Knowing this wasn’t a 5-star hotel, our expectations were low. We arrived here at the end of a week-long travel and were surprised at how this was the perfect stop for the night before our flight from Liberia. We loved this motel-style stop and there was a small breakfast included that had something for everyone.

This was our very first stay in Coasta Rica, so we had no idea where to stay. I picked this hotel because it wasn’t right at the airport, and it was quite a little gem! The staff was very friendly, the rooms were simple and clean, the pool was clean and cool and the breakfast was very good! We only stayed one night on our way to Samara.

The front desk was courteous and helpful. Grounds are lovely with a large clean pool. The room is adequate, water pressure low in shower but clean, comfy yet firm beds, air conditioner that cooled the room nicely. Had a late night snack at the bar, nachos were delicious. The server was alone and probably needs another server for the number of people. Breakfast was good, nice options. Over all, a great find.

We had a great stay at the Las Espuelas Hotel. The people were super helpful and friendly. Pool was nice and clean. Service was great, the facilities were clean but moderate. Breakfast was super and at night we could relax at the restaurant and bar. The only draw back was that there is nothing around the hotel and for every trip we needed a car.

I just wanted to say that other than the hotel being a little rundown (at least in the rooms). It was super convenient, close to amenities and the airport. It was perfect for an overnight stay before heading out of town. Also the staff were super helpful and graciously patient with our limited Spanish. But that seemed to be the norm everywhere in Costa Rica.

Luis at the front desk is an excellent help. I can’t say enough about how helpful he was with everything. The place is rustic, very much reminds me of the American southwest. It’s a nice place to stay for a day.

Beds were like brand new. And they offered a breakfast. Coffee was excellent.

Stay away from this place! Walls are disgusting, internet was reset but connection would come in and out. It was three of us and they only wanted to give us two towels. Not to mention breakfast was not a buffet and only provided one egg a little bit of rice and one sausage. For them to charge $117 per night for three of us is a loss of money.

I recently stayed at Las Espuelas Hotel for 4 nights with my two daughters, and overall, we had a wonderful experience! From the moment we checked in, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The gentleman at the front desk (I didn’t catch his name) was incredibly kind and helpful, answering all of our questions throughout our stay.

The property itself is beautiful, and the rooms were spotless, though we did notice a little bit of mold and had issues with cold showers. It’s worth noting that the location isn’t super walkable to attractions, but that wasn’t a major issue for us.

One of the highlights of our stay was the on-site restaurant/bar. The food was fantastic, and our waiter, Carlos, was outstanding! He was so kind and patient, especially with my very picky daughter, making every dinner an enjoyable experience.

Thank you to the amazing staff for making our stay so memorable! We’d love to return in the future.

The property is well maintained, clean and has a friendly staff. It just looks like time has not been very friendly to the area and the construction of an elevated highway has made it noisy, all hours of the day. The location is close to the airport and the price is great. For a quick stay, this place is great.

Overall a good night's stay. Front desk was cordial and helpful when asked. The only suggestion is that at check-in it is very helpful for the guest to be given a quick rundown, where is the pool, where is the restaurant, what time is the (excellent) breakfast served, etc.. We almost missed breakfast for not seeing a dining room.

The grounds of this hotel are very nice and spacious. The only real negative was the rooms are dated. Really enjoyed our stay. Location was nice near many things but on the edge of town. All the amenities listed were there and worked except hot tub was not hot while we were there.

Some family members and myself were returning from a stay from Nicaragua and staying one night to catch our early flight home. The hotel was very spacious and clean. We did eat dinner in restaurant and portions were big and presented nicely but we found the food extremely salty.
Staff were very accommodating for my daughter in law and grandkids letting them have a late check out.

I didn't plan to stay here, I booked it when my flight was so delayed I was stranded in Liberia for the night. I was a little worried about the "great service, poor cleanliness" reviews ... and had no reason to be. At worst, this hotel is plain, but it was certainly clean. The layout is easy to navigate, the pool is delightful, the room was clean, comfortable beds and adequate a/c in them. The breakfast (which is included!) was FANTASTIC. I actually moaned when I drank the coffee haha. And the service? Better than ANY 5-star I have ever stayed at. I would plan to stay here again. Thank you for treating me so well and making a terrifying experience calming and comforting.
