I stayed at Maverick Apartments Budapest recently and had a decent overall experience.
The room itself was okay — not amazing, but not bad either. The building is clearly quite old and historic, which gives it character, but it also explains why the rooms probably aren’t heavily renovated. Because of that, some things felt a bit worn. The washroom had a strong smell, and the toilet flush button was broken during my stay. I assume these issues come with maintaining an older property, though they were still noticeable.
On the positive side, the location is excellent — you’re basically close to everything, which makes exploring the city very convenient. The staff were also friendly and welcoming, which definitely improved the stay.
Overall, it’s a reasonable place if you mainly want a great location and don’t mind a few imperfections in the room.

I stayed at Maverick Apartments for three days, and honestly, I wish I could’ve stayed longer. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, and the location was just perfect. Close enough to everything I needed, but still peaceful enough to truly relax. Every little detail, from the cozy bedding to the spotless kitchen, showed how much care goes into this place. It’s rare to find somewhere that feels both luxurious and homely, but Maverick Apartments nailed it. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This is a hostel which was not stated anywhere when booking. Awful sewage smell from bathroom which made it unbearable to go in the bathroom and if the door was left open the entire apartment smelled. Tiny air conditioning unit makes little to no difference when the bed is upstairs.

Maverick Apartments were excellent value for money, very well equipped (fridge, kettle, microwave, cooker and equipment) and well located, we found that all the main attractions on both sides of the river were within easy walking distance. Staff were very friendly.

A good hostel and hotel in the heart of Budapest. I has an elevator. Some of the rooms are for a hostel, and some are hotel rooms.

Hotel is convenient located in the 5th district near the danube river and the traditonal shopping street. Hotel was very comfortable and the hotel staff were very nice. Make sure to join their whatsapp groups to know more about their daily group activities. Which would be a great way to meet people.

Location of this hotel is excellent. We stayed end of August and it was hot given there wasnt a proper air conditioning unit. The hotel is an old palace which has been renovated inside. Lovely stay.

The building is fantastic even if it could use some touch up. It is in a great section of town if you love seeing great historic buildings.
It was a 'one bedroom' but there was also a loft and a couch that could open out to a bed so the room could hold as many as six people. The room was very large with a full kitchen. We would stay there again.
The only negative thing was that the entry to the building was hard to find and once inside, it was hard to find the reception. But keep searching, it is worth it and try not be distracted by the architecture.

This place is amazing! Very centrally located (just a few steps from the Danube and Vaci utca) and friendly and helpful staff..i booked an apartment, and it was very clean, cozy and comfortable. I stayed was present the day Santa comes to Hungary, and the staff left us mini santa chocolate outside of our doors. It's really in the little details!

I liked that this apartment was very good value for money, and if you had the max of 6 people in it it would be amazing value! I also liked the fact that it had a modern and clean bathroom, lots of instant hot water and a basic clean kitchen. It was warm to the point of being too hot and we couldn’t turn the radiator down so had to open the window! The reception staff were very helpful and polite

The window of this particular apartment looked out onto the windows of an office building which wasn’t a problem but I thought I’d mention it as some reviews talk of the appartment looking into the Danube, obviously not the one we had.
The apartment is in what was once a magnificent elegant building, and is still beautiful but in need of some tlc. It is very shabby for the most part now and the lift is not for the faint hearted as it looks as if it has seen many decades of use
If you are looking for an apartment on a budget that is clean and serviceable and warm then this is for you but in the end you get what you pay for so don’t look for luxuries like a tv!

The Maverick is a great option. It is located within walking distance of just about everything and is priced appropriately. Remember the apartments are part of the hostel and for the price you pay its worth it to fetch your own towels. The apartments are clean and comfortable and full of character. And the folks that work there are friendly and happy to assist with directions.

Great place for the money, friendly staff, excellent location near the Christmas Market. We loved having a refrigerator, stove, microwave, pots, pans, etc. to save food costs. The only negative was uncomfortable mattresses. But overall, highly recommended.

The location is excellent. You can walk to most places. The bedding and the bathroom were very clean but the pots and pans curtains and bean bags were a bit grotty. Beds are really comfortable and wouldnt hesitate to stay here again. The staff are very friendly and 24hour reception. The building itself is absolutly beautiful with so much character.

