Small and cute hotel with a delicious home made breakfast’s. Located in the center of the walled city of Cartagena. The staff is amazing, the only downside is that you really need to speak Spanish as their English is limited. Bring ear plugs. Very safe! Close to all sites.

Great small boutique hotel in walled city. Big room with nice personal touch decor, big shower and comfy bed. They have only 4 rooms so never get overcrowded. Limited breakfast choices but it was enough for us. It’s located in center but it’s quiet during the night and we were able to rest well. Will return again :)

Aquamarine hotel and boutique is a small and cozy gem in Cartagena. We were able to enjoy 2 of its 4 rooms and they were really beautiful.
My husband and I enjoyed so much our days in this hotel. The staff was really welcoming and helpful. Our deepest thanks to Marisol Rivera, who helped us even before arriving in Cartagena.
The hotel Is perfectly situated by great restaurants, bars and stores. Just 1 minute walk from Plaza Santo Domingo.
Looking forward to come back in the near future.

LOVED this Hotel Sooo much we booked again end of our trip! The Suites, Breakfast (included each morning),Rooftop Pool looking over 4 Duomos,Location and the Staff is AMAZING!!! I lack words to describe just how amazing this this hotel and its staff are. It’s one of the most charming places I have ever stayed at. Its vibe perfectly fits into an overall vibe of the old City (unlike the steril vibe on some hotels in Bocagrande). The staff is not only highly professional, but also very pleasant and helpful. During our entire stay at Aguamarine, every staff memeber greeted us with a smile on any encounter and accomodated our every request with genuine care.
The hotel itself is beautiful and being that it has only four rooms, we had the rooftop pool to ourselves the entire time. It was almost as if we had the entire hotel to ourselves. Finally, the location is amazing... it is located on one of the nicest streets in the Old Town and close to everything. If I come back to Cartagena, I will be staying at Aguamarine for sure. I just cannot revommend it enough. Muchisima gracias to the staff of Aguamarine!

They claim a water pipe busted one day before I arrived. Then they stayed everything will be back to normal in the morning. They placed me in a front room on the first floor. The lock to close from inside was a wooded stick!!! The bedroom was a hard as that front door. Then to top it off, when I woke that morning I analyzed the whole situtation. I was the only guest in this dam hotel!!! I thought hey am I being punked all the way in Cartenga Colombia. I immediately notified them I will not be staying here another day or night!!! This entire hotel needs to be updated immediately!!!

Nice pool, b-fast, staff; stingy when a problem

Overall the hotel was nice: rooftop pool deck with large umbrella for shade, breakfast was great with various spots in the hotel to sit and enjoy, bed was comfortable, and hotel was clean. Bit noisy on the street, but nothing a couple earplugs couldn't handle. However, one night they had a leak in their water pipes and had to turn off the water entirely. They claimed that it only lasted 30 minutes, but that was the exact 30 minutes, evidently, that I needed to shower before the evening reservations. So they gave me a bucket of cool water to clean myself... When I checked out, they didn't offer a discount and acted extremely shocked and annoyed when I asked for one for this inconvenience - not to mention that, when they agreed, they only gave an entirely too small discount, so I had to follow-up again and demand more. If everything goes to plan, this hotel is perfectly fine. But if something goes wrong, don't expect them to make it right for you. They made me feel like I was out of line for thinking I should be able to shower whenever I want after paying $200/night for a hotel...

Beautiful lovely very clean hotel with attentive staff and spacious high ceiling rooms right in the city center is what you will find at Aguamarina Hotel.

The staff is amazing here, the rooms are so lovely and so clean, breakfast is included and is delicious and the pool is small and lovely.

There is 1 room on the ground floor in the front of the bldg right on the street level.I was booked in this room for 2 nights and way Very concerned about noise and safety.

However, my concerns were alleviated because it was very safe and the noise was not bad at all after midnight. Bring earplugs for this 1 particular room.
You are in the city center and this is where you want to be.

Aquamarina Hotel in June 2018

Our room was fairly large, the shower was very nice with two types of shower devices, there were two sinks in the bathroom so my girlfriend and I had room for all the electrical devices. room was serviced every day. We were the only guests and had the undivided attention of the staff.

Loved Aguamarina Hotel

Fantastic location within the walled old town for this small boutique hotel. Beautifully renovated old home with very zen, Balinese furniture. Great view of the ocean, the city and Boca Grande from the rooftop terrace. Very courteous, accommodating and friendly staff. A little noisy in the evening but it didn’t taint the experience.

