This property is nothing like the pictures in the listing. Mold is present throughout, the bathrooms are in terrible condition, and the floors are dangerously slippery. We had booked for 7 nights but checked out the same day due to serious health and safety concerns. Unfortunately, we have not received a refund and are still working with Expedia to resolve the issue.

Place is 3 minutes drive from beach not really walkable very busy main roads. But was beautiful grounds and pool is impeccable. Breakfast was delicious. The place is quite in need of some TLC it would have been wonderful 20 years ago...a bit expensive for this reason

Great Hotel/Area ok

This is a good hotel if you're wanting to be in a different part of the island and not in a big touristy area. The area from what the locals have said is not the best, but we felt safe because the hotel is gated.

Looks better in photos than in reality. Air conditioning was not working properly so it was very hot during the night. Weird smell in the room. Area very rough which far away from what you need for holidays. It looks like that this hotel is counting last days.

Great little gem away from the hustle and bustle.
A little aged but retains its charm! The pool is fantastic and the staff are beautiful people who made our stay just great. It’s so fantastic that breakfast and shuttles to the beach are included - made life just that much easier.

Nice Staff, great for family vacation

Very friendly staffs and always willing to help. The villa is nice but a bit dated. Towels were provided, but they are old and some of them were torn. There are not a lot of things available around the neighborhood, but the villa's staffs are ready to take the guests to nearby grocery store or restaurants. Breakfast could be improved with more variety especially for guests who are staying for more than 2 or 3 days.

Villa looks good, service needs improvements.

Good for the price, there's a big room for improvements. Needs a reception area, an intercom, if guests needs something, we need to go to the staff quarters. The car or driver is also not always available. Breakfast is terrible. Housekeepers didn't replenish the supplies evethough they were empty. Difficult to communicate with staff.

Nice large villa.

Large two bed villas. Air con and basic but adequate kitchen facilities with washing machine. Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Pool adequate but not for swimming laps. Slightly removed from the beach/town area of Sanur (approx 1.5km) and the by-pass to cross. This would be fine for adults and older kids who don't mind walking but a little risky with children and not pram friendly due to by-pass and poor condition of footpaths. However, Apel Villas do provide complementary transport to and from Sanur town/beach at times usually convenient for most. Failing that, they will arrange a Bluebird taxi to pick you up from the hotel and there are plenty of cabs around Sanur to get you back. There is a pool/snooker table but it's difficult to play due to the walls/windows/stairs and some new short cues would help. Internal Putting green available as well as a limited gym. Gardens small but beautiful. Directly outside is real Bali. Big contrasts to be seen throughout Bali. Great for educating our rather pampered but not overly indulged kids. Would visit again. Owner could do with investing in maintenance to keep this place beautiful. Staff all very obliging and friendly. Their English is better than our Indonesian but is limited, that said, everything was worked out. Would stay there again. We preferred Sanur to Kuta. 8 travelled,ages 51-6.

The hotel was the best, the staffs were very kind and cheerful. The manager went out of his way to help us. We were very happy with everything about the hotel. The only down side is the location. It doesn't looks very appealing, it situated in the poor neighborhood, but it not a dangerous area. Overall, we love the hotel, if we ever go back to Bally, we will stay at this hotel again

Little gem

A little out of the way but the staff are so helpful and the accommodation is very spacious and comfortable. We would like to thank Wayan and All the staff for looking after us and especially for the transport back and forth into Sanur and the airport transfers. Everyone did their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible and we really appreciated all that was done for us. We would definitely love to return again sometime.

Average property but impeccable service

The windows in the bedroom cannot be closed so Mosquitos n lizards kept entering the room. The Aircond was rather weak n noisy but the service was impeccable esp by Andrea the driver. He was the best driver I ever came across in Bali. The property is quite far from Sanur town but the complimentary transport was excellent!

An Stay In The Real Bali

This small villa hotel in a residential part of Sanur is away from the tourist centre. However, it allows a visitor to experience the vibe of Balinese culture and is still very close to tourist amenities. Wayan and the staff will do anything to make your stay enjoyable, they even pick you up at the airport! My family stayed here for two weeks and besides the lovely large two-bedroom apartment we had at a great price, we had wonderful breakfasts cooked for us an delivered to our room each morning. The hotel will drive you anywhere. We ate at Sanur's large collection of places almost every night and paid a AUD $5 taxi after having our compulsory Nasi Goreng! I have been to Bali over 30 times since 1975, but I haven't been here since 2001, what a great reunion with Bali, it has hardly changed. My family did lovely day tours of the island, shopped in Kuta, went to Waterbom Park and had a great time! Also- The Wifi is wonderful had four or five devices going all the time, no disruptions. I highly recommend this place!

