This is a beautiful property and our host was great. It is set in beautiful gardens which I wish we’d had more time to enjoy. My main criteria when choosing somewhere to stay is easy parking and a walk in shower.
Only issue was that I’d requested a room with a shower as I find a bathtub difficult. There was one on the website in the house but it must have been allocated, so we were given the delightful gite in the garden. Unfortunately the upstairs bathroom has a wonderful shower, but the only toilet is down some steep winding stairs. I wish I’d known this when booking.

Wonderfully renovated and spacious old mansion. All amenities, great food, hospitable host, easy parking. I chose it because it is just to the west of all D-day beaches, so this way we were able to visit them all from west to east. I only wish there was not so much pressure on getting to this mansion by 7:00PM, but we called in advance and were able to check in by 8:00PM.

A typical but restored French manoir

Really good value. Owner Eric has been there 15 years and said it’s been a non stop renovation. He appears to live on the premises in a separate annex or building. Amazing bedrooms and decor. Fine breakfast. Cons....needs a sat nav to get there. 4 miles down a narrow road to an excellent Italian style French restaurant. Eric will book it for you. Otherwise mikes fromanywhere snd taxis are apparently few and far between. My friend moved two chairs in lounge and forgot to put them back... Eric was very grumpy about that which seemed minor and petty to me. Overall though an excellent place to eat

Manor with historical atmosphere. Well maintained. The owner is very kind and told us all about the history of the manor and of the area. Close to Utah beach but to distant from the other beaches of the
D-Day and from the American and Canadian Cemeteries.
Nice breakfast but the size of the beds is french, so to small.

This is our second visit to this charming place . The attention to detail throughout the building is exquisite You couldnt fail to be Impressed with the renovation .The bed linen is dreamy and each room has its own individual decor . Eric speaks perfect English and makes your stay most enjoyable . The surrounding area has so much to offer the tourist and is so convenient for the Cherbourg ferry . One of our favourites, a night here before heading home ends our stay in France with happy memories

This is a wonderful place to stay. The atmosphere of an old aristocratic France before the revolution, a setting of a chateau with farm buildings and lake. Absolutely unique to a Normandy experience. It is a must see, just like the beaches of the Normandy.

Warm welcome on arrival. Gentle relaxation in extensive gardens after the drive. Comfortable room with good shower then off to restaurant for delicious regional fare (galleteria in church square but don't be put off by the title, the menu is varied). Breakfast excellent.

Charm filled manor in park like setting

Do yourself a favor and stay at Manoir de Savigny when staying near Normandy! It's easy to get to by car, the owner is extremely welcoming and speaks English very well - he had great recommendations for some local site seeing (La Hogue - just a short drive away). The room was nicely done up, the bathroom was one of the better of our whole French trip and breakfast was great! My husband and I especially enjoyed the quiet and peaceful grounds - walked along the pond, hung out with the resident cat and admired all the beautiful flowers and trees that were blooming. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!

Eric did a wonderful job in making us feel at home. This is a getaway location. Rustic bed and breakfast chateau in northern France. Good location to visit the Normandy beaches. I highly recommend. Thin walls though. Do not be afraid to let Eric know if the other guests are too loud. He will go the extra mile to fix this. Good stop for motorcycle touring as well. Excellent meandering well paved roads through French country side.

July stay at the Manoir de Savigny

Our ferry was very late and we didn't get to the Manoir until 11.30pm, but Eric (the owner) was very accommodating. The Manoir is a beautiful old stone manor house set in very nice gardens and in lovely quiet area. The room was very comfortable and well thought out, the decor wasn't particularl to my taste as it was a Morrocan style, but that is purely personal, my partner loved it. Breakfast was a continental help yourself affair with a good choice of croissants, pan au chocolate and bread, together with fruit and yogurt and a good selection of hot and cold drinks. The communal areas were great, the dining room was very elegant, there was also a ground floor sitting room with huge stone fire place and an upstairs bar with comfy leather sofas. We wished we had been able to stay longer that just the one night.

Lovely hideaway near Cherbourg

We were very impressed with the Manoir de Sevigny. It's a lovely old stone manor house with outbuildings converted into cottages. We stayed in one of the cottages (suites), which was spotlessly clean and well appointed with a large open-plan living area and kitchen and good-sized bedrooms. The beds were really comfortable too. Eric, our host, was very courteous and helpful. The breakfast seems to be limited to breads and jams, continental style, but you can also self-cater. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and very pleasant to wander around or sit in. I would recommend this place for those holidaying in Normandy or anyone travelling into or out of Cherbourg as a perfect stop-off.

This was a nice B&B in the countryside close to the Normandy beaches. To get to the beaches you have to go through St Mere Eglise which has a very good airborne museum.

I thought I had booked a B&B room, but we ended up with a large one bedroom upstairs and living room kitchenette downstairs. Because of that the breakfast was extra, but it was worth it.

The biggest difficulty was finding the place. The detailed directions sent by the owner really helped as I could not find the manoir location on either of the two GPS that I had.

Finding a restaurant open on a Monday night was difficult, but the owner directed us to a very good place.

Beautifully restored Château !

This is truly a lovely hotel. We arrived early and were shown to our room without delay. The building has been very tastefully restored and is a credit to Eric and his partner. The gardens are lovely and peaceful! There is no restaurant but the local pub serve quality French cuisine,recommended by our host. I would highly recommend this as a peaceful place to stay.