Super staff and location within the walled city of Cartagena. The breakfast was delicious. The only suggestion I made is that a hotel of this price range and style ahould have hot water showers. The water out of the tap is fortunately somewhat warm due to it being Cartagena, but were expecting a hot water shower.

It's more of a private home than a boutique hotel

The hotel is stylish (as long as you like plenty of buddhas and colorful, oversized Venetian chandeliers) and centrally located within the old walled town. There is a nice rooftop pool that overlooks the city. The rooms are spacious but have glass doors facing an internal courtyard that is also used as a common area for breakfast, which makes for a noisy experience. If you are a light sleeper, you may be up by 7:30 am, which is when they start setting up breakfast. The hotel has restrictive policies for visitors that are not indicated on the Expedia website and are only contained in the Spanish language fine print policies that are part of the check in papers (as far as I can recall, it's no visitors between 9 pm and 9 am and otherwise visitors are only allowed in designated common areas or with prior approval by the hotel staff in the room - apparently this is for safety reasons). Hotel staff, but for one person, does not speak English. Amenities/services are minimal. After a couple of days, I decided to switch over to the Movich hotel (best rooftop pool and views in old town), which is about the same price, but has many more amenities/services with highly professional hotel staff. If you are a somewhat spoiled frequent traveler used to a minimum level of services/amenities, you will probably like Movich much better. If, on the other hand, you are looking for an experience that is more like staying in a private home, you may like Aguamarina.

The hotel is so peaceful, quiet and beautiful. Hotel staff was so helpful and always available. There are 5 rooms in the entire building so it's never too noisy or overcrowded. The location is perfect, it's right in the thick of the beautiful old city but not on one of the busier streets so it's much more quiet. This is one of the nicer places I've been and I'm so glad to be able to experience it. Definitely take advantage of the rooftop pool!

great location, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful decoration. I would say this is more of an upscale B&B than a hotel...there are only 5 rooms...but as a B&B it's topnotch. I was in Room #1 which was nearest to the street and at times was noisy from the revelers outdoors, otherwise was near perfect.

Be careful with your valuables

I had stayed in this hotel before and thought to try it again. Unfortunately, I must say that the safe inside the rooms is NOT safe. I left money (both in dollars and Colombian pesos) and part of the money was missing (only $100 in dollars plus pesos equivalent of $120 more less). When I brought it up to management, and showed them that the safe could be opened without the key and by simply entering 1234*, it opened. They did nothing to resolve and basically put it on me that I had misplaced the $, which is simply impossible. I knew exactly how much was on the envelope. All hotels have master Keys also whoever entered could at their will. Then, they pretend to fix it by telling me they wouldn't charge for an upgrade (btw, I never asked for an upgrade and when I checked in I informed them to leave me in my original rom and then the concierge tells me he took it upon himself to upgrade me yet I never agreed to that)

overall, Terrible experience. I only write this because I want other travelers to beware and want to do the due diligence for my fellow travelers. The hotel is pretty but the lack of integrity with your valuables makes me give it an F, I now wish I had stayed at a hotel chain. I will not come back.

Excellent hotel. Excellent Location.

This is a small hotel in the best location of Cartagena's walled city. It is within walking distance to restaurants, museums, bars and shopping. There are a total of 5 rooms in the building and all are spacious and nice, however if you are sensitive to street noise avoid the Standard room (there is only one) and the suite that faces the street. Cartagena can get noisy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. I'm one of those that are sensitive to noise and did not have a problem sleeping...in fact, I slept wonderfully. The rooms are romantic and spacious for two people. I like the large restroom area with large shower. I also enjoyed sitting on the top terrace and reading with view to the ocean, city and vultures!

Nice way to end trip-don't expect a big breakfast

We visited Colombia for 8 days, traveling back through Cartagena on our way back to NY. We wanted something a little special for our last night so we picked Aguamarina. Overall it is a cute boutique with unique rooms and a fantastic rooftop. The service/staff was fine but not above the other 3 star hotels we visited in Cartagena/Medellin. The weakest part of the stay was the breakfast. For an \"upscale\" establishment it was a very limited menu and we were charged extra for asking for a plain arepa (?) which seemed to be standard breakfast at the other hotels in which we stayed.

The hotel is based in a lovely part of Cartagena, walking distance to most of the sights. The rooms are quite decent and well decorated but awkward (my bathtub was open-air but got dirty very quickly). There is absolutely no amenities or services. I got up at six for breakfast, was told to come back at eight. The majority of staff are friendly but don't understand a word of english.

