I would’ve given a 5 star rating but the pillows were the worst and the in-house Chili’s restaurant wasn’t the greatest either. Everything else was great-free transit passes, the bed, very close proximity to 2 transit stops, laundry facilities, the little kitchenette, the Rocky Mountain toiletries and the underground parking garage.

This place is good if you are literally staying outside of the hotel for most of the day and just need a place to sleep. It offers the bare minimum. Room is showing its age, curtains and carpet dirty, no mini fridge, lighting wasn’t working properly and no AC. Beds weren’t comfortable. The pool area is small and was extremely busy, cleanliness is questionable. I wouldn’t stay here again especially for the price point this is a 2 star at most, gives motel vibes.

Disappointing service and broken amenities
Our stay had several frustrating service and management issues. First, the coin laundry machine was broken, which was a major inconvenience since we desperately needed to wash clothes for the next day. Additionally, after housekeeping serviced our room, they accidentally left trash from other rooms inside ours.
While most of the front desk staff were pleasant, the woman working when we checked in and out was unfriendly and dismissive. When asked about our $200 damage deposit, she simply told us it would return in 5 to 6 business days. However, during our drive home, the hotel called us demanding credit card information to process the refund because we had paid with a debit card. If they hadn't called, or if we didn't carry a credit card, we would have been at risk of losing that money entirely since they apparently require you to handle debit refunds in person. The lack of communication and attention to detail was highly disappointing.

This property had an amazing staff. They were over the top kind and helpful. Their words and actions were professional, grounded, and very helpful.
Ken was especially great. He ASKED if he could walk back to my room and help me with a fob that was giving me trouble. He fixed the problem and then answered WAY too many of my questions about the area. The other staff were also great.
The Rocky Soap Company products were dreamy.
The room was cleaned up each day, right down to the dirty plate I left in the sink.
We went through Expedia and so I wonder if that’s why we received a room in the furthest backside of the hotel, facing louder construction. There was a large stain on the rug and upstairs couch. It still was awesome, don’t get me wrong, but, I wish we could’ve seen a mountain instead. Maybe there aren’t those views available.
We booked the hotel based on the price and the hot tub appearance. We didn’t even get the chance to use the hot tub, but that’s okay. It really did look sweet.
Most importantly, the people, they were awesome. Thank you!!

For the cost to stay here, I was somewhat disappointed with the finishings of the rooms. The living area was comfortable, the bed was clean and comfortable, but the bathroom was somewhat dated and not my level of cleanliness. The tap in the kitchen had lime scale on it, which left a lot to be desired. We both enjoy a tea or coffee in our room, but we were hesitant to use the kitchen for that purpose because of the state of the sink. The location was great, however, and we did enjoy the balcony looking out over the main street.

Check in and check out was easy. Staff were polite and friendly. The pool was unique and enjoyed using it. The bedroom has very poor lighting. The bedroom doesn’t have it’s own light, just 2-3 lamps in the room. The bathroom also has poor lighting. It had a lamp to the left side of the mirror but not the right so the lighting isn’t even when you’re looking into the mirror doing something like makeup or shaving. For the toilet we had to flush it down and then hold the handle up or else it wouldn’t work properly.

The staff was beyond amazing. Ken was a huge help from the moment I arrived until my last night at the property. The morning staff on my departure were very helpful and very kind.

Reception could not have been more helpful and Chili's restaurant is not bad! Made use of the laundry facilities and ice machine, sadly not the hot tub due to injury. Free private parking. Would highly recommend.

