Very old. Crack big enough in door that the fumes from the vehicle idling in the parking lot came right in. Tiny TV half worked at night, not at all in morning. Light outside window doesn’t allow room to get dark enough at night. Coffee maker in room was broken…Front desk lady was very nice

We had high hopes for our stay at the Salida Inn and Monarch Suites, but unfortunately the experience fell short in several areas.
Breakfast: Described as complimentary breakfast, but “breakfast” is a generous term. The spread consisted of prepackaged muffins, toast, bagels, cold cereal, and the only fruit available was apples. Don’t expect anything fresh, hot, or varied. If a real morning meal matters to you, plan to eat elsewhere.
Hot Tub: This was a significant disappointment. The hot tub was out of order during our entire stay — something that was never mentioned anywhere on the website or in our booking details. We specifically looked forward to this amenity. Guests deserve to know about this before booking, not after arriving.
Room Condition: The bathroom tub had visible stains and was dirty in spots, which is simply unacceptable at any price point. The carpet throughout the room was noticeably worn and dingy — not the kind of tired that comes from heavy use alone, but the kind that suggests it’s well overdue for replacement.
Bottom Line: The property may be conveniently located, but the condition of the rooms and the lack of transparency about out-of-service amenities make it hard to recommend. For the rate charged, guests should reasonably expect a clean bathroom and honest disclosure about what’s actually available. We won’t be returning until there are meaningful improvements made.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staffing was absolutely horrible. Five minutes after checking in desk person was gone - waited about 10 minutes and never showed back up. Had explained we made two separate consecutive reservations because of weather and wanted to stay in same room and supposedly was taken care of but the next day we were locked out of our room. Called the phone number on door two times and spoke with a reservation agent who stated she would leave a message (apparently it went to the front desk nobody was manning). After approximately 1/2 hour the maintenance man showed up and contacted someone to help us. So after about 45 minutes we finally made it to our room. The next morning I received another charge on my card for the room we’d already paid for. They stated it was because they hadn’t been paid by Hotels.com and when they got paid the charge would disappear. I have used Hotels.com for many years and have never experienced this before. It’s been three days since we’ve checked out and the charge is still pending on my card. We will definitely stay somewhere else next time we visit Salida.

There always has to be one and I’m it this time. Booked 1 night for basketball tournament and a few days later booked another night because the weather was turning bad. Notified hotel at check-in and via message on website of 2 separate bookings but 2 nights together so we could stay in same room. Chose pay at hotel for first booking and was charged on card full amount 2 days after booking and before our travel. Directly after check-in we went back to the office needing something, waited around for about 10 minutes and nobody showed up, they were gone. After 1st night went out to eat and keys didn’t work on door when we returned. Nobody was in the office or anywhere else. Called their phone number twice and received answering service that stated they’d send a message to the computer nobody was manning. Finally the maintenance guy showed up and he phoned someone to let us in our room after about 30-45 minutes of trying to contact someone. Leaving today and see they’ve double charged us which is pretty irritating after everything else and a night of loose sheets that came off the bed. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but we can hear all the traffic on Hwy 50. I understand things happen and off season but all events combined has become too much. Staying here again is a definite no.

Property needs attention frankly - outside carpeted areas are dirty, needing sweeping and vacuuming regularly. The sink and tub drains were very slow to drain. The shower head is caked with calcification and didn't spray well. Room needs hooks near bathroom for towels. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is very 70s, and you could easily add some whole grain breads, cereals and greek yogurts for little additional cost.

Staff was nice. Easy check in. Lodge could definitely use some upgrades. Old carpets would be first thing I’d remove. They’re a little smelly and have seen better years. Furniture is beat up. Hot tub is in a weird spot (my opinion) so didn’t take advantage of it.
Bed was comfy (firm which is what I like).You can easily drive to Downtown Salida from here so good location. Would recommend if you’re not looking to stay in room much and just need a bed to crash. I’ve stayed in other spots in Salida and to be honest, they are not that much different so you’ll be fine staying here.

The staff was kind and friendly however we didn’t have water for a period of time. The hot tub was warm at best and when we came back to the room to warm up on our jetted tub, that water was cold. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were uncomfortable. We stayed for two days and woke up with neck and back pain. The back deck had broken planks so we were afraid to walk in them. I wish I could give a better review but I must be honest.

Room was very cold. Inverter heater was incapable of warming it up. It was 60 degrees when we got into the room. We turned the heat up to maximum and the room had only warmed to 66 when we checked out the next morning. Room did have 3 queen beds as promised. Room condition was so-so at best.

I think I need to just call hotels to make reservations. We always seen to get the worst rooms going through hotels and booking .Coffee pot wouldn’t work, microwave was on it last leg, little bugs flying around in our room,bug in the fridge, had a smell in the room. But had a nice shower and beds were ok. I don’t know how this place got such good reviews. Maybe it was the cottages on the back . We stayed other places in Salida and have been real nice rooms.

I just really liked the feeling of the whole place and the trees in the back and how the room was decorated. It just felt really cozy. I was going through kind of a bad time and I needed to get away from home for a bit and it was perfect. The bathroom was really nice as well. Sometimes the bathroom and some of these places can be kind of gross and these were really nice and redone.

We had one of the 2 bedroom cottages. The space was perfect. The room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable.! Plenty of pillows. We could park right in front of our room. We used the pool which was clean and had an outdoor changing room. We were able to have our dogs there. There was a dog park off the property, but nearby. We would definitely stay here again.

This was a good little stop for my hubby, daughter, son and I. It’s right off the main road but there’s a Walmart nearby if anything is needed. The pool and hot tub were nice. The room was a good size for four people. The only issue was the AC splitter unit could not keep the room cool. We all didn’t sleep very well due to it being so warm. We tried the turbo setting the front desk recommended when asked but didn’t make much difference. The best part was being next door to the Salida River Adventure company. Very handy to leave our car and personal things in the room and walk next door for our whitewater rafting trip which was our main event for our vacation. Overall not bad for a roadside family spot.

Salida Inn and Monarch Suites- was half the price of other low to medium motels in the area, including Buena Vista and Leadville as well as Salida. So I expected it to be not so great- but we were pleasantly surprised. I cannot speak for the \"Monarch Suites\"- they did not look too impressive from the outside- like mini cabins in the parking lot. But we stayed in a regular room at the Inn and it was very nice in every way- clean, comfortable, quiet, spacious, good location, very friendly staff.