A truly wonderful experience!

I have been in the hotel business for 40 years and was completely bowled-over by my recent 4N stay. Aguamarina is a true oasis in the middle of the Walled City in Cartagena. It's very serene, has only five rooms, smells wonderful and the air-conditioning (guest rooms only) is top-notch. Rooftop pool and area surrounding is all you need - you can watch the sunset from the top wooden lounging bed! The bedroom/suite is large with stocked mini-bar and spacious ultra-modern bathroom.The staff is more than accommodating and make you feel like you are coming home each night. Hot breakfast is served each morning, and Natalia will set up all your tours (and charge to your room). One of the best hotel experiences I've had in a long time.

Gorgeous hotel and friendly staff

This hotel was amazing! The design of the common areas and the room itself was incredible. Our bathroom had an open-air shower, which was amazing. The breakfast in the open courtyard in the morning was delicious and fresh. The view from the roof is spectacular. The only downside is the noise from the street at night, since the hotel is in the heart of the action (which is great for exploring, but not great for sleeping). I would definitely go back!

Nice rooms and only 3 of them, so you can have lot of privacy. The staff was really friendly and helpful. You have a bath inside the room to enjoy with your partner, many places to read and a nice pool in the roof. It was much better than expected.
Breakfast is made right in front of your eyes.

The staff makes you feel right at home. The hotel has 5 rooms only and it's a gem.
My only minus is that the room I stayed in was in close proximity to first floor and all the noise from kitchen/lobby filtered up so no snoozing until 9. Otherwise, lovely!!!!

Great stay, super friendly staff.

The experience started bad, as something happened between Expedia and the hotel, and when I arrived they did not have my reservation confirmed (even though Expedia sent me confirmation, but had not charged it to my credit card). However, the staff offered to relocate us to another hotel, or to stay with them while having to change rooms for the last night. We stayed at the Aguamarina, and I'm glad we did. The staff is really friendly and strives to help. It has an excellent location, and the breakfast included is good. Both the rooms we stayed in were really clean and comfortable, although room #1 (which faces the street at ground level) can get a bit of noise from nearby bars at night. Overall, it was a very good experience.

My boyfriebd and I enjoyed this hotel because its intimate and The staff greets you by name. Its like staying at a friends' house moré than a hotel.
The rooftop is peaceful and prívate. Perfect For sunset watching and sipping your coffee in The morning, before heading out Island-hopping.

Simply, I did not feel like I stayed at a hotel, or boutique hotel. I stayed at my millionaire uncle's home in Cartagena!
When the cook calls you to describe what she wants to make for you ... that is a different level of service! ... and I have 10 more examples like that!

Great hotel in a great location

great hotel. the location was great and perfect for what we needed. Our only complaint was that we were placed in a room on the ground floor right next to the door. It was so loud all night from the street noise and door opening and closing that we didn't sleep. If you stay here make sure to request a room upstairs. It is a very unique hotel and the staff is so nice and always willing to help!

What a beautiful & cosy Casa Boutique Hotel

My first time in Cartagena for a wedding and the experience was excelled because of this boutique hotel, its personalized decor, location, roof pool and comfort made all the difference. If you plan to go to Cartagena definitely stay within the \"Ciudad Amurallada\" area and if you want to treat yourself Aguamarina will complete the experience.

Intimate couples retreat in colonial center.

\"Love nest\" kind of place in the heart of the Colonial walled city. Great location; converted house (they said from the 1500's) tastefully renovated with contemporary touches and an Asian aesthetic - Indonesian-looking furniture and crafts, plus a Buddha in front of a \"water wall\" in the lobby. A delightful rooftop plunge pool area - smallish but fun and perfect views of the sunset. Because our room faced the street in a lively area, there was a lot of street noise at night, though some of it - a lone saxaphone player and the clip clop of coach horses - was not necessarily bad. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. Hotel says they have 5 suites, but ours was really a good-sized room with a four poster bed and a very nice bathroom where the tub/shower was open to the sky. Many good restaurants within a couple of blocks.

Demeure bourgeoise au coeur de la vieille ville

Niché dans une batisse du XVI, a trois etages, l´Aguamarina possède 5 vastes chambres. Modernisé il y a pres de 10 ans, le confort y est total, bonnes salles de bain, climatisation impecable. Sur le rooftop une petite piscine avec belle vue sur la ville.La localisation est on ne peut meilleure, dans le coté \"Calme\" de la vieille ville, avec tou le comerce, monuments et restaurants a pas plus de 300 metres.
