Ive stayed here several times but the bathroom, 2 towels, no soap, no hand towel or wash cloths. The sheets and bedspread was old and bed too hard for me, it has a nice pool and restaurant on site and kiddie pool and play area, No shuttle to airport. The peacocks are very fun to see. I will try a different hotel next time. A little disappointed.

We only stayed here one night before flying home the next day very early. We had a hike booked earlier in the day, and had to return our rental car, so they graciously allowed us to drop off luggage to be kept safe while we went on our hike. The entire hotel is clean and well kept. The only complaint is that we got woken up at 3:45am to the loudest music I have ever heard. If we weren't leaving for the airport an hour later I would have been livid. There was a horse festival happening that night so maybe it was just because of that, because it was wild outside, music and party people everywhere. Not a reflection on the hotel at all, other than that, we loved our stay and would love to come back!

The grounds and foliage at this hotel are absolutely huge. You can take a walk in nature through many tall trees on a path surrounding a lagoon which has many birds in it including large herons. There are also what looks to be over 50 peacocks that have full run of the place which was great! They can be a little loud at times. The pool is massive and a lot of fun. The food at the restaurant was great and reasonably priced.
We had to leave early to go to the airport so could not eat at the buffet breakfast so they made us sandwiches which was very nice. Would for sure stay again.

There wasn’t any soap in the shower dispenser and the shower head had poor water pressure and a small stream of water.
Room was clean except the air conditioner remote. Very dirty. Staff were wonderful and all other amenities great.

Do not stay at this hotel. Worst experience I have ever had. I tried emailing, calling, and messaging WhatsApp to book airport shuttle as that was the reason we chose this hotel and did not get a response until after booking. They charged us $100 cad for 2 extra guests even though it stated room sleeps 4 and did not tell us until we arrived. They expected us to walk up the stairs with heavy luggage. The sheets had blood stains and the room was filthy. Beds felt like sleeping on cardboard. It was extremely loud, did not sleep at all. On top of all of this it was the most expensive stay we had in Costa Rica. Worst hotel experience of my life.

It was okay , room was decent place seemed alittle barren over all but the location was nice close to really good food and a short cab to the airport. I was disappointed that they advertise a 24 hour airport shuttle which was the only reason we booked it for our last day of our trip just to arrive and find out that the shuttle does not exist. They were nice enough to book us a cab though.

The interior room was dated but clean. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of fresh fruit. Scrambled eggs were made with real eggs and hot.
The grounds/gardens were beautiful with free roaming peacocks and plenty of iguanians.

We had an issue with check in and felt staff attitude made it more difficult. The issue was between the Best Western, their agent and Expedia. It caused the check in to be very long, upsetting and unnecessary. It was very frustrating and once we reached a resolution, staff were very cold and ulnapproachable.

From welcoming us for an early check-in to hwlping us book a very early morning taxi to the airport....this hotel and its staff were absolutely amazing. We arrived well before the designated checkin time and were generously allowed to stow our luggage and usw the pool for thw few hours until 2pm. And what a pool! Peacocks just wandering around being beautiful. Iguanas sauntering. After drinks by the pool we checked in and a beautiful park behind the pool.Loved the room and the great air conditioner. A great shower with plenty of hot water. The front desk staff were so helpful and kind. We were so sad that we only discovered this gorgeous place on our last day!

For the price I paid I was very disappointed. No hot water in shower. Noise from outside bars and birds all night. Drumming all night from Disco Tec. Also sliding glass doors did not close properly. Towels were scantily provided.

I am having car troubles so somehow lost my low tech key card. I was charged $5700 colones or $17 Canadian for a new key card. I complained about this charge. Naomi confirmed the charge with her supervisor.
Can you imagine any North American reading a review and thinking this is a fair charge.

We left before the restaurant was open so didn't have breakfast. Our room was mostly clean but had a used cup and needed a good sweep in the bathroom.
The property is nice as is the pool. We saw a beautiful peacock and heard the monkeys in the morning. We would stay again.

There was quite a long wait at checkin time with only one trained staff member . The room had not been dusted recently. In the restaurant at dinner, one of our meals was forgotten and not prepared until all the others had already finished their meals so we took it to go. The beds were hard. Otherwise it was a beautiful little oasis, and the staff were friendly.

