Pension Flora - a very mixed review

Pension Flora.. hmmm.. To be fair I will break it into pro's and cons.

Pros: Clean & daily room refresh, location is perfect, air conditioned, Wifi acceptable & the accommodation is affordable (when compared to other property in Mykonos)

Cons: Difficult to find because of no signage, check in very slow as there is no reception & you have to wait until someone arrives, greeted with child like rules of 'no more than 2 people allowed in the room at any one time', intermittent hot water supply, noisy during both the day and night - you can literally hear everything both on the street and in other peoples rooms, very uncomfortable pillows, lack of good sleep, BYO toiletries, no luggage storage option upon check out. (Mykonos does not have any luggage storage in town, only at the port which is quite far when you need to head to the airport later- we literally had to walk around asking places to look after our bags)

It is an older style property which I didn't mind I actually started to like it's retro charm toward the end. The location and price are great! There is however much room for improvement at Flora. If your ONLY priorities are budget and location then this will be acceptable and you get the level of service you pay for.

Nearby is D'Angelos great for dinner and Cosmo Cafe, great for breakfast.

Great location

Great location right near the windmills and daily cleaning service provided. Best to call them when you arrive as there is no reception area, so makes it a little difficult to find and get the key if you don't!

Hard Beds, Unfriendly Host, Sewer Gas

We had issues at check in. They took us to a small room with a bathroom. We had reserved a studio with kitchen. After some time, they took us to the right studio. The studio was spacious, but that was about all it had going for it. The bathroom smelled of sewer gas. We joked that the beds were suitable for the Flinstones - hard as a rock. The handle of the frying pan broke off our first day there. A call was made to a very unfriendly and slow woman who said it would be fixed, but it never was. On our last day, we needed to store luggage. We called to inquire about this, but were told to go to the old port (some distance away). I explained that the listing said it included luggage storage. The woman on the other line was slow and unaccomadating. The second morning we were there, was a small gathering of folks who were making it home at 7:30 in the morning congregated on our stoop, laughing and shouting as though they were the only people around. It was a bother. We read the other reviews and were enticed by the lower price of this accomodation. I know it is difficult to find a good price in Mykonos in August, but we would have paid a little more had we understood exactly how uncomfortable and unfriendly our experience would be. One good thing, the AC worked great.

Cheap but decent option for a frugal Mykonos trip

You get what you pay for. Very Very good location, check in was easy enough and they were really nice. Just call ahead and they met me right near the apartment. Very basic place, bed, fridge, bathroom. No frills. Location was great right in the center. Mykonos is very expensive so if your looking to save some money this is a great place. If you are looking for comfort, this is not your place. The bed was quite rough.

The best location and very clean

I had a very nice stay at Pension Flora!

It was extremely expensive but still cheap relative to everything else in Mykonos. The location is perfect, in the centre of the town close to all shops, bars, restaurants, bus station for beaches etc.

Katerina was fantastic and so helpful answering any questions I had. As I was staying for 10 days she upgraded me to a bigger room after 2nd day which was so nice.

The cleaner came every day and kept the apartment very clean. Towels and bed linen were changed every other day!

I would definitely stay at Pension Flora again.

Very central room, in a quiet street.
The air conditioner wasn't working properly (probably the gas was exhausted).
I was told when I arrived that the cleaner would have changed towels and linen every other day, but she just pop up randomly. Sometimes the day after, sometimes three days later.

The first room we arrived to the AC was broken and there was no wifi. They were nice enough to move us to another location but it was a hassle. Overall the bed was super hard, the shower got water all over the floor and was tiny. Getting the keys will be a hassle if you don't have service in Europe. The location was the only good part.

We had our own access room with a street entrance. Top location. Good price. Clean and tidy and comfortable without being lavish.
Gray to pop in and out of whole enjoying mykonos.

Beware of where you arrive!

