Hidden gem

We found this place bt accident and were only going to stay one night. The town the people and especially the this hotel and staff were amazing. We ended up staying five days. Thank you so much for all the wonderful memories.

Great place to stay. Very convenient for beach and many restaurants and bars. Staff super friendly. hotel spotlessly clean. Nice pool area and plenty of sun beds. If I was being picky the only criticism I would have is that we got a voucher for a welcome drink. In all the other hotels on this trip we were offered a glass of caca so expectations were high! Turns out it is just orange juice with grenadine so manage your expectations! Overall thiugh a really terrific place to stay and would highly recommend it!

This hotel, is excellent, it is ideally located, close to a beautiful, beach, and many great restaurants. It is a great hotel, to travel, to Tarragona, or Sitges.
The staff, are really friendly, the rooms are excellent, and the pool, is excellent. There, is a choice of 3 restaurants in the hotel.
The buffet, breakfast, was really good also.

A lovely, friendly hotel. Superb location, 5 min walk to the beach and on the main square - but you weren’t aware of the noise at all.
The breakfast buffet had good options for gluten free diets as well as anything you could possibly fancy! My boys thought it was one of the highlights of the day.
The pool was family friendly - a little too many young children for us but it was so close the the beach that it wasn’t an issue. (And there was an adult only pool in the roof if you had certain rooms - unfortunately our tweenagers didn’t quite fit into either camp)
There were also activities and entertainments if you wanted to join in but it was subtle enough that they weren’t in your face.
We’d definitely go back and stay there. It was a lovely town with a good atmosphere. Very few English families and you should make a little effort to speak Catalan or Spanish.
The beach is beautiful, sandy and clean. The sea is warm but very wavy when we were there, my boys loved it!
At the other end of the beach here’s a Roman villa that is open to look around and has lots of information. Up the hill is the ‘old town’ that is definitly worth an explore as well - if the heat allows!
It was also really easy to get the train there from Barcelona airport. (Change at Barcelona-Sants then it’s just over an hour) and it was less than a 5 min walk to the station so we were able to discover lots of the local area. Tarragona is fantastic for Roman ruins!
We clearly enjoyed it!

Lovely hotel but failed to meet our expectations of a 4 star. 1 night might be ok but 4 was too many here.

Pros
- lovely coastal village with history
- large pool with sun-beds & lots of other outside seating
- large selection at breakfast & usually restocked
- pay to use rooftop over 18s pool with free water
- token for free juice at bar on arrival
- family friendly
- front desk staff helpful for organising taxis/trains etc

Cons
- No pool towels available any of the 4 days we asked
- No early check in
- No shampoo or conditioner or any extra amenities in room so along with decor it felt very basic like a 3 star hotel
- No coffee maker or kettle in room
- Asked for an iron & was given a broken one
- A lot of guests & very noisy! Rooms not sound proofed, with room doors banging at night & kids running & screaming around the pool & at breakfast.
- Don’t go to breakfast too late as no tables available inside by 9.45/10.
- Despite no other apparent covid restrictions booking required for gym & no gym slots were available our whole stay!
- Daily charge of €9 pp for premium level rooftop pool seems steep. We paid one day to use it & found a guy smoking & later a family brought in a young child - both not supposed to be allowed. Didn’t seem to be monitored & no toilets up there.
- Parking extra also.

Altafulla Mar - fabulous hotel

The check in was very smooth, hotel rooms clean and large bed. Pool was fabulous, easy to get a sun bed and swim at any time of the day. Bar staff attentive. Breakfast had loads of choice and suited all our needs. Def recommend this hotel.

It had all the basic needs we needed, big room, crib for the baby, clean, swimming pool and dinning opportunity in the hotel. The staff is friendly, however slow to respond to phone or WhatsApp.
The parking is a minus, it's very hard to drive in and out as it's one entrance only and doesn't feel safe, you have to go through a different entrance first to reach the elevator.
Still we see it as a minor thing in the overall stay there.

Had a lovely stay, only for one night while we waited for our beach side apartment. Staff were great, they could not do enough for us. We were upgraded to a better room which was lovely. We would highly recommend, and will definitely be going back.

Brilliant hotel x

This was a fantastic holiday. The hotel was clean and staff were absolutely brilliant. The only downsides was the room was small for a family of four once you put the beds in the room. I would say there was not enough storage for clothes. The hotel also say they do babysitting/childminding service. This is the kids club which operate during the day in two time slots. I asked whether they do babysitting service in the evening however this service they do not provide.
Apart from this, this hotel is highly recommended and I am coming back with my family. I was extremely impressed with the level of service.

