I spent three nights in this hotel, which was first built in the 14th century (I was told). I appreciate the room upgrade they offered. The upgraded room (a suite) is located on the 1st floor. It is a huge, very clean room with a flight of stairs inside. Both the dressing room and the bathroom/toilet can only be reached via the stairs.
The problems are that the stairs were based on the original structure built in the 14th century, meaning the height of each step is not even. And, my wife has bad knees, and she struggled mightily going up and down each time she needed to use the loo. Sadly, they were fully booked, and we couldn't switch back to a regular room.
I appreciate the staff for upgrading us to this suite. However, be mindful of it if you, too, have knee or mobility issues.
The only other issue I have is the lack of power sockets in the room. I searched high and low. There was only a single socket in the entire room. So please bring an extension cord or something.
Otherwise, the interior of the entire hotel is great, clean and grand-looking.

The riad is beautiful and features a lot of antique items. What really stands out it the attention of the staff, Sama in particular, who made us feel at home during out stay. Fully recommend staying there when visiting Fes.

The room we got was 2-level. It was spacious, beautiful and had Antique/elegant look. The beds were comfortable.
The meals served were marvellous. Morning breakfast was not to be missed: fresh juices, fruits, pancakes, jams, yogurts, omelettes, cakes, etc. if we had to go early, they packed takeout snacks. Again, they tried to anticipate our needs and help meet it.
Dinner was A La Carte or meal menu. Good choic s. Home cooked by the owner’s mom. The food was marvellous. Everyone in our group enjoyed what they ordered.

Such a lovely place, literally felt like you're staying at a Museum. The location is great, the staff was so kind and accommodating, and the views from the rooftop were amazing. I honestly loved my stay here, and would definitely come back to Fes just to stay at this Riad. The place itself felt like you've taken a step back in time. Its clean, newly renovated, and beautiful.

The Riad is stunning. It is beautifully decorated, and the rooms are very spacious with impressively high ceilings that make the whole place feel open and airy. The staff were extremely helpful—when I mentioned a smell in the room, they immediately brought a candle and essential oil for me. The rooftop restaurant also has a wonderful view and is a great place to relax.If there’s one thing for improvement, it would be allowing guests to enter the front door without having to buzz every time.

Stunning Riad super convenient location and the staff make every effort to help the guests. The dinner was an absolute surprise in the best way possible, and it's a must do.on the stunning rooftop with amazing views of the surrounding areas. They also included a 1 hour tour with a very knowledgeable guide who took us around the medina (it's a crazy maze) and showered us a great spot for lunch. Highly recommend and I hope to come back to this place in the future.

We had an amazing stay at the Riad. It was a beautiful place that had been carefully restored and maintained. The caretakers take extra care to maintain it’s beauty. The manager Salma made sure that we stayed comfortable throughout the stay. The food was amazing as well. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

From the outside the hotel looks absolutely beautiful. My partner and I arrived so excited to start our trip in Fes. The woman working the reception was sweet but right after she helped us she spent the day yelling at staff.
The breakfast and dinner everyday was absolutely terrible. Bread was stale. Orange juice was from the box and advertised as fresh. Mint tea was from a Lipton tea bag.
Our first night there we thought it would be nice to have a traditional Hammam experience. This turned out to be an absolutely disgusting and torturous experience. The Riad says that only natural products would be used. But there were only store bought shampoos and soaps. The staff was severely under trained and the pillows they gave for us to lay on in the hammam had mold on them. The entire place smelled like body odor.
The next day we asked to have a guide show us around the Medina. The receptionist woman told us that he would be from the ministry of Tourism. He took us to a rug shop where we were pressured for 2 hours to buy rugs which we later found out is a known scam here in Fez. We were then brought to a pharmacy with similar deceptive practices. After reviewing our statement we were charged $2,000 for about $100 dollars worth of skincare.
He seemed to bring us to all of the local scam artists and seemed to be working with the Riad from the looks of their interactions before and after the tour.

The help we received from our host Sama was outstanding. She worked hard to meet all of our requests and needs. She did an excellent job! Hamid - our daily waiter/bellman - was always on top of things and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for more. Sama set up a day guide - Abdul - that was masterful and informative. Sama also set up a driver - Ibrahim - that was outstanding and kept us safe on a 7 hour day trip drive.

The staff of Riad Fes Maya pressured us into a so-called “complimentary private tour” that turned out to be a shopping scam. We later confirmed that personal details we had shared with the hotel were passed on to the “guide,” which was deeply unsettling. On one occasion, we also returned to find our room door left unlocked. These serious breaches of trust left us feeling unsafe throughout our stay.
The riad itself is beautiful, and the food was good. But until they stop partnering with dishonest guides and prioritize guest security, I cannot recommend staying here.