Villa is about 5 minutes away from Sanur main strip & beach but worth the extra time to walk or car ride which they offer complementary. Wayan the manager and staff are terrific and made our stay a pleasure !

A gem in the backstreets of Sanur

Tucked away in a kampung just off the bypass this villa is really only 10 mins from central Sanur. The courtesy car will deliver you there free of charge including airport transfer.
The staff are great and will do anything to make your stay fantastic.
The villas cater for a range of needs, 1 room to 4 room. Facilities are generally good but some units are in need of repair.
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Had a wonderful family vacation at Apel Villa

Had a wonderful family vacation. Apel Villa Sanur is a great place to stay. We liked the rooms and its amenities.
We hired a car with driver and that solved the transport issues which is a problem because of its location which does not have accessible public transport. You need to call a taxi company if you need to move around.
We were picked up and dropped off at the airport which was very convenient providing worry-free transfers.

lovely!

Very nice rooms and gardens, great breakfast, quiet area. The villa is a bit away from the main downtown restaurants and beach area, but hotel staff were more than helpful in providing transport or arranging taxis.

The staff say when we want to go back just make a call they will drive us back, but when we finished our dinner around ten o'clock. No one answered the phone, we have to go back by walked.

Good stay at Apel Villa

This place was pleasant during our stay in Sanur. It's a little bit outside the town and the beach but the free shuttle is very convenient. The room and living room is large and well furnished. The garden and atmosphere is good. You feel like you have the place for your own. I don't give it 5 stars for the room cleanliness which was not the best and also for the lack of service during evening time.

Beautiful oasis away from the craziness of busier hotels. Requires you to take a taxi into Sanur however they drove us into Sanur and the airport on a couple of occasions free of charge with no restaurant on site. Quite spacious. Lovely staff. Shallow end in the pool for children. Excellent internet. Some water pressure and water issues but they have a generator that needs to be turned on to allow you to shower.

Quite a quirky hotel. Ok for a night or two.

Here are some points to consider:
- Complementary airport transfer was good
- We arrived late in the evening. The hotel had no provision for food when we got there and no possibility to pop out and grab something due to its location
- Large room with a separate dressing area, his and hers wash basins, loo and shower
- Large bed with lots, of storage!
- Dark room. 2 out of 3 Spot lights didn't work but did have bedside lamps
- Power sockets didn't work
- No hot water. Ask them to fix it but still didn't get any
- High ceilings with the TV 8 to 9 feet up the wall!
- Asked for tea and coffee. Arrived with no milk. No phone in the room so had to go out again to request. The hotel didn't have any (!) we were given a condensed milk sachet instead
- Bed clean with clean sheets
- Each Villa has 3/4 separate rooms with a shared kitchen, dining room and living room upstairs. The kitchen was not clean with a dirty fridge
- Complementary breakfast was cold and not very hygienically prepared (outside). Again no milk for tea/ coffee
- Staff helpful and friendly. Helped get us a taxi the next day.
- Water dispenser in the room
- Desperately in need of modernisation
- Free wifi
- Outdoor areas nice with outdoor seating, pool and garden
- Odd room layout with a lamp next to the Jacuzzi!! Dangerous!
- 2 AC units in room worked

A Gem in the remote area of Sanur

This Villa is way off the tourist area of Sanur Bali. It is far away (by foot) from any place you want to visit in Bali. But if you have transport, that is not an issue at all. The Villa do provide transport to Sanur, and even better, complimentary airport transfer.
Other than the location, the Villa is very very good for the price it charged.Spacious, comfortable... definitely much better than the price you paid for.

Fantastic experience.

A lovely surprise after a trip down a bumpy road. A walled compound of buildings set in a green and shady oasis. The villas are spacious and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is inviting. Would we stay again? Yes and we would bring friends.

We booked this place for three nights and paid around 86 GBP. I was a bit worried on the approach as the surrounding neighbourhood is a bit scruffy, but upon arrival we were really pleasantly surprised. I was expecting just a bedroom in a shared villla but what we got was actually comparable to a hotel suite. We basically had free run of a one bedroomed fully furnished apartment! The kitchen had a washing machine, oven, microwave and fridge and the lounge area a cosy sofa and TV. Bedroom was lovely and the bed was by far the most comfortable bed I've slept in in Bali. To top is off, an en-suite bathroom with double sinks and full size bathtub! You really couldn't ask for more!

