A nice home away from home

Riad Ajmal is a comfortable and convenient home away from home. I really like the cleanliness of the space and the terrace. My room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The staff were polite and friendly the only thing I think needs improving is the breakfast options some days it was good but other days it felt like the food had been prepared the day before and not so fresh.

Perfect intro into Medina Riad living in Marrakech

Nice location, on a quiet part with access to be deeper into the medina. The staff is really friendly & so welcoming. Rooms are typical size for a small riad, comfortable beds and good water pressure which is sometimes hard to find! Would come back for sure, a nice place to stay and a reasonable price.

Riad within the Medina walls

Not a great start when the expected transfer to the Riad wasn’t at the airport so had to get a taxi. The Riad itself was great but the management of the place was ‘relaxed’ to say the least. Stayed for 3 nights. No breakfast on day one, our room wasn’t turned down during our stay and the rooftop terrace was in need of a clean/tidy. Didn’t spoil our trip but the Riad could be great with a little more attention to detail.

Loved our stay and especially the staff!

Myself and a friend stayed in Riad Ajmal for a week this August and had the most amazing time. The neighbourhood feels very safe and quiet. It’s peaceful even though it’s only a walk away from the centre of the city. Our room was a good size and lovely, the A/C was amazing and we especially loved the pool too for cooling down when it got so hot.
Our three main hosts made us feel so comfortable in the riad, extremely safe and well looked after. Every morning we were treated to large breakfast in the courtyard by Ahmad, even when we had to leave very early for day trips. He was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Fatima cooked amazing food for us- the best tagine we had the entire week (and that’s saying something). And Bety was just an all round star, taking care of us, welcoming us and sharing some of her culture with us.
Our relationship with the riad staff and time spent in the riad made our marrrakech trip so special- unlike any other holiday. We would definitely recommend to anyone and we can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful Riad, perfect service

In the old city, around 10 mins walk from the main square, and in a quiet neighborhood on the new town/station/Airport side of the Medina. The hotel is a island of calm in a bustling town. Rooms are traditionally decorated and comfortable. Lovely roof terrace with a view of the Koutoubia mosque minaret. Mustafa the manager and the rest of the staff could not be more welcoming and helpful. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Excellent traditional Riad!

We loved our stay at Riad Ajmal. It is a beautiful, traditional Riad... a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech! I particularly liked its location. The Riad is down a rabbit warren of little streets, which is exactly what we wanted, a real experience of the Medina. It is also perfectly located for the souks, restaurants, and within walking distance of the main square and the Koutoubia Mosque. It is also situated very near a taxi rank, which made all our transfers and trips out easy. Mustafa and Bushran (sorry for the spelling) were perfect hosts and made the whole stay very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious, especially the pancakes, yum! Would definitely recommend and would love to go back one day.

Chose a Riad to stay in on our second visit to Marrakech but unfortunately it didn't help make our trip memorable.Things got off to a bad start when there was no pick up from the airport despite booking it weeks in advance and sending a reminder email the week before.Repeated calls to the Riad went unanswered until a call back to say 'Had you booked?'!! Waited 45 minutes in the end and to make it worse, there was no reference to it or an apology when we arrived.Considering there was only one other person there not sure how you lose track.Free Wi-Fi is included however, signal was only there when you first enter the room.We had booked a double room which turned out to be twin mattresses joined together and one half was very uncomfortable with squeaky springs.The towels and robe were scratchy and also the lighting in the rooms/bathroom overall was very dim. Breakfast was simple but the exact same thing every day,despite there being numerous bakeries in the local area.It would have been nice to have a different type of bread or some pastries.Some positives- the 2 female staff members are very friendly and helpful,especially as we hardly came across the manager.The place is nice and quiet compared to the hectic streets in the surrounding area and not difficult to find once you get your bearings.It is approximately a 15 minute walk to the main square and there are many shops and cafes along the way.The coffee served at breakfast was very good. Overall,not going to return

This medina Riad is well placed for exploring the souks and old town. If you are looking for an authentic Riad experience this is perfect- the staff are very helpful and accommodating. We were swept up in the hustle of the medina and went off early one morning without telling them we wouldn't be around for breakfast- only to find out the next day they had been waiting for us all morning! This is an example of the kindness we experienced- and also a note to future travellers, if you won't be there for breakfast let them know! Def recommend staying at Ajmal.