I booked a studio deluxe apartment for my brother's 30th birthday, my uncle also came along and we had an amazing five nights in Budapest. The hostel gave us a spare bed, were very helpful and polite and answered all of my questions by email. The apartment was clean, tidy, in a beautiful old building and centrally located. Great apartments in a super location. Apartments are clean and well equipped with friendly helpful staff. You couldn’t get much better than the location. Right outside is a metro station and 1 min walk from main shopping street. We stayed for 3 nights, we bought the 72 hour Hop on Hop off red bus ticket which was great, we bought the tickets in reception and it even included boat trip day and night. We also bought our tickets for the Baths in reception, would highly recommend a trip to the baths and include a 20 mins couples massage when you get there, bliss. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We were a bit dubious cos the accommodation was so reasonable but we were no disappointed and very pleasantly surprised. I hope we’ll return to Budapest and I know where we’ll be staying....Maverick Apartments.

The location for the apartment is perfect it’s situated right in the centre of everything! The staff are really helpful and will offer local knowledge and make reservations for you. The only negative about this is if your looking for luxury this is not it however the apartment is clean, fresh, comfortable with everything required. (A better hairdryer would be nice) but if your planning on sightseeing and not spending to much time there it’s perfect 😊

Excellent location of apartments in the center of old town, so you can easily get to many touristic places by walk only. Building was undergoing some reconstruction works during our visit, and is mostly old, even lift is taking a last breath. Staff is friendly and bilingual. They offered us a luggage storage on arrival, and anything in the shared meeting room with kitchen and toilet. The shared meeting room is a little creative in students' style. A studio room is part of a big apartment. The studio room was fairly small but clean. Toiletries, hair dryer and sanitized toilet are a matter of course. Wifi is available too. Shower is half open so watch out for spraying the water outside. Basic kitchen stuff with a stovetop and fridge and microwave are available. A ceiling fan is used instead of air conditioning, and is loud and not very efficient, especially when the bed is located close to the ceiling where you have to climb by steep stairs. Keeping a window open is a solution. No breakfast is available here.

Maverick is on excellent location. Walking distance to all tourist sites. Place was charming, full of caracter and very clean. Beds were comfortable, lots of clean towels incuded. Starbucks, little backery, metro was conveniently close by. Would recommended.

Maverick Apartment evidently has multiple locations. Ask where your specific apartment is before booking. Although the apartment itself was fine, I felt like I was walking into an abandoned building when we entered. My expectations from the website were quite different. The local management was very nice and accommodating. Since we were only there 2 nights, I didn't want to make a switch.

Property is brilliantly located, a great little find at such a reasonable price. However if booking a transfer make sure they drop you off at the correct Maverick accommodation. Our taxi dropped us at the sister hotel which was a 15 minute walk away with our luggage.

Our stay was very nice. We stayed in an apartment which had a small but suprisingly equipped kitchenette. The shower was really good and the bed was comfortable. The location was excellent. The staff seemed really friendly and I think they provide more things than we used, such as excursions, nights out ECT. The only thing that we didn't like was the steps leading up to the bed, they are extremely narrow and the railing you hold onto was wobbly.

First, I want to thank everyone at Maverick Apartments for the very warm hospitality that they have showered onto my wife and I in our recent 3-night stay there.
Absolutely convenient as far as meeting our wants and needs. We arrived by the Metro and it's just on the immediate left after climbing a few flights of stairs. Don't be disappointed by the initial hard-to-access main door (you need to press a certain number on the intercomm and a receptionist will respond and the door will open for you to enter and go to the right to find the reception a few flights of stairs above), as once registered, everything will be easy.
We felt like home staying here even though we did not use the kitchen facilities but they will surely be handy for those who want to cook meals.

We had a little trouble finding the hotel, because it's located in a big, beautiful old building with many other offices/residences in it - but follow signs for Maverick HOSTEL, where check-in is and they will take you to the apartment wing.
The apartment itself was clean with all the basic amenities needed. The staff was friendly and helpful, plus you have access to the services/events offered by the hostel with the privacy of staying in an apartment. It is a 10 minute walk to the Jewish quarter and easy to walk to the center of town. Cabs and public transit are everywhere.

Lovely apartment in a great location. Impressive building with a great view. The only downside is that the 3rd bed / second sofa bed in lounge was just a sofa and not really very big.

Very easy to locate and close to city center for walking. We loved Budapest and would stay with Maverick again. They had an attendant that spoke english on hand most of the day who was helpful and the apartment was as advertised.

The building: ooks plain on the outside, lavishly decorated on the inside. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, with an astonishing view of Buda and the Danube at night. In terms of location, the apartment is situated in the inner city, making all the important attractions at a walkable distance. In addition, very friendly staff at reception! Would come back again.

