Peaceful Stay at Nautilus

We loved our stay at Nautilus. It was a perfect location close to plenty of restaurants and shops. It was a short walk to amazing sunsets on the beach. The room was perfect for our needs and our 2 day stay in Santa Teresa. The pool was lovely and the environs quiet and well manacured. We would definitely stay here again.

The property is unmanaged, the owners have placed international student volunteers to mind their business for exchange of housing.
They are pleasant but that does not replace professional and trained staff. At the end of the day, the guest is cheated service. Sad, sad.

This is a really special place. Whether you are staying here, having a meal, or merely stopping by for some yoga, you are bound to see a smiling face and leave feeling better than when you arrived. I was fortunate enough to stay here for a few nights and felt extremely relaxed when I left. The villa was perfect, the meals were delicious, and doing yoga in the treetop level studio rounded out a truly memorable stay. I even got to take part in a delicious vegan, italian pop-up dinner and met some really nice people along the way, none more welcoming than the staff here. This place is great. Thank you for a great stay.

We were suppose to stay here right as the pandemic hit. The property asked if they could keep our money rather than refund and we could reschedule when it was possible. I’ve tried reaching out many different ways with no luck. I understand this was hard on businesses, but some kind of response would be nice. We’d love to go back if possible.

Beautiful hotel away from the main street, my room was big, included living space and kitchen. They have a lovely pool and yoga studio- beach and wonderful restaurants within walking distance. The owner Martin and staff Rami were so helpful with all my questions and set up taxis as well as my snorkeling tour and necessary covid test. They made me feel at home and I really enjoyed my stay!

This Orel is located centrally and easy to get to beach, restaurants, and grocery store. The front desk was never around to answer questions. We went to motel across the street to book tours etc. restaurant was closed. I had to ask for linens. The bed had no bed cover so it was a thin sheet and bed was hard and scratchy. I felt like since it was the slow season( may) they went on their game. I would not stay here again.

I had such a wonderful time at Nautilus. The pictures don't do it justice. When I walked into the hotel, the first thing you see is the lush green plants all the way down the main walk way that lead to the swimming pool (spent a lot of time here to cool off from the heat!!). The property is nice and quiet and the villa was way more spacious than we were expecting. The manager organised some surf lessons for us to make the most of the beach being a few mins walk away. I wish we had more time here. We'll be back.

My wife, 2 year old, and I stayed for six nights. When we arrived, the manager JP told us to use WhatsApp him if we needed anything. The listing on Expedia states, \"the front desk is open daily from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.\" The manager was only on the property for about 2 hours around noon for 4 of the days we were there. The two staff members who do not speak English were on the property about 5 hours a day. The hotel stated, \"personal protective equipment worn by staff.\" The staff and manager never wore protective equipment. Because the manager was never at the hotel, I organized our activities myself. Our hotel room was infested with ants. The manager laugh and did nothing about it. There is bug spray for sell at the local grocery store. Our room had a broken fan, doorknob, lights were not working in every room, the doors were falling off the hedges, the TV remote did not work, and the safe did not work. The manager said he would fix things, but only fix half the things. The room had dead insects in it the whole time we stand there. There was a rusty nail by the pool were our child played. One night we could not get our stroller in the property because it was blocked by cars and ATVs. The property gate was not lock at night, so anyone could come in without staff members there to watch. The manager and staff became rude and ignored us as we reported the issues we experienced. I emailed the owner, but he ignored us. Expedia contacted the owner, but he would not refund us.

Why NO REFUND FROM HOTELS.COM???

Actually, previously I had posted a comment complaining about not getting my refund due to a cancelation for this week due to the pandemic. Turns out, Hotels.com is keeping my money, according to the Nautilus- which seems like a great place, but since the wedding of my daughter got canceled, we obviously are not traveling since the country is closed. I will say I had TWO different reservations for other family members that the Nautilius DID REFUND.

Here is what the hotel said:
\"\"You didn't stay with us so the review is a hoax. We don't hold you funds, you booked through Expedia, they have your funds, hence the reason we recommend booking direct. This way Expedia doesn't get to exploit the hotel whilst they retain the guests money.....\"

SO.... My Question to Hotels.com,
WHERE IS MY REFUND???

The property is close to the beach and several restaurants. There is a kitchen so it is possible to make some of your own meals. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The bed was comfortable. Yoga classes are available on site and guests get a bit of a discount.

The staff were super helpful and accommodating, and they stay was lovely overall. Had a great surf lesson arranged with Juan, who’s been surfing there for 15 years. The food was delicious, and had lots of nice options for those in our party who are celiac and/or try to eat plant based (my partner and I stayed there, but had some friends in town).. Not a party place by any means, but that worked for our trip. The yoga space was lovely, and classes were great for the most part, but we decided to take it easier than expected due to the heat (some classes were great for all levels, others might be better suited to more experienced yogis)

Oasis in Santa Teresa!

Amazing hospitality! This is such a beautiful property in an ideally situated location, just a 2 min walk from the main street but on a side street so quiet and easy to sleep. The rooms are large & spacious, the pool is lovely, the daily yoga was so enjoyable and the food at Olam (onsite restaurant) is delicious + healthy (especially all the smoothies!) The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us with anything we needed help booking and always with a smile. We will be back!

Beautiful and spacious

This hotel went above and beyond my expectations! It was so spacious with a separate bedroom, living room and kitchen area. The outdoor patio area was lovely as well. The hotel was beautifuly decorated and the beds were comfortable. I would highly recommend staying here!

