Pros: staff were helpful, most hotel places were clean. Breakfast just was ok.
Cons: Annoying noise was generated by bathroom fan while turning on the light. No enough outlet in convenient area for electric kettle. So, I had to use bathroom outlet. Bed was not even and comfortable. So that, the head side was lower than feet side and used to make backache. Safe box had problem to opening/locking. Therefore, I called receptionist to come for fixing two times. This hotel was a pricey hotel in the area.

Rooms are clean and clean regularly, but the tap water is dirty and the water pressure in the shower was poor. Also the breakfast meanus are very minimal. Hotel staffs are friendly and fantastic spot to commute and lots of restaurants close by.

Great area amongst dining and shops. Walkable to Grand Bazaar and Hagia Sofia. Breakfast good. Staff helpful. If you are coming from the airport use the hotel to organise a shuttle as taxi drivers can be a bit hesitant when they get to the narrow streets. Don’t want to be walking and dragging luggage.

I loved this hotel, right in the center square with the train station practically next door, easy for transport to tram, metro, buses, water taxis. Shops so many restaurants and cafes, the area is so friendly. Breakfast was simple but very nice. Rooms were spotless. Very modern . Massive balcony (that has to be booked) I would definitely stay there again.

This hotel was more than I expected!
Overall, enjoyed my week there. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Going the extra mile at times to assist. Having breakfast included was great to get the day started. Its not a wide variation, but its a good and tasty selection.
The train transport line is right around the corner. What I appreciated greatly is that secuirty is present late at night and early mornings at the train station.
There are restaurants nearby - literally right outside the door.
I would definitely stay here again on my trip back to Turkey.

This hotel has good location. I review it as poor because of two things. First was the unfriendly front desk staffs (an older guy even turned his back on us instead of opening the door for us when he saw us at the entrance). Second thing was a badly coughing woman worked in kitchen served breakfast for two mornings of our stay. I then got the virus and coughed my head off during my rest trip in Turkey. She was sick so shouldn’t serve food.

The location was easy walking distance to everything, be it the waterfront, tram or major sights. There is a neighborhood feeling and hundreds of dining opportunities. The staff is friendly, helpful and efficient, they will help with information about your surroundings and even give you a decent map to find your way around as well as arranging airport transfer. breakfast was pleantiful and on par with other Istanbul hotels. The beds were comfortable and our room had a terrace which allowed us to sit and enjoy a beverage at the end of the day while we watched and listened to the wonderful city of Istanbul around us.
The only hiccup for us was that the hotel was fully booked, I move a lot when I sleep and for some reason the availability of full size sheets was limited as a result our (extremely comfortable) bed was dressed with 2 twin sheets horizontally as the bottom sheet which left me wound up under the sheets in the mornings not a big deal but a bit of a head scratcher. A small inconvenience for a great hotel at a reasonable price

A quite small hotel located in between Grand Bazaar and Kumpaki metro station. It’s clean, with basic hotel room, providing standard breakfast, only disadvantage is don’t have AC but have hot heat fan. We went in April 2025, although it was cold, at night it got hot and had to have windows open.

The hotel is in a good area. You can reach historical sites by taking a walk. It is close to the sea, I enjoyed taking morning walks close to the sea. The breakfast was very good, and most importantly everything is clean.

Decent hotel, you get what you pay for!

Decent hotel and a short walk from Sultanahmet mosque as well as the Grand Bazaar.
Some parts around the hotel look dubious but good restaurants at a short walk. Nevertheless, felt safe walking at night.

Room was warm and not to our liking since the central heating was on though temperatures outside was 12C+ but that just comes down to individual preferences.

Main issue was the wi-fi which didn’t work for the first few hours and then kept dropping after the IP address configuration was manually entered (with help from the reception). Ultimately, figured out that the issue was due to everyone being given the same IP address information by the reception leading to IP address conflict! Fixed it by using a slightly different IP address

Kumkapı bölgesinde olması nedeniyle gece güvenlik ve gürültü endişemiz vardı. Ancak bu endişelerimizin yersiz olduğunu anladık. Çok yakında gürültülü mekanlar olmasına rağmen gayet rahat bir konaklama oldu. Otelin 50m yakınında banliyö treni istasyonu var ve rahatlıkla Sirkeci 'ye erişilebiliyor. Tarihi yarımadaya ise 15 dakika yürüme ile ulaşabiliyorsunuz. Bence fiyat performans noktasında çok iyi bir tercih. Sınıfına ve fiyatına göre gayet güzel hizmet veriyor.

