This is a beautiful resort and location with many fun and engaging activities to choose from!!! The Staffers are absolutely lovely... so attentive, warm and kind. We just finished our fabulous stay. The room was spotless and we so appreciated the VIP welcome fruit platter! The grounds are clean, workers are friendly and very helpful, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the hot springs and loved venturing to a couple of the Waterfalls. We did an all day adventure tour and had an amazing time tubing down the river, followed by ziplining through the canyon.
Our only complaint was at dinner our first night we waited just under one hour to receive our food. It was delicious, just wished we didn’t have to wait so long. We ate at the bar the following night and food came quickly.

We stayed in the hotel just one night and that was enough to see everything, but if you want to do more activities like rafting, zipline, or horseback riding I would stay for more days. The nature is all around the property, beautiful exotic gardens and lots of animals to spot. You need to try their products for hair that’s coms from their spa, hands down. I wish they had online shop I would be their regular customer.

This was a beautiful and very peaceful property. The foliage, vegetation, hummingbirds, and butterflies were extraordinary. Rooms were comfortable and just what you'd expect at an ecolodge. Adventures were top notch. It was enjoyable hiking to the hot springs and waterfalls. We had a blast on the horseback tour and white water tubing adventures.

A bit lack of intimacy as neighbours are very close and you can ear them talk in their room. Food is good but a bit expensive and no other choice around.

The hotel was close to many different activities such as hikes to waterfalls, national park, eco adventures, etc. The buffet was very tasty along with the other dinner meals we had. Rooms were a little out dated and the walls were thin, but nonetheless a nice presentation. Pillows were a little thick and the bed was decent.

Amazing resort! It offers many different activities from horseback riding and hiking to waterfalls to hot springs and spa treatments. The environment is like an upscale ranch, rooms are spacious and ofter garden patio area and views of the surrounding forest, with many birds fluttering around. Nice big breakfast buffet, lots of seating and dining options.

The Hacienda is an amazing place to stay for a family vacation. The property itself is beautiful, and the staff are so warm and inviting. Our family particularly loved the pool area, which has lots of seating for relaxation, a mountain view, and a cafe adjacent from it. The room that we stayed in was close to the pool area, which was a very nice convenience. Additionally, the selection of food is also wide and delicious. As vegetarians, we often struggle to find suitable options for our diet, but the staff were accommodating with meeting our needs. A special thank you to Edwin at the cafe and Mendiola and David at the Hacienda restaurant for ensuring that we always enjoyed our food and stay!

Our stay was great. The property is beautiful. Service friendly and helpful. One area of improvement would be the free shuttle - it needs to be updated. It was an old school bus and a very long bumpy ride to attractions. I did appreciate that the adventure centre could arrange for private cars but it costed additional $15usd to get to each place on the property or national park (then $15 usd back).

This was the final leg of our trip to Northern West Costa Rica. It was nice to settle down at Hacienda Guachepelin knowing we could just stay put for a bit. The Hotel is right next to the entry to Ricón de la Vieja National Park. It is on extensive grounds and has beautiful views and many activities including tubing, horseback riding, zip-lining, hiking and relaxing in hot springs and waterfalls. We took an easy guided horse back ride to La Oropendola Waterfall which is an impressive 25 meters. We also visited the hot springs, but were less impressed, the pools were somewhat murky and too hot for the day so we did not stay long. We took a short hike to additional waterfalls near the hot springs, which was nice. Breakfast was included in our stay which was good and appreciated. We also had dinner at the main restaurant which was fine. Our hotel room was basic but very comfortable.

Ranch-lile setting on edge of Vincon de la Vieja park. Pool is small but nice - great view of volcano. Room with 2 king beds was huge and clean. Would have liked more towels. Air conditioning was powerful. Not supposed to out toilet paper in toilet. Saw a ton of awesome birds off our back porch. Unfortunately, the staff building was behind us so we had to listen to their tv/radio.
Food was passable at best. Staff service at meals was ok. Before you book one of their adventure tours, ask for details. We thought wed signed up for a driving tour of local waterfalls. The guide didn't mention that we'd be crossing 3 rivers barefoot, or that we'd be walking 6 miles on rough terrain in 95 degree weather. And that is ending our tour quite early because we were exhausted. When we asked him about the rest of the tour, he grossly downplayed the distance/time remaining. This may be right up your alley - just be clear on the specifocs because their website description wasn't accurate in our case.