The apartment needs some upgrade and it doesn't have a dryer so we had to air dry all clothes. The washer needs a replacement too. The clothes didn't dry out after washed. Other than these. The Apartment is very convenient and worthy of money.

My friends and I booked the 2 bedroom apartment. After check in, which took a long time, we looked at the apartment and it was horrible. Half of the beds were missing sheets, the toilet room was so small we banged our knees when the door was closed, and the drain in the bathroom was questionable. Lastly, it was dirty despite the cleaning staff being present when we checked in. No joke - we found what looked like mouse excrement on one of the beds!
Given the heat from lack of AC and the dirty conditions, my friends and I opted to stay elsewhere. I was promised a refund and have not yet received it. One thing important to note: this is part of a hostel and appears misleading in photographs.

This place is huge. It would comfortably sleep two couples. Great view. I couldn't get the washing machine to work, but it is possibly my fault as the instructions were in Hungarian.

We (a couple) lived in a three room appartment in the city center. It was really great expearence.
The staff is friendly and competent. The appartment has all the facilities for a comfortable stay (a refregirator, a washing machine, a stove etc). They also provide tea, coffee, sugar.

The flat is intended for a group of many people (may be two families travelling together) and there is only one toilet.

We stayed in an apartment that was in the main hostel building complex. The location was great, close to public transport as well as walking distance to many attractions, restaurants, supermarkets etc. The apartment was identical to photos provided, and was clean and neat upon arrival. Staff were very helpful and assisted us with all enquiries. Overall, a great budget option whilst in Budapest.

Hostel with complete facilities and good location
The hostel is not difficult to find as once I came out from the metro station, there was a big signboard on a building showing the directions and Maverick Hostel is located stone throw away. No problem with check-in, the staffs are friendly, helpful and have good command of English. The room is exactly the same shown in the photos from the websites, everything is lovely. They even gave us a free bottle of champagne but my family do not take any alcohol so we did not drink it. The kitchen has everything we need, all the utensils are complete and clean. Toilets are ok with enough water pressure of hot water. However, there was no curtain in the shower room so the water always spills out whenever we showed but this is not big deal for us. The room is quiet and wifi is strong. It is located very near to most of the tourist spots especially Ucta vaci, easy to access other types of public transport especially metro. Would definitely recommend to any other travellers especially family or group of friends.

Huge apartment with separate sleeping areas - separate bedroom with double bed and a mezzanine sleeping area, also with double bed. Kitchenette in the room was great...well stocked with pots, pans, cutlery and crockery. Teabags, sugar, salt and ground filter coffee were provided as was washing up liquid and a free bottle of champagne! Location was excellent...right by metro station, ATM, grocery store. Friendly and welcoming staff too. Room was very clean and quiet. The room was right by Elizabeth bridge and the start of the main tourist drag (vaci utca) and was great value for money. Only slight negatives were that there was no city view (as it said in the booking), faint drain smell in bathroom, and fridge wasn't that cold. I would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous Riverfront Apartment
This apartment is very beautiful and doesn't overlook the details, like offering beautiful tea cups/plates, a plentiful tea selection and tasteful old-style furniture. Everything made us feel like we were enjoying a luxury lifestyle, if you can ignore the dust and not as well-maintained condition of the rest of the building.
The window does not have a screen, because we kept it wide open to enjoy the view (apt is on the 3rd floor), sunset and nice breeze, I ended up getting a mosquito bite.

Good Price & Good Location Apartment
We stayed at the Maverick Apartments for 5 days (4 nights) in early June 2016. Our 2 bedroom apartment was a generous size and offered plenty of sleeping options for our group of 6 (as the room could hold up to 9 people). Unfortunately the hot water in our shower was not working, but after making the staff aware of this we were given the keys to another private apartment so that we could use the working shower in there. The shower was not fixed during our stay but this was not a major issue due to the time of the year we visited and the temperature during the day. At the end of our stay when we checked out we were refuned 18,000 forint as way of apology for the shower not working. We were not expecting this generous refund (roughly £46 pounds) and on the whole it did not massively affect our stay. To conclude, great price, apartment location and services; we would definately consider staying at Maverick apartments again if we ever return to Budapest.

There was few steps going to the front desk of the hotel, as long as you are okay with that you will be fine. There is a lift going to the rooms. The rooms were very clean and equipped with kitchen supplies. Seems like they just updated the whole place. The only minor problem is the mattress. Not that comfy but we were too tired, we slept through the night. Overall, a great place to stay and the people in the front desk are super nice.