Perfect location - a hidden gem

A basic but clean, friendly Riad. The biggest surprise was the rooftop seating area, and the super-cute domed Spa cubicle (also on the roof) where we undertook hamman. The in-house dinner was declicious, and the Manager was really helpful with tips/arranging taxis. Breakfast was plentiful and always served with grace and a smile. The place is a bit tricky to find, but easy peasy once you get your bearings. Perfect for our 4 night stay as the location is fantastic...the only real downside was no hanging space for clothes in the bedroom (only shelves) and don't expect more than pretty basic amenities, but it has a good shower and fine as a base from which to explore the surrounding areas and absolutely perfect for a quiet night on the roof terrace after a good dinner, or for some spa treatments ('local' hamman, massage). Would certainly stay here again.

A real Moroccan experience!

We were greeted by Mustafa who made us feel very welcome. His staff were fantastic and made us the most amazing tea! The Riad is situated a 8 minute walk from the Souks, perfect if you want to explore the city and have a real Moroccan experience! Mustafa also organised our excursion which were totally hassle free. Couldn't recommend staying here any higher. Had an awesome trip and slightly fell in love with Marrakech. The Riad is also beautiful with a view of the Atlas Mountains from the room where there are sofas and seating.

Beautiful traditional riad

This riad is a wonderful escape from the busy souks which are just around the corner! Lovely staff, mint tea on arrival, spotlessly clean and always happy to help. Really authentic Moroccan riad with a beautiful inner courtyard. Everywhere you look is gorgeous. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a traditional riad in the Medina.

On going up the dull passageway to the riad we were wondering what on earth we had booked! But once the door was open it was a complete transformation of calm and tranquillity. Totally Moroccan feel and greeted by Mustapha who served us Moroccan mint tea. Loved our room and the food was awesome. We were close to the souks and not too far from the madina square or the Tanneries. Marrakech is a crazy place but it was always nice to get back to the calmness of the riad. We done lots of walking that week as well as visiting the waterfalls and going to atlas mountains.Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again.

Beautiful beyond words…

I wasn’t sure what to expect before arriving even though it had very good reviews but this Riad turned out to be a beautiful gem that really made our trip extra special. Very pretty, peaceful and tranquil in the middle of a lively area and within walking distance to most attractions. The room we were in was lovely and spacious and the whole riad is cosy and very clean-it was sometimes hard to leave the roof terrace (and its wonderful views) and go out and explore Marrakech ) The staff (Mustafa and Ishraq) were warm, super lovely and helpful with absolutely EVERYTHING. Breakfast was always delicious and we had a wonderful dinner there for our last evening- I am vegan but had no problem with meals at all. I will definitely be coming back to this beautiful place…Thank you Mustafa and Ishraq for making our stay super special….

An oasis of tranquility in a hectic city

Absolutely loved the Riad and the owners made us feel very welcome and at home! You have everything you need for a good holiday.... Including a nice terasse to glaze at stars at night. The Riad is very cozy and nicely decorated, with lots of traditional / old features. The room A/C was a great relief after a long day in the streets at 43 degrees :)!
Absolutely recomended and we will definetely visit again!

Riad Ajmal was a pleasant surprise. It only has 6 rooms so it is very small They are spacious and traditionally decorated. As we went in January it was a bit cold and rainy but the owner put the portable heaters on in the breakfast room and the air con unit was used as heater.
It is basic but clean and staff are helpful.
Just watch for the touristic tax you need to pay before you leave and there was a bit of confusion on the final bill as exchange was done mainly in Euros.
Location is great as far enough from the center and close enough to get walk to museums and 15min from the square via the main street.

