got to our room, only one lamp worked and the other flickered and only worked sporadically for about 10 seconds. The remote for the tv would only work when it was pointed at just the right angle. The bathroom ceiling was peeling and the bathtub drain was rusted. The bed mattresses were well worn and I kept rolling to the middle of the bed. The room had new wallpaper and the carpet was clean.

You can tell it is an older hotel, but it was clean. The bed was very comfy. The shower had good pressure, which was a plus! The AC was not on when we checked in, and it was very stuffy in the room for a while. That is the only thing that wasn't great. Parking was super easy, and there was plenty of light in the parking lot, which was very nice since we got there in the evening. The clerks (both night and morning) were very helpful. The breakfast was good, the eggs were fluffy, and the biscuit was still warm.

This hotel needs a complete overhaul. I should’ve looked at the Google reviews and not just Expedia reviews. I would have noticed that there have been elevators that are not functional for over four months now. That’s ridiculous! All guess staying in the tower portion of this property must take a small service elevator that takes forever because everyone is using it as it is the only means of getting to the rooms other than taking the stairs. The odor that smacks you in the face every time I exit the service elevator onto the fourth floor, where I stayed, is absolutely horrendous! I did not feel comfortable walking barefoot in my hotel room. I created a path made up of towels and sheets that I could walk on because the carpet just felt grimy and the room was musty and stinky. And probably the most frustrating part is that my hotel key kept getting unprogrammed so I had to walk the equivalent of three city blocks each and every time this occurred. I was told the same thing each time by the person at the desk. “ oh, so if your cell phone or credit card comes in contact with your room key, it can de-magnetized it” I accepted that the first time I heard it. I intentionally kept my room key in a pocket far away from anything that might affect its programming, but yet again, I was locked out of my room and had to walk all the way down to the front desk to get my keys reprogrammed. This place is just a hot mess. Never Again!

Standard Wyndham breakfast: eggs, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, fruit. Pleasant surroundings. Property was atrium-style hotel with large community area for breakfast with fountain. Liked that our room had an outside deck. Shared with two or three other rooms, but very spacious. Weather was spring/transitional, so thunderstorm and it was nice to stand on deck and watch the system move through.

The staff was friendly and the breakfast was pretty good. The building itself looks worn but clean. I did get a full size bed that they told us was a queen. The room looked like it was missing a bed too. It was very cramped for two full size people to sleep on. The toilet didn't always flush and the ac was really loud. Overall it was an ok budget stay with the exception of the bed issue. That sucked.

Super loud hotel. When I checked in I asked specifically for a quiet room. We got put next to a party room. We could hear everything through the walls. There's no sound protection anywhere. You could hear and feel the whole room rattle anytime somebody shut a door in the hallway. The bed was clean and comfortable. But everything else is just dingy and run down and kind of gross honestly. It was cheap though so I guess you get what you pay for. And the breakfast was decent.

Only negative thing I found wrong was the elevator and location. It was slow and small. The stairway needs painted and more lighting added so its not so creepy. The hotel staff and breakfast was really the highlight of the stay. They went above and beyond to help us have a great stay in Topeka. We really enjoyed the breakfast bar. The server was so nice and honestly a joy to talk to.

First off there was an adult cockroach in my room. The mattress was clearly old as it had way too much give and i could hear the springs when i sat on it. There was a little piece of toilet paper on the floor of the bathroom and long strands of hair on the back of the hair dryer. The worst part was that the whole stay, the room was in between 78 and 75 degrees. I thought that it was because on saturday it was almost 100 degrees so I didnt say anything. The day I checked out it was 60 degress outside and my room was still 75 degrees. Obviously something was wrong. When I checked out at the front desk they had a fan to cool them so I thought maybe the AC in the building was getting old or something. The past 3 times I have stayed here it was regular price. This time I went on hotels.com and got a deal. I assumed it was the same quality of room as before just at a discount as the original price it said was about what i usually pay. I feel like this was a bait and switch. The breakfast staff was wonderful as usual. Overall, a disappointing stay except for breakfast being the highlight.

When I got there, no greeting the desk.
Checked in, elevators broken and the one we could take was sketch.
Get to our room, and the housekeeping has sheets in the hallways for most of the night.
Pool was freezing. Hot tub was cold as ice. We asked for pool help, but didn’t get any. The hotel overall was dirty, unkept, and staff was not very nice. The gaming area took the kids money. I do not recommend staying here.