Great location on the main road in Banff but at the quieter end. Easy walk to main shopping area. Has free Roam bus passes for guests, & the stop is right outside of the hotel! Wonderfully useful! The view from our balcony was straight at Tunnel Mt. & had Sulphur Mt. off to the right. Beautiful! Our room had a little bit of trouble with the fireplace (wouldn’t come on). Maintenance came & said it had a bad pilot light, so if we wanted to use it, we would probably want to keep it running because it most likely wouldn’t come back on once we turned it off. We weren’t keen on keeping it on while away, but we didn’t really need it on a consistent basis, so we only used it once. The Chili’s restaurant in the lobby was quite convenient for when we first arrived and just wanted a quick lunch. Did not get to use the hot pool, but it looked neat to have. Loved having the kitchenette in the loft room. We walked to IGA and got some items for easy breakfasts & to pack lunches and snacks. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel and its location! We would definitely book again if we get back up to Banff!

Wonderful stay. The suite was larger than expected, with kitchen, and living room area. Would've been great if we were staying longer than one night. The grotto hot tub was divine after a hike.

Only 'complaint' was that the hair conditioner wasn't filled, so I barely had enough for my one shower, but if we were staying longer I just would've asked them to fill it.

And a heads up to anyone arriving with a roof rack/roof storage box on their car, their underground parking only accommodates up to 6'3 heights. We were able to park on the surrounding side street, free with a park pass.

The rooms are very small, there is no air conditioning and no appliances in the room. Forcing you to eat at restaurants. Any leftovers from our meals could not be taken back and eaten later as we had no place to safely keep them. For $500+ a night I’d expect basic amenities like air and a mini fridge.

We were visiting canmore for my husband's birthday, really excited for the hot tub after spending the day in the canmore Cave. Arrived at hotel and unfortunately the lock to our room was dysfunctional ...so the manager upgraded us right away. That meant that we could change and have time to soak in the pool . Very convenient location. The staff was super friendly and courteous. The attached restaurant wasn’t very good, that’s my only complaint. The room could have used a bit of an update. For well over $600 a night I was expecting a little better of a room. Broken lamps, old wallpaper and furniture, premium location so I guess that’s what you are really paying for. This location has some great perks: the hot pool is amazing and relaxing after a long day of hikibg. The free underground parking is a bonus and they provide free Roam bus passes, with a stop right out front. This is something you definitely want to take advantage of to get around town without needing to drive and pay to park at other spots. There is an elevator so you will not need to carry luggage upstairs. The gym and free wifi were also great. There was a little inconvenience of not being able to have the blinds open, due to the walkway being directly past the rooms and the view into the room. Staff were very helpful and friendly as well as efficient, there was no wait when needing to ask staff for assistance. There were even umbrellas available to borrow as it was a bit rainy. Overall, a pleasant stay with great perks.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and we appreciated the free bus passes the hotel provided so that we could explore around Banff. The only downside was that there was no fridge or microwave in the room so we couldn’t store or heat up our leftovers. Plus the lighting in the bathroom was too dim, making it a little difficult to see. Besides that we enjoyed our stay!

No air conditioning so for the time of year we had to leave the window open which is fine except for the traffic and train noise. For the over $400 per night spent for two nights it was very steep in our opinion. Check-in and Check-out were smooth, parking underground was great.

The Grotto Pool was the biggest reason we booked here. It was really nice, although my spouse and I both thought the music in the grotto was annoying. Something relaxing instead of Top 40 hits would’ve been nicer.

The rooms themselves were decent. Beds seemed a little shorter than I’m used to. Good toiletries and amenities.

Building shows some age and wear but still a nice enough place to stay.

Front desk was very kind, helpful, and welcoming. The staff was great.

The Fox hotel though was amazing as always, the only thing I’d suggest is for when it’s the end of the day and you’re back in your room settling down id suggest bringing a chrome stick or something to stream Netflix or whatever platform because their TVs aren’t smart TVs.

The hotel was nice but the room and amenities were quite dated. The hotel is on Banff Ave and is about a 15 minute walk to downtown. They do provide the guests with bus passes so they don't have to pay for parking downtown. We loved the fact that it was more on the residential side so street parking was easy to find and it was quiet at night. We had a treat one night when a bunch of deer showed up at our steps and started eating the grass right outside our room.

