Perfect for an overnight or two in Malaga

We’ve been asked a few times where we stayed for our recent overnight in Malaga when we went to the Drive In. We stayed at the SoHo Boutiques Los Naranjos hotel which was about a 15 minute drive from the Drive In and is around a 20 minute walk into Malaga centre. It’s a mid range hotel which although a little dated was perfectly adequate for our stay.
Clean, comfortable and soundproofed rooms with all the usual amenities. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Room rate was €75 and underground parking €12.50. Word of warning the access to the parking is tight and it was tricky to park and we only have a small car.
We would happily recommend this hotel and would stay there again. 😊

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel and we liked much . Clean and nice rooms. Great service and staff . Need a little upgrade and more maybe technology but in general everything were great . Parking available on the site but need small cars as space not wide enough , we been informed in advance as well- thanks to the staff. Around is nice and many shopping and restaurants, sea across the street , supermarket.Thank you and hopefully one day will be back .

The hotel is attractive, tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The position is great for getting around Malaga - only a few minutes walk to the beach and promenade and there is a very regular bus service right outside the hotel. The breakfast was satisfactory but not great and if I come again I would prefer to eat at at one of the nice small restaurants opposite the hotel.

Balcony Issues !!

Booked a birthday weekend , chose this hotel for the balcony .
Surly staff on reception , hotel full so couldn’t change rooms .
On two sides of balcony , dirty flaking walls about a foot away , facing front was a fire escape , felt like a prison cell .
Had it not been a 3 night stay would have changed hotels .
Beware of booking this hotel if paying for a “balcony”.

Stayed a few nights at Los Naranjos. Overall, a decent hotel that could do better. Everything seemed to be almost good - except front desk staff, they did a great job.

The \"almost good\" impression started already at check-in. I arrived at about 30 minutes after the time check-in should be available and, while check-in itself was easy and quick, I had to wait about an hour before a room was available - and I wasn't the only one to wait! Not a good start.

The room I got was okay, a bit of a weird shape and some things (like the corners) did look like they should get a visit from a friendly maintenance crew. The aircondition was odd and seemed to work less when you asked it to do more and when I returned to the room, after a day out, the air felt very damp. The mechanical blinds in front of the window didn't work either, stuck on half-way up.

Finally, the key for the room... I don't know if this is to make people leave the key at reception when they go out but that key-ring was horribly big. It also has the hotel name and room number on it so don't loose it when out!

It's not all negative, the bed was comfortable, the sofa was too. The bathroom was nice and the shower had good water pressure and temperature. Reception was nice and friendly and the taxi I ordered arrived on time.

Last, but not least, if you come to Malaga for the city center, this is not the hotel for you, it's too far. If you come for the beach, perfect location!

Over the previous days we had stayed in 3*& 4* hotels, the latter right opposite the Alhambra Palace in Granada (2mins walk) both these stays were much better & better value for money. Our bedroom was more suited to single occupancy one person had to climb over the bed to get in it, without measuring it, I believe the bed was only 1350mm wide, the room was small, the en-suite no better, although it did have a bath with shower over. The bathroom door missed the WC by 15mm when opening. The breakfast room/s were also small,on the 1st morning, no problems, the 2nd, numerous items on the buffet breakfast were unavailable, extra staff to replenish would have been good. The breakfast was good.WiFi was OK.We had a small balcony, with a table, but only one chair, the outside light didn't work, it would have been nice for both of us to sit out on the warm evening & relax with a book after a busy day.

\"Boutique hotel\"...well so it claims to be - there are several around town of the same brand (Soho)but this was the best value and with a pretty good location a block away from the beach and a 15 minute walk to the lovely public botanical gardens where you can get a bus to the airport.Nice hotel with a balcony facing west and a good view (5th floor).Checked in 1am and it was no problem.The Room is done up in a vaguely 'boutique' style , tasteful and clean with a small but satisfactory shower room adjacent.Staff were friendly and there were a couple of cafes/restaurant opposite..and a small supermarket nearby..No idea about breakie etc (as didnt have) but there was a simple in room pod espresso machine(Delta brand).For the price paid the hotel was a bargain and would def come back.

A wonderful place to unwind any time of year

I took a post_Christmas break in Malaga and returned to Las Narjanas. On entering the man at reception was very efficient and even recalled my being there before. Maria-Jose on afternoons was extremely helpful with everything from directions , transport and closings since Epiphany is a big celebration. The breakfast buffet in all one could hope . The selection is varied and ample as well as being well presented. No serving plate is left empty. This hotel, close to citgy centre, is a perfect place.for short or long stay,

It is close to the Roman theatre, the Moorish citadel fortress. This is Picasso's birthplace so his home is open. There is a wonderful city museum that traces Malaga from Phoenician time forward. A tour of the Baroque cathedral is worthwhile.