Overall for the price it was good. My room was on the first floor toward the street and due to several cafes and eating places, people were sitting outside until 2:00am and talking loudly and made it difficult to go to sleep. Overall the room was good and breakfast was good as well.

Excellent Sultanhmet area choice.

Erman was an exceptional host. I was made comfortable and felt at home the entire time.
I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. It was a walking only area other than taxis and so on. Many restaurants just out your door. 5 mins to sea walk, bus and train stops. Walk to most attractions. A great place to stay.

A great place to stay during a solo trip.

Located in a tourist-friendly location, Ahmet Efendi Konagi provides a pleasant stay. As a solo traveller, I valued their early check-in, which was set up with just a phone call. The Sultanahmet Mosque and Hagia Sophia and many other attractions were nearby, making it easy to explore the city, thanks to the good transport connections.

You could pay by cash or card here and they did not charge extra for my early accommodation. Despite being heavy on meat, the breakfast table included plenty of vegetarian options, such as fruits, salads, fresh juice and cheeses. Mr. Deniz and his staff were really kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and housekeeping was optional.

They accommodate most of your requests and I personally was very comfortable there. The staff spoke English and it was a little easier for me to communicate since I spoke a little Turkish. They also had a cloak room to keep your luggage in case you need to go somewhere after checkout.

All things considered, Ahmet Efendi Konagi guarantees a convenient and comfortable stay in Istanbul. I would definitely consider staying here again when I visit Istanbul next time.

We spent 4 wonderful nights in one of the rooftop balcony rooms overlooking the street. Mr Herman, the Manager, was a pure gentleman, gentile, kind and extremely efficient and no request was too difficult for him. Walking to the Grand Bazaar and Haggai Sophia and other places in the old city from the hotel is very doable. The Promenade along the Bosphorus was also an easy walk from the hotel. Our room was exceptionally clean and a reasonable breakfast is provided every morning. There are also many good restaurants in short walking distance from the hotel. Overall our stay was very pleasant in this quaint hotel.

Can’t fault the staff here, very friendly and helpful. Very good value for money, although my only complaint will be the air conditioning unit in the room was not working (it was pretty warm to sleep and my kids were complaining) However I didn’t ask them to have a look at if as we were out of the room all day and only got back pretty late every evening. Location was very good, won’t cost much in a taxi to go to Suleymaniye area where most of the main attractions were located. But try not to get taxis that are parked and waited for a long time for a customer. If you flagged a taxi by the roadside (which has plenty of taxis passing by) the fares will be 4 times cheaper. And if you’re on a budget, try to go to restaurants that are a bit further away from the touristic areas, learned my lesson when I have to pay almost £60 just for simple breakfast for me and my 2 kids nearby the Blue Mosque! If you’re after spices, nuts, bakalawa, Turkish delights and other souvenirs I would suggest going to the Egyptian Bazaar as The Grand Bazaar is such an overpriced place, although it’s nice to go for the experience and of course there’s more choices there. My kids hated it though, too big, overcrowded and so many people smoking indoors so it’s not pleasant to be there for too long. Overall, my stay at the property was pleasant, and I will go back and stay there if I ever come back to Istanbul 👍

At 1st, I was put in a room that looked like a walk-in closet, with a single bed and 50cm space around it. The hotel was overheated, it was impossible to control the temperature of the AC because the manager set all of them to heating mode. There was a noisy chimney at the side of the window, so I couldn't keep it open. After 2 nights in hell Expedia Team helped me to get a room where I could finally sleep. The hotel is 15- 20 minutes walk UP HILL from the closest public transportation. Kumkapi used to be a charming fisherfolk neighbourhood but is decayed. Dirty streets, with shops selling counterfeits and very noisy restaurants that are mostly tourist traps.

We were quite surprised to see the rating given to this just ordinary, inconveniently located hotel. When we arrived at the hotel in the evening, the taxi unloaded our luggage at the door of the hotel.We approached the most uncouth manager to arrange the luggages to be taken to our room, he said they don't have anybody to help me, we had to carry ourselves our luggages to the second floor of the hotel. This unsmiling manager is the only person in the reception. I can keep on writing about our bad experience regarding the hotel. My request to you, please don't give fictitious ratings to undeserving hotel, you would lose credibility. Thanks.
