Great stay here. Can't wait to go back. The hostess was so nice. Wish we had stayed more nights here. It was really quiet when we were here. Beautiful and tranquil. Not too far from Salzburg and the beautiful Hallstatt.

Some members of the staff were very kind, caring, and supportive. Others were not as warm.
I greatly appreciated being given an entry ticket to the spectacular Salzach River Chasm, which was literally outside the door!!
My only complaint is that someone was smoking outside of my window for many hours, all evening. I had to keep my window closed until late into the night, and the room still smelled like stale smoke. I am very allergic to cigarette smoke, so this was very unpleasant and kept me from sleeping and from enjoying my room.
Shower had perfect water pressure and temperature.
It would be nice to equip the rooms with a hot water pot and tea mugs. Otherwise, a lovely stay in a spectacular setting! Thank you so much!

Loved it! I can’t wait to come back

Perfect hotel for me. We had a room with balcony with chairs and a table and an amazing view of the valley. The room was basic but we were out most of the time so we didn’t mind. Despite being located above a road, it was very quiet and dark at night. Beds, as well as the sofabed were comfy. All staff was lovely. Breakfast looked very good though we haven’t tried it, only had some coffee (a nice one) and some cakes bits on the house during the day. Hotel is picturesque and clean. I rated cleanliness 4 only due to mouldy seals in the bathroom. The room could do with decorating and a tiny fridge for essentials as there is no restaurant. Though if you have a car or don’t mind walking, the village of Golling is definitely worth a visit; it’s a stunning place with a lovely atmosphere and plenty of restaurants. The gorge which is literally behind the hotel is also worth a visit. We visited it in the evening and had the place to ourselves. There is plenty of parking available, for free.

The hotel was generally quite nice but the check in was very poor and although they had emailed me earlier that day to ask if I wanted to book a table for dinner which I asked them to do at 08:00pm, almost the first thing I was told that there were no tables available at that time but there might be one available outside later on. On the earlier email I was told that one of the reasons to book was that thunderstorms were predicted for that evening and that was why I booked a table. Also when she said that there were no tables available, in the room next to the bar several, people were having meals and there were at least 6 free tables in there.
A pretty bad evening indeed

Great little family friendly place! Beautiful location. Yummy breakfast. Nice balcony. No AC but it cooled down at bed time with the windows opened. Waking up to the beautiful view was wonderful!!! We went to the Golling Fallls and they were wonderful.

The only downside was

Just needed one night near Salzburg. We stumbled on this place but was pleasantly surprised. They had a great breakfast, staff was great, and was in a beautiful area (Near a scenic gorge). The place is a little secluded but as said, you can grab breakfast (included), and has a dinner menu if you do not want to venture back into town. However, other services are nearby if so desired. A beautiful area and accommodations were kept up very well. You can tell owners took great pride in their BnB. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend this BnB.

Our stay here was lovely. We arrived later than 8 pm and Stephanie had our keys available for us. When we awoke, the view was spectacular! There was a large crane onsite for construction and that was a bit of an eyesore but no biggie. The breakfast was nice. Stephanie gave us great tips on scenic drives and recommended Bertschesgaden over Hallstatt and that was perfect. This location was a nice change from the hecticness of Munich. She also offered us train tickets to Salzberg. Perfect stay here and we would stay again.

It’s a bed & breakfast, not a hotel.
Room was dated, no amenities (no bin, fridge, safe etc)
Sauna area is nice, but sadly only open upon request during the day.
Kids loved the play area, breakfast was fine.
The pool is nice, although we felt like encroaching in the owners private garden area.
The swing is a death trap, Watch your kids heads.

We couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough. From the instant we walked through the door we felt at home and very welcome. Our room was lovely with spectacular views of the mountains and the relaxing sound of the river flowing. The breakfasts were delicious with every taste being catered for. This was by far one of the most comfortable stays we have ever had in a hotel. The beds were AWESOME. We had an incredible view of the mountains from our room. And a massive terrace from which to enjoy it. The hotel could use a little updating. Our bathroom window was broken and the carpet area was a bit dated. But the hotel itself is aged but well loved. We went to the neighboring village to catch a train to Salzburg. We had a slip of paper that was supposed to get us free passage but could find no one to help us at the train station. Only kioks. So we bought tickets. No one checked them either way though. The breakfast was huge and delicious. We really enjoyed our night here and wished we could have stayed longer. We will be back for sure. OH GPS WILL NOT TAKE YOU TO THE HOTEL! It will take you to an exit you can get to the hotel from but it takes you to a quarry. I just called the hotel and got directions from there. We were about a 10 min drive from the right place.

Wonderful mountain setting with a variety of walks (Summer). Close to ski facilities (winter). Easy road access with small towns nearby. Also easy reach of Salzburg, Hallein etc. by car. Kind hosts, pleasant rooms with balconies. Nice breakfast. Easy parking. Small, but refreshing pool (Summer). Other spa options available but we did not use.

Breathtaking views and one of our top picks!

The very first thing you'll notice about this secret gem of a hotel is that it is nestled in the mountains with views that will blow you away. Our room was beautiful and clean and had a balcony where we could just sit and soak in the beauty of the mountains. The beds were so comfortable, bedding was so nice, and there was an unbelievable amount of storage - especially nice if you're staying more than one night. The breakfast was outstanding, with all kinds of homemade goodies and delights. We've been in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for 2 weeks and this hotel was in our top 2. The owners are a lovely couple who bend over backwards to make your stay comfortable.

Quaint mountain retreat

We had an excellent stay at the Gasthof Pass Lueg Hohe. The owner and his wife were wonderful hosts. It felt more like we were staying with friends than in a hotel. The spa facilities were top notch. The daily breakfast (and cake and coffee in the afternoon) were great. The room was very basic--beds, wardrobes, TV--and a bit crowded, with no place to sit except on the bed itself, but the rest of the hotel made up for that. There was a nice little reading corner/sitting nook on the second floor where I was able to sit and work on my laptop. It was a perfect location, situated between Berchtesgaden, Germany, and Salzburg. We will definitely stay here again when we go back to the area, if only for the hosts!

I really enjoyed my stay in this beautiful, family owned chalet-style hotel. I was traveling as a single, but the owner David made me feel right at home. David provided detailed information about the area, and local trains. I love hiking. and there are a couple trails just outside the front entrance to the hotel. I wish I could have stayed longer and had a car to experience all that is available in this lovely area. There are regular trains running from Golling which is only a 20-30 minute trip into Salzburg, however it is a 45-60 minute walk from the hotel down to the train station.
Thank you David and staff for making my stay so memorable. I definitely plan to return!

Wonderful experience. The staff are wonderful! The view is amazing!! Our kids hiked. The staff assisted us with recomending places to visit and see during our stay. Staff were so helpful to our family. My mother-in-law became ill and they helped to make sure she was comfortable and had what she needed. The food is wonderful. We had reserved 3 rooms for our family vacation.

Good base to explore area

Firstly there is no restaurant. Expedia says it's only shut Wednesdays. This is wrong. The owner said he keeps telling Expedia. There are very limited eating places so we ate at lunchtime on days out and took food to our room for the evening. We ate there one night as they had a party and opened the restaurant for dinner. It was lovely. The hotel has a lot of road noise as situated on top of a road tunnel exit.
However, the staff were all very accommodating. The breakfast was lovely although we were a bit confused why some tables were reserved every day. My daughter is vegan and they offered to make her food. In the afternoons there is free coffee and cake.
We were upgraded to a mountain view room. As we stayed for a week this was great. Witnessed an amazing thunder storm, saw a meteor, amaizing stars and cloud formations. Sat on the balcony every evening.
The hotel has WiFi which pleased the kids.
Situated just out of the village of Golling and the motorway. Easy access from the airport.
We went to the Golling waterfall. Steep walk but worth it. Also visited the salt mine in Halien. Went to the castle in Wern. Due to us being so unfit we decided against the ice caves but the hotel is so close to them.
Spent a lot of time in the pool as we had such good weather. Was too hot to try the sauna.
Was a great family run hotel and ideal as a stop off. We stayed a week.

