Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and rooms very spacious. I would recommend improving the electrical installations in the bedrooms to ensure they are more robust. WiFi was variable but improved during the stay.

The airport shuttle service was readily accessible. The staff was courteous and humble. The cleaning standards were satisfactory. The kitchen could be improved. Specifically, the coffee thermos were somewhat bothersome. It was necessary to pump the down to release coffee and the coffee milk.
However, it was ok for the price. The room was quiet and average cleaners. I wasreceived just only one towel. For showering purposes, i found it somewhat repulsive.

This hotel is \"home from home\" which is due to the very friendly and very helpful staff who are customer focused. The whole hotel staff team are exceptional in particular Rekik at reception who always collaborated with me in teasing family and friends visiting me at the hotel and Shetaye serving Secial tea & St George beer in the bar where I engaged in good conversation. It is easily accessible from the airport and the breakfast is always excellent.

Rooms were small, but well furnished and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful when approached (and treated with respect). Breakfast was simple, but well cooked and selected. We had some noisy neighbors who apparently received a talking-to by hotel staff, and we didn't have any problems sleeping after that. Despite the rough-hewn neighborhood making it difficult to find, it was safe, well-located for food, airport, and tourist destinations. Overall, good bang for the buck.

The room was amazing for the price... it had amenities I didn't think came with this category of hotel, like a mini-fridge with bottles of water. The ceiling was high and solid and the floor was thick, so the only noise issues came from the hallway and those didn't occur late at night. The breakfast was more varied than I expected, and was included with the room. The hotel is just a couple of minutes away from the airport, and the complimentary shuttle is included, so perfect for an early morning flight. The staff is delightful (although I found that true in much of Ethiopia). A great value.

We stayed for a week and were generally disappointed by the suite as the photos did not match reality, especially the bathroom. Shuttle service was almost 2 hours late for our airport pick up even though we were confirmed and on schedule at least a week prior. It only arrived after we'd made several phone calls to the hotel asking about the shuttle driver's whereabouts (they kept lying to us by saying it'll arrive in 5 mins). Once we made it to the hotel frustrated and exhausted, we complained to the lady at reception only to be met with an apology and a sad explanation that they had to prioritize picking up other passengers that were supposed to arrive the previous night - which was an insulting explanation for us. Furthermore, the floor our room was on was extremely noisy due to rowdy and disrespectfully loud guests - I was personally awoken between 2-5am for several nights in a row. Staff wasn't helpful in managing their guests. Manager was hard to reach as he hadn't shown up to the reception desk or the hotel during our entire stay. We've made several complaints to the reception staff and they ended up giving us false hope in a potential room change. As part of VIP Access perks, we did not enjoy all the benefits. Facilities are a joke - spa is just a steam room, no massage, unsanitary and tiny gym.

Good staff, food was good. Staff call at weird times sometimes to ask about stuff. Outdated rooms, wall paper peeling. Beds are good but don’t have protective covers on them or pillows so not sure how they keep them clean between visitors. Shower not very clean, no AC, and windows don’t have a net or screens to keep out bugs so mosquitoes come in sometimes when you leave them open. Floors of room were generally clean.

I have stayed at Hotel Lobelia many times. It is conveniently close to the airport and a great price. The staff is always helpful. The rooms are a little dated and there is no air conditioning, but overall I really like this hotel especially for the price they charge.

Our experience at this hotel fell significantly short of expectations, especially for a property with a four-star rating.

To start, the shuttle service arrived 40 minutes late, which set a poor tone for the visit. Upon check-in, we found the bed in our room was broken. After notifying the staff, we were moved to a different room, where we then discovered that the shower was not working. This sequence of issues suggested a lack of attention to room maintenance.

Additionally, the advertised breakfast was limited and sparse, offering only a few items such as cereal, pancakes, and some dry bread. It did not meet the standard one would expect for a full breakfast inclusion. Lastly, we did notice what appeared to be a cockroach in the dining area, which raised concerns about cleanliness.

Overall, our stay was disappointing, and the experience was not reflective of the four-star rating. Prospective guests might wish to consider these aspects when making their travel plans.

