The property was nice and the rooms were clean. Staff were friendly and helpful, but need more training and better their English skills.

The breakfast buffet spread was good, but just could’t enjoy anything as it was over crowded in a tiny area. No one was guiding the guests and people were literally pushing at each other to grab food….which was not being replenished either

The hotel was fine—close to the airport with a decent breakfast.

What I found unacceptable was that they charged me USD 150 (46,000 rupees) for a driver from Negombo to Sigiriya. This is roughly triple the average cost, and even after I questioned it and declined, they insisted this was the standard price.

I understand it was a long journey; however, for even longer drives elsewhere in Sri Lanka, I paid about one-third of this cost and received better service.

We decided to stay here to be close to airport prior to our flight and pay the upgrade for transport to airport. In that respect, this hotel did help us be close to the airport and the transport to airport was seamless. In addition, the people were extremely friendly. However, the rest of the stay was lacking. This was rated a 4 star hotel, but I think it is more a 3 star hotel. Our toliet didn't flush properly and the bidet hose leaked when we flushed. This was even more problematic because I got sick with food poisoining from the hotel buffet the night after eating there right before our flight. I did see some bugs in the room. The pool and amenities look much nicer in the photos than in real life. I wish I loved it because the people were so nice, but I would not go back due the above.

Arrived late after a long day flying. Check in was as swift as it could be and we were soon in our room. Clean and cool with comfy beds, toiletries available, water, etc. what more could you need for a stay between flights?
Breakfast was delicious, plenty to choose from. But oddly tea was not readily available though they brewed a pot when I asked.
The staff are all so lovely and extremely helpful and friendly.
Laying by the pool is bliss (still here!) and they’ve given us a complimentary late checkout as our flight isn’t until this evening.
Only downside is that no-one was there to meet us at the airport as promised. Our original flight was cancelled, I messaged the hotel with new flight details which was about 3 hrs later than the original, but never got a response so I assume it was not read. It meant after a long day of traveling we had to figure out how to get someone to come get us which frustratingly added another 40 minutes to our already long day.
But overall would highly recommend this airport hotel.

Really disappointed.

Booked a suite for family of 4 for 1 night before flight back home. Bed linnens were extremely old and rough, couch had some pretty extreme stains on them that made it highly questionable to sit on it. Not enough bottles of water for basic hygene. Staff were very poorly trained at check-in, took forever to get room key and the woman had no idea how to use a card machine and had to be requested to give me my card back.

a really nice airport hotel. Colombo airport is quite far from the city and especially from Mount Lavinia, where we were staying. We had an early morning flight. This was a great hotel for us to use for the night before our flight. Food in Mynt was excellent (and worth the price), things in the room worked properly. Great Wi-Fi and a nice pool.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the manager on duty, Adrian, who quickly assisted us in getting checked in and up to our room. We ate dinner in one of the hotel restaurants, Mynt, which offered both traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and continental dining. The meal was very good. Overall, a very clean and modern hotel, conveniently located close to airport (10 minute by shuttle).

The breakfast was ok for vegetarians but the chefs tried their best to make whatever was possible. The Chinese restaurant golden dragon was really good. The food was amazing. The staff was friendly. Overall all the staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

I booked a superior king room. The room was not of the same standard of other superior king rooms that I have booked and stayed in at this hotel previously.The bed was clearly not a king. The room lacked basic amenities, eg I had to request that a fridge be installed, as I had to store my child’s medicine which needed to be refrigerated. The safe looked like it belonged in the 1960s.I am describing the second room I was given ,as the first room I was offered had a front door that could not be locked, and a room phone that did not work. I voiced my concerns about the room’s standard, and was informed by the front desk that the best they could do was to install a fridge in the room. The room that I stayed in does not match the room description nor the photos on the hotel’s website.

The local area is also worth exploring we watched a sunset on the coast and had a lovely meal 5 mins away.

Very handy to the airport. We noticed flight crews stay here. The front desk staff, Anne and Yasas were particularly efficient and courteous. In fact, all staff very impressive for the price point. Nothing fancy, but does the trick for an airport layover and would happily stay here again.

Had 2 stays each of 1 night duration. 1 Late check in from airport and 1 early check out to airport. Very convenient as an airport hotel with Meet and Greet service working well.

Staff very friendly and buffet breakfast an experience with staff eager to be friendly and introduce you to Sri Lanka cuisine - Hoppers and Dosas.
Pool area OK but pool bar staff a bit slow
Evening Buffet could be better, bit bland.
Rooms Ok but didn't spend enough time to evaluate them properly.

Overall based upon value for money I would grade 8 out of 10

The staff were very nice and provided excellent customer service. The hotel was fine but a little dated but clean and close to the airport. They need to have better sheets and higher free speed wifi but it was fine for my purposes. The food was good - a lot to select from to eat which was really good. Again, the staff was amazing.

I was only there for a few hours to freshen up before flying home. My room was nice and all I needed for my very short stay. But starting to show signs of wear and tear etc. The shower was great! And the hair drier was decent too. Very attentive staff, easy check in, welcome drink and towel to freshen up etc. Hotel is very spacious, which wasn't great for dad to walk from reception to the room. I'm sure they would have been able to golf cart him about, had we asked. Free wifi was fine, but logging in was a bit clunky and while I had no problems, my less tech savvy parents didn't get in. The restaurants and shops looked great. My room service menu was decent, and my pizza was nice, but hardly warm by the time I got it. Which was annoying as by that time I didn't have much time before I needed to depart for the airport. Staff from one of the major airlines were checking out as we arrived.

Comfortable room (I stayed in the new wing) with nice service ... however some feedback to the Duty Manager regarding a minor service item set off two solid days of over the top attention which moved from sickly to creepy very quickly. That aside, this is a good hotel, only about 10-15 minutes taxi ride from the airport.

Beware of “free airport transfer”

Only negative was despite choosing a room rate with free airport transfer, there was nobody waiting for me. Even though I called the hotel the day before to give my details. Good thing is they have a desk on arrivals so it was arranged on the spot. But they then tried to charge me for it. Apart from that hiccup, all was good once checked in.

We booked this hotel for one night but we only needed few hours to shower and sleep due to a late night flight. The room is clean and good size. We asked for early check-in and the staff accommodated for that. The buffet lunch has a great selection of food; we only wanted a light lunch before sleeping but unfortunately we were told no a-la-carte so we complied with the bufet lunch which was quite expensive for Sri Lanka (about 30 AUD) since all we wanted was a salad.
Overall a good stay and less than 10 minutes from the airport.

Our stay at the Taj Gateway Airport Hotel was amazing. It was situated amongst an appealing coconut estate. Stall was pleasant and helpful and very polite. Situated near to airport was an asset that o us who had an early morning flight out of Colombo.
We were greeted with a complimentary suite upgrade. The suite as amazing.
Breakfast was top class and Services exceptional
Staff arranged all transfer to airport . Can't fault in any way.. will use again.
