We had a wonderful stay.

The room was perfect and loved wandering through the gardens and nearby walks despite the weather. Cosy evening by the fireplace, red wine and board games. The Christmas decorations were tasteful and festive.

A beautiful hotel in a lovely setting with the sound of the river when you sat on the terrace. The staff were exceptional and always ready to help with any request. The room was very comfortable, lovely big bed and superb bathroom.

Relaxing in comfort.

A beautiful hotel set in lovely gardens on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Very good standard of food. The classic room we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Perfect for a relaxing break once you have negotiated the 1.5 mile single track road to the hotel!

Magnificent, slightly remote hotel.

Lovely place in a quite remote location. Final approach is 2 miles of very narrow twisting road. Once arrived the welcome is second to none and service is first rate. Beautiful hotel with magnificent views provided you have a room situated in the front overlooking the gardens and river. Sadly the weather was quite wet but still managed to do some walking around the extensive grounds between heavy showers. Breakfast was very good and dinner excellent with limited but interesting choices and many additional extras. We recommend this hotel very highly.

Our stay at Gidleigh Park was extraordinary. I had never experienced the level of service offered or the professionalism of the staff. We felt welcomed and cared for as individuals. The meals were outstanding. I’m so glad I chose to stay there for part of our trip to England’s southwest, but every place after was a bit of a let down.

Fantastic weekend

Stayed over weekend for wife’s birthday and also for our first year wedding anniversary.

The service was fantastic, the food incredible and the hotel itself was in impeccable condition.

Couldn’t fault anything the whole weekend. If I could afford to go there every year I wouldn’t have a second thought about booking it!

Beautiful property. Room was very spacious , clean $ comfortable. Food was excellent at both dinner & lunch. Had a very pleasant one night stay although expensive but we knew that. The only thing bothered us was dog barking in the night . There was a dog staying right next door but don’t know if same dog. Would stay again but probably upstairs.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location

Gorgeous hotel in a stunning location in the Dartmoors (Chagford is a great little town too). Staff were all very welcoming and friendly and it was an incredibly relaxing stay. The only criticism I have is very minor and is that the restaurant service was a tad slow and a bit overpriced but we still had an excellent meal. I would definitely go back again!

Beautiful place but weak wifi

Very upscale and beautiful place but lacking in some respects for such a high end lodging. For example, the wifi was quite weak despite the fact that we stayed midweek and the hotel was far from full. Also there was no one to help us with our luggage to the car when we checked out. The grounds and property were very beautiful, and our welcome was very warm, plus they upgraded our room which was very nice. Except for the man who checked us out (who was not very friendly), the rest of the service was excellent.

We stayed for one night in a superior room. The room was clean, comfortable and luxurious. Spring water, fresh apples, a bag of dates and a decanter of sherry were provided. The bed was massive. The only down side was that Hotels.com advertised the room as having a garden view but the room only had a view of a tree at the back of the hotel from the bathroom; the bedroom itself had no window. We nevertheless very much enjoyed our stay. Before dinner, we went for a walk around the grounds, which were beautiful and relaxing. We had a cup of tea on the terace and admired the view. We ate the 10 course Taster menu with accompanying wine flight in the restaurant. An expensive experience but well worth it. The wine flight really complemented the food and greatly added to the overall experience, though our heads were a little worse for wear the next day. Breakfast in the restaurant was also very good, with a good selection of freshly cooked items as well as the breakfast buffet. My wife had bacon, eggs and tomatoes, and I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on a toasted crumpet - delicious. Breakfast service was a little slow but we were in no hurry and simply enjoyed the view from the windows. Staff at the hotel were welcoming and attentive. Overall, a lovely experience.

Situated deep in the English countryside.

The hotel has an imposing position, almost sticking its chest out . Once inside a warm welcome awaits, both the attitude of the staff and the comfort of the surroundings make you feel this is going to be enjoyable and comfortable.
The bedroom we were given was typically quintessential English with a view across the gardens where the views across the lawns streams and flowers stretched beyond to the moors. The bed was big and comfortable and adjacent bathroom had the shower wanted by everyone, large !

The food was created by a magician, like nothing I had tasted before, yes it was that good. The three course menu we choose was in fact ten by the time the chefs complimentry dishes had been had, the surprise came with coffee, and I won't spoil the surprise here.
One of the best things about staying in a luxury hotel for me is the cooked breakfast, no buffet, just freshly cooked mushrooms bacon and eggs, freshly squeezed juices and berrys aplenty.
