Very nice room, Great staff, Very good Breakfast! Will stay there again when I come into town to Visit Mother.
Rick
The room was clean. Had a problem with the TV, and the employee at front desk came to the room immediately and corrected the problem. We would stay here again.
Amy
Pool area needed some attention. Wonderful staff, great spacious room, nice breakfast, good location. Everything you needed.
Connie
The owner was very pleasant and it was important to her that I had a good stay. Will certainly return for future stays!
Graciela
This is our go to hotel when we travel to Iowa. The rooms are always clean, the breakfast is great! And the staff is amazing!
Nicholas
Worth the value, has a great continental breakfast.
kayla
We enjoyed our stay while we were in the town for a night. The coffee in the lobby was pretty good in the breakfast bar. Lots of places to walk near by with our dog.
Don
Breakfast was hit & delicious
Debbie
Aging hotel. Staff was super nice and helpful. The bedding was ok. Good value for the price. Good breakfast.
Joyce
When we checked in, we could not understand the desk manager as to where he was directing us, & he gave us the room EXACTLY above the lobby & common area. (I made this reservation weeks ago, so this cannot have been the ONLY room that was available when we checked in that afternoon!) Needless to say, we got very little sleep with the \"party\" continuing to go on & on in that same common area/lobby until the early morning hours! That was absolutely ridiculous; they should have put them in a conference room or even the pool area so that people could sleep! We had the TV so loud to try to drown out their noise, but that didn't seem to help much.
The breakfast was disgusting. Choices were very limited, or the hot choices were cold & had no flavor. AND these same loud people were ALL OVER the lobby area for breakfast taking up all of the seats, chairs, tables so the rest of the patrons had no place to sit. Even after we found a corner in which to try a few things at breakfast & drink some juice and checked out of this horrible place to stay, these rude people were all STILL there being extremely obnoxious. I would not ever recommend this establishment to anyone. Get some staff who speak English with a backbone to \"shut up\" patrons who are that rude at a place that is for travelers - these people should have been sent to a bar instead where they could have been as loud as they wanted without disturbing all the other guests. Don't stay here!!!

Not a great area of town. Recommendations should have been for the best western or a hotel in a nicer part of town.
Louise
Clean room staff was helpful and breakfast was hot
Titus
The room was definitely clean, and the staff was very receptive, welcoming, and helpful. The price was unbeatable too. Very well done.

Jennifer
Hotel was clean, staff friendly, room was clean. We had a nice quiet stay. I would recommend staying here.
David
Bath tub plugged and dirty. Toilet seat sliding everywhere. Very loose. No towels in the swimming pool area. Key card keeps de-magnetizing. Had to reset it every time I go out of the room
Patricia
The staff was friendly at check in. The breakfast was good with lots of options. Our room was clean and comfortable.
Janice
The staff was great!
Anthony

Charmin

Everything…great!
Sarah
This property is not only clean, it is well maintained. The staff is very friendly, and the beds were extremely comfortable. And they have an elevator, which is heavenly for business travelers like me who have to travel heavy. I've had over 50 hotel stays this year, and this was one of the best. A great value!
Jill
I always stay at this hotel when traveling to Ottumwa/ Wapello County, Iowa, for work. Such friendly staff and always willing to go the extra mile! Great little place in a great little town--and near the best Mexican restaurant ever, as well (Tequila Grill). Yay!
Tamara
We couldn’t get our TV to work when we arrived to our room. After many tries, we called the front desk. The front desk woman came to our room and tried to figure it out to no avail. She said she was going to send her manager to the room, he came into our room and complained about his “stupid staff,” hit something on a remote, tossed it at me, then left the room, now complains about “his staff are idiots.” The front desk lady may not have figured out the television, but she was kind and friendly. I feel bad that she has to work for that ogre of a man.
Roger
I was checked into a room that hadn't ben cleaned. Once the room was changed, there was no shampoo nor tissues in the room
Deb
We stayed one night at this hotel and although our room was clean and beds where comfy, the desk light was flashing and didn’t work, the mini fridge was full of ice and the door wouldn’t close properly, the outlets where loose and the TV didn’t have any weather or news, just a few Radom channels. In the evening my husband went down to grab me a coffee and it was cold, don’t know how long it had been sitting. The toilet seat was very loose. Water pressure was good. At breakfast, napkins were missing and when I made a waffle the blueberry topping jar was empty. Overall I would not stay here again.
Todd
Location and exterior of the building lack some attractiveness but the bed and room were acceptable.
DEWEY
Convenient parking in front of building. Desk clerk was helpful at check in and check out.
Jill
I always stay at AmericInn when I travel to Ottumwa for work. Perfect!!
Sarah
The manager was very friendly and helpful.
Danny
Nice foyer and pleasant front desk person.
Leticia
I loved this property and I will stay again. It is runned by a wonderful family that makes you feel very welcome. Like a guest in their home.
Laurie
Stayed at another hotel in town, AmericInn is incredibly nicer than thatone!
Liliia
Would be better if breakfast was edible
I don’t know where you buy scrambled eggs and sausages but they are horrible. Even my cats didn’t want to eat sausage I brought. And those eggs felt like they were made out of plastic or silicone, no egg flavor at all. Please don’t feed people that nasty stuff. But in overall our stay was good. I used swimming pool and hot tub. Good location, not far from Bridge View Center.
Tammy
Very friendly and family oriented.
Laura
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would stay again
Rick
Very clean, spacious room located downtown
Mary Linda
Our stay was excellent! The desk manager was very helpful and even helped carry our luggage to the room!
Tim
Clean and centrally located. Pool was closed during our visit.
Debbie
It is very convenient to the places we wanted to go downtown and we could walk to them.
Brian
Overall it was a good hotel for the price.
Ronald
Friendly staff. Easy parking. Very good breakfast.
TV did not work due to problem at hotel.