Beautiful hotel, sleek, modern furnishings with excellent facilities and professional, efficient staff. We particularly loved the outside area, very comfortable outdoor furniture great for lounging with friends around the very nicely kept and pretty gardens adjoining a lovely pool. Excellent choice at breakfast (although did find some of the ‘hot’ breakfast items were lukewarm and the English breakfast tea was an acquired taste), would have liked the provision of beverage making facilities in the bedroom, which were very well presented with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. One of the nicer hotels we have recently stayed in and so close to a beautiful and quiet promenade/beach and picturesque old town void of commercialisation.

Fantastic Hotel! Great staff.

Fantastic stay. The hotel is clean and modern. Breakfast was delicious, a huge range of choice and was very fresh. The staff could not have been more helpful, they even helped us with train times and things going on in the area. The hotel is near the beach, just a couple of minutes walk. There isn't a tonne of things in the local area, but for a quiet spot it was perfect. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Great hotel with top facilities close to a long and clean beach. It has a wonderful pool and great restaurants where you can enjoy free performances every night. Staff is amazing, especially Edward, Anne, Nuria and Paula. Edward was a manager that was everywhere from breakfast time to late night performances. He was there greeting all guests in different languages and trying to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Most guests wondered how he could keep going all day doing that. Hotel is also close to Altafulla historical sites, as well as to Tarragona and a short drive to Barcelona. This hotel offers great hospitality to everyone, including singles, couples, families and retirees. A Free and safe public parking is just across the street.

The staff are very nice, and speak good English. The rooms are big and very clean. It is in a good location, just outside of Tarragona. There is a train station within short walking distance from the hotel. Breakfast is of good variety and fresh.

A very well appointed hotel and although the stay was only for one night it was most enjoyable. Excellent restaurant and bar. A very nice comfortable room although there were problems with the air con and television. When pointed out the hotel responded immediately.

Nice short stay

The underground parking kept our car cool and safe. The staff was very friendly and multilingual. Breakfast was very good. Great selection!! Our dinner in the restaurant was nice, but not enough variety and flavor. But, all in all I would recommend this hotel.

Lovely Hotel and an amazing staff.

We decided to book this hotel via Expedia for a 4 night stay. We were a group of 4 Adults and 3 kids. We had booked 2 rooms. The whole holiday was an unforgettable experience. The hotel was clean, the food was amazing, the rooms are large with good views. The facilities at the hotel are very well maintained and usable.

The staff is extremely friendly and very prompt with your requests. We had gone for Half board and the food for our entire stay was delicious and spot on, even the kids were happy. They also have a restaurant attached to the Hotel which we tried and even that is highly recommended.

A very good location good pool, nice beach

The hotel is very well located within 2 mins walk to an excellent, but not overcrowded beach. The hotel has a very good swimming pool - but the 'open hours' are too short and it should be available for longer. It is a very good family hotel. Nearby there are a number of interesting historical sights and some very nice hinterland villages to be explored.

Lovely hotel in great location near the beach

Stayed in the Altafulla Mar Hotel for four nights. Absolutely loved it. Our first impression – the reception staff were super professional and very welcoming. We were checked in quickly and without fuss. All reception staff appear to speak excellent English. Our bedroom was spacious with very comfortable beds. Fantastic shower. Nice touch leaving two small bottles of water in the fridge upon arrival. Delicious breakfast with superb choice. Fabulous swimming pool – great for kids or if you want to get some exercise and do laps! We also loved the seating area in the garden near the pool – it was so relaxing. The hotel is about five minutes’ walk to the gorgeous beach in Altafulla. Lots of free parking on the street outside the hotel. We will definitely be back.

