An outstandingly great place to stay

This classic French Chateau in a beautiful setting offers a small number of elegant rooms. Breakfast was fabulous. Our host Francois was really kind and considerate. A perfect stay just 30 mins from Cherbourg. Don't miss the opportunity to take dinner at nearby Le Bistro D'henry. Their cuisine is outstanding!

Beware! Booked the family room (which isn't in the chateau). Beautiful chateau, clean bedding and that's where the good news ends. Lights hanging on bare wires, taped up lights in bathroom, dirty kettle, cheap, out of date take away coffee sachets, tiny, stale breakfast with flies all over it, cracked coffee cup, no real welcome or glass of wine, no shower screen or place to hang shower head, rusty towel rail, blinds don't close, TV in the fireplace, children's bathroom looks like a prison. Truly horrible. Disgraceful attitude from the owners who don't care. We left without being able to shower and didn't want to get ill from the little they left out to eat for breakfast. Avoid if you value your safety.

The ability to stay in a 13th century castle, beautifully maintained by the family that's had the property for nearly 200 years was exceptional. Breakfast was a delight, with home-made crepes, an assortment of bread and croissants, home-made jams, and plenty of coffee. The calm was serene!

Comfortable rooms at a fabulous old chateau, made extra special by the charming attentive host. Nothing was too much trouble, and her advice on what to see and do was spot on. Breakfast was superb. Highly recommended for a stay in Normandy.

This is such a beautiful chateau. It is very dramatic, from the tree-lined entrance to the tall towers and stunning gardens. We stayed in the family rooms, which were very convenient for a family of 4 and had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious (and so much food - our children were particularly delighted with it!). While we had booked a night as a convenient place to pause on our way back to Cherbourg, this beautiful B&B ensured it felt like a continuation of our holiday, rather than just an overnight stop on the way home.

The owner was very welcoming and greeted us as soon as we drove up to the front door. She fixed us a very french breakfast including homemade crepes. Delicious.
The room was lovely and she even had real flax linen bed sheets…heavenly!

Pay to stay .

Not amazing but okay. You pay for a room and that’s what we got. Chose not to eat breakfast so pretty much no contact with anyone. Very scenic but air smelled at time like manure. Maybe fertilizing? Overall it was fine and there for location that fit our plans and the free parking. Our room was not at the chateau but old animal stall building turned into rooms. Toilet extremely loud.

There is no way to compare a stay in a Norman castle to any other hotel for its history, uniqueness and beauty. To add to that our hostess Francoise was so welcoming and helpful making us feel almost as if we were friends. It was certainly one of the most interesting stays we have had as frequent travelers.

Loved the chateau. Francoise was very helpful - even booking us a table in a local town - and although we had to move rooms due to a problem - the room we had was big and had a big bathroom. The breakfast was plentiful and in a delightful room in the chateau. A great start to a tour of France or for a quick hop across.

This trip to Normandy we took a step back in time and stayed at a 13th century chateau. It was a wonderful experience, Chateau Flottemanville is centrally located to our exploration of the 1944 Normandy landing and subsequent battles of the breakout of WWII. This Beautiful B&B property and its generous owners is a must stop for those who cherish history and want a peek into the amazing past in this region. It was enjoyable to step out of the “rat race” for a four day holiday, use your phone as a camera Only, and take the “wrinkles out of your brain”. Walk the grounds, to see deer and pheasant. The breakfast was excellent and the room comfortable and expansive. We loved our time spent here…

This property was ideal for our trip to Normandy. Francoise was gracious and very helpful with our plans for each day. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were very large and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding. Staying here was the highlight of our trip. This is a wonderful location for visiting various places throughout the region. It far exceeded all expectations.

Ordnance survey map required to find us.

Could not find the hotel - No info on Garmin Sat Nav - searched on 'chateau' then hotels full name and again on the post code - drew a blank for this hotel - drove to the post code area and drove around for 1 & 1/2 hours to see if I could find roadside directions - nothing. Feedback on web had said 'in the middle of no- where'! - absolutely correct. For this reason the google map didn't give enough detail on the location. It's rare that my sat nav can't get me to a hotel. If it's this hard to find then fuller detail needs to be put on the hotel's website - it's good for business if prospective guests can find you! My mobile was out of commission. I have cancer and having traveled for 7 hours to get to this location I was v. tired and very fed up so at 6 p.m. I gave up on Flotteville.