I had to go to Malaga urgently as my father had been taken seriously ill on his holiday and I chose this hotel as it was a few minutes walk from the hospital. I spent very little time there understandably but the check in/out was super quick, very friendly with all that I spoke to speaking very good English, which helped when trying to locate the hospital. The room was lovely and clean, bed comfortable, only gripe would be for softer pillows but it was just what I needed in an emergency and I’ve booked my mother in for a few days time for a shower and a nights rest in a bed instead of a chair by my dads side

Large supermarket about 5 minutes away, turn right out of hotel.

I really enjoyed having a balcony for my room, and the cleanliness was great. The air-conditioning worked well. The hotel staff were helpful and efficient. The breakfast buffet offered variety and was well stocked/replenished. While not \"on\" the beach, it is literally two minutes away. It is also about a 15-20 minute walk to the old town and attractions, so it is very convenient. There are a few restaurants directly across the street and a large grocery a bit further down, so there are options if you don't want to wander far from the hotel/beach.

Unfortunately the bed was just not comfortable. It was almost like sleeping on a boxspring. The shower stall did not have a way to hook the shower wand to the wall, so trying to wash my hair/shower meant juggling the hand-held wand with the soap and shampoo or setting it on the bottom of the stall.

Close to the beach, some nice restaurants nearby and a short safe walk into town centre.
Rooms on the small side and would ask for a sun facing balcony as one side of the building gets no sun.

Great Option For Many Reasons

Ended up really liking this hotel. I stayed there for a week and thought for the price I paid and the location of the hotel I got a deal. Staff always said hello and answered my touristy questions. Room size average for Europe but had a mini-fridge and balcony with table and chairs which I used to relax outside and have a snack. A little over a mile walk to central Malaga or a 7 minute bus ride with the stop right outside of the hotel.

I usually end a stay in Andalucia with a visit to Malaga prior to flying home.
The Naranjos was a reasonable price and in an area that I like in malaga, close to city , beach, the Parador and all easily walkable.

great small hotel in a nice neighbourhoud

a small boutique hotel located in a nice upscale and quite neighbourhoud with all amenities close by and 1 block from the beach. Rooms are really small with \"Parisian feel\" to them. But the staff freindliness and the coziness of the establishment itself compensates well for the room size. The only problem I have encountered is a very unreliable wi-fi connection. Otherwise is a great place to stay and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

I stayed at the hotel three months ago and when I walked in this time the desk person addressed me by name. The hotel was busy and it was late, yet when I requested a room change to a higher floor I was accommodated immediately. As usual the staff was friendly and very efficient. The breakfast buffet was more than filling and of good quality. All in all a very good stay.

From the moment I arrived the was welcoming and very helpful. They helped locating bus and ferry times from Malaga-Algeciras-Tarifa fro my departure. Quiet, Small hotel near the beach and park

Spent five days in Malaga on conference and relaxing. The hotel was the perfect stop. The staff is extremely helpful and efficient and the rooms are very clean and well maintained. Since it is a small hotel they are more \"efficient\" in size than big. Most have balconies which is a plus for me. The continental breakfast is quite good. Many restaurants nearby. It is located across from the beach and a few minutes walk to the long park. Public transit practically at the door. I would DEFINITELY stay again.

The room was ok. Clean, comfortable well maintained. It was on the small side, even for a single room but perfectly adequate for my purposes. I wouldn't bother with the breakfast though. The spread isn't worth the money and tables aren't cleared. You can do a lot better in town. Apparently there are resturant facilities somewhere in front of the hotel. I didn't waste time trying to find it.

A delightful hotel just off the centre of Malaga

I loved the warm and friendly staff in the hotel. The hotel was small enough to give it a family feel, yet it had more facilities than I expected for the price (large single room, great bathroom, roomy wardrobe, even a mini-bar). My balcony overlooked both the mountain and the sea. It is 3 minutes' walk to the beach, 10-15 minutes' walk to the Alcabaza and when I could be bothered, 2 minutes' wait for a bus. I have no problem recommending this hotel. Loved it! Daniele

Ideal for a city break

The hotel was very handy on a bus route ( flat fare 1.30 euros ) just outside the centre of the city. We could walk in to the city in 20 mins the beach was a 5 min walk but the beach was not as good as the ones at home in Jersey. There are plenty of eating places near the hotel, we decided not to have breakfast as the cafes were cheaper. A good base for the art galleries. enjoy your stay we did.

