The gym was really really, really great. It’s hard to find a good gym overseas, but this one was really good. The food in the restaurants was really good and we ordered room service one night and it was excellent. I wish they had a better wine list but that’s being a little picky. Only very small thing I would be critical of was the tour representative. There was not very helpful and insisted into doing things her way rather than what we wanted.

The room and amenities were great but what really stood out to me was the green Apple spa . From the haircut I received from Betty the Barber to the massage I received from Johnny the best masseuse I have ever had I truly enjoyed the world class spa experience Skylight Hotel offers. The room was great - spotless, with a very comfortable bed, great water pressure in the shower and nice towels. The shuttle was very convenient - when you arrive at the airport, you need to ask the people at the desk as you get close to the exit to let the hotel know to come get you. Only downer was that the food was OK. Not bad, but not great either. Overall, a great place to stay in Addis.

My experience at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel was genuinely outstanding. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome with warm, attentive service that never felt forced. The lobby itself sets the tone—spacious, elegant, and full of natural light.

The rooms were spotless, modern, and comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made the stay feel elevated. I especially appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the quality of the bedding; it made it easy to rest after long days.

Breakfast was a highlight. The buffet had an impressive range of local and international options, all fresh and beautifully presented. The dining staff managed to be both efficient and friendly, which made mornings feel relaxed rather than rushed.

The amenities—including the fitness center, pool, and multiple dining options—were all top-notch. The hotel’s proximity to the airport was also incredibly convenient without sacrificing comfort or atmosphere.

Overall, the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Addis Ababa, whether for business or leisure.

Sky is an amazing hotel located in one of the best neighborhoods in Addis. It’s also an excellent option for red eye flights as it is located very close to the airport and provides free shuttle back and forth. I have stayed multiple times and every single time it has been an exceptional experience.

The hotel was lovely with excellent options for delicious meals and beautiful rooms.

If taking the shuttle to the airport, we would suggest leaving plenty of time to arrive since the shuttle was more than 25 minutes late. We were also surprised to arrive and hear that if we wanted to move into our room early, before afternoon check in, we would need to pay an extra 75$ fee even though the room was ready for occupancy.

Nice hotel with pretensions of being world class

The hotel itself is fine and there are some nice staff, but they really need to work with some of the others who were quite rude and not helpful. They also sometimes would give contradicting information.

One day we were told to go to breakfast in a certain restaurant and the next day when we went there they said it was \"only for business class\"

It is listed as pet friendly - but when I got there they tried to charge me double what is on the hotels.com website (and only agreed to the advertised price when I showed them the website)

Also as a pet friendly hotel, I was told I couldn't let my dog walk across the lobby (on a leash heading back up to our room) - quite rudely. Another time I was carrying him back into the hotel and was told \"you can't bring it in here\" before anyone even asked if I was a guest.

As I said, some of the staff are very nice and helpful, but others, especially with the security team, really need some skills, attitude, and how to deal with guests upgrading

We stayed on the 8th floor and we were told to use the 9th floor breakfast lounge. The key to the elevator would not let us go beyong the 8th floor. When we talked to the receptionist they had to have the approval of their supervisor to give us a different card for us to use the elevator to go to the 9th floor to eat breakfast. Again ,we asked if we can have late check out. We were given the same reasoning \" have to have THE supervisor's approval '. Give the employees some discretion. These maybe small inconveniences, but If I have to wait for a supervisor's approval for every little thing it becomes annoying.

I expected more from this hotel but was restricted from using the hotel amenities, such as the pool and spa. If you are a pregnant woman looking for a relaxing time, I recommend you do not stay here as you will not be allowed to use the pool or receive any spa treatment- not even a simple head or foot massage. I was looking forward to using the hotel amenities and feel it was money wasted that I was only able to try the restaurants, which I could have tried without staying here. The room was clean with a bathtub, I had to stay in my room majority of the time. The staff are not flexible in serving their guests and should better learn how to improve the guest experience.

Property is nice and its location is strategic. But the customer service is the worst i have ever seen. I arrived the hotel at about 8AM after a 14 hour flight, hoping I'd check in an catch some sleep before a meeting that afternoon. Unfortunately I was told I had to wait till 10.30 Am. I was told the room was ready but policy stated that check in had to be after 10 or I had to pay a half day rate. I could'nt wit due to tiredness so I was charged. When I inquired about breakfast, I was told breakfast for me was only available the next day because I was technically supposed to check in after breakfast was over. When I was charged a late departure fee because My flight was delayed and I had to stay longer. I will never again visit the property.

It's close to the airport, so convenient, but the rooms need an upgrade. The tub in the bathroom leaked all over the floor, and the restaurants are OK. At least there is a variety. The rooms are comfortable, and soundproof, which is nice. Check in takes forever, and the internet code they give you does not work. So OK, but people choose for the convenience to get to the airport.

Conveniently located — about a 10 minute walk from the airport (or by the hotel shuttle). Superior quality rooms with every amenity. Several restaurants on site. Secure. Friendly staff. Unfortunately the check-in / breakfast / checkout / shuttle processes are not smooth. There are two hotel buildings, each with its own check-in staff. There is no indication which building to go to on your reservation. One has to go through security to enter each building. You wait in line for security, then you wait in line at reception, then you are told you are at the wrong building. So you have to walk to the other building and wait in line for security, then wait in line to check-in. Some guests go to one restaurant for breakfast and other guests go to a different building for breakfast. I was given conflicting information by staff, resulting in my going to the wrong restaurant. And I was told breakfast starts at 5:30 a.m. to accommodate early flights. So I go at 5:30 a.m. and am told the restaurant won’t open until 6 a.m. By 6 a.m. I am rushing to eat something to catch my flight. Then at ckeck-out they give you a coupon to give the bus driver to tske you, along with 30 or more other guests, to the airport. They only drop you at the international terminal so if you have a domestic flight you have to walk the long distance to the domestic terminal. Staff simply need to have a consistent and correct message to give guests. Confusion is the order if the day.

This marks my third stay at the Skylight Hotel, each occasion coinciding with layovers on Ethiopian Airlines flights. The airline typically provides accommodations in business class for their passengers. Economy class passengers, such as myself, frequently receive complimentary upgrades or are offered upgrades at a nominal cost, as was the case on this trip.

The hotel consistently delivers top-tier accommodations; no further comment is necessary. However, a significant disparity exists in the quality of service provided across the hotel chain.

The breakfast selection is actually impressive in terms of range, quality and service.
There is local food, western and even a wide fruits and cheese selection well housed in a fridge.

Room service was not so good - wings are warm but chips r cold; added chicken to the Caesar salad but chicken was so dry; ordered the chicken and a portion of rice - in the end the chicken had rice on the side so I I had too much. Person on the call taking the order could have informed.

Check in requires improvement too - I am here for almost two weeks - I did inform clearly on the reservations - every time they said they would link the reservation, my room key does not work so I have to keep calling them. Then it is done again.

The rooms are large and clean with good AC , shower and bath tub.

Still a great choice but needs improvements on the areas with repeated service gaps.