Great Riad! The riad was beautiful! We had one night there. The customer service was beyond exceptional! We had to leave early in the morning to catch a tour and the staff provided us with a terrific bagged breakfast with traditional Moroccan food to take with us as breakfast at the riad didn’t start until later. They also provided us with a wonderful coffee presentation to enjoy on the rooftop patio before we left for our tour that morning. Great view of Fes from the rooftop. We had dinner at the riad on the rooftop restaurant as well the night we arrived. The food was fabulous! It was the best food we had while in Morocco! Very flavourful Moroccan food. The room was clean and gave a truly Moroccan vibe. I would recommend this riad!

The hotel is beautiful and the princess suite that I booked was beautiful. It took a long time to check in and they tried to put my friend and I (separate reservations) in the same room. They fixed it but it took more time so we didn't get the break we wanted before we started our Medina tour. The spa was wonderful.

The whole riad was absolutely stunning, including the room. From the moment we arrived and entered, the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, and we felt we had entered a palace. I loved the rooftop terrace for breakfast and dinner. The food was the best we had in Morocco so I definitely recommend eating at the riad. The location was convenient, easy walking distance to the medina and sites but located just outside so it was quiet and easily accessible by taxi. Thank you for making our stay so special!

I got the chicken tagine, and it was delicious, would highly recommend it.

You get a pleasant surprise when you first enter the riad from the narrow street and corridor. It opens up into a beautiful foyer area. Our room was also a lovely historic room with an impressive painted ceiling. The room had everything we needed and we slept very well.

A beautiful, historic hotel that is extremely clean, we loved the decor which was grand and palatial. The Hotel staff; Khadija, Hamid and Ayman (think that was their names) were so friendly, welcoming and made our stay memorable- thank you! The hotel is close to the Medina and numerous places to eat. Overall the perfect place to stay in Fes.

This is undoubtedly a gorgeous property. The attention to detail of the facility was superb. The staff are extremely nice and accommodating. We stayed in the Royal suite which was spacious however amenities such as comfortable beds/pillows and bathroom touches were not so great. The mattress was board hard and pillows hard and lumpy. The bath/shower was not conducive to showering so the entire bathroom invariable got soaked when used. Towels were crunchy - they probably air dried them which environmentally we approve of but makes for uncomfortable toweling. All in all we do recommend this property but maybe only for a night or two. We did not make us of the spa treatments.

The only negative for some visitors may be the location, which is a 20 minute walk through the medina from the area on the west side of the medina where most of the restaurants and shopping are located. This riad is located in a mostly residential area with few restaurants and no shopping.

Overall stay was ok, property is nice. Location is nice in the middle of Medina so walkable distance to everything. Six of us used Hamman , really would not recommend this part at all ! You spend $85 service person worth $10 no more ! Use any local hamman instead . First of all 3 person gets only 2 person to wash you, so you dont even get one on one experience! Second staff is not professional, and not really sure what they are doing ! Girls kept on chatting, laughing and kept on leaving room . From 60 minutes you only got 10 minutes maximum per person. Third promised black sea salt mask, creams are not existing! They even used Dove shampoo to wash you :))) So for conclusion stay at Riad is nice, services offered needs really to be worked on ! 3 families of 12 ppl , December 2023

Our stay at the Riad Fes Maya was amazing. It is an old building that has been upgraded with modern conveniences without destroying the cultural ambiance of the original structure. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Wara the manager who was on duty during our stay. We arrived later in the evening, and she was there to greet us. She took the time to explain everything about the hotel and even some information related to the Moroccan culture which was fantastic since that is one of the main reasons we traveled to Morocco. Truly a lovely hotel and experience.

Very spacious room and very authentic Moroccan style. Good air-conditioning in room. Hot water and strong pressure in bathroom. This is important especially after a day walk in the souks. Staff are all very nice and helpful. We need to check out early morning, they are kind to prepare packed breakfast for us and help us to get a taxi. Strongly recommend this Riad to my friends.

It is Absolutely spotless, and the staff are amazing. My partner hurt his knee while traveling to the hotel and Hamid and the other staff couldn't have done enough to help. Probably one of the most incredible Riad interiors in Fez. Service speed and efficiency needs work, but the staff means well and strives to please. Towels are ready to be replaced, as is the shower head in our suite. Porters are on-point and extremely helpful.