The hotel was ok, the lobby was beautiful and the staff at the desk were extremely nice and helpful. Once you went out the doors toward the rooms it was just ok. Rooms were tiny, meaning in the bathroom you could not open the door past the toilet as it would hit, so you had to come in close the door to get to the shower. No place to sit in the main area comfortably to relax, love seat available but cushions would slide out when you sat. Once you returned to your room at the end of the day it was mainly to the bedroom to relax. Pool is much smaller then it looks in the pictures and was dirty. Chili's was nice to have in the hotel for a close food option.

It's dark, the taps were dripping in the shower and kitchen and the towel rack fell off the wall. The couch looked dirty and was frayed on the skirt. It was hard to sit on it. We recently stayed at the Fox for a dance competition, arriving Thursday and checking out Saturday, before returning Sunday to stay until Monday. We’ve stayed at the Fox many times over the years and it has always been a favorite for our family. The grotto is always a huge hit with the kids, and we especially love the two floor units that help separate the living and sleeping spaces.

Our first two nights were wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised to be placed in a renovated room. The beds were very comfortable, the room felt fresh and clean, and we slept really well.

When we returned on Sunday, check-in was once again easy and the staff were excellent. Unfortunately, the room we were assigned that night was very run down. The condition of the room made it feel unclean. The floors did not feel clean, the couches were heavily stained, and overall it just didn’t feel well maintained. It was concerning enough that we requested a different room.

To the staff’s credit, they were extremely accommodating, especially considering it was a long weekend and the hotel was sold out except for a two bedroom suite. They upgraded us at no additional charge, which we truly appreciated.

The staff and location continue to be major positives for this property, and we’ve had many great stays here. However, I am hesitant to book again until all rooms are renovated, as the inconsistency between renovated and older rooms is significant.

Overall good experience. After seeing our original booked room, it was very small and didn’t have a fridge and we requested an upgrade which was easy. The new room was much better. However, the shower curtain didn’t have a liner so water would cover the floor which was very problematic for slipping. We weren’t able to find towels for the hot tub area so towels were used up quick. The kitchenette was great. Bed was comfy but I wish the comforter would have been thicker. Parking was very good, and we got complimentary bus access. The elevator needs to be replaced, it is VERY slow and buttons don’t work half the time. Overall good experience.

There is literally no parking for more than like 25 cars. You will have to pay $50-100 for parking and it will be possibly 1/4 mile or more away. 1980s dirty coffee maker in the room, no filters or small packets of coffee so absolutely useless (too dirty anyway). Beds hard, check in person was rude (the male), female was nice and helpful. WAY overpriced who what you get. Very beautiful on the outside, but the rooms are not great.

We checked into Fox Hotel and Suites in Banff for an overnight stay in May 2026, over a decade after our last stay here in 2013. The hotel is about 15 years old and near the edge of Banff (about a 10 min walk to town). Check-in went smoothly. The room was smaller than average, a little tight for 2 persons. Furnishing was ok. The room came with a kettle, coffeemaker and a Queen bed, but no fridge or microwave. The bathroom was also rather small, only one person can occupy the bathroom at any time, and instructions for turning on the shower was hard to understand – I finally got it, pull down the knob underneath the faucet, and the shower curtain was too short and allowed water from the shower to make the bathroom floor wet. There was no complementary breakfast, although breakfast (and lunch and dinner) is available at the on-site Chilli’s restaurant. There’s an indoor pool whose ceiling is open-air and laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers in the basement. The hotel is over 12 years old and showing its age, some of the wall wooden panels are worn, the card sensor to our room door didn’t function well (I had to insert m card more than once to get into my room) and one of the table lamps’ shade in our room had holes in it. Maybe it’s time for a small renovation and updating.

The hotel is in a great location, just 10 minutes away from downtown Banff and all of the shopping and restaurants. We arrived at the hotel a few hours early and they let us park and even check into a room no problem. The hot tub was a very cool feature. Staff was always pleasant and friendly.