Todo super bien. Pero el habitación tiene que tener más detalles. Era básica aunque limpio y cómodo. El vino tinto en el hotel no era suficiente opciones y no tenían muchos cócteles. Pero los tres restaurantes era bueno y también la cena de media pensión. Lamento que era lloviendo y no podía disfrutar las piscinas o solárium

Stort och fräscht rum med balkong med utemöbler. Tyvärr blås o regn på ankomstkvällen och blås på avresedagen så tiden på balkongen blev kort.
Åt middag i deras hälso-restaurang där personalen var otroligt serviceminded och kunnig.
En stor frukostbuffé med färsk frukt, många sorters te och kaffe, varma rätter, våfflor och andra delikata bakverk.
Vi skulle självklart åka tillbaka om tillfälle ges.
Nu var vi endast på genomresa

Hier fühlt man sich wohl

Mir hat das Zimmer sehr gut gefallen - es war groß, sauber und modern. Das Bett war sehr bequem, kostenloser Save und Kühlschrank, modernes Bad, großer Balkon, gutes WLAN, zwei deutsche TV-Programme. Das Hotel hat unten einen schönen Pool und eine wunderschöne Dachterrasse mit einen kleinen Pool - die Aussicht ist traumhaften. Das Frühstück war sehr gut. Dem Frühstücksraum fehlt leider etwas die Gemütlichkeit. Ich habe jederzeit einen kostenlosen Parkplatz in der Nähe des Hotels gefunden. Zu Fuß ist man in 3 Minuten am Meer. Das ganze Hotelpersonal war immer sehr freundlich.

Pool ist eher klein für die Anzahl Hotelzimmer. Baden im Pool ist erst ab 10.00 Uhr möglich, wenn der Bademeister anwesend ist. Das Essen ist mittelmässig, viele Speisen sind maximal lauwarm, teilweise auch kalt. Die Teigwaren schmecken nach nichts, sind total verkocht und dazu kalt. Das Buffet wiederholt sich. Wir würden keine Halbpension mehr buchen, denn an der Meerpromenade welche sehr klein ist, gibt es aber sehr herzige, kleine Restaurant mit einer schönen Auswahl an Speisen zu sehr vernünftigen Preisen. Das El Mercadet können wir bestens empfehlen. Im Hotel hat es viele Familien mit Kindern. Insgesamt war der Aufenthalt ok, jedoch nach unserer Meinung die aktuelle Bewertung von 9 zu hoch eingestuft.

Hyrde ett stort familjerum. Även på lägsta fläktnivån var ljuden från ACn väldigt hög vid en av de tre sängarna, vilket gjorde det svårt att sova där. En av oss vuxna behövde göra det ändå medan tre fick ligga i den stora sängen. I övrigt mycket hjälpsam och trevlig personal och fin pool. Tyvärr lite dåligt utbud av restauranger i området.

Great stay at Altafulla Mar Hotel

We arrived late in the evening and were welcomed by friendly staff who handled the check-in smoothly and ensured we made it to the dinner after a long day of traveling. The general vibe was nice and relaxed and the pool area was great for playing in the water and even swimming. The gym room could use some improvement but it gets the job done. We really enjoyed the food served at the restaurants, especially on breakfast. As our checkout was very early in the morning, they even gave us takeaway breakfast bags to enjoy on the go and we left with smiles on our faces.

Wonderful hotel close to the sea!

The hotel is newly renovated and only two streets (less than 200 meters) from the sea. It has nice, clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is great at any time during the morning and even in the off-season. The service is friendly and everyone speaks English. The bar is great and the two restaurants are good. The pools are clean and the rooftop pool provides a fantastic view both on the little village and castle or the sea. There are only a few things missing, e.g. an electric kettle or glasses for drinking, instead plastic cups are provided, but not daily. For a beach hotel it is also not common to not providing beach towels. The rooms are also very sterile, because some pictures are missing. We would anyway go back there at any time.

Tres bon hotel et tres beau village ancien

Tres bon emplacement ,pres de la plage et des bar restaurants. Le vieux village a 800 m vaut la visite, la plage est tres agreable avec douche et bordée d une rambla longeant les anciennes maisons de pecheurs.Il y a pas mal de restaurants sur la rambla et dans le village, pensez a réserver le WE car le lieux est prise des Catalans.

¡Perfecto para una escapada!

Por poner un pero fue en el desayuno, NO ESTÁ BIEN ORGANIZADO mucha cola a las 10:00 horas. Además se estropearon o se quedaron sin suministro las 3 máquinas de café, no supieron solucionarlo y tuvimos que pasar sin.

Heerlijk modern hotel in een klein pittoresk dorp waar het lijkt dat de tijd heeft stil te hebben gestaan.
Zalig bed, uitstekende badkamer, groot balkon heerlijk zwembad, uitstekend restaurant en een zeer uitgebreid ontbijt. Enige minpuntje geen verse jus voor het land van de sinasappel.
