There are several long term renters. It’s a rough crowd. The lamp by the bed was busted. Water taps switched. Evidence of recent fumigation. It felt like someone had just moved out. I’m fine with less than standard accommodations but I felt like I was likely to be part of a crime scene. My wife warned me not to come home with bedbugs. So, as quickly as I unloaded the car, I packed it back up and hit the road.

If you’re on the lam from the law, this might be a fine place to hide out. I just needed a clean safe place to sleep and this was not that place.

The motel room and carpet needs to be cleaned more and the walls also need painting and the window above the kitchen sink needs new kitchen blinds. The curtains hanging in the front window and the rod that holds the curtains needs repair. The chair in the room and the cabinet that holds a customer’s clothes needs to be replaced with a nicer chair and cabinet.

This was the worst motel experience I have had in my entire life. We checked in in the evening, before 9:00 pm. The owner was running the desk and had much difficulty speaking English. I completed the paper work and he supplied me with a key, remote for the TV and 1 bottle of water even though there were 2 of us. The room was very small which was really not a problem, but the bed was pushed up against the wall so each time my husband got up he had to crawl over me. The bathroom had a light over the sink with only 1 lightbulb, there were spaces for 3. Surprisingly the refrigerator did work but the TV did not. We could not get any stations, just many locations with a notice to pay for service. We were already undressed and there was no phone in the room to call back to the office. Arising in the morning we only had cold water therefore no chance to shower. We brushed our teeth and left. Everything was broken, dingy and dirty. I don't know if Maryland has health inspectors but this place should be shut down. The picture you showed of a room when I reserved is definitely not this motel. Because of this experience I will never use Hotels.com to book again and I am telling everyone I come in contact with what a poor representative of facilities you are. I am so sorry we left and did not take photos of the place.

Really decent hotel. Check-in was smooth. Clean room. It was nice to have windows that opened. Able to park right outside the room. Single story so no one stomping above. Seems like they have long term residents living there, but they were at the other end smoking, so it was okay.

As said you get what you pay for. This was the best deal in the area. I have stayed here a few times and the only real issue is that the carpets let your feet dirty. Been like this for years. The room was dated but clean and the beds ect are always clean. I just know to wear flip flops or any thing on your feet to walk around in. My last stay the bathroom door was coming off the hinge at the top and the commode seat was not tight and the lid was broken at the hinge and kept coming off. I did say this was the best deal anywhere in the area so again good for the money. I will stay here anytime I am in the area!!!! There are lots of other places to stay but double and triple the money if that’s what you want!!

Don’t stay here!!!

We did not get the room we booked, when we arrived at the property the hotel clerk told us that room was not available!!! We could have stayed up the road at a better place but decided we wanted a kitchenette room instead, all the clerk said was well it has a microwave. We payed almost $100 dollars for a generic room with very uncomfortable beds and the bedding was like sleeping on Velcro!!! We will go with the better hotels up the road next time!!! I feel like we got ripped off!!!

The property is located between Frostburg and Cumberland. The owner/operator was friendly though he had some communication barriers and cultural differences. We booked with the understanding that we'd pay upon arrival. The owner charged my card while we were still on the road then called me to demand that I add funds to my card because the second room we booked was not paid yet. I explained we were still on our way and my mother in law would be paying for her own room once we arrived and reminded him that was the understanding as per Expedia. He was ok with it, but it took a few minutes for him to understand. Once we got there checking was smooth and he has no time limit on when you check in which was nice because we arrived extremely late as we were driving. The room we got was TINY. There was a chair that was messily covered with a much too large cover. The carpet in the room was sticky and gross. There was a refrigerator that was much too large for the space and a microwave that was rusted on the inside. There was nowhere to put our luggage or our clothing, no closet or even a place to hang any items. The bathroom had the standard soap, mini shampoo/ body wash and lotion. There was a coffee machine. The towels were clean, but the bedsheets had a stain on them. There is an area in the office that has supplies and microwaveble foods and other necessities. There is a laundry room too. This place is ok if you just need a place to sleep.

Not a terrible place, but not very good. It was comparatively inexpensive, and for good reason.
The good… It was very clean and conveniently located. The WiFi was decent. The check in and out was quick and easy.
The not so good… It was loud (road noise and the room heater). It was bright with inadequate curtains. The one mattress was old and rolled you off the edge. I could find only one accessible outlet for the phone charger. The smoke alarm went off, gave a single piercingly loud tone, twice during the night. And they gave us the wrong room (booked a queen got two doubles).
All in all, if you need someplace to crash for the one night, at least it’s cheap. But I don't recommend staying here if you’re looking to visit the area for more than a day.

They overbook the rooms. Last time they were kicking me from one room, to another. This time I stayed only one night and the guy had a nerve to give me a lecture for not saying “thank you” for giving me a different room!!