Lovely medieval chateau with separate wing for guest quarters; very comfortable, quiet, superb ambiance, breakfast in the chateau itself, and delightful proprietoress. And a great country restaurant, Pont de Cochon, just a few kilometers away (try the penne alla gorgonzola avec boudin - out of this world).

A beautiful experience in a chateau

We stayed one night after getting of the ferry in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, on our way to a campsite further south.
We all really enjoyed the stay in the chateau.
Francoise was a friendly and helpful hostess, who made a reservation for us at a nearby restaurant, which was also excellent.
Breakfast was lovely in the morning with a great selection of breads and cheeses. Delicious pancakes were a welcome surprise as well.
We will return in the future.

The good life in the French countryside

Chateau Flottemanville is an absolutely stunning country chateau located in a quiet rural area quite near to Valognes and about a 20 minute drive south of Cherbourg. If you want to really relax and dream about what it might have been like to live in France in olden days, Chateau Flottemanville will stimulate your imagination. The proprietors are very nice and their English language skills are very good so it won't matter if all you can manage in French are the few words you learned in high school. My room was very comfortable and spacious. Open the windows at night to listen to the gentle breezes and to be awoken to the sounds of birds singing gaily in the morning. A fantastic breakfast awaits you and, depending upon the season, you will be warmed by a crackling fire in the hearth while you enjoy some of the best pastries, cheeses, yogurts, crepes, and fresh squeezed orange juice I've ever tasted topped off by a cup of strong hot coffee.

The chateau was fine for an overnight stay and the reception was efficient and friendly. Dinner had to be taken in a nearby auberge, which was fine. The room was comfortable, quiet and full of character. Breakfast was simple \"continental\" and would have been improved if cereals had been available. If in the area we would definitely stay again.

It was a lovely experience staying at Chateau Flottemanville
Francoise and her husband were wonderful hosts.
Hearing the history (beginning in the 13th century) of this beautiful
Castle was a joy.
So close to so many points of historical interest and with a beautiful
Gourmet restaurant within a 5 minute walk, it was a pleasure we hope to enjoy again.

The castle is wonderful and we had a fantastic stay! The grounds are well maintained and very peaceful. There is not much within walking distance but the location is good for driving to points within the region. Our hosts were very welcoming and we enjoyed very much hearing the history of the castle. We also had a delicious breakfast with fantastic cheese! Vive la France!

Arrived here straight off the ferry from Cherbourg for one night only and immediately started to relax. Only a short drive from the port and well worth it.The view as you pull into the main drive is worth the visit alone. Rooms are in a block away from the main chateau accessed up a flight of stairs so not ideal for those with mobility issues. Brightly decorated with a mix of old French furniture and modern chic. Very French.The bathroom was clean and spacious, water pressure good. The hostess was very welcoming and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was the best of our trip - lovely fresh orange juice, choice of breads, cheese, fresh croissants, crepes homemade jams and good coffee. Enjoyed a lovely evening dinner at local restaurant only a 10 minute walk away. A truly lovely peaceful place to relax. A perfect place to start or end a trip to France.

So glad we booked here. Best choice of our 9 night vacation. Rooms are in an outbuilding and you will need to go over to the Chateau for breakfast. Ours was up a set of stairs. Breakfast was stupendous and in an elegant setting. A bit difficult to locate; find the very good restaurant and go down the road beside it to church and turn right. The driveway is just beautiful

We hebben hier overnacht tijdens een rondreis. We werden hartelijk begroet en naar onze kamer in het kasteel begeleid. De kamer was heel ruim en zeer netjes, wat niet eenvoudig moet in zo'n gebouw.
De badkamer was ook zeer ruim. Het was alleen een beetje koud. De chauffage was niet voldoende. Prachtig domein en ook zeer centraal gelegen. Aanrader als je eens iets specialer wil om te logeren!