French country chateau with African themed decor

Within 20 minutes of Normandy beaches and museums and about 30 minutes to Bayeux, the approach on a one lane road through surrounding farmlands,followed by a winding tree lined drive opening to the Chateau and gardens sets up the experience to come nicely. Owners were gracious and entertained us with the history of the Chateau and surrounding area of Valognes. Rooms are clean and comfortable and feature themed decor from the owner's travels in Africa. There is an honor system bar and the breakfast provided filled us up for the morning. The building has been completely restored by the current owners with comfortable beds and modern baths.

Beautiful surroundings

We stayed here for two nights in June 2013. The building is 500 years old but has been restored magnificently, and is still an ongoing project. Our room was on the 3rd floor, a bit of a trek up 3 flights of a spiral staircase, but was well worth it. Our room was spacious and airy with a large bed, two chairs and a small table, and plenty of storage and some hanging space. The bathroom is large, with a toilet, large basin and a long, deep bath with a hand-held shower. There is no shower curtain, so you do need to be careful so water doesn't spray everywhere. The lounge area has a sofa and chairs, and the dining room, where self-serve breakfast is eaten, is beautiful with large windows looking out onto the beautiful garden and grassy surrounds. The host, Eric (who speaks excellent English), and his wife are friendly and helpful. If you cannot manage the stairs it would be best to request a ground floor room when you book. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this beautiful home.

A History Lesson in Itself

Our stay at the Manoir de Savigny was absolutely delightful. Our rooms were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Eric was a marvelous host, and we enjoyed our personal tours of the estate, which he has been restoring with love and respect for its architecture and history. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about his work and was so gracious to share his time. We learned about the changes in the estate over the centuries and its part in the many historical events of this region. The walls could not speak, but Eric spoke for them....and we enjoyed being his students. The estate, with its easy access to the highway, is in an ideal location for those traveling by car and wishing to see the many sites in this area. My husband, a US Army general, had been looking forward to visiting all of the WW II sites and sharing his knowledge with our son, a college junior and Band of Brothers fan. I enjoyed watching them have the time of their lives, as they explored the region. We left early in the morning for our daily jaunts and felt that the estate's location helped in maximizing our time. All of us would certainly recommend the Manoir to those visiting this area, and we look forward to future visits.

Bed and breakfast great experience. It would be good if hosts could offer a little more variety at breakfast-some fruit would be wonderful. Also, absolutely out in the nowhere land so dinner was challenging. More help on that front would have been helpful. Cups and maybe a biscuit in the afternoon would be nice also. Just having something available for guests to help themselves would be nice. Very comfortable and authentic.

A one night stay

We only had a one night stay on our way for the crossing from Cherbourg but could happily have stayed longer and it had a cottage in the grounds which looked charming and would be perfect for longer stays. The manor was a lovely 15th century house which had been renovated to a high standard. It was situated in large gardens with lovely walks and close to the beaches for people wanting to visit the cemetries of the 2nd world war. I would certainly recommend it to friends.

The best B&B in Normandy!

Of the four hotels we stayed at during our driving trip through France, Brussels and Germany, the Manoir de Savigny was by far the most personable and satisfying, and the best value. The building is a an approximately 16th century multi-room European manor that is consructed like a small castle, situated in a very beautiful and quiet rural location among many acres of apple trees, small farm fields and tall woods. Our room was a beautiful two bedroom suite with very pleasant period/regional decor and beautiful views of the grounds from nearly every window. When we arrived at Manoir de Savigny, we were immediately greeted outside beside our car by the very warm and charming Eric (\"famous Eric\" as we called him, given that we felt we already knew him from the very favorable reviews we found on TripAdvisor.com). Eric was a perfect and very personable host who made us feel like invited guests to his home. He greeted us every morning at our breakfast table, which was laid out with simple yet very satisfying continental fare (delicious and fresh local croissants, breads and pastries, cereals, teas, coffee, etc.), and gave us tips on what to see (especially Le mont St. Michel), where to eat in Valognes(especially La Dolca Vita) and great stories about the previous owners and inhabitants of the manor and of the significant historical aspects of the surrounding area. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more and look forward to our next visit to Normandy and the Manoir de Savigny!

Lovely secluded place. Beautiful house and gardens. Rooms were nicely decorated and clean. Very relaxed atmosphere. Only 2 very small minuses, Could have done with extra pillows (but I should have asked, Eric would have obliged I'm sure). The chairs in the room were not comfortable, more decorative than functional. Don't let that put you off, we loved the place and will come back again.

A location to remember

This was the highlight of our month long trip in Europe.
The owners are warm, inviting and very obliging. The manor was fabulous. Set in the countryside yet centrally located it gave us a perfect jumping off spot to explore Normandy. The evenings found us back at the manor to relax and explore the property. We highly recommend!

Die Einweisung zum Zimmer war trotz und wegen der verspäteten Ankunft gut organisiert und kommuniziert. Das Zimmer war hervorragend, ebenso wie das Bad. Das ganze mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Das Frühstück war den regionalen Gepflogenheiten entsprechend und sehr lecker Die weiteren Gasträume (Kaminzimmer und Bar) ließen sich gut nutzen.