We had a weird stay here. The guy at the front desk seemed friendly enough at check in and we headed down to our room (room #1). We found that the wall mounted hair dryer was missing so I went back to the desk to see about getting one. The man said he forgot that the room was missing a hair dryer and decided to give us a different room down the hall. No problem, we grabbed our stuff and went to the new room (room #2). As soon as we opened the door, a woman screamed, as this room was already occupied! 😱 Back to the front desk and the man was flustured and \"not sure why the rooms were messed up in his computer\". He asked if we would be ok in a single room instead so we offered to go somewhere else for the night if he didn't have space. This made him only more flustered and insisted that we stay. He \"upgraded us to a suite\" (room #3). This room was slightly larger but maybe the only thing that made it a \"suite\" was the weird old recliner in the corner.
Besides that adventure, the photos on here do not represent the current conditions of this hotel. The beds seemed clean enough but the rooms are run down and in need of repairs. If in weren't for the already occupied room, I probably would not have complained too much for the price.

When I checked in they gave me a room key and sent me to a room that was already occupied. I walked in on someone else.
After that traumatic experience I went all the way back downstairs with all of my bags.
Then without apology they sent me to another room. That room reeked of cigarette smoke even though it’s supposed to be non smoking. So back downstairs I have to go, carrying all my bags again.
Then again without apology they sent me to a room where half the things were broken and it only smelled mildly of smoke (they had left the window open to reduce the smell). It was 10pm and I had no where else to go so I stayed in that third room
I immediately requested to cancel the 2nd nights stay, but they said I had to talk to hotels.com. I spent an hour talking to hotels.com who insisted that there’s nothing they could do and that the hotel itself needs to approve the cancellation. The hotel owner continued to insist that they couldn’t cancel and only hotels.com could cancel it. I spent an hour trying to figure it out that night until past 11pm. Then I had to spend another hour the next morning (waking up at 6am). This is all while I’m supposed to be getting ready for a business conference and have other work to do.
There’s more to this horrible story but the end result is that i had to pay for two nights even though i only stayed one. Turns out hotel manager was lying the whole time and could have easily refunded it. Just greed.

Stayed with the family for a weekend. It’s clean enough, friendly staff, kids liked the pool, decent breakfast. You get exactly what you pay for and I appreciate that.
Todd
Key fob repeatedly did not work. Waited 5+ minutes every time we tried to go into our room. Very annoying. Will not be back
Alicia
As adults, we would have loved to enjoy the hot tub, but it was full of kids! Also, we were not able to use our room toilet as it was clogged, and nobody came to our room, after making a request at the front desk.
Jason
Hotel is gradually aging and going downhill, but no more so than all of the other hotels in Ottumwa.
Arlene
Clean, comfortable. Friendly staff.
Very comfortable bed. Clean room. Very friendly staff..
Chris
Stayed in a suite. Had a jet tub. Seemed very clean. NO BEDBUGS. Second time I’ve stayed and will most likely continue to in the future
Carrie
We stayed 3 nights family of 4.The front desk staff were amazing! They made sure we had everything we needed and were so sweet to our kids. You can tell that they work really hard to keep the hotel in top shape and visitors happy. The property was clean and the pool and hot tub were very nice.
Carol
The front desk people were awesome. They were there to serve you. They were very family friendly. The breakfast was friendly that was always there. Somebody cleaning any kind of messes whatever you ask for they tried to help you with and they all had a smiling face great place. We will stay there again.
joan
Staff was very nice upon checking in.

First room had no vanity light, got moved. Whole place was dirty, unkept and pool and hot tub dirty and did not work.
Heidi
Enjoyed our stay
Check in was fast and friendly. Nice hotel
Claire
When I checked in the staff member at the desk was not very friendly. She asked if I just had one night booked but I said I have two. She didn’t really talk much during the process either. When I went down for breakfast with my husband lots of items were not stocked. Also they were doing some renovations on the first floor so things were kind of a mess.