Booked this purely as a stop-over stay as our incoming ferry arrived late and outgoing was mid-morning.
We docked in the new port and rang the owner, Magda, as per instructions but we then had to call a taxi to take us to a midtown rendezvous point, adding 10 euros to the cost of the stay.
We met Magda who lead us to the room which was down a steep street, then up an even steeper flight of stairs.
The room itself was big enough for two adults and was clean, the town was down the remainder of the steps.
Just be aware that if your ferry docks at the new port you will need to organise and pay for your own taxi, arrivals at the old port don't have this problem

Small and sweet in the middle of town

My room was small...but it had everything I needed for a night. I was met in the square and taken there down the beautiful narrow streets, and she showed me a good taverna to eat in too...Opa, Try it!!
Its not a hotel a such, no reception desk or the like, but it was exactly what i needed. Cheaper than all the other options, but still pricey for what it was, but that's Mykonos!!

Great location in the Middle of the Town / Chora

The place is greatly located. It is in the middle of the town, Chora. 5 minutes walking distance from the old port. You will be in the middle of the Mykonian traditional narrow streets with plenty of restaurant, souvenir shops and Souvlaki restaurants (up to 10 min walk max). 2 minutes walking distance from Fabrika Square where you can take the bus to major beach clubs, Psarrou beach etc.

When searching for hotels in Mykonos. This was the most inexpensive deal I came acrossed if you're planning ahead. There is no reception service at the hotel, but when we got there the owner was there. He was nice and friendly, but it was the only time we saw him which was fine. It was easy to find though he informed us most said it was difficult to find. The hotel is nice, great location, nicely decorated and clean - the maid washed and dryed our clothes for us without asking. The only real complaint I had was the bed was hard. I would recommend this hotel for anyone not looking for a resort. I would go back again.

Great location at a reasonable price

This hotel is located right in the middle of Mykonos Town (Chora). One of the biggest problems was finding the place due to it's lack of signage. We asked a few of the locals and were able to meander through the city streets and find it. It is located close to Little Venice and next to the best gyro stand in Greece (the famous \"Jimmy's\"). We were able to walk to dinner every night and catch the bus (100 yards away) to the various beaches. The location was definitely a plus. However, the beds and pillows were as hard as a rock (European style) and there isn't a front desk or clerk to assist you with information.

Nice place, rather quiet

Pension is very nice, in the traditional Greek style and very well located on the main touristic street 3 min walk from the bus station.
Location is near the restaurants and souvenirs shop, rather quiet for Mykonos.
Sea was 5 min walk, beach 10 - 15 min walk.

풍차와 매우 가깝고 미코노스 타운 내에 있어서 관광지를 돌아보기에는 매우 좋습니다. 다만 혼자 묵는 방이라 화장실이 매우 작았고 특히 샤워공간이 좁아서 덩치가 있는 남자분은 씻다가 샤워커튼을 뜯어버리고 싶을 수도 있습니다. 매일 청소를 하기 때문에 깨끗하지만 유일한 단점은 도저히 잠을 잘 수 없다는 것입니다. 미코노스 내에서 반경 1km 이내에 술집이나 바가 없는 곳으로 깊숙히 들어가서 숙박을 하지 않는 이상은 이 섬은 여름 시즌에는 밤 새 아침 7시까지 시끄럽습니다. 새벽 4시쯤 음악소리가 끝나더라도 술 취한 젊은이들은 계속해서 소리를 지르면서 골목을 걸어다니기때문에 귀마개를 해도 잘 수가 없다는....

Trop cher pour la qualité de la chambre

L'Hotel est très bien placé dans le centre-ville.
J'ai eu une chambre simple, de taille correcte cependant la salle de bain était vraiment petite avec la douche dans les toillettes.
Il y avait 3 trous dans le mur qui faisaient office de fenetres qui donnaient sur la rue (cf photo).
Chambre relativement bruyante ( restaurant dans la rue avec deux mecs qui chantent toute la soirée à tue tête... pas de double vitrage, trou dans les toilettes... et mauvaise isolation avec les chambres voisines.

J'ai eu la \"chance\" de rencontrer FLora le 2 ème jour, pour le nettoyage de la chambre, je n'en voulais pas car j'étais dans la chambre à ce moment-là mais elle à quand même insité pour rentrer :\" cleaning every day at 12! no choice, i am flora!\" ...
Pour le même prix j'ai eu des hotels magnifiques en dehors de la ville à 10 min a pied.