The trails are real singletrack mountain biking trails. We went out for 3 hours and barely covered a quarter of the terrain. The waterfalls on the grounds are amazing. The variety of birds was amazing! It's best to have a car here because the best waterfall and the hot springs are a drive away. And the breakfast buffet was phenomenal: omelets made to order, pastries, fresh orange juice, fesh fruit, yogurt, granola, and hot food like fried plantains, stewed chicken, roasted yams etc. And everything is gluten-free - celiac heaven :-)

Hotel Guachipelin is an incredible place. The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful and so well taken care of. The views from the hotel were amazing. We enjoyed hiking the grounds to see the waterfall that is on the property. We also enjoyed our guided hike of Las Pailas which we booked through the hotel. The staff was so professional, organized, and kind. We wished we had spent more time here.

We strongly recommend this property for families looking to experience a bit of forest resort life in Costa Rica.

Regarding the hotel itself, the bathroom was excellent - strong water pressure and high-quality toiletries. The staff were very responsive; they immediately fixed the wifi after we let them know it wasn't working and delivered blankets after reception hours. Breakfast was outstanding with a buffet of hot, cold, sweet, and savory options (there was also an omelette bar). There was a fridge but no microwave (we booked a superior room).

This resort shines in its waterfalls and thermal springs. The trails to the waterfalls were impeccably maintained with attendants on hand to keep an eye on cars, take family pictures, and monitor belongings if you would like to take a dip. The thermal pools (10 pools, volcanic mud, 2 cold showers) were outstanding; there are towels and lockers available at the trailhead and attendants watching over your belongings at the actual pools. The locker rooms to change into swimsuits were well-maintained and appointed.

You can book all kinds of activities at reception, but we found the included ones to be sufficient.

Beautiful property surrounded by nature. Staff was friendly. It’s a very quiet area and you have walking access to easy trails and just a short drive to other spots like the national park (fee required). The Oropendola waterfall was free to access with your hotel stay - highly recommend, short drive. The hot springs is also included in your stay which is a must. We took the latest free shuttle bus over (5:30PM) because we didn’t want to drive in the dark and it was perfect - there was nobody there. Free breakfast was wonderful, enjoyed the food and fresh fruits. They have three restaurants onsite which was good but pricey. There’s nothing else in the area for dining options and the resort is quite secluded so I guess that’s a factor. The rooms were clean, nothing fancy, felt like I was staying in an older cottage. We saw a lot of different species of birds and monkeys in the national park, it was incredible. I would recommend this property if you want to check out the national park and want easy access

Beautiful property in a great area. I love birding in the area. The hot springs are also really nice and the Simbiosis Spa is fantastic.

Keep in mind you have to drive to get from the rooms to the hot springs and a lot of the trails, so it’s nice to have a rental car. You can get up there from LIR in a 2wd vehicle, but the pace is slow. All roads in Costa Rica need improvement, that’s just the way it is.

Our only complaint this time was the very long wait for our food at dinner one night. Something was off. Others got their food first even though they arrived a good half hour after we did. So it goes, not a major deal. The food is very good

Very friendly staff welcoming us after a long journey from the US, beautiful gardens, amazing fresh breakfast, excellent cocktails at the Canopy bar. We loved the Simbiosis Spa with its serene surroundings, large window to the jungle in the sauna, mud bath and pools.
We also appreciate the fantastic opportunities for activities, the hot springs on the rio a few miles down the road, the Oropendola waterfall and the close proximity to the hike in the Rincon de la Vieja National park. So much more to explore. We will be back!

This place was amazing!! We did all of the waterfall hikes, and they were a highlight of the trip. This was our favorite lodging of the 3 places we stayed during our 11 days in Costa Rica. The trails are well maintained and we’re all doable for our 5 year old daughter. The hot springs are also beautiful and so relaxing. The Canopy bar was our favorite restaurant. All of the staff members were very kind and helpful. We want to go back soon! If you want to visit Rincon De La Vieja, you must stay here!

If you want a nice quiet relaxing vacation this is it. The place is a little rustic but you barely spend any time in your room. The hiking trails are amazing. The hot springs and water falls are to die for. Remember you will be staying in the mountains so bugs and wild life are everywhere. I would definitely make a stay here again!!!! We loved the fact that we had access to the whole waterfalls hikes and hot springs.
We loved the breakfast.
Dinner was ok didn’t like the fact that you had to reserve.
We ate at the bar a couple of times, but choices were limited.
We didn’t want to venture to town at night.
I loved the birds and nature all around us.
We would have preferred more privacy between our cabins.
We couldn’t really sit out in the front or the back without seeing our neighbors come and go.
But those were minor details, we really enjoyed this beautiful heaven on earth.

Reserved this property strictly for the gluten free dining options. The rest was a wonderful surprise! The hiking and waterfalls were amazing. The hot springs and mud bath were a relaxing treat.