The Gasthof Pass Lueg Hohe was an incredible place to stay! The breakfast was an incredible array of cold cuts, cheeses, breads, jams, coffee, tea, cereals, yogurts, even freshly baked cakes. The staff were all wonderful to work with and very friendly, very helpful in recommending places to visit and local beauty spots. If you ever have an opportunity, try their apple strudel...we got to taste a very special blueberry strudel...absolutely delicious!

We were looking for a comfortable place to stay near Salzburg. Somewhere you can have good breakfast and drink lots of fresh air. I think we found a place we hoped for. We were served a good breakfast with quality foods. We left the window open for all night for fresh air to get in our room. The location was good for our trip which includes Ice cave, Salzkammergut, Hohenwerfen, Königsee, Salt mine in Hallein, Bad Gastein and Grossglockner Road. The only one thing we didn't like was where our bedroom was. I will make sure that the bedroom is not facing the rear trail. It would have been perfect if we got the room facing mountains. It was hard to tell when I made a reservation. Still we had wonderful 6 nights in this place. I hope to be able to return to this place when I come to Salzburg next time.Thank you David and Stephanie for your hospitality. We had a wonderful time.

Lovely stay in the mountains

Be warned - these little B&B's have very restricted reception hours. If you don't check in by the time they indicate in the SMALL print, you won't get in. Though reception hours were indicated as 7-10:30 am only, we missed that on the reservation. We called at 11:30 and they were gracious enough to put our key in an external lockbox so when we arrived we could get in.

When we arrived a lovely English gentleman invited us to have some tea and cake. The room was large and lovely with a great view. WiFi was spotty. Though the restaurant had listed hours of 5-8 pm when we came downstairs it was pitch black in there so we bopped into town to get a pizza.

There is no elevator. No A/C but when we were there it was plenty cool. Parking was abundant and the breakfast was nice. We didn't use the spa area but it looked amazing and the pool was a nice touch. Nature lovers be sure to take the hike just to the right of the entrance. There is a gorgeous gorge with excellent infrastructure to make it accessible for most able-bodied people.

Also don't miss the amazing Gollinger Wasserfall just a short drive into the city. What a beautiful sight!

The in-house library is a cozy spot to snuggle down with tea. In short, a lovely stay!

Fantastic accommodation

Excellent from start to finish. Great host, lovely room, best buffet breakfast in Austria. Very knowledgeable and helpful host. Had early morning walk recommended and thoroughly enjoyed with some amazing reflection photos. Highly recommend

Economical hotel with basic services for Obertraun

Cold breakfast with not many choices. No elevator. Must lock door from inside. Have a table with a corner bench. The best we could find for Obertraun. Most economical. Will definitely return.

could have stayed a week

this was our seventh hotel in eleven days and an overnight stop to visit the ice caves. Easily the most comfortable bed, large room with a good view, good breakfast, friendly staff (run by an English and Austrian couple) and a superb restaurant. The menu is littered with locally caught wild meat - goat, boar, venison etc. and I wish we could have stayed longer to sample more of it.

Gracious staff. Great food. Great sleep. Very very nice accommodations. Location easy access to local Wasserfalls (thunderous, huge) Saint Nicholas church just before falls....Eagles Nest. Wish our stay was longer

Great choice to visit the Salzburg Region

We were to stay at the Gasthof Pass Lueg Hohe for one night but enjoyed it so much that we stayed for a second night. The hosts are very friendly and go out of their way to help you the best way they can. The facility is centrally located with great mountain views for quick day tours to key areas such as Salzburg, Hallstatt,the Eisriesenwelt ice cave in Werfen and many others. The offer excellent meals at their restaurant that do attract lots of people from the neighbourhood and their free breakfast is excellent, all of this at very good prices. Highly recommended.

Don't Pass on Gasthof Pass

We loved our stay here.

Lovely establishment

This place has great facilities including a large spa area downstairs. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant food was delicious. The location and views were beautiful and serene. Definitely recommend.