This hotel is fine if you are just traveling through.
The rooms are far away from the lobby. The main elevators are broken, therefore the elevator is a tiny service elevator. They did not have a luggage cart. They got me a kitchen cart, which worked even better. The staff is nice and the room is clean. We have stayed there 2 times. We are going back to Topeka and have chosen a different hotel this time.

The pool and hot tub closed at 9pm! Have never stayed anywhere where it closed that early. They made us leave the hot tub. Breakfast was luke warm at 7:15 am. We were on the 5th floor across from the room that the guy set the microwave on fire at 5:20 am. Everything smelled like smoke and no offer of a discount.

Also, the room heater ran too hot and we had to call the front desk for them to send someone up to get the TV to work. Also did not provide a receipt upon check out. The internet did not work properly.
There are supposed to be 2 guest elevators and 1 service elevator. When we arrived only the service elevator was working. On the 4th day, that elevator qut working for two days. We were on the 7th floor so had to use the stairs for two days. They never informed us when the elevator was down and never informed us when it was working again. Even when it was down, they had signs pointing to use it.
The rooms were not filthy, but not real clean.

The lobby is nice, but the rooms are horrible. All of the elevators are broken- we took the stairs to our 6th floor room multiple times. One of the beds was broken/on verge of collapse. The room was so hot (thermostat did nothing) that we slept with the window open. In JANUARY. Anyone considering staying here should read the abundance of negative google reviews, which I should have done. Not worth it for a nice lobby.

For a quick overnight, the hotel wasn’t bad. You definitely get what you pay for. The staff were great. The breakfast was hot with waffles, eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy. The breakfast attendant was amazing. The hotel is old and sad. All of the elevators were down, resulting in having to go up and down 5 stories of stairs. The hallway smelled of cigarette smoke. The room was warm and I don’t know if it really cooled down with the thermostat. The shower had mold and there was evidence of water and mold damage in the ceiling. The hotel in general needs a massive deep clean and some love.

We arrived when a snow storm was ending. To put it into perspective, we were hauling a 30 foot camper and all our chains and gear were frozen. We couldn't disconnect to go pick up supplies or supper. The snow wasn't removed from sidewalks or the parking lot at all during our stay. The 1st room we were assigned had cockroaches in it. The clerk wanted to give us a room next door to it instead. I declined any room from that floor. The 2nd room was 98 F with no temperature control. We asked for a different room. The 3rd room we found bugs in the morning. While at Ramada, not a single restaurant would deliver to the hotel. We tried Door Dash, but not even they would deliver to the hotel. We had our crackers and cheese from our road trip for our supper. When we were leaving in the morning, the parking lot was still covered in ice and snow exactly as it was when we arrived, only now it was much harder to maneuver out of the parking lot. We will never stay at Ramada again.

We visited the Topeka Ramada in November. We were pleased to find it conveniently located to downtown and a variety of restaurants. No smoking is allowed in the building and our room was perfectly clean; it didn't even smell like cleaning solution! Some might consider the decor outdated but we found it to be charming. The bed was comfortably firm and there was a good bit of floor space, evn with a full size refrigerator!

The atrium was a lovely place to have breakfast and there were a variety of tasty hot and cold selections. As seniors, we appreciated the elevators! The staff were friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was that the heat was centrally controlled and our room got rather warm. We opened a window for a bit and then we were fine. If business ever takes me to Topeka again, I would stay here in a heartbeat.

The staff were great, breakfast tasty, and bed cozy. But everything else screamed “not touched since 1992”. The rooms smelled musty and dank, the elevator felt like a SAW movie, the carpet had things stuck to it, there were stickers and skittles on the ground, and the hallways smelled of cigarettes. I wanted to much to like this place but my sore throat and horrible cough from the mold/dust/smells the next morning made me decide I can’t chance this hotel again.

Room was in need of updates. Among the issues, there was duct tape on the windows (not sure why), the beds were very squeaky, and there was rust in the bathtub. We were nervous every time we used the elevators, as they were old and little light that shows you what floor you are on didn't work. (One of the three elevators was actually out of service for \"modifications.\") The walls are very thin and our neighbors were awake most of the night laughing, which kept us awake. The only positive I can say is the breakfast. While it was nothing special, the staff working it were very polite and friendly.

The hotel is large and dated, but has a great pool and some activities for kids. There are not many dining options close to the hotel. Our tub tiles were rather dirty, and one of the beds sloped a bit. The towels and pillows were nice though. For the price, we would stay there again.