The facility and room were nice. The room is more like a one bedroom apartment with a private porch on the front. I enjoyed our single evening. Unfortunately In the morning there was no water and no one around to see if this was room or facility issue. Despite this I would still recommend staying as there can be uncontrollable situations.

Not a Good Experience for Us

I’m torn on how to rate this hotel. The positives were that the staff was very nice and the apartment we stayed in (number 1) was kept very clean by housekeeping. Also, I heard a few guests complain about the bugs, but I cannot fault the hotel staff. We are in the middle of the jungle! However, we had several problems while staying. First, the shower did not work at all. We alerted the staff who stated this was normal for Santa Teresa due to water pressure. However, we were in for a wedding and spoke to at least 6 different groups of friends who were staying within 500-700 meters of our hotel location and stated they had no problem with water pressure (we even took video to show the poor pressure), so we had to shower at our friend’s hotel. Also, the WIFI did not work in our apartment. We had to go outside to use the WIFI. Also, the pool was not in service due to maintenance issues for one of the days we tried to use it. The other two days it was quite dirty with debris, I’m guessing it was related to the pool maintenance issue. This hotel has a lot of wonderful ratings, so I’m guessing it just happened to be poor for our personal experience. For the price we paid, and what we received, I would not come back again.

Zen by the Beach

A wonderful and straightforward hassle free place to stay and enjoy the Costa Rican coast.....The food at Olam is wholesome and healthy and the breakfast sets you up for the day. We did stand up paddle boarding, never done it before, or surfed, I will certainly do it again, good workout, my core got a beasting.... Accommodation is spacious, well equipped, clean and comfy. The yoga deck is up in the trees, well kitted out and the instructors are wonderful, informative and patient. especially the less flexible like me.
Guest service from the staff couldn't be better, attention to every detail, advice and information, a happy and well organised team.
Highly recommended....

Beautiful hotel, amazing staff all willing to help with activities and excursions , know everything in the area. Olam is a vegan vegetarian restaurant serving the best Shakshuka . The villa is set within the jungle .listening to the wildlife on the yoga deck whilst having a massage and yoga.

Nice hotel off the main road?

Close to the beach with beautiful rooms. The organic vegan food was a real plus here. The only negative is the kitchens in your rooms are not well equipped and the stove takes at least 20 minutes to even boil water so not good if you are trying to cook! Yoga upstairs was refreshing and the staff were very helpful.

Perfect getaway!

I highly recommend Nautilus. The smoothies are delicious, the staff is kind and helpful, the yoga is wonderful, and there is a real sense of community at the hotel. I would return in a heartbeat! I loved the yoga jungle deck and variety of classes offered. It was my first time traveling alone and I really appreciated the friendliness of the staff and their interest in helping me to best experience Santa Teresa!

Relaxing and Detoxifying

Our trip to Santa Teresa was all about unwinding from work. This was the perfect place for that. The town is so incredibly chill - this hotel included. Outside of the bugs and birds at night our stay was extremely peaceful. The room was clean and every staff member was incredibly helpful. If you want the full zen experience, take advantage of the daily yoga and smoothie bar.

The proximity to the beach was great.

This was one of my favourite vacations. All of the hotel staff and management couldn't have been nicer. While I
was there I had the opportunity to purchase a property, I cannot thank everyone enough for all the support they
provided. I waited to post this recommendation as I wanted the house to close to let you all know it happened. It did
close but later than planned, so I hope to be back in CR soon. I was also sick again - more sensitivities but much better now. I felt like a new person during my stay at the Nautilus, I am sure the healthy lifestyle was a contributing factor and of course, the Pacific, one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. I enjoyed Santa Teresa as well, we became acquainted with many of the locals and I look forward to seeing them again. My son thoroughly enjoyed
his time at the Nautilus and was able to practice his Spanish with everyone who would listen and has become very proficient. He will be my translator when we return. We'll be back for a smoothie before you know it!!!

Stayed here for just under a week. Santa Teresa was my fav stop in Costa Rica. A bit of a walk to Mal pais beach so I rented an ATV for $40 a day. Nice hotel, lots of yoga, healthy restaurant attached to the hotel. An FYI, basically the entire town of Santa Teresa only expects cash and there are only 2 ATM's on the other side of town. Tucked away from the busy road, pool was laid back no one was really ever there.

This is a very pleasant hotel with large apartments and a great vegetarian restaurant. The beaches in Santa Teresa are very pretty. Unfortunately the town itself detracts from the experience significantly. There is one main road around which is organized all the stores and restaurants. Because the road is long and services spread out, people rent very loud motorcycles and off road vehicles to get around, so much so that the noise factor gets very unpleasant. Further, there is garbage lining this main causeway where everyone is eating and moving around. Smells of sewage waft across the area as well. Also keep in mind that if you are a traveller over the age of 30, you might find this place full of hostels and surfers to be a bit too much of backpacker haven for your tastes. It's also so overpriced that you have to wonder why on earth they can't manage to clean up the garbage and sewage at the very least. For all these reasons I do not recommend Santa Teresa.

Nice boutique hotel, yoga twice a day, food is really good and healthy, small pool, short walk to the Main Street and brach! The staff were really great and the Quailty of the yoga really good! It's a little bit isolated to walk by yourself at night, room was very nice although the couch & bed not the most comfortable, not a huge deal when you're out all day and still got a good sleep.