I don’t know where the other guests who gave this hotel a good review stayed, but my experience was terrible. I made a last minute reservation for New Year’s Eve based on the understanding that they had an airport shuttle according to the hotels.com description. Surprise! I was informed at check-in that they do not. I arrived around midnight on New Year’s. There was no one in reception but a very nice security guard who was pulling triple duty as a receptionist, security guard, and maintenance person. The room was terrible. The water in the shower would not stop dripping all night. The bed was hard as a rock. The mirror had lipstick kiss marks on it, and the wardrobe was so wobbly that when I accidentally bumped into it, it nearly fell over. I’m surprised it wasn’t tethered to the wall. I’d be worried it could fall onto a small child. There were two tiny pillows on a king sized bed. No fridge. No ice. One multi-purpose shampoo/soap in the shower. I got up early the next morning and took an Uber to the airport at an additional cost of about $25. The whole experience was extremely disappointing and I would never stay at this over priced facility again. Spend the extra $25 and get a room at one of the Hilton hotels, which are closer to the airport and offer a better overall experience .

The front staff was a bit rude during check in. The kids loved the pool and seeing the peacocks walking around. The garden area around pool is spacious very pretty. We enjoyed the volleyball net and the walk around trail. The rooms were plain. Clean no mini fridge and only a sheet to sleep with. The air conditioner was nice and great fan in the room. Restaurant was plain and nothing special for food or delicious it was ok.

The restaurant on site had great food on their menu, but the breakfast seemed to be the same every day. I stayed for 14 days and they never offered bacon. They did have a good variety of fruit. I booked my stayvat this hotel because the website stated and showed that they had a hot tub. I was very disappointed to find out that this was not the case. The area where the hotel was located was extremely noisy both during the day and all night long. I did not have a full night sleep for the entire 14 days. The location did provide me with the opportunity to get a good walk each day through the downtown. Unfortunately, the infrastructure is not very good, which make walking a risk. As well, it seems that a lot has changed since my last visit to the same hotel and to Liberia 2 years ago. Homeless people were sleeping on the streets and panhandling all over. The city itself is quite dirty. On a positive note, the staff of the hotel were great to talk to and get to know. Most of the people that i met in Liberia were pleasant, as well.

There was hair in the shower from previous guest. The shower head was moldy. Wait 12 hours for someone to open the toilet after falling multiple times to the point I had to get manager. Also was locked onto the property at night because the security went to do something and couldn’t get out. It’s really bad place. Do your self a favor, spend little more and book else where. Ooo also if you are there on weekend, good luck, there is a bar and club across the street with music blasting till 4-5 am. Wish I can post pics, would’ve seen how bad this place is.

Deceiving Listing — Not What I Expected

I booked Best Western El Sitio Hotel in Liberia, Costa Rica through Expedia, and it was extremely deceiving. The photos make it look like a nice, comfortable hotel, but in reality, it feels more like a basic motel. This isn’t a place you’d want to stay for a long period of time. It’s more for travelers passing through or hotel-hopping who just need a cheap night’s stay.

The beds were rock hard and uncomfortable. The property has the look of a hotel but none of the comfort. The breakfast was okay — not great, but edible.

The location is convenient with several American restaurants nearby like Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Burger King, and KFC, plus a small shopping plaza. There’s also a “mall” about five minutes away, but it doesn’t really have clothing stores or much of anything.

On the positive side, the staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and the place was very clean. Overall, it’s fine for a short stay, but definitely not somewhere I’d recommend for a longer vacation.

One good thing, i asked to change rooms, from the really bad one and was accommodated. Room was slightly better, still not great. Not worth $180 US a night. Another good thing, we were only staying one night.

In its heyday probably one of the premier hotels in Costa Rica. Easy to find and great location for exploring Liberia. Van to airport. Very friendly staff with lot of security.

This hotel is okay for a day or so while you are going somewhere else. The pool area and playground are very nice. The room is pretty meh. Beds are hard, but typical. There was AC which was very good. The toilet ring told me that it had not been cleaned in a while. Bugs - not atypical for a tropical place but still. It is close to the street so you get road noise. We were able to walk to WalMart and food but probably would choose something different next time. Especially for the price.

The hotel was quite dated and not very clean in the room. The bed was hard and there were ants in the bathroom. The pool also looked dirty when we walked around it at nighttime. I know this is a tropical location but it was by far the disappointing accommodation of our trip. The woman at the front desk was great and very helpful though (we had an early checkout and she made sure we had some food to take with us). The location also is good - we went for supper at a taco place at a nearby strip mall and it was delicious.
