We were made to feel very welcome by the family.

The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and everything we needed. The en-suite was a room in itself, very well equipped; the shower was easy to use and accessible. Much appreciated too was the non-slip mat.

Plenty of parking and for those with EVs, there is cheap 50kW charging 3km away at Planet Aire.

We hope to return.

We enjoyed the 3-course home-cooked dinner and the continental breakfast with eggs, cold meat, yogurt and more, with a selection of bread and petits pains
bought fresh in the morning to our order.

The husband and wife team purchased the hotel 2 years ago and are trying extremely hard to bring the property up to date. The business model is one of home from home with home cooking (the food is delicious) the rooms and bathrooms are huge. This is certainly a property to keep an eye out for as this will gradually improve. Its very near Calais so works well location wise. Dinner was good value for money and tasty. Please note to book ahead for dinner. May we wish the owners much luck for the future.

Excellent Hotel for a Stay in the Calais Vicinity

This hotel offers a very personal level of service run by a young couple. Communication from Thomas was excellent.

The Chateau is located in a small village . Parking was plentiful. The rooms have plenty of character and are large and spacious. However the mattress on the bed was a bit hard for me personally. As a suggestion, a foam mattress topper might be a good idea.

We were offered a 3 course meal which we took advantage of especially following a 6 hour drive from Colmar.

The dinner was superb and obviously lovingly prepared by Thomas’ wife.

We had an early start the next day but Thomas ensured we had some croissants and coffee before we left.

The Eurotunnel is about 45 minutes drive away.

We do recommend this hotel and would return.

Lovely overnight stop on our way home from France at this very grand-looking home. The owners, who treat clients as house guests, gave us a warm welcome and provided us with a delicious home cooked dinner. Morning fresh bread and pastries collected to order by mine host for breakfast accompanied a good buffet. Comfortable bed, clean linen and ample parking. Very good value too - we will be back.

A great place to stay

Stayed for two nights during a business trip to a local client, great place as a change to usual hotels I use and I will certainly stay here again. The owners, who also staff the Chateau, were very friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and the room I stayed in had so much space with a great view of the garden.

Wonderful stay at Château de Moulin le Comte

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Château de Moulin le Comte. Lovely to see a young couple living their dream of owning a Château. Very much like the UK television series Escape to the Château.

I urge people to stay at the Château de Moulin le Comte you are supporting real people giving real service.

Our room in the Château was large with its own large bathroom and toilet. The location is great for channel ferries and I will definitely stay there again and stay a couple of nights to explore the area.

Beautiful Chateau

We stayed overnight on our way back from the South of France. It is a beautiful place in a tiny village. Our room was lovely with a huge comfy bed and a large modern bathroom. The shower was great with plenty of hot water.
We couldn’t check in until 4pm and the door is locked at 11pm but this wasn’t a problem for us. It was quiet and peaceful and exactly what we needed after a long drive.
We ate dinner and breakfast and both were delicious. The hosts are really welcoming and made us feel at home. We would definitely stay here again.

Rooms were clean and the house has beautiful ornate rooms. Beds were comfortable. Overall though, this was overpriced as many elements felt like money saving opportunities for the owners. Tea and coffee in the rooms were very basic, bread and pastries at breakfast tasted cheap (possibly from a supermarket rather than a proper bakery) and the limited buffet selection was what you would expect from a much cheaper hotel.

This was the most inconvenient and inappropriately advertised stay I have ever encountered. We booked on Expedia and specifically looked for regulations as we are familiar with French properties having special or unusual restrictions than USA. I combed through this adverstiment with a fine tooth comb and found nothing other than check in stops at 11p. We arrive and during check in we were notified that doors lock at 11p as well we will have no access to our room daily from 11a-4p. This, we were told, was due to local regulations. Again, nothing of this was mentioned on Expedia. We arrived late so we checked in and stayed the night. We booked this stay for 2 adults and 1 infant. When on vacation or traveling, our hotel is supposed to be our place of rest however here you are denied access to the room you pay almost $200/night to. This is ridiculously unreasonable, especially for us with an infant that has daily naps. We addressed this with the property owners and after some discussion we told them we are leaving and we would like a refund for the nights we did not stay. We booked a total of 8, we slept 2 and they only refunded us 5. There was also no heat. They had space heaters in each room. The toilet didn’t flush properly and the shower made a screeching noise when in use. I respect this is an old property, but this was us accommodating them and not vice versa. The handing of finances is beyond nickel and diming. Clearly they don’t understand the business of hospitality.

Quiet countryside location in restored chateau.

Our 4th time here, a re-modeled chateau that has preserved the 19th century ambiance, with exception that bathrooms are 21st century boutique hotel style. Large rooms with tall celiings, quiet location at the edge of town in farm area. Owners are excellent chefs who serve the best dinner in the area at low cost, using local produce. Full breakfast is more than ample. Location is near St Omer which also has good restaurants. Not much going on in Aire sur la lys, but it is a historic town with a few small restaurants.