I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again. The apartment was quiet with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. They will even pick up and drop you off at the airport also to Sanur beach free of charge. The only problem was the stench coming up through the pipes from the septic tank and the ac unit in my bedroom. The smell was unbearable and I had to use bleach to kill the smell. Also the staff needs a little more work with their cleaning methods. I always had to hunt them down to clean my place and when they did clean it was rushed and I had to watch over them to make certain they did it thoroughly. Lastly, the dogs and the roosters in the wee hours of the night OMG! Annoying!! Even with these issues I enjoyed my stay.

Pleasent Stay

We had a comfortable stay at Apel Villa Sanur and we appreciate the excellent service from the staff. We enjoyed in-room made-to-order complimentary breakfast and fully utilized the kitchen facilities for our vegetarian cooking.They assisted us in booking vehicle for our tours with reliable drivers. Only point of discomfort was the initial delay in picking up us from airport (had to wait in the airport for about an hour in the night with kids and elderly mother) - I am confident that they will improve upon this.

Outstanding Service - felt pampered

We stayed at Apel Villa for three nights to be close to the scuba diving shop where we booked our dives - Bali Scuba. Our villa had two large bedrooms & bathrooms, a kitchen & a quite extensive living/dining room. The large screen TV was a bonus. It more than accommodated the three if us. It lead out to a beautiful pool with comfortable lounge chairs. So peaceful. It helped we had beautiful weather.

The hotel is tucked back at the end of a narrow road so one cannot see it from the main road and many locals could not tell us where it was when the cab driver asked for directions. It took us a bit longer to get there from the airport due to that. But, what a gem once we arrived.

The highlight of our stay was the staff. Waited on us throughout our stay. Freshly cooked breakfast brought to our room each morning, a friendly knock on the door to let us know our tour guides had arrived and we were driven into town free of charge for our dinner each evening. And picked up two hours later! Amazing. Let them know in advance about your flights so they can pick you up and drop you off at the airport - which is 30+ minutes away.

It is not on the beach, but we did not have time to go to the beach so that worked for us. Of course, they probably would have driven us there if we wished to go. We highly recommend the villas - good value & very safe.

Good place to stay and relax yes I would recommend

Really happy with apartment .The manager was really helpful and my breakfasts were good .I found the complex really quiet and the pool was nice and clean in fact the gardens also were beautiful .
However I was on my own and once outside the complexe I would have enjoyed it better I if I had someone with me I was a bit harassed with sellers and taxi drivers and their prices varied so much .I would have been better if I had gone on a organised tour rather than on my own .I did pay for a driver and guide for a day which was excellent.My biggest problem was I am gluten free and I found it very difficult to eat out .I made the most of my time in Bali as I know I would not go back.

Like an Oasis in the City

This is a beautiful hotel in the Sanur area. The pool was wonderful for relaxing after a day out. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The traditional breakfast was served each morning in our own living area. The staff was always kind and eager to help with a smile. The hotel offers a free shuttle to areas that are close making it simple to access the beach and shops. This is a great place for family as the rooms are large and comfortable. Wayan and the staff were exceptional, friendly, always helpful with lifts into Sanur, great breakfasts and exellent facilitys. Was down a small back street but beautiful paridise inside the pool was clean, gardens were well looked after by gardener, rooms were huge bigger than what we expected and great WiFi. Will be going back to this Villa on next return and would recommend to anyone else who's looking to stay in Sanur. Thankyou once again to the Staff. Mr and Mrs Hoggan

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Apel Villas, and particularly the service and personnel. It was a secure facility away from the beach at a less than stellar location. However, the facilities were excellent, clean and spacious. The pool and courtyard area was extremely pleasant. They provided prompt transport to and from the airport as part of the booking, as well as making a driver available any time we needed to go anywhere in Sanur. We loved the staff and the price was terrific. The manager, Wayan was superb right along with his friendly team. Loved it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Apel Villa. The staff picked us up from the airport very late at night for no additional fee and were up early the next morning to make us breakfast. Breakfast was served in our room and was delicious. The room was exceptionally clean and included everything we could need including a kitchen, tv, living room, full bathroom with tub and king size bed. The pool and courtyard were pristine and we spent a very pleasant morning there. Overall we could not have been happier with our stay.

Beautiful villa

Had a lovely end to the holiday staying at this villa!! The villa was exceptional and facility's good. The location is ok if u have a car or scooter, the beach is not that far away. We walked it in 30-40 mins! Return leg cause the free shuttle doesn't pick up just drops u off.

Would defiantly stay here again and for much longer than our two last days in Bali!
Free transfer to airport was also handy has we didn't know this.