Great Hotel Expect for Parking

The hotel had a great stuff and a great location. The room was very comfortable, but a bit dusty. My only issue was the extremely small parking garage under the building. I have a mid-size four door car that had to be directed in by staff on the way in. On the way out, without direction, it took over 10 minutes to maneuver around and then be scratched badly while exiting the gate. So just don't have a car and the hotel would be great.

The location was great, which is the only positive thing I can report in good conscience. The room was small, hot and filthy. The AC was completely broken; the mini-fridge didn't work; and the carpet was so gross I tried not to walk on it barefoot. We felt totally misled and overcharged.

The hotel room was basic and cleaned on a daily basis. Towels and bed linen were also changed on a daily basis. Reception staff were friendly and helpful but the reception area could do with upgrading. The hotel had no pool but was literally a few minutes walk to the beach. The hotel was a good 30 mins walk to the centre of Malaga but there was public transport right outside the hotel. If you chose to walk you can pass the harbour area which is pleasant and has lots of restaurants.

A Happy Discovery.

I think this hotel is as good as you would get for a three star hotel, with friendly staff, a wide range of buffet breakfast foods (in a charming dining-room), and air- conditioned bedrooms fully furnished and comfortable.

Excellent location, one street back from clean beaches, close to several bar/restaurants, frequent number 11 bus outside hotel to city centre, if you don't fancy the 20 minutes walk, swarms of swallows and other birds in the mornings, an overall nice district.

This was my third visit to Malaga, but this is the nicest area (in my opinion); looking forward to next visit in five months.

Tip: try to keep a few Euro 1.20's handy for buses, so much to see.

A good value with excellent views in Málaga

We had an excellent time at Los Naranjos, although staying here off-season probably had something to do with it. We got an excellent deal, including breakfast (croissants, Andalusian rolls, fruit, yogurt, cereal, coffee, orange juice), as well as a room whose balcony afforded views of the city and the water. I did not notice any street-noise that other reviewers have mentioned. The hotel is a little bit out of town, which was perfect. The walks into the center of town were quite pleasant, and staying out of the way made the trip much more peaceful. In particular, I highly recommend this hotel to runners, as the boardwalk is much less crowded in this area.

Comfortable, well run hotel 15 minutes walk from the historic centre of Malaga. There are regular buses from outside of the hotel and a number of local bars and restuarants. Very handy for the beach and a nice stroll into town via the marina/port. Breakfasts basic but include decent range of pastries and fruit. The staff are very professional and friendly. The rooms at the front have sea views from the balconies but there is some traffic noise as the hotel is located on the main coast road out of the city. Nice rooms, mini bar cheap, good choice of hotel.

Stayed at Los Naranjos in October and we were so satisfied with it that we returned again in November. The staff remembered us and made us feel very welcomed once again. The hotel is very clean and has its own charm. For a 3-Star hotel it is one of the best. Los Naranjos is in a great neighbourhood and we became regulars at several of the restaurants nearby. If you are traveling on a budget, this is an ideal place to stay.

Great hotel, great price! Staff is friendly and helpful. Ideal location away from the busy downtown core but still within walking distance of everything. Only one block from the sea. Would stay here again. Highly recommended.

A happy return.

Have visited three times now, both for business and leisure. Being a smaller hotel it is not crowded or noisy. The staff are very professional and always helpful. It is close the beach and the city centre. 15 mins from airport.

Lovely Hotel

room faced east but still had good view of the sea and coastline. Electric shutters made the room dark and quiet at night and the sunrises were amazing. Loved sitting on my balcony drinking wine from the local supermarket for 3 Euros. Breakfast adequate and could have it in the room if you preferred. Excellent 3* hotel.

Could be better

Hotel was sparse but clean with small rooms and an over priced, packaged type of continental breakfast. Staff was helpful to the extent that they could speak english, which most of the desk staff could do on a very limited basis.

Los Naranjos Malaga -

Good, clean hotel, a short walk from the centre of Malaga and very close to the beach. La Taberna del Fraile opposite had a welcoming host, great atmosphere, and superb tapas. Malaga is a beautiful city, often overlooked by travellers flying into the airport and moving on.

I will be back!

Small friendly hotel, convenient for the beach (2 mins walk), convenient for port/business area (15 mins walk), pleasant 30 min walk to centre of city. Well served by taxis and buses.
Helpful and very friendly staff, without exception.

El hotel está ubicado en un lugar perfecto. Es un hotel muy cómodo. El desayuno es de muy buena calidad

Hôtel bien placé et personnel très agréable! Chambre au rez-de-chaussée qui était un peu trop bruyante (pas d’isolation phonique) mais propre et confortable