Lovely and quirky house

The Chateau Molin is a lovely old house. We were greeted in the cobbled courtyard by the father and son owners and went into the lobby which is a beautiful entryway, but had a weird unpleasant smell - sort of a mix of pee and very ripe cheese. We had a slightly Sidney Greenstreet/Peter Lorre welcome from the father who then went to the kitchen to continue cooking. The son took us to the room which was lovely - big, airy with a view over the large shaded garden. Everything was clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. We didn't eat dinner since we didn't want that much. Breakfast was typical - bread, croissants, cereal, hardboiled eggs, homemade jams which were very nice. It was a slightly quirky stay and convenient for the Eurotunnel the next morning (after we negotiated the blocked roads).

A beautiful setting

This is a beautiful hotel, built in 1850 and having an opulence that makes you feel like royalty. Francis, the owner met us and gave us a tour before showing us our room on the first floor. It was very spacious, with a canopied bed and a great view of the garden. It is lovely and peaceful with a comfy bed and tea and coffee in the room. The bathroom had a hairdryer which is very useful. The continental breakfast is lovely with some of the nicest bread and croissants we have tasted. Cedric, Francis's dad introduced himself to us and we did feel very welcome.
A really nice place to stay and not too far from Dunkirk about 60 kms.

Convenient overnight stop before Calais tunnel

Very warm welcome from the Father and Son owners into a slightly unusual renovated Chateau as it also still operates as their family home. Full of antiques and bric a brac the public rooms have lots of character. The bedroom, with its canopy bed, high ceilings and large windows was very spacious and clean and had a modern en-suite shower room attached.
We had an excellent 5 course dinner in the chateau cooked and served by the owners who had previously checked on our dietary requirements and happily catered for my wife’s preference not to have red meat.
Although we had pre-paid for our accommodation we had to pay for our meal and drinks and had been advised in advance that the owners require these extras to be paid in cash.
Overall we enjoyed an experience that was very different (in a good way) from all of the more modern chain hotels we had used for the rest of this trip.

Disappointed & Expensive

Disappointed on arrival we were told we'd kept them waiting as the Dr had his pans on we just wanted to have a brief stretch & wait for our friends. Rooms are nice large & bathroom lovely. We were told to arrive for dinner @ 7:30 sharp to meet no such thing nobody there but our group just an opportunity for the owners to sell expensive drinks dinner is a 5 plate menu the contents of all 5 would have gone on one plate. Wasn't exactly fine dining I couldn't understand the urgency of the pans everything could have been prepared way ahead of time. A very poor attempt of a degustation. The dining room was nicely decorated which can be more than said of the exterior the large gardens would have been nicer if there hadn't been so many dead flowers all in all we thought the stay expensive. We cancelled our return stay.

Welcoming pit stop and great food

This was a great stop on the way back to Calais and the UK at the end of our trip. The hotel is near the motorway and easy to find. It's a hotel full of character and if you are travelling with a dog, it's perfect: the owners love dogs and have several of their own. The hotel is located near Aire sur la Lys, which has a few buildings of interest but is a small town, so I fully recommend eating at the hotel instead of in town. The food is stunning and they coped with my odd list of food allergies with great kindness. The owners were very welcoming and the hotel is full of character.

Country chateau in pastoral farm setting

This was our third time here, it is one of our favorite places to use as a base for visiting the area of Nord pas de Calais and a comforable drive to Channel, Brugge and Brussels as well. This is a B&B that is a real chateau that has been remodeled in the period style, on several acres of land. It is not a hotel, thus they are legally obliged to shut down from 11:00 to 16:00, requiring quests to be out and about during this time, and there is no daily linen service. Rooms are large and bathrooms are completely remodeled in stylish modern style. The chateau is in farm country and the experience transports one back in time to simpler surroundings. Several very good restaurants are in the area, including dinner on request at the Chateau, 4 course gourment dinner at bistro prices. The owners ran a restaurant in Belgium, so they are excellent chefs. Breakfast is included, and is more than adequate with basket of croissants and baguettes, cold cuts, yogurt, soft boiled egg, jams, etc, all served at your table. Large cobblestone parking courtyard in front of property.

I was met at the entrance by both the owner and his son, and welcomed into the building. Then I was shown my room...about six times the usual hotel size, with furniture in keeping with the period. The en-suite bathroom was also large, and well-equipped.
The bed was extremely comfortable and I spent an excellent night in it. Then to breakfast next moring. This was a typical FRENCH one, but regrettably there was no English eqivalent available...the only downside of my whole stay.
As I was heading to the ferry at Calais, down the autoroute for around 40 miles, I rather missed this. French breakfsat is not as sustainable!!!

One of the best and friendliest hotels

This is a family ran hotel located not far from the motorways connecting North and South of France. The house is very beautiful with great attention to details with a great garden. We had a pleasent stay!