Typique de Mykonos : CHER!

D'abord, assurez-vous d'avoir un portable fonctionnel en Grèce, autrement vous risquez de coucher dehors! Tout se fait par téléphone. Alors quand tu n'en n'as pas, ça débute mal. Pour le reste, considérant le prix très élevé pour une chambre (300 C$ la nuit) c'est très petit, les matelas et les oreillers sont durs comme la roche et ça fume en bas de l'escalier, ce qui fait que l'odeur est aspirée dans la chambre. Un peu plus et on va me facturer pour avoir fumé! Le seul point positif c'est le réfrigérateur, très efficace. Bref, Mykonos est largement surévalué et hors de prix pour ce qu'on a.

Dopo almeno 45 minuti sotto il sole cocente in una piazza gremita di autobus e tifosi urlanti è arrivato il giovane x la consegna delle chiavi. Pulizia buona, condizionatore funzionante MA camera piccolissima, bagno piccolo e scomodo e soprattutto letto da 1,40 quando avevo richiesto 2 letti separati! La posizione molto centrale

Perfect for the price

A little difficult when we first arrived before we realised they didn't had a reception and we needed to make a call to get access to the room. The location was really good and the room was absolutely ok for the really cheap price. The only small complaints is the bed and the pillows that was quite hard + it could be noisy outside in the nights.

L'albergo che è in gestione famigliare (e questo è sempre un vantaggio) si trova appena fuori dalla città ma a 10 minuti a piedi si arriva sia alla spiaggia che in città. Vicino c'è un supermercato attrezzato e anche questo non è da sottovalutare. La posizione che non è all'interno della città fa si che la zona è più ventilata e anche questo è un grande vantaggio. La stanza è molto spaziosa e fornita di un piccolo frigorifero. L'unica pecca è il bagno che è piccolo ma più che altro la doccia non è murata e non avendo nessuna copertura intorno, si allaga tutto e dopo, entrando, il pavimento si sporca subito. La colazione è normale e non aspettate un intercontinental breakfast ! La proprietaria è sempre disponibile e disposta ad aiutare per qualsiasi problema o domanda.

Stanza in una pensione al centro di Mikonos.

Esperienza negativa, sia x la posizione della pensione, difficilmente raggiungibile con i bagagli a piedi dal porto di Mikonos, ma soprattutto per la stanza in condizioni non accettabili per l'allestimento vecchio e il bagno improponibile, il tutto assolutamente non adeguato per il prezzo richiesto.
L'unica nota positiva la comprensione del disagio dell'assistente della pensione.

difficult to reach and no manager

Map and Tel no is wrong on this site. If you dont have phone, you can not check in smoothly. For later travellers, I advise you that this pension is locatied beside Hotel Carbonaki. Ground floor is a little market shop. First you have to find emergency tel no. on the board when you arrive.

Our bed room was well located in Mykonos and the personnel was professional
Unfortunatlty the room was very humid (my friend had the flu), small and very dark, the shower was broken, and nô service from the hôtel to take us from port or to Bring us to the airport nor left luggage
Even if it is high season in Mykonos, it was overpriced.

Abbiamo affittato una camera in una casa,piccola e gradevole,ottimo per il prezzo ,un po' incasinato trovarla ma se si chiama il responsabile ti viene a prendere.Responsabile gentile.Stanza in pieno centro di Mikonos,a 100 metri dai mulini a vento e 3 minuti dalla piccola venezia.

bien situé, environnement sympa( vieille boulangerie typique à proximité immédiate)

confort suffisant, espace correct sans plus, certaines appréciations sur le site semblaient contrastées, pour notre part nous n'avons pas eu de souci particulier. Le transfert est cher (12€/personne) par rapport à d'autres hôtels où celui-ci est assuré gratuitement sur des distances bien plus longues et à toute heure.
C'est une location que l'on peut recommander, elle permet de sortir rapidement de la ville et d'être proche des loueurs de véhicule ainsi que de la gare routière tout en permettant des visites faciles de Chora.