In dark side street but close to main road. Friendly hotel with bar and OK breakfast. Rooms old fashioned and a little damp feeling (in the rainy season) and some noise issues, but mostly a tranquil shelter in a lively and potentially chaotic-feeling city. 2 days in Addis

The Lobelia was a great choice. They provided breakfast every day, picked me up from the airport, and took me back. It is close to the airport and has everything you need nearby. Shops, restaurants, and transportation are all within walking distance. My room was very large with good Wi-Fi. I would return again if I travel to Addis Ababa. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Landing in Ethiopia, I had no idea what to expect...I was returning to the U.S. from a few months in South Africa on Ethiopian Airlines and, on a whim, booked one night in Addis and one in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire as it was permitted in my itinerary. I'm so, so glad that I did! I'm even looking at options to be able to work in Addis, as I found the diversity, history, and energy of the city/nation to be so compelling.

After just mentioning to the staff at Hotel Lobelia my itinerary and that I was keen on local recommendations for 20 hours in Addis, the hotel immediately booked a convenient and easy-to-find shuttle driver for me both directions as well as introduced me to Abay, a tour guide with whom I was fortunate to spend the evening and the following morning. Abay was amenable to my photographic and sight-seeing goals, and we hit the city hard in the evening and the following morning....indeed it was a whirlwind of a trip that left such an impression on me.

The hotel room was modest but so pleasant and had everything I needed. Also I appreciated that the bar/coffee area downstairs is open 24/7 if you need a bottle of water or a cup of Joe at 5 a.m. as I did to keep the street photography flowing.

Location couldn't be beat, either. A trivial drive (5 min? 10 min?) from the airport. Highly recommended to those on a layover like I was, or looking for a beautiful base on their way into or out of Ethiopia!

Stay was great. Very good customer service from the shuttle driver to the receptionist at the hotel. We love every moment. The only thing that bothered us was the WiFi. It kept cutting off and slow at some times but overall, great experience. The food was also very good. I will recommend it to people traveling to Addis.

Great value; friendly staff; convenient location

I stayed in Hotel Lobelia for a total of 5 nights during 3 separate times in July. The hotel is conveniently located, just a 10min drive from Bole international airport, & a free hotel airport shuttle is provided. This was perfect for me as I had to fly in & out of Addis Ababa a couple of times as I traveled around Ethiopia. Besides being close to the airport, the hotel is also very close to many other establishments, such as restaurants, cafes, shops, mall, etc. There is also an ATM just outside the hotel lobby so this was extra convenient.

The 3 different rooms I stayed in during my 3 separate stays were all spacious, satisfactory, & clean. The bed was quite comfortable, & the wifi worked well in the room. The bathrooms are quite small, however, & can use some upgrades, but overall it was fine, and the hot water shower was great. On one of my stays, I did end up getting upgraded to one of the suites, which was a very big room with a very big bathroom.

They serve a buffet breakfast which included traditional Ethiopian dishes, and sometimes eggs & pancakes, in addition to toast, fruits, juices, coffee, & tea. Besides breakfast, food is available all day at their restaurant, as well as room service. The food at the restaurant is quite good. Laundry service was also good – I dropped it off just before 8:30am & got it back just after lunch. They also have luggage storage. The overall service is really good here; plus all the staff are really nice, friendly, & accommodating.

A quaint older hotel a short walk away from the Airport. The entire staff from doorman was more than welcoming.
Internet could be better. Had to go down to the lobby area for continuous signal. Showr has its individual tank soo… Hot!! If you like it that way. Power went off a few times but don’t panic, generator kicked on within 5 minute.
You get what you pay for.

The staff is very helpful and accommodating. very customer service oriented. booked my tours of Addis Ababa, Lalibela and Gondar from the tour guide \"Abay\" at the hotel who arranged and coordinated everything...everything ran smoothly thanks.....Also stayed at this hotel from May 8th thru the 12th and I would like to thank the GM \"Samson Befekadu\" for arranging that extra late checkout, on my last day. as I mentioned they were very accommodating even permitting me to store our extra luggage at the hotel while we traveled to different areas at no charge.

i like the cleanliness of the property what i don't like is the front desk staffs could have been more professional with respect to handling guest room keys and the way they keep these keys for a guest while guest is out of the hotel tiil they come back . in our case , they lost the key and we had to go ghrough argument and some attitude from the side of this front desk woman before she gave us a new room key. this could have been avoided with a beter attention given by staf memberes towards to guests .