Past its best

Very hard to find, even on the satnav. The hotel/B&B is run by a father and son from Belgium. A once lovely building, now rather faded and in need of much repair, it offers large but fairly basic rooms. The public areas of the hotel are better furnished and more pleasant, as is the garden area. Due to the now suburban location of the Chateau, there are not restaurants nearby. The food offered by the owners is extremely poor.

Beautiful chateau in pastoral setting

This is a completely renovated chateau located near the edge of town 15 min walk to central square. The reasonable rate includes a large breakfast served in a classic dining room furnished with antiques. The remodeling retained classic French chateau features, brought up to designer standards. The bathrooms, however, were very modern. The grounds are about two acres with large back area, bordered by the Lys river on one side and a small stream on the other, in a quiet country farm setting. Both proprietors, father and son, are very accommodating and hospitable. Optional additional five course dinners were excellent as the son, Cedric, has chefs training. At 29 Euros plus 19 euros for a bottle of wine, value is exceptional. A workaround that needs to be considered is that this is not a full service hotel for tax purposes, and as such is closed from 11:00 to 16:00 while the proprietors shop and you are apt to find the door locked, although a cell phone number is provided for urgencies. After 21:00, entry may require ringing the bell as they live there. Minor limitation, definitely would stay here again.

Grand but not cosy

The chateau is grand and imposing and our room was huge with comfortable furniture on a rough wooden floor. Glad we had slippers! The bed was fantastic and the view over the garden glorious, but the room was dim and the lighting poor. Owners obviously enjoy using their English - although we'd have been happy to speak French! Breakfast was generous, but to a hideous background music, and very odd in France not to have chocolat chaud offered to us, though Nesquik was offered when we asked.

Very disapointing

this is not an hotel but a private house that does not provide normal hotel services like cleaning the room and arrangig it after the first night and before the second. The chateau is simple and really nothing connected with chateau expectations. For every question father and son claim they are not an hotel but private house nd according to French law they cannot provide normal hotel services..Never Again

Chateaux with basic style and lots of character

Father and son cook serve and made us very welcome. Only 5 rooms and most eat in so lots of conversation between guests before supper. Good food, lots of courses, no choice unless you have special diets. A very good place to stay with easy drive to channel ports.

Beautiful rooms and great service

We stayed for two nights either side of our holiday in Brittany. The Chateau is a 45 min drive from the eurotunnel terminal so is in an ideal location to use as a stop over. We had a lovely evening meal (booked in advance) as we didnt want the hassle of finding somewhere to eat after a long journey. The rooms are beautiful as is the dining room. Service from Cedric and Francis was first class. Our stay was excellent value.

Great stopover for trip to mid or south of France

Charming hotel with friendly, helpful hosts who speak excellent English and very comfortable rooms. Not too far off the A26 so a great place to stopover at the start of your holiday. We didn't find the town very interesting but everything was closed and it was raining so maybe that influenced us. We found it best to arrange to have the dinner - you need to book in advance, and enjoy a drink in the garden (weather permitting) before you go in for your meal. We stayed again on our way home and as it is only 30 minutes from Calais, it meant we could get an earlier train and miss the worst of the M25 traffic!

Great Welcome

Arriving from Calais Ferryport (40 minutes drive) we were welcomed at the front door by the owners who immediately made us most welcome to 'their' home. The chataeu has been extensively renovated without losing its classic French charm.
We were invited for aperitifs before the 5 course dinner, all prepared by Francis and served by his son. Where many French meals can include a number of courses of miniscule proportions, this meal eventually proved too much to eat everything - a wonderful mix of flavour and textures. Breakfast the following morning was equally substantial and of excellent quality.
We can thoroughly recommend Chateau Moulin le Comte as a hotel with a difference - perhaps slighlty more expensive than your average chain hotel, but worth every centime for the experience and quality

A wonderful chateau and a warm welcome.

This was a wonderful night's stay in a beautiful room (the green one) with wonderful dinner and a warm reception from the father and son team. Our room was very comfortable with a modern shower room and a view of the beautiful gardens and we awoke accompanied by birdsong and the river flowing at the edge of the garden. The only negative about this hotel stay was the overwhelmingly strong doggy smell present at the front door and the downstairs of the house (not the dining room, thankfully). This is due to the son owning 9 chihuahuas who lived in the room directly next to the front door. This was a great shame as it meant that there was an odious battle between dog and air freshener and the unfortunate loser was the guest. Everything else was perfect.

Fabulous hosts and excellent cuisine

We really enjoyed our overnight stay... our English Springer Spaniel was also made v. welcome. This is a Father and Son enterprise. The room was enormous and lovely bathroom and hot shower and fabulous extra large bed. The evening meal was of excellent quality. There is not a choice but the four courses certainly whetted our taste buds and it was reasonably priced.