Very basic room and amenities. Not what we expected. Food good but dull. Staff at riad first rate - could not have been more pleasant or helpful.
Email communication very poor. Having booked a driver to meet us at the airport he was not there when we arrived. He appeared just as we were about to find a taxi. We were ill-informed about the car dropping point. It was not possible for a car to drive right up to the riad. A 300 yard walk was needed.
We enquired whether the riad had a swimming pool. We were told it had. It was ten foot square, 2 foot deep - in the foyer!
We had a superb trip with you to Venice in January. This trip measured up very poorly. We will be very careful about any future such offers.

A short retreat paradise

Great location, just inside of the old town walls. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating, nothing was too much. The manager even came himself to meet us at the bus stop on our arrival (we caught a bus form the airport- no.19- don't bother with taxis!) and walked us back to the Raid, we would not have found it on our own! We arrived late at night when many of the streets around the Souks (markets) are closed and only large streets are named.

It is just far enough from the bustling Souks that when you are inside the Riad, (Riad meaning large house) you are in your own relaxing haven. It is definitely better to stay at a Riad for the traditional experience as opposed to a hotel.

Beautifully decorated and very clean, Riad Ajmal has all you need for pure relaxation and luxury after long walks around town in the hot sun. It is also very secure, the rooms have a safe.

The terrace is nicely shaded in places, with lots of comfy sofas and great views. There are only 5 rooms, so plenty of space if all guests were there at the same time (however this was never the case for us, we had the whole floor to our-selves for most of the trip). In the evenings, after we had been out for dinner and enjoyed the festivities in the square, we sat up on the terrace with a bottle of wine that we bought from Riad Ajmal- they have a good selection of white, rose and red. The red was a very nice full bodied and fruity Moroccan wine.

It is worth noting that the pool is more of an ornamental pool...we used it to cool our feet when we had been out walking. Up on the terrace, there is a shower room.

The food is delicious and generous portions. Breakfast was a very nice selection of traditional breads, yoghurt, freshly squeezed orange juice, tea, coffee, and homemade pancake. There were also jams and a marmalade made from the oranges growing in the trees in the courtyard! On arrival we were also welcomed with a traditional Moroccan tea (made with real green tea and mint leaves, with some sugar).

Would definitely recommend eating lunch or dinner at the Raid Ajmal. We asked for this a day in advance for lunch and had a choice of anything we wanted! In the end, one of the ladies prepared a delicious Moroccan meal- beef with vegetables and couscous followed by fruit salad. on our last day for lunch. It was the best meal of our whole trip!

Wonderful escape from the English winter

We had a wonderful Easter weekend at Riad Ajmal. Mustapha and his team could not have been more helpful. The calm, tranquil atmosphere of the riad is delightful.

The only downside is that we got blisters on our feet from all of the walking, but I guess that was our decision and nothing to do with the Riad.

I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is going to Marrakech

This is a lovely riad, staffed by friendly people. The atmosphere is relaxed and you feel you can make yourself at home. The owner, [...] and her staff, [...] and [...] were always helpful, smiling and nothing was too much trouble.Air-conditioning in the rooms was a must for us, travelling in August, and the small pool was great to cool down. The riad is quiet and as there are only 5 or 6 rooms, never too crowded. Great roof terrace, comfortable sunbeds and a delicious breakfast. A lovely place to stay and I would do so again.

We have visited Riad Ajmal in december 2019 and we had a great experience. The service and employees are excellent. So kind and helpful. Our host, Nouredinne, was 24/7 available and arranged everything we needed.

During our taxi drive from the airport to the riad, we find the city overwhelming and almost a little bit scary. So hectic. But trust me, this is only in first sight. Our host picked us up at the taxi drop off and guided us to the streets to the riad.

Leider wurde während unseres Aufenthalts auf der Dachterrasse gebaut, so dass diese nur eingeschränkt zu nutzen war. Man hätte darauf bei der Buchung hinweisen müssen.
Das Personal war aber sehr bemüht und hilfsbereit.