We had someone try and break into our room last night. My wife was locked in our bathroom and after 15 minutes i looked out to see if the coast was clear and they were still at our door. Had her call 911 but that whole ordeal was 40 terrifying minutes. Owner refused to give us a refund and called me a "scaredy-cat". Everyone stay away from this place, they let dangerous people and drug offenders stay here long term.

Arrived to find that my room with two beds was not available and had to settle for a small double bed for two large people. The room was no larger than 10 feet wide and the heater did not work properly. The receptionist was extremely apologetic and even gave me a partial refund.

Older "mom-pop" motel kind of property. Beds were well worn but comfortable with decent sheets- blankets. Bathroom sink was mostly plugged and backed up quickly. Stall type shower was old and stained but clean. Water facets were at knee level with mismatched handles. Kitchenette stove top was clean but the electric burner heavily worn. Full sized refrigerator was clean and worked fine.

Good value for price. For the price conscious

Motel that appears to be undergoing some renovation. Room was small no closet. However a microwave and a larger size refrigerator freezer were in the room. There was a coffee maker as well. The room was acceptably clean, some of the furnishings were somewhat dated. This hotel is located close to the highway and you do get a lot of traffic noise during drive time. My only major concern was there was no deadbolt lock on the door and the bathroom outlet was not a GFCI. Other than that I would stay there again given the price.

Worst experience ever!! The room was so small you could hardly walk around the bed. The toilet was jammed against he wall. The decor was old and worn and did seem clean. The bed pillows did not even have pillow cases on them. The worst part was the noise. The motel is right on a highway and obviously no sound reducing measures were taken. You could hear every car that went by. When I told the manager / owner that I was not going to stay he got very rude and snippy. I gave him the key and left. I assumed he would credit my card since I did not spend 5 minutes there. However, after submitting a complaint, I was informed the owner refused to issue a refund. Avoid this place at all costs!

Small one bedroom with old worn upholstered chair but everything is clean. No desk, one side table with lamp. Refrigerator and microwave work fine. No hairdryer. Adequate hot water. The manager will give you a bag of ice if you ask. The office has a small retail section where you can buy chips, soft drinks and household items.

On a trip last fall, I stayed at the Holiday Inn in LaVale Its now a Best Western. There was an error in the reservation and the room had 1 bed for 2 people. There were no folding beds or non smoking rooms available. The room smelled moldy and I had to sleep in a chair. This time I went to Claryville Motel. The room had 2 beds and bathroom. No tub, shower stall was easier for me. Windows opened for fresh cool air. Its older but suited me fine. If you want to sleep, shower and get on your way, save money and stay here.

The staff was extremely nice and pleasant, it’s a cheap place to stay if you need just a one night stop. The only things I didn’t really like were the locks seemed really easy to break into; there was only one on the door and they were very loose and if you really tried, you could bust through the locked door. I also found an ant crawling on my bed, there were some spiders on the ceiling in the corner and after a while I detected the faint smell of pee that was a little unpleasant. Other than that, it was ok, I’d recommend it only if you need a quick stop for the night. The best part was the staff; super nice.

The property is an older facility that is well kept and in a quiet area. The check in was quick and easy and the staff was very friendly. As for the room, it was very clean and for the two nights I was there, I slept very well. If back in the area for a stay in the future, I would not hesitate to book this location again.

I had a room with two beds and a kitchenette. This motel was quiet and the host, Osa, was kind, friendly and accommodating. I carry my own cooking and eating utensils with me and the range was great with 5 burners and a full sized oven. The fridge was full sized and cold.. I chose this place because I cook my own food due to sensitivities and I do not eat in restaurants as a rule. Having said that, there are plenty of restaurants a very short drive down the road from all kinds of cuisines-I did not try any of them but they looked good from the road. The setting is beautiful right next to the mountain and the large front grassy area is inviting with several friendly gazebos to relax in. They are animal friendly here and pleasant place to walk my service dog.
The room was a good size and had antique furniture that seems in sync with the throwback vibe of the area. This is the only motel or hotel in the area with a stove and it is also the best deal. The road out front is not super busy and so it is nice and quiet in the evenings and easy access and egress. I am a solo female traveler and felt safe and secure while there.
I ended up starting my trip to western maryland later than expected and called ahead to let them know. The rule is check in before 10:00PM and I arrived at 9:50. Osa was there to set me up and I had a good night's sleep. He has a little store that is full of all you need, food, drinks and toiletries. he even has real butter and eggs in there! I will stay here

I was on a photo assignment and stayed there 3 days. I arrived late and was greeted friendly. On the morning of checkout, the glow plugs failed on my diesel. The owner supplied me with an extension cord long enough to use my engine block heater and I was able to get back on the road.