Customer service/ hospitality

Most furniture is brand new. No carpet in the hallway. Looks like it is being replaced

Below average stay
It was just a normal below average hotel stay. Was unknown til arrival that hotel was undergoing renovations. Flooring torn up and horrible renovation smells. Breakfast was beyond subpar. Powdered eggs and everything else was either low stock or out including the coffee. When asked about it hotel staff was more concerned about greeting, what appeared to be family members, that was just waking up for the for the day. Hotel staff unfriendly. I doubt we will stay there again.
Fred
I know they had some bad luck with the sprinkler system that caused a lot of damage to the hallways, but our room was nice.
grace
great place to stay. been there 3 times and its always so clean
Thomas
Staff was rude and lack of house keeping.
Thomas
This place was dirty as well as staff that do not speak english.

Trip to Iowa
It was a goos stay, the staff is very friendly!
Michele
Very easy to locate and park right at the hotel. Check in was easy and accommodating. I can't say much around the area as we got here after dark.

Clean, comfortable, good for the price
Clean, affordable, comfortable motel right in the middle of town. Kind and helpful staff. Rooms a bit worn but kept tidy. Fine for a night or two
Ramona
Best hotel experience EVER! Owners are obviously experienced in hospitality and live on the property to ensure the safety and comfort of each guest. Chatting over her special tea was an added bonus. Thanks, Sunny!

Don't ever book a whirlpool room here!
Since the last time I stayed here, the hotel appears to have changed their television service and they now have ROKU TV. No instructions were provided anywhere in the room or the guest information booklet, to offer suggestions on optimal operation. So, in addition to having to do a lot of work to try to make it function at all, the entire time I was trying to watch anything at all, including regular TV, the channels were exceptionally hard to find and the TV was buffering every 3-4 minutes all night long, which was highly unsatisfactory. I had a whirlpool in my room, no instructions for operation were provided for those who might need them. You have to get out and reset every 12-15 minutes, none of the jets put out much power at all, and it was definitely not worth the extra money for that type of room. The hotel and room were clean. The mattress was comfortable, but bed was made in a manner that it was impossible to pull up the sheets and bedspread far enough to fully cover up and be comfortable.

Over the top service
The site manager/owner was so kind, so polite and so helpful. Was there to help with any question we had. He appreciated our business and made sure we knew it. So refreshing. Hotel room was comfy and clean, as expected…but the service was over the top!!!
Lindsey
Very good experience overall

The property manager at the time of our check-in, Sayak, was superb. He was most helpful with sorting out an issue with one of the rooms and had excellent recommendations for dining in the area.
Sandra
Very nice

We stayed here last year and it was a great stay, but this year after all of the remodeling it was absolutely fantastic! Such a great place for a great price. Pool was clean. Rooms were spacious and clean. Will definitely stay again.
Tim
Wish they would of tidy up my room and give me soap every day.
Pedro
The hotel is in an off area, kind of desolate at night. With some decent options for a meal and drinks. The bedrooms were nothing special, but they were clean.
WILLIAM
In room coffee maker did not work- lobby coffee col
John
It was ok for the price

This has always been our go-to hotel when we stay in Ottumwa. It’s usually clean and well maintained with a decent breakfast selection
This trip was a little bit different. We were given a handicapped accessible room which was a surprise and that would have been ok but the shower grout had mold/mildew in the lower half.
Also the toilet had some kind of wooden lid on it that was covered in black mold on the bottom side. We opened it because the mold in the shower couldn’t account for the strong smell after a couple of days.
Also, the card lock entry side entrance, which was the closest to our room, only worked the first day or so. They said it was just “resetting” itself and it should work but it never did again.
We didn’t get our towels replaced even when we didn’t have the “do not disturb” on the door. Good thing we weren’t there long enough to take a lot of showers!
I think this property it not being maintained as well as it was for the last 20 years or so. Sad to see.

No ironing board even though there was an iron. Exercise room had no towels, wipes or water.
Todd
Breakfast wasn’t properly maintained, so most of the food and coffee were gone before 7:00 am.
Douglas
Good clean rooms

Liars!!!
We had a medical emergency in Ottumwa and had to make our plans on the go. Used expedia to make 2 night reservations. Halfway to Ottumwa we got a call that our sister needed to be airlifted to Iowa City UI hospital for emergency surgery. Called h Americinn direct and explained our change of hospitals and was told by night desk person that his boss would take care of the cancelation. Now one week later with the charges now on my credit card when I call the hotel they deny ever getting a call and tell me I would've needed to call Expedia to cancel. Don't ever plan on staying here again. Don't like being lied to.
Kimberly
Amazing hotel all staff was wonderful
Pablo
Very clean
Luke
Great service. Very friendly.
Elizabeth
Very clean and refurbished. Television didn't sync up with their provider service (older TVs) and had to have help from desk to get it to work - told to \"not use the TV guide.\" So, that did work.
Seems there is a fee to use the pool.
The provided breakfast could be better. The biscuits and gravy.....not too great. Good toast, coffee....did not try the make-your-own waffle. Juices were watered down or concentrate ran out.
Staff was really great. Overall a good stay.