L'établissement est très joli et bien entretenu. Il est légèrement excentré mais les grands sites restent largement accessibles à pieds.
Le personnel est vraiment génial, ils sont souriants et serviables et très attentifs à votre moindre demande (passez par eux pour toutes réservation (taxi, activités...) car ils négocieront bien mieux que vous ;) )
Enfin, nous avons trouvé la literie un peu dur, mais cela reste une question de goût.
Nous y retournerons sans la moindre hésitation et avec plaisir.

4 nuits passées dans cet agréable riad ! Il est bien placé, à deux pas de place Djemaa El Fna et dispose de tous les équipements nécessaires. Il a beaucoup de charme, le personnel et le propriétaire sont sympathiques et à votre écoute. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et permet de découvrir des spécialités. Un petit bémol durant ces 4 nuits, un peu d'humidité dans la salle de bain de notre chambre mais des travaux sont en cours de réalisation. C'était parfait, continuez ainsi :)

Es una casa acondicionada para hotel. Tiene detalles muy bonitos en la decoración y el personal que atiende es muy amable y ayuda a resolver cualquier duda o actividad que desea uno realizar. La comida es estupenda (hay que reservar). Está ubicado dentro de la ciudad por lo qué hay muchos callejones.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour de 10 jours au riad Ajmal qui donne un acces facile à pieds à la place jamaa el fna. Le riad est beau et notre chambre (LABIBA) était spacieuse et propre comme le riad en totalité. Les chambres sont faites tous les jours comme dans un hotel. Le petit déjeuner est copieux avec jus d'orange frais et thé à la menthe ou café, pain, fromage, yaourt, miel, confiture et beurre.
Nous recommandons ce riad.

We had booked this place for four nights a month in advance but when we showed up we were informed that the place was fully booked and that they would move us to an \"even better\" riad, which we then had to flee in the middle of the night because the place was so full of mould that we started having breathing problems.

Le gérant était d'une gentillesse incroyable, le personnel toujours à notre disposition. Le petit déjeuner était Top, il y avait tout ce qu'il fallait pour commencer une Belle journée. Le parfum Du riad Que nous sentions des Que nous mettions les pieds à l'intérieur était très doux. Le calme, le respect de l'intimité d'autrui, La bonne humeur, le bon accueil.... Riad midden in de Medina perfecte lokatie. Heerlijk dakterras en laat je verwennen in de Hamam van de Riad. Kamers prima en goed ontbijt. Mustapha de gastheer was zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Aanrader!

+Best room maid ever! Same girl makes your room, breakfast and dinner. And the dinner is nothing but excellent. Best harira-soup of our trip :)
+Also the manager is very friendly and helped us with our day trips and other things. Arranged reasonably priced airport taxi to and from airport.
+The location is perfect. We walked everywhere (exept the airport and atlas-mountains...). No need for taxis.
-Swimming pool is just 2x2m in the lobby
-No alcohol serving anymore :(

wunderschönes Riad, gut und zentral gelegen, sehr freundliche Bedienung, sehr leckeres und reichhaltiges Frühstück, jedoch liess das WiFi ein bisschen zu wünschen übrig (im Zimmer Amir). Zimmer Amir ist zudem relativ dunkel, verfügt nur über ein kleines Fenster.

Die Lage ist optimal für Besichtigungen in der Alt- und Neustadt. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und jeden Tag etwas anders. Das Abendessen war lecker.

De bedste anbefalinger til Riad Ajmal

Vi kan kun anbefale Riad Ajmal. Stedet er hyggeligt indrettet med den lille gårdhave, hvor der vokser appelsintræer. Der er forbavsende roligt, selvom det ligger i medinaen, og det var skønt at sidde på tagterrassen efter hektiske gåture i medinaen. Værten og de ansatte var rigtig søde og hjælpsomme. Vi følte os hjemme og forkælede.

Fantastische gezinsvakantie

Het was super leuk. Een heel mooie stad waarvan het volk heel barmhartig en behulpzaam is... Dit geldt natuurlijk ook voor het personeel van het hotel. Alles was tip top in orde. Er hing een heel gezellig sfeertje in het hotel. Moest k ooit de kans krijgen om nog eens terug te gaan zou ik dat zeker doen.
